Congrats to all of you... not just those that lost this week, but ALL of you for your continued effort in this process! We'll get there... every single one of us! :)

cadwell... Glad to hear that your interview went well! Good luck on your second one! :) Best of luck! Keep us posted! :)

Melissa... Not sure what to tell you about the potty-training issue. With my daughter, I put her in panties one afternoon, she had three accidents that day and not a single one for the remainder of the week. That was it. We tried prior to that and she would flip right out when we even tried to sit her on the potty. I think it's true about them needing to be ready. At least that was the case with Meleigha. Good luck! :) Glad to hear that you were able to move your ticker! Keep up the great work!

LauraB... You definitely deserve a thumbs up for your determination at the fair! That is phenom! :) Good news about your son and DIL! Here's hoping it's smooth-sailing from here on out. :crossed:

sandisuze... Wal-Mart is pure insanity... and I can only imagine what it would be like with a threat of a natural disaster! :dizzy: Congrats on being down a lb! :) You're doin' awesome!

melra... Good job running over a mile yesterday! I'm sure you'll see some great results really soon! :) Keep up the great work! I agree, maybe doing a monthly-end individual/group total would be a good idea... it really helps to put things into perspective! :)

Theresa... Congrats on the loss! Meeting your first mini-goal is fantastic... and now your on your way to mini-goal number two! WTG!

Mary... WB! Don't stress too much about the number on the scale, just focus on the week ahead. 177 is your starting point. We all have one. :) Glad to hear that you'll be digging out your WW books, I'm sure it won't be long before you say good-bye to 177 forever! :)

Everyone else... a great big  ! Hope you're all keeping well! :)

Me... Still lagging from this awful insomnia. This stinks. Thanks, melra, for the suggestions of melatonin, I'll have to check with my Dr. first to see if it'll affect the other medications I'm currently taking. Last night out of total desperation, I took 2 sleeping pills (was actually in bed just after 9pm) but still didn't fall asleep until after 2am. There was DH, sawing logs... how fair is that?! :?:

REALLY hoping to be out of the 140's by WI next week! I'm really going to focus on that! I haven't been in the 130's since reaching my pre-pregnancy weight a couple months after DD was born... and that was short-lived! I actually weighed more when I began this program last year than I did at full-term pregnancy (then again, I only gained 20lbs total and wore my size 9 jeans home from the hospital). Geez, why can't everything be that easy? ;)

Nothing else to report from this end. Just wanted to congratulate everyone on their efforts this past week! Keep up the amazing work, ladies! :)

Take care of yourselves and have a happy and healthy day! Best wishes!

~mel

mary~Hi! Glad you made it to the thread! Don't worry about your starting number, your success will just be that much more dramatic! :) Can't wait to see your ambitious little ticker! I also need people to help kick my butt in gear--so here I am! I will nag you to your heart's content if you want me too! :D How'd the first time back to the gym go for you today? Sweatin' much? I'm going to try to really push myself on cardio tonight because I kind of want to just watch tv tonight :nono: so I know I have to work through this laziness thing. :tread:

neo~you got the ticker!

macdeez~ sorry you're having such a tough time with the insomnia, that must be driving you crazy. Good luck with the doc and I hope you catch some zzzzzs soon!

laurab~you nailed in on the head for the WI--if I did allow myself to wait that long, there's no telling what I'd see when I finally did get on the scale.

Well the donuts are gone and I didn't have one (mmm...sugary lard balls...not!). Now there's snickerdoodles. :dz: Dang! I mean, there's always something out there, isn't there? I think I'd lose 10pounds a year just by avoiding all break room temptations and afternoon coke breaks. If I were a patient person, that's an experiment I'd do. As it is--I want to lose faster :s: !

Melra, sounds like you've hit a plateau...which everyone does sometimes. Your body gets used to what you're doing and just pauses. You can stick it out and eventually it should pass, but it can take awhile. Or, you can do something to snap your body out of it. The best way is to vary your workout, start doing something different than you're doing. In the walking section of www.runnersworld.com there's a plateau busting workout that I hear actually works. You can also eat differently and that sometimes works, but I think exercise works the best. Just switch to something new and that should work. If your'e walking, do a video or something, etc. You can rent videos at the library if you don't have one and don't want to buy one.

Oh, and if you really, really pump up the water that will help get ya going as well.

Welcome Mary!!! YOU CAN DO IT...just get going on your points and watch it happen. I know, much easier to say than do, but we are all doing it and SO CAN YOU!!!!

Melra, if you count your calories the evening to evening way, then you can allow yourself a little snack at night...that way you don't feel deprived, yet you can control it so it doesn't take a lot of calories. If you can go on less in the afternoon or morning, then this could work.

Hi kids. wanted to stop in and tell everyone how proud I am of you in your weight loss AND in overcoming all the other stuff life throws at you! Makes losing weight that much more difficult.

I just have to make it onto this posting board more often! UGG.

So I'm wondering...what are some kinda unusual things ya'll like about yourselves?

I ask this random question because I was just thinking how much I appreciate my ability to walk in really high heels. Not all women have that and as a 4'11" shrimp it is a really cool quality:)

neo98292 08-24-2005 07:39 PM

Guess for me it is my ability to make people laugh. I feel my best when I can make people happy and I am part of the shrimp group myself at 5ft 1in. I used to walk in heels on all terrains but since the arthritis happened, I am a flats gal always. I used to be such the shoe collector too!

I getting very moody. I don't feel like being nice to my dh or kids. I think it's cause I 'm so use to eating everytime there is the slightest bit of stress, opening the fridge, grabbing something, that now that I'm not doing it, I have to face real ifeelings instead of stuffing them down.
Anyone else feeling like this?
Laura

neo98292 08-24-2005 08:23 PM

Yep I go through it too. Partly for me I think it is grieving because I have lost my "friend" who wasn't one really but I treated it that way. So you have anger, resentment, ect for having to give it up. I have been snappier at the kids of late-was better today. So now the trick is to find other methods to cope with stress and other things that happen in life that cause me to eat too much. I really haven't found the "thing" yet other than walking away and counting to 10 when I am able to catch myself getting undone.

sandisuze 08-24-2005 08:37 PM

Ok i have ya'll beat.. I am only 4ft 10 in.. Yes at my weight I look like an ommpa loompa or a weeble.. But thats ok- I am me and getting healthier day by day-
Laura I stay moody at times because I want to eat and I am not fit to be around- I go in my room and read or exercise- :ebike: there are times I DO NOT cope well with anything..

I gues what I like about myself is my sense of humor- and when I accomplish something I set out to do (like meet my mini goal) but if I fail I want to get back up and keep pushing..

I am doing the dinner to dinner count and it's really working well for me. I save enough points to have dressing on a salad if I get the munchies in the afternoon..

My day was unreal -Needless to say we had to call the police today because one of the homeless men who come by for food decided to take a shower- Buck naked in our back lot with our hose - we have bags of food and hygiene supplies available as we get lots of homeless and transients as we are on a major hiwayand I guess we are known for our soft touch - i make alot of PB&J to hand out during the week. So one of the older ladies (around 75) comes running in saying there was a naked man behind the building so one of the men went out and sure enough he was taking a shower - he wouldn't get dressed so I had to call the police and the poor officer who showed up was prolly all of 23 years old and she was embarrassed as could be- the little old lady is in my office in a tizzy as are the other senior ladies who are there for an afternoon tea.. Now i was wasn't laughing at him - he was distressed, and I felt bad for him as he really needed help. I was in hysterics at the little 84 year old who calmly stated, "my he was well endowed wasn't he???
and she then said "Haven't seen anything that nice since my husband died years ago.." at that point I almost lost it and had to escape back to my supply room so I could die laughing..

ya'll have a nice night!
Sandi
