Hmmm about the moodiness...Somehow I am in a really content place. I don't know how and I hope I hang on to it. I guess it's just that I've come to terms with what I am doing.

I have a new addiction though. food related. Salad w/chicken and poppy seed dressing. I could eat it breakfast, lunch, and dinner and I do and it's not even that bad for me. the dressing leaves a tad to be desired but of all the evils I don't think that's the worst:) Satisfaction with my addiction I think contributes to the contentedness.

4'10" eh? When you are at your goal weight you are going to be one of those totally desirable little tiny petite things. Small sweet features.

AND

*Dynamite comes in small packages!*

The 84 year old = Hilarious! I ADORE people. that's why I like working at 9-1-1. Not a work day goes by that I dont get a really great belly laugh!

HOW FUNNY!!!! What a wonderful thing you do for those people! By the sounds of us we should have been called the shorty starters! We seem to be getting a couple more inches each generation-my grandma is 4ft 9 (might be less since she is 91 and tells everyone she is shrinking), mom is 4ft 11 and I made it to 5ft 1 and my daughter is about 5ft 4 or so. I always tell people by the year 3025 we are gonna be Amazons!

Hi everyone!

I am so far behind on the threads it isn't even funny. I've hardly had any time at home lately.

I did get brave and upload some pictures...but I'm too chicken to post them here for the whole world. Check your email if you want the link...I just sent it to the group.

Oh my gosh, Sandi!! I laughed so hard at your story! That was too funny!

Laura I still get moody at times and I have been at this over 7 months now. I really try hard not to take it out on my kids...and my husband understands and just grins and bears it when I get snappy with him. The good days outnumber the bad now by a long shot, and he knows that my good moods are REALLY good so he is good at ignoring my nastiness when I'm feeling grouchy.

Hmmm...something unusual that I really like about myself...I've got to think on that one a bit...I know there must be something. How about this...I'm a junior/senior Prom co-sponsor and everyone tells me I must be nuts for doing it but I love every single minute of it. Also, my creativity and my compassion for people and animals. I certainly can't say high heels or ability to make people laugh...those are great ones, but I'm to uncoordinated for the heels and usually my shyness gets in the way of making people laugh.

KL- Your photos are just wonderful. Thank you for sharing them. I am inspired.
I have a highly developed sense of humor. How else could I be married to the same guy for 40 years (I was a child bride of course) Finding the humor in bad times and laughing a lot together has held us together.
I absolutely could never wear high heels cause they hurt and I think they were invented by huge lazy fat men so women couldn't run away fast and they could be caught and remain barefoot and pregnant.
Right now I am so moody and mean that I can't possibly think of another good attribute. I don't even want to eat, cause WI is in 7 days. I am only at 900 calories. I might have an ice pop.

kayelle~ good to see you back!

laura~i'm sorry you're feeling so moody right now. I think I just went through a moody spell a few days ago. I really think though that you should get some more calories in you--900 just isn't a healthy level. That may be a contributing factor to your mood. --and it's okay if you want to be mean to me, i will understand it's not really you talking! :s:

sandisuze~great story! What a hoot that lady must be! And I'll echo neo--that is wonderful what you guys are able (and willing) to do to help.

I got some ab and back work in tonight after my run. Feeling much better about myself. I also got "independent verification" on my scale's numbers--yup, no change.

lizardsnlilies~ I am all about walking around in big girl shoes. I don't know if I'll still be able to keep it up in another 40 years, but I probably won't care as much about it then anyway!

Okay ladies, I will tell you something about me that my hubby cannot stand and finds completely insane. I am a writer, as I have said here before, but to me it is more than just putting words on paper. To me, my characters are real people...I dream about them, have conversations with them in my mind or conversations between themselves in my mind, and to me they are real, breathing people on the earth. I am not psycho and I do rationally understand they are NOT real at all, but to me they are like my friends and my enemies and I love them all...even the evil ones. I work with them so long that they do feel real to me. This drives my husband up the wall, he thinks it's crazy, but I will suddenly jump up and say "I have to write this down...so and so just came into my head and said this line that I just cannot forget!" and i"m of to the computer for who knows how long.

Now, you can all think I'm insane :p Really I do know they are just made up, figments of my imagination, but to me they are REAL.

Oh, and I ate donuts tonight instead of dinner. Just thought I'd slip that in there and maybe no one would hear it

Theresa

neo98292 08-25-2005 12:30 AM

That isn't insane at all. I have read my interviews and many of the best writers and novels are done the same way. Remember Romancing the Stone? Joan did the same thing with ALL of her novels. Of course the hero was the same guy all the time just in a different setting. I think it is natural since you spend so much time with the characters in a manner of speaking, not to get attached to them....and I saw the part about the donuts ROFL

cadwell125 08-25-2005 06:06 AM

melissa your ravioli recipe is so good. i have had it three times in the past two days and i bet i am going to keep on eating it until i never want to see another ravioli as long as i live.
i watched on in horror tonight as dh ate some nasty "food" from weinerschnitzel. i even refused to give him $$ for it and said "do you think i would give you $$ for a cocaine habit? same thing." he got it anyway. i was totally grossed out, but i had to laugh at the bag. it advertised "weinerschnizel diet -- no cravings, no hunger, no expensive food to buy -- you can't lose on this diet -- the diet for non-dieters." i was rotflmao. the stuff was so terrible dh couldn't even finish his chili cheese fries, chili cheese dog, and chili cheese burger.
honestly, diet or no, i would rather have the fruit i ate instead of that nasty caca.
i am so bitter. the scale said i am 171 today. i think it is off. any scale that says i gained weight is off. but seriously, i had a grip of coffee right before i weighed in. and also i did leg press yesterday. so i put on some muscle weight. if i stay home and sit on the couch, i'll lose it. :s:

Purplefirefly 08-25-2005 06:15 AM

Cadwell, muscle weight is a GOOD thing! It's great to lose weight, but to be toned and trim in the end will be amazing. I've watched my SIL who lost over a hundred pounds and I've realized she'd look so much better if she were toned...so that's why I started with the weigts. It's okay it weighs more, because the difference should show up in measurements of inches if you take those.

Melissa, writers who have been at it awhile are like you and know that it's a good thing to feel your characters are real. But, some people have no clue what I am talking and think I hear voices in my head or something crazy like that. Really, if you've been working on a story for months and years, and that character doesn't feel real to you then you have a serious problem. Actually, mine feel real from draft one most of the time, other times just a few drafts later but within a month if they don't come alive I usually put them in a file and let them sit awhile--usually meaning a couple years. If the character is not alive to the author, it won't come off as alive and real to the reader, and you won't get them to suspend disbelief and forget they are just reading fiction..you want them to feel it just might be true.

Okay, hushing up now. So you heard the donut bit? Guess I whispered too loud.

Theresa

Theresa -I think it's wonderful that you have a passion and it can stay with you even when you are not sitting with a pen and paper. That's the best way to live. And you are so lucky that you don't need tools or paints or instruments, just your creative brain. Keep it up.
Cadwell-don't worry about the scale. You are doing so good.
Laura

sandisuze 08-25-2005 09:08 AM

Donuts *sniffs air* where are you hiding donuts??? You could at least share

Tip of the day: break cookies and donuts in half and the calories will escape- therefore being allowable on any diet... (so wish it were true)

I am giddy from Lack of sleep.. up till 11:00 last night getting organized in case Katrine skips her way north a big.. the county just south of us (20 minutes south of me) is under tropical storm warnings and we are gonna be holed up all weekend from the rain (3-6 inches) and maybe 25- 30 mile an hour winds... then i was up at 5:30 pulling in trash cans after the garbage men got done.. Kids and I will hit the library this afternoon cause we prolly won't have satelitte this weekend..Love those free movies

Theresa- Your people in stories have to be real- when I read a book or story I want to envision the characters as true to life as possible and if they aren't real to the writer then they aren't going to be exciting or evil or good and the book will be boring. You are not nuts..
No exercise yeaterday- well I did cut grass and lug stuff around so that counts a bit..over ate last night no "bad "foods Just ate out of stress because of the maybe storm..Like i had no dinner but ate some raw veggies and jello and smart pop and a peach and a banana and some more jello(SF/FF)
I wanted cookies but we didn't have any so that was good..
I will try to keep posting but who knows what'll happen over the weekend??
Sandi :comp:

Purplefirefly 08-25-2005 10:19 AM

Sandi I hope you're okay over the weekend, and I'll look forward to hearing from you next week if you disappear.

Does anyone know how to fit shoes to a 3 year old who swears every single pair hurts? She has a pair that she wants to wear every day, but they leave blisters and make her walk funny...and she swears they don't hurt at all :^: I can't send her to school in them, but every other pair I tried on her this morning she right away swore they hurt, before even standing up in them. One pair she yelled out "OUCH!!" before I even touched it to her foot  She only wants to wear them if she thinks they're "cute" and nothing I pick out apparently fits that category. What would ya'll do?

Theresa

neo98292 08-25-2005 11:35 AM

ODESSA WENT POTTY ON THE CHAIR THIS MORNING!!!! Between sitting there with her and bribing her with her own coffee (she loves the stuff and I won't let her have it) she finally went and then we all did a happy dance and got excited. About the shoes I have no clue-Amanda refuses to wear them at all. In any way shape or form. Most of the time she will take off the socks too. If the others didn't leave blisters, I would say let her wear them. Maybe take her to the shoe store and let her pick a pair out-of course last time I did that with Dess, she picked a pair of Ninja Turtles rubber boots-LOL. We were there for tennis shoes for her but she loves the turtles. Wish I had an answer for that one, especially since I have an anti shoe kid.
Melissa

Purplefirefly 08-25-2005 11:47 AM

WOO HOO Odessa!!!!!!!!!!! Potty time!!!!!!!

My son is anti-shoe as well. He could care less what you put on him, because the first second he gets he will take them off, socks and all. And he can't wear those footed pajamas because they drive him nuts and he screams and cries that he can't get them off lol

I haven't really eaten much today because we went shopping, then I had to make some calls for hubby, then a friend called and we chatted for an hour...so I am really hungry now! I am typing here first so that I can be held accountable to eat something good for me...not the oatmeal cookies hubby brought home last night for the kids  I told him that they don't need cookies, because I bought lots of fruit...but, he thinks it's his duty to give them the "good stuff" although I consider the GOOD to be the FRUIT.

Okay, enough of that...I am going to eat somethign else, NOT the cookies.

Theresa

Hooray for Odessa! :dancer: I wish my youngest granddaughter would get the potty idea. She turned two in June, but she's just not ready or as her sister says..."She's not ready to ride the potty train yet."

Hmmm...not sure what to do about the shoe problem. Maybe a trip to the store so she can pick out some new shoes that "don't hurt".

Sandi (and all our other friends from Florida), stay safe this weekend! Hopefully Katrina won't be as bad as what they are forecasting!

All this talk of donuts....MMMMM donuts...I want donuts........
