oooh..the scots mafia is in the house   remind me never to upset you Carol..or to have a job that you fancy either
well, all my plans for a "good" day went up in smoke today..i went out with hubby to visit a few of his pals and he took me out for dinner :D i was'nt going to pass that up because i don't get asked as much as i used to  i'll have to try again next week :s: |
Had a fantastic day , ate to plan and no alcohol. Walked another 3 miles last night. Have a plan for today and am determined to see it through. The scales are unoffically down one pound, so far this week. Want to try and get another one to join that one.
Am still planning how I can create a vacancy in the team I want to work in. Have no realistic ideas, but had a lot of fun dreaming :cb: |
Great Job Carol..wish i could say the same  i think the temperature is dropping a few degrees today so i might be able to get a workout in :) depending on if i get rid of hubby or not.. he's still in bed..only just turned 6am here but he usually goes for brekky with his pals so it should'nt be a problem..i hate working out when he's home because he usually makes fun of me or cranks the treadmill up to 10 miles an hour (his idea of fun  ) BBL

Just popped in to say good night to everyone :)
Carol, wow, you really had a great OP day -- good job! I bought a new scale tonight as I got a different weight everytime I stepped on this morning. Watch the new one put me 10 pounds higher :faint:! Cathy, great visual of you flying off the treadmill as DH turns it upto a "ten" -- -- I'm with you though, I like my workout time to be "my" time. No spectators! First Saturday night in a long time that I have not had a glass of wine -- craving red Twizzlers instead :dizzy: -- go figure. Russ went to McDonalds and since I had already eaten, I just had a Diet Coke. There was a woman there that I felt so sorry for -- she must have been diabetic as her finger nails were black and she had to be over 350 lbs easy. She walked with a cane and was huffing and puffing. She had her head down on the table and didn't look well at all. Russ asked her if she was OK, but she didn't answer -- she had to have heard him. Her family came with the tray of food loaded with supersizes of everything (they were all grossly over weight including the little boy which was so sad) -- I don't ever want to do that to myself. I really felt so sorry for her though as she looked miserable. My heart went out to her -- food was truly an addiction for her. Anyway .... just putzing on the computer waiting for Chris to come home. Think I'll go upstairs and watch some TV as well. And, a cup of tea sounds good too. Pam, Em, Meg, Dahlia and Grandma -- special hellos! And, good night to everyone too! |
Morning Ladies
Terry your description of that family was  i'll bet that woman just stuffed that meal in her mouth and did'nt even enjoy it :( it is a testimony of what junk food joints have done to a lot of Americans :( I was just thinking :chin: although McDonalds is popular here i've never seen any really fat people going in there, in fact i've rarely seen any really fat people period...mind you.. the majority of them are in their teens and are active enough to burn it off..wonder what they'll look like in their forties :( Well, you'll be proud of me :cp: because i treadmilled yesterday at noon (of all times  ) only 1.5mls but at least it was something...did OK foodwise really for a Saturday night..just under 1500 cals i think and under 40g fat..not added it up yet but thats pretty close. |
Good for you Cat, on your workout and eating on Sat. night! I made a rhubarb crisp and have eaten too much of it...We had planned a family walk this afternoon, but the weather turned cool after my nap so we didn't go.
Terry- how is the SBD?? I think I'm just going to try low-fat / lowcal (well, "lowish" since I'm nursing...) for awhile while starting walking again and see what that does. Definitely like the idea of "lower" carb or at least non-processed carbs! I'm getting there, really I am! Just a matter of starting now that I'm hearing the "click" :) Well, everyone else HI to you:) This is short as Ian is fussing and trying to get his brothers in bed. Later babes! |
Morning!
Woke up thinking it was almost 4am -- try 12 midnight  ! Well, I bought my new scale (a Tanita so it measures body fat too) and weighed myself first on the old, then the new just to see how much off the old one was -- a half pound difference. The reason I wanted a new one though is because I would get a variety of weights each time I stepped on most days. What I liked best about the Tanita was that it shows you where to position your feet. And, it was not the most expensive in the store! ;) Unofficial weigh in isn't until Tuesday but I am down 7 lbs so far. Cathy, excellent job on the treadmill and I think 1.5 miles is great -- it doesn't have to be a marathon workout to be effective. And, Emily, I think you're wise not to cut too much out while nursing Ian especially since he's a newbie and he needs all his nutrition. I hear ya about the weather -- no rain today but just dreary and overcast. Discovered that a mama bird had her babies in the watering can I have hanging under the deck. She wasn't there and I told Russ just to leave them be. I thought I heard little birds earlier this morning and now I know I was right! Cathy, I agree, Americans are getting fatter and fatter on the average and fast food and so many "low fat" foods are the culprit. According to SBD, "low fat" means lots of sugar and carbs -- the wrong ones (as Em said -- unprocessed) that promote weight gain by not dissolving the fat in our bodies like the good carbs and the good fats do. Not going to work Monday as I have to take my mom to the doctor at 9:30am and then I have an eye doctor appt in the afternoon as I am having cataract surgery Thursday. And, if you don't hear from me by Friday -- send daisies!! Let me go and see if I can get back to sleep or I will be a bear all day long :yikes: ..... Always, Terry |
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WEIGHTLOSS TERRY :bravo:
Hope you got some sleep  i was as bad  tossed and turned all night came downstairs at 3.30am and finally dropped asleep on the sofa around 6am..must have had a grand total of 2 hrs interrupted sleep  I'll bet Em gets more than us  I don't think there'll be any need to send Daisies  and anyway we're not that cheap i'm sure i speak for the rest of the girls when i say we'd send roses!! (we'll let you push the daisies up!!  ) I did'nt exercise yesterday..cleaning, laundry, sunbathing, and cutting down scotch broom on the bank..it was scorching out and my back is as brown as a berry. I printed out the SBD over the weekend too and i think if i'm very strict with myself that i could do it..it would certainly be worth trying after seeing your results Terry..do you feel any different? have the cravings gone? like she say's they will. Emily..how is "our" Ian doing? is he growing fast? i know my little angel in England appears to be...i think she's in Barbados now, its hard to keep track of those jetsetters..LOL Hi Pam, Dahlia, Meg and Everyone else. |
Morning Lovely Ladies!! :)
Cathy, , I bet Emily does get more sleep than both of us! I have chosen to be knocked out completely for the surgery because I am such a chicken and just don't want to know anything about what he is doing. The doc's probably glad too! He's a friend of mine so I am going to remind him at this afternoon's appt that I am really doing general anasthesia for his benefit too :dizzy: . Official weigh-in today and I am down a total of 6 pounds for the first week of phase one on SBD -- but that's a pound gain since yesterday. Please remind me not to keep weighing myself everyday -- if I could handle it mentally then it's OK, but I do not! Cathy, the cravings for carbs have really subsided -- I just keep thinking of red licorice, seriously. It's almost like you need tunnel vision though -- don't even glance at the carbs on the menu, etc. Did you check out the SBD forums on Prevention -- awesome advice. I did join Dr Agatston's web site (dropped WW Online) which has a $6.95 monthly fee attached. I figure I can use all the help I can get! See if you can pick up the book -- I've seen it as low as $12.95 (reg $29.95) -- it really makes the diet seem so much more workable. Need to run -- special hellos to everyone else! I have a doctor's appt at noon and have a zillion things to get done before I go. What does Scottish broom look like?? BTW, if I believed in reincarnation, I'd like to come back as one of Jacqui's kids as Olivia is quite the little traveler --- I love to travel!! :D |
 I love to travel too Terry :D I'll let Jacqui know that you said that when i hear from her again
Scotch broom is from the pea family according to what i have read and it looks a lot like Gorse..ours has yellow flowers and just around this time of year they go into pod and then the pods burst and scatter thousands of seeds all over the land  the seeds can survive up to 80 years :yikes: (no wonder i can't get rid of it) when it is'nt in bloom the bushes are ugly and look like tumbleweed  it is a really fast grower and even small plants can have a root 3ft long!! We pulled one..well..actually winched one out of the rock wall and it moved a boulder that was about 3ft wide...the root was about 5ft long!! That is the only way to shift it really by pulling it out..root and all. What an incredible weightloss Terry..6lbs in one week must give you such a huge incentive to carry on with it :) How great that your quack is a friend..i don't even have one..a friend or a quack!! |
C -- no friends????? What am I, chopped chicken liver???!!!!!  In a rush -- getting supper ready!! More later .... !
|
man- I just lost the longest post with tons of fun smilies
GRRRR! now Ian is crying catch ya later |
Morning Ladies :)
he-he :s: i knew that saying that i had no friends would make ya say something T  :hyper:  ;) Looks like i caught you and Em at a bad time. I've nothing to report on the exercise front i did plan to do some yesterday but i'm in the middle of doing something else (as usual) but i'm definitely going to do the 20 minute Pilates routine today :) Emily..that is probably the reason why you lost the post (using too many smileys) the max used to be 8..anymore than that and you got a warning that you'd used to many and to go back and change it but when you go back you've lost your post  hope you both get back today.. WAVE...LOL i'm not taking any chances! |
Just did 2 miles on the weightloss program :D i'm "considering" doing the Pilates now :chin:
|
:hb: Happy Birthday to me!!
Been having a good few days in a row...baby steps...getting some water and walks in and no fast food. Had a fun day yesterday (celebrated a little early :) ) A friend took Brendan and Connor and Jim and I went for sushi and to the movie "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" very cute No big plans for today- I've already been to the grocery store twice... whoo-hoo  I'm going to enjoy my cake (and eat it too-haha) and move on. Hope you are all having a great day! Emily |
