Morning. Raining again in sunny Scotland - theres a big contradiction for you :cb:

My mind is whizzing at this early hour, is just before 7am, but am not tempted to go weigh barbells, would rather veg out with a cuppa and my book, but if I don't move my butt shortly school and work will be upon me before I know it.

Need to make a plan today to change my life, cut out the bits that aren't working, appreciate it is going to take a long time to change, can't do it over night, but work, my work, sucks and am I going to change things.

So my plan is to take over the world, lose more weight and get a new job and to win the lottery.

Need to go shower and come back down to reality :joker: :cb: :joker:

Need to plan a work out toooooooo

jelynn 05-30-2003 12:22 PM

Carol- nice plan!! I think I'll make that mine too...

Well, I"m just having a terrible time getting motivated for change. You would think the size skirt I had to buy yesterday would light a fire under my butt, but I'm really just too tired to care! And I rationalize that if I have a teeny baby people won't look at me and see "FAT"-- they will see "new mom- bit on the heavy side" - Yes, I know it's a big fat lie.

But I wanted to check in and say hi. June will be a good month to make some changes-- even if they are small.

Have a great weekend everyone!

EMily

cat90 05-30-2003 12:45 PM

Morning Ladies,
Has reality kicked in again Carol? i'm gonna win the lottery too but i don't want to take over the world Osama :s:  I'll bet your saying TGIF today are'nt you?

Hey Emily..i would'nt worry about the extra pounds yet..get yourself into a routine and when Ian's a little older and you're not so tired you can concentrate on getting yourself back to babeville :D

I'm down 2.5lbs this week :cb: now i've just got to make sure i stay on plan over the weekend :)

Hi Terry,Pam,Dahlia,Meg and Everyone Else..hope you are having good days :)

Cool Mom 05-31-2003 05:35 AM

Morning!

Hope all is well -- didn't get a chance to post yesterday. Cathy -- awesome on the weight loss!! :) And, Carol and Em, when you are ready to commit, you will. It's not easy no matter how hard we try.

Well, I have a very good reason to lose weight now and I have over a year to do it in too .....

Katie celebrated her 23rd birthday on Thursday. Stu made her climb a mountain in the pouring rain and when they reached the top, he proposed and gave her a ring. He was determined to do it his way rain or shine!

My mom had given her her engagement ring and Stu was able to sneak the ring out of her jewelry box and have the stone reset for Katie. She's psyched! The wedding won't be until July 2004 and they are thinking two ceremonies -- one up at Mt Sunapee (outside) in New Hampshire and the other in the church that his parents got married in in England. He was born in England and has tons of family there.

DH wants them to have a church wedding (we're Catholic and he's not) but I said to butt out -- it's her wedding and kids should do things for themselves and not to please their parents. I was always trying to please my dad up until the day he died and that's not good. And, knowing Katie, she'll change her mind a zillion times in a year!

So that's my exciting news and I love him to pieces so we're happy.

So that means I need to get very serious about weight loss. Except for yesterday, I did well all week so the rush is on!

Actually, I am going to look into the South Beach Diet (low carb) as a jump start. Anyone hear anything about it?? Did some research but I do love bread and pasta so I don't know .....

OK, woke up a bit too early for a Saturday morning so it's back to bed I go .... see you all later, gators!

Always, Terry

Dahlia 05-31-2003 07:24 AM

Good morning ladies,

Terry, congrats on your daughters engagement... I do hope your daughter enjoys climbing...sounds like she will be doing a bit of it in her lifetime... how cool a wedding in England, will you go there for it too? I'm also catholic and so far two of my sons have married, one in a methodist church and the other outside in a Japanese garden in Calif... both were lovely ceremonies, and like you said it's their weddings and lives... not what I had dreamt of for my children, but oh well, they are happy, so am I..

I am still working long hours, but so far am still doing good... I have lost a total of 10.5 pounds so far this month...I think I have found my woe....it's all portion control...cause I have still been eating everything I want... just within reason...a few bites instead of a whole thing.... I can enjoy it yet not feel quilty cause I ate to much of it... anyway hope I can continue thruough out the summer..

We have decided we are going to Calif, this fall, so I would like to be able to have a noticeable change by the time I get there...

Cat, your granddaughter is a little doll..what a cutie... aren't grandbabies great? I just love mine to pieces.. can't wait to see the one in Calif..again... haven't seen him since Christmas and he just turned 3... we talk on the phone quite a bit... he is not very chatting though.. unlike his 2 yr old cousin... now she will call me up and just chat for an hour... but when she is done, she is done... so funny.

Well, despite all the work and the long hours, I am still in a good mood..this losing sure helps the attitude....as well as the way I feel physically... I have a problem with my muscles in my legs, but seeing a doc on tuesday, hopefully will get some answers.

Ok, well gotta run... have to open at 8 am today... starting tomorrow new hours, only 9 to 6 monday thru sat.. so will have a day off.

hello to everyone.. and hope you all have an op weekend.

Good morning ladies,

Terry what absolutely exciting news! I know you love Stu and I'm so happy for Katie and him. Give her our congratulations.

Cat, the pictures of Olivia, oh my heavens she's adorable. Cheeks that just beg to be smooched. She sure gets around doesn't she?

Dahlia, you sound so positive and upbeat. Thank you for posting...you are exactly what I needed this morning. I am ashamed to say I've gained two pounds and I know why but that doesn't make me any happier either. Focus, Focus, Focus.

Things here are relatively quiet so that's nice. My next class starts next week so the madness begins again :) Work is quite busy right now too but hopefully not for too much longer. Erwin's Dad is gettng settled in now and they've moved him to another floor where there are more alert people. They felt he didn't belong in the dementia ward so that's encouraging news.

Well off to grab a shower and take my fur babies in for their grooming today. Dandelions are taking over again so I'll spend an hour outside weeding. It's lovely here today so I'd like to get out and enjoy it.

Have a wonderful weekend all,

Pam

Morning Ladies

Terry that is fantastic news about Katie :D what did Stu think of the pic of Princess Katie? did he like it? i might have to look for a bride now :s:

Pam..Good news about your FIL :)

Dahlia..glad you found what works for you :)

I have'nt exercised for 2 days so i'll have to do something today, hubby is out so now would be the perfect time but i'm not really in the mood  I've not had breakfast yet either so it might end up becoming lunch  don't know if i can face twisting up into a pretzel today so i might just treadmill

Cool Mom 06-01-2003 11:45 PM

Yo!

Thanks for all the congratulations for Katie and Stu -- I couldn't resist and bought her some wedding planner books in Borders yesterday :) . I never realized he was so romantic either! I do hope they decide on just one service here in the states though (he's from Rugby, England, Cathy).

Pam and Dahlia, so good to hear from you two. And, yes, Dahlia, it's smart to mind our own business when it comes to religion. It's their life and their marriage and as long as they are happy, what more can I ask for. And they are happy so all is well.

I am starting a new diet Tuesday -- the South Beach Diet. Anyone ever hear of it? I read the book over the weekend and it sounds very doable. It reminds me of the old WW "exchange program" which really limited the carbs and promoted early weight loss. It's fully described in Prevention magazine and I think this will take you there if anyone is interested: http://www.prevention.com/cda/featur...5352,00.htmld:

It promotes healthy eating -- the right carbs and the right fats -- and is neither low fat nor low carb. Really excited about it too.

Pam, I was happy to hear that they moved Erwin's dad to a better ward -- maybe he will make some new friends too. And, don't worry about 2 lbs -- just watch it for a week or so and they will be gone. Everyone gains -- it's not letting it get out of hand that is so important.

Howdy Cathy! I just saw all kinds of emails coming thru just now -- you're a busy beaver tonight!

Ok, ladies, time to call it a day and get some shut eye. See you all in the AM and sweet dreams!

Terry

Dahlia 06-02-2003 07:42 AM

Good morning,

Well, the sun is shining it is suppose to reach 70 today... that should bring them out, also having a perennial sale. We are getting sold out of many plants. That is good. We have more things coming up in the greenhouses to sell later... so I should have enough things to keep selling till the 4th of July....that was my plan... then make shorter hours if need be....

My son was home over the weekend, as was my others son gf.. her brothers graduated, one from college one from high school. Her parents divorce could be final today...she has lived with us whenever she is home from college for the past 3 years now.. she is almost like my daughter...so had a house full... but they both left now.. This was the son who had back surgery, he had a follow up with the doc last friday.. the doc says he has improved even more than he thought he would.. so that is good news.

Had a swarm of bees in my house twice this past week. They are building a hive right above my kitchen door over the deck. But don't know why they are coming into the house... dh says it's because I am so sweet... But I am allergic to bee stings, so is a dangerous situation..

I ate more yesterday than I should have, the kids brought me some cake from the party... and I made strawberry shortcake. But this morning I am still within my new perimeters.. so is ok. Just had a smoothie this morning with fat free yogurt... so now my goal is to be under 200 by the 4th of July... since I reached my first goal, I know it is doable... so I am very determined.

Well, best be getting ready for work. Hello to everyone, and have a super duper *OP* day..

Dahlia

Good morning ladies :)
We had Ian's blessing at our church yesterday so had a busy weekend getting ready for that. Both our parents were here and also one of JIm's brothers family. It was a nice day and I managed feeding everyone.
We also bought a King-sized bed last week(YAY!!!) and Connor a single so spent several hours moving furniture around getting rooms organized (not quite there, but close) I have an official "guest room" now so here's an open invitation to y'all to visit :)

Dahlia- good news about your son's back recovery! Sounds like you had a busy weekend too- fun to have guests though eh?

Terry- a belated congratulations to Katie and Stu! That is so exciting- a wedding to plan...Haven't had a chance to look at that diet, but plan to. I'm looking at "God's Diet"- anyone heard of that? It's a plan of whole foods, nothing processed on *most* days. (if you can't dig it, pull it, pick it or kill it its off limits- lol ) I feel like I need to do something semi-structured to get me started here.

Pam- great news about Erwin's dad being moved. I'm sure being with more alert people will be more stimulating and helpful to his health. And about those 2 lbs...you've got this down so there's nothing I can say, but "I know you can do it" :)

Cat- little Olivia is such a doll! When do you get to see her??

Well, I've just been informed that Ian is crying (need to find my monitor!!) so need to run.

Have a great day everyone!

Emily

cat90 06-02-2003 03:30 PM

Hi Ladies,
Emily i don't know when i will see the little doll :( depends if i make it home this year..i'm a bit wary with SARS and terrorism :( but it did'nt stop me last time so it probably won't this time either :D

Terry, thanks for the info..i will definitely check that out..i have heard of the diet but just dismissed it as "just another one"

Dahlia :yikes: i would have those bee's out of there pronto!! i run a mile if i even hear a buzz when i'm outside  never mind having them living above the kitchen door.

Its gorgeous today so its bikini top and shorts for me while i do some stuff outside :) its supposed to get even hotter as the week progresses :D

cat90 06-02-2003 03:33 PM

 just clicked on your link Terry and it says the page does'nt exist on Prevention.com..so i'll check out the site instead. BBL

Sammy01 06-02-2003 08:09 PM

Good Evening My Friends,

It's gray and dreary here today in Edmonton but that's alright as the rain is welcome. We got the bedding plants put in yesterday after the morning rain so it was a nice time to do it and of course the soil was great to work with. I don't know how to much but it looks nice all the same. Planted some petunias, impatiens and marigolds.

Thanks for the support on the gain and Terry you are absolutely right...I'll make sure to exercise this week and not fall down on my water and hopefully Saturday will be a little more kind.

Terry, I'm going to check out that link on your new diet. You sound pumped and I wish you the best of luck on it. Once you put your mind to something you are unstoppable! Hugs to you chickie :)

Emily, your weekend sounded quite busy but I'm glad Ian's Blessing went well. Hard to believe it's that time already. Is he sleeping well yet or is it too soon for that? I'll probably annoy you with silly questions...that's what happens when one doesn't have children they forget how old kids are going through stages. Makenzie is only a year and I'm forgetting things already. She's now learned how to do one small stair outside without falling down so when she makes it she runs down the sidewalk clapping her hands. Really too cute! (okay, shamless Auntie plug)

Dahlia, good luck on the bees situation. So happy to hear your son has recovered so well. Must have been a busy weekend for you too but so nice to get a visit in with them all. Hope you had a great day,

Cathy, I hope it works out for you to get to see Olivia. Any chance they might make it over here? I saw the infomercial for Winsor Pilates and you are one ambitious woman. I'm glad you like it though. I bought the Pilates for Dummies video and hope that I'll get some balance one of these days...I'm not fond of flopping into the carpet all the time :dizzy:

Well speaking of exercise I guess it's getting to be that time where I join Leslie for a few miles. I've taken to jogging on the spot for a few minutes periodically and find it really increases my heart rate.

Have a wonderful evening and I'll see you tomorrow,

Pam

Hello all -

I have been working non-stop. sounds like you all have been well, and getting closer to goal weight:D

Terry, my girlfriend lost 6.5 pounds her first week on the South Beach Diet! She LOVES it.;)

I haven't been dieting. I am on hold until we move closer to my job. The commute is KILLING me. 1.5 hours on the expressway, each way. I leave at 6 in the morning, and after 5 at night - no lunch. That is why we need to MOVE!

We found an apt., but got a call today that there is a problem. With my luck they rented it to someone else.

Guess what - we got 2 new clients - WATP and The Firm!! Oh - and we also got that diet drug that costs $153. Pretty cool, huh. I couldn't believe it when they told me today. I will be sending emails to sell those products. (no, I don't spam people):s:

Hope you all are well -

Meg

Sammy01 06-02-2003 10:34 PM

Hi Meg,

I'm so happy to hear from you! I'm sure I'm not the only one who was wondering where you'd gotten too. Sounds like that commute is a real killer. I don't blame you for wanting to get closer to your job. Pretty exciting new clients I must say. I love WATP.

Keep your chin up and we'll be hoping that you get a place secured soon.

Take good care of you!

Pam
