Laura...the arm has it ups and downs...ba haha. Actually I went to the ortho doc on Thursday. He said it would be more like 8 weeks to heal rather than 6. No surprise to me, heck I am old, don't they know? I have this week and next for movement physical therapy then we start strength physical therapy. He wants to wait on the strength therapy so it can heal a bit more first. The xray did show some progress on healing but definitely needs a bit more healing time. It was just 4 weeks yesterday. I figure about the time I get to go see Baby boy graduate it should be healed. Thanks for asking sista chick!!
Annie - Since we're old, time flys by very quickly - you'll be all healed up in no time at all!
Update - I did get out for a walk at lunchtime. Walked a total of 2.4 miles to and from a fabric shop, where I bought a remnant for a sewing project. Got the heart pumping, but of course perspiration wasn't far behind. Thankfully, no meetings on the schedule this afternoon, LOL.
Morning all,
And yes it is still morning. I ran around like a mad thing this morning, changing the bed and getting a wash on. Got to love the invention of the automatic washing machine. You don't have to sit and watch it anymore. Well haven't had to for 20 years or so, but I can still remember the old one I had.
Work goes on and on. I'm constantly asked how long a course will take. How the heck do I know? I'm still trying to come to grips with a very verbal technical writer. And I'm constantly asked about procedures and processes. Well tell me where they are and what you have written - but they are right there in the files. Ummmm it seems that the link might be broken. So where are they? Dunno, but we will find them!
Laura, sounds like you had a nice but busy weekend. Isn't if amazing how fast a Saturday and Sunday go when the rest of the week drags?
Ceejay - those Toyotas are pretty much bomb proof and it is probably just a part wearing out or blocked up that is causing the problem. It's done a reasonable mileage so I would imagine that a few things will be undone or loose as well. Hope it is not too bad price wise for you.
Mel - hope you didn't get caught up in the Mayors hoo haa. Glad to hear you were left in peace. I told both DS that I have just about everything I need in this world so unless they are about to buy me the biggest diamond in the universe, don't bother to buy me anything. They took me at my word, they didn't. DS1 was worried that our Lizzie would not be happy if he nicked the 'Ko-I-Noor from her imperial crown anyway.
Michelle - don't doubt that you are feeling somewhat exhausted with you recent schedule. Now that it is done, DO NOT stop. Do one room per night or 15 minutes of cleaning something per night. You'll be surprised how little you have left to do over the weekend after a while - and that's always a big bonus.
Annie - what a great job to get off your list. It's a real pain having to clear out stuff that the ancestors kept - sometimes there is a gem among it all, but mostly it's just junk. Do not throwaway anything to do with family history. When you decide to dig up the rellies (not literally) you will be able to use all that stuff.
And with that I'd better be off to try and sort out the joys of the Technicians jobs. No one seems to have it down in cement about what exactly they are going to do.
I was up at 3:30 and at work by 5. It seems like the only way I'll get this project done is to put in extra hours, and my evenings are fairly booked this week...unfortunately not with Zumba (though I will be going tonight and hopefully Friday), so I'm up well before the roosters.
Yesterday came and went without any exercise. I took DMIL grocery shopping, and then mowed the front and back lawn. If we had a push mower, that could count as exercise...but not when I was on the riding lawn mower. Anyway, it was fun doing donuts around the trees!
We were supposed to get rain last night, but it held off until sometime around 3 am...just in time for me to be up and trying to get the dogs out.
Annie - It is difficult going through your parents stuff. Sounds like you got it sorted through though! Good for you! So nice of your SIL for keeping it light. Definitely keep on to any bits of family history your mom may have had. I'm glad you had such a nice mother's day with DD and DS's phone call. I'm very glad I'll be able to post while on vacay....it will definitely be helpful for me. Glad you had fun dancing at your brother's new band's show! I'm sure it was even better than a Zumba workout! YGG!! It's smart of your doc to hold off on the strength PT to allow more healing time.
Laura - Good for you for walking at lunch and getting an errand in! Way to multitask, girlfriend!! I was soooo busy at lunch, so I didn't walk. If it stops pouring and warms up, I might try and get out at lunch today...if the workload permits, which it probably won't.
Shad - Good luck finding the files! Bummer that your DS1 didn't give ya' the 'Ko-I-Noor, but wouldn't want him to end up in the Tower or worse, right.
Mel - Hope you have a good day today. Don't work too hard.
Hmmmm Tuesday Morning...rainy, chilly...and instead of 9-11 it 5-11 here today. We are having our layoff. Going from 25 to 12 and its not me but my heart is hurting and stomach is in a quandry.
Hi back at cha Ceejay.
Shad...all these people expect you to have answers to questions that they created long ago and you just got there. Better put on your miracle working hat.
Chelle....all this hard work and no play always leads to a great vacay....you deserve the best vacay ever.
Well my new boss will be the president out of Humana in Michigan. She will be in Michigan, I will be in Indiana. That kind of makes me leary. I think I will start looking for a new job asap. My current boss has been let go. 60 days of employment til July 12. I am just not seeing my job as viable or effective at the moment. Maybe there are other things in store for me, but I am not sure. I really don't feel all that badly only for those who are now no longer employed. I am just babbling as I am freaked a bit. Tomorrow is a new day, and all will be good.
and really, God only dishes out what we can handle. Who eactly determines WHAT we can handle, cause in my books I am so over this handling thing. I try to remain positive but some days are harder than others. Truly other than experiencikng the BS in life, my life is not that bad. Just obstacles to hurdle over. SOrry babbling again.
Hi everyone! Dreary (drizzily, windy, chilly) day today. Got out at lunch, but didn't go very far.
Shad - You sound frustrated. Hope that eases up. Yeh, vacation days and weekend days are over before you know it and work days just crawl.
Hi Ceejay!
Michelle - Sorry you didn't get your Zumba in last night. For someone whose alarm is set to 6:00 am, a 3:30 am wake up time is quite the nightmare! How long will you have to do that? You will definitely need your vacation by the time it comes around. Bf would be jealous of your riding mower, lol.
Annie - Big changes at work! I know from experience that having a "remote boss" is not an easy thing. So your current boss will still be with you until July? Do the other layoffs in your office take place immediately? You're fortunate to still have a job (well, 2 jobs) and you can look for something else while still employed. I'm sure it's sad to see so many co-workers losing their jobs. I've heard the saying that God doesn't give you more than you can handle. I hope this doesn't sound too horrible... but why would he still give one person so much, even when you can handle it, are currently handling it? Go ahead and babble, we're here for you!
Hey Mel - Hope you're not working too hard!!
Yesterday I came home and did one BE show. Our pbs station is now showing a different series of BE shows - an older series that's been recently close-captioned, as required by pbs (and which is probably required by the Fed. govt.) I'm excited to start recording it and then get it on dvd. Just have to figure out the technical part of that, lol. I'm skipping the movie tonight - it's the Jennifer Lopez in "Back-up Plan". I'll probably work on sorting and purging my paperwork and watch American Idol.
The bathroom tap saga continues - the plumbing underneath is causing problems. Sigh. I've agreed to host the next book club since it's been two years (!!!) since I last hosted. Nothing much else to report, so I'll post.
Annie - Big hugs to you my sista! I totally get what you mean about "who determines what we can handle". When I was going through the loss of my parents and my friend and other stuff...I kept thinking...if God only gives us as much as we can handle...I think He's overestimating my abilities. I think you're wise to start looking for something else. Doesn't the president have an assistant in Michigan? So sad about your co-workers, including your boss. Layoffs are tough for everyone. you go ahead and vent/babble as much as you want to, sweetie.
Laura - Hope you have a nice evening. So cool about the new/old BE shows. Bummer about the bathroom tap. I hope it gets fixed before you start hosting book club.
HAPPY WEDNESDAY CHICKS. FEELING A BIT TIRED AND EYE WEARY SO THIS WILL BE SHORT. IT'S RAINING HERE AND A GREAT DAY TO CLOSE THE PEEPERS, CUDDLE UP AND TAKE A MORNING NAP. HOPE EVERYONE IS FINE. I'LL TRY AND CATCH UP ON FRIDAY. TOMORROW IS TRADER JOE'S AND SPENDING THE DAY WITH JEN. THEY LEAVE FOR FLORIDA FRIDAY EARLY MORN AND WILL BE BACK NEXT MONDAY. RICHIE'S DD'S BIG BIRTHDAY BASH. NO COMMENT. :rof:
STAY WELL AND BE HAPPY
Yesterday was very stressful. But an hour of Zumba sure did help sweat away the stress. I got up at 3:15 today and got to work at 4:40. I think I could use an IV of coffee - I'm so darn sleepy. DMIL and I are going to take the dogs to the vet today for their booster shots.
Mel - Put on your softest PJs and enjoy your relaxing day. We've had rain the past couple days...and I wanted to stay inside under the covers and take a nap with the doggies. So nice that you'll get to spend some time with Jen before she leaves for Florida.
Hump Day....dark, gloomy, rainy, windy, one yuck of a day. Would love to roll up under the covers as MELLIE is doing. Even with the dogs that CHELLE mentions. Warm and cuddly.
Just got in. Had PT this morning. Told the PT that my arm has ached, non-stop since Sunday. So she put these electrodes on my shoulder/arm that vibrated/tingled the heck outta of it. It has helped tremendously relieve some of the pain.
Chelle..nuttin like kickin arse at work so you can go on vacation later. Doesn't seem quite fair....
MELLIE....rest those eyes and body. Feel better, happy Trader Joes!!
Laura...I think I would skip the JLo movie too. Just doesn't seem that interesting to me. Maybe it is...
Not much else going on, brought in cucumber starts to several people today, as I had an overload of them. Don't know what I was thinking when I planted them. Duh.
Hey everyone. Another crummy weather day here, but at least it wasn't raining during my commute. Did 1 BE yesterday, then bf and I took doggy for a short walk. The BE show I tried to record on our dvd recorder/hard drive didn't record. I still haven't dug up the user manual to see what settings/connections are needed. So today I've got our dvr/cable box set to record it.
Watched the end of TBL last night. A real drama fest. But the weekly losses! One guy lost 12 lbs, another 10. The lowest loss was 2 lbs, which is considered safe. I also watched part of the hockey game w/ BF. The Hawks have made it to the next round...
Mel - Have a wonderful cozy nap and rest those peepers! We have a great nap day here too. I may just have to crawl under the desk. Have a great TJs & Jen day tomorrow.
Annie - Hope that electro shock PT keeps you out of pain for a while! I'd gotten so spoiled w/ my seedlings doing well the past several years that I plant very few. Then this year they're just not doing well, and I even had to start more seeds last week. I may not get tomatoes this year since they'll be so late going in! Or I should just get my keister over to the garden center and buy a tomato plant.
Michelle - I hope your weekend isn't jam packed - you're going to need that time to rest.
Hellos to Shad, Happy & Ceejay!!

Reason: typos!
Annie - Aren't those electrodes marvelous for pain relief. DH and I have a home unit called a TENS that he sometimes uses on his knee and I use on my back when it flares up. Not only do they aid in pain relief, but they can speed healing. I wish I were there so I could get one of your cuke starts.
Laura - Have you already planted outside? I usually wait until Memorial Day...just to be sure we're done with frost. We had a frost warning two nights last week. Bummer that your BE didn't record. I saw part of TBL where the contestants were lugging their lost weight up a hill or something? Yikes! Are the Hawks going to be playing the Sharks? Coming from San Jose, my DMIL is a big Sharks fan; DH and I are Pittsburgh Penguins fans of course. They have Game 7 tonight, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I don't know what our plans are for the weekend. Saturday is DH's b'day, so I imagine, we'll either go fishing or to the hardware store to get stuff he needs to build his darkroom in the basement.
