Evening all,
I've figured out Cinco de Mayo. The one day in history that the Mexicans beat the French in a fight! The wonders of history.
Not much to report today. Too much work and too little time. Nothing new there, but I'm not going to stress over it anymore. I shall do what I can and no more or no less. It's life.
Happy - hope you enjoy your holiday. I think it is today you are going away. I put the Czech/ Cheque/ Cheque in the mail today. Nice bloke in the Post Office relieved me of $2.10 and said, I'll put this in the box for you - no problem. For that price, I reckon he should have delivered it to the mail centre!
Enjoy the family too.
Over here, we get told not to seal basic stuff like cards which are going to the States. Apparently, there is a trend to send some interesting stuff such as money and other goodies wrapped in foil inside a card. My bank tells me that the US is now officially the worst place to send money to via the bank. She reckons it is just crazy out there. So your birthday card didn't get sealed. I figured the postal people could all do with a laugh anyway.
Mel - loved that graphic with the cat wanting morning to go away. Feel sorry for the bloke on the phone. I can't imagine what you said to him.
Michelle - you will be looking forward to the bloke coming home - even if you haven't got the housework done yet. Looking forward to seeing the photos of sunsets and waterfalls.
Annie - there is no rhyme nor reason for layoffs these days. People just don't have much of a chance. Sad thing is that those left behind often have to do twice as much work after they are gone and they darent' complain since they might end up going the same way.
Laura - Owie on the knee. Hope it feels better soon. Nice to have a day off once in a while.
The walk to work challenge is going fine. I'm quite enjoying it. I walk from the city down to the river, then along the river back and finally back up to the suburb of Milton and wander through an 'Italian' walled centre, grab a coffe and yoghurt and walk down to work. It's quite pleasant and I only get run over by bicycles and not traffic. I'm always amazed at the variety of people out there walking, running, sprinting and speed cycling. They are young and old as well. I'm taking the odd photo of my journey from time to time and will show you my walk when I get the time.
Ceejay - sounds like you had a busy sort of a day of it. We've been watching the news over here to see where the flooding is going. Oh dear, I should fee sorry for Keith Urban - he's not certain, but he is pretty sure he has lost his guitar collection. My heart bleeds. Cynic that I am. At least they donated some cash towards the victims who lost their homes.
The DS2 is whingeing about his job. Has been for ages. I just keep telling him to leave the damn thing. Finally he is talking about it. I think the last straw arrived yesterday when he pointed out some hazards and reasons why he can not get the budgetted tonnage out of the mill and basically got told to suck it up and get on with the job. I think he should go out and get temporary work and then he can become unemployable like me.
Anyway I had better get out of here and get on with the day/ night and the dreaded list of things to do.
See ya
