  • Howdy ladies,

Happy Memorial Day - thanks to all the servicemen and women who take care of us - hmmm no patriotic smilies

  • Ok, maybe the sisters will add this one to our Smilie List.

I am still feeling cruddy. This bug really tires you out. Yesterday DH and I worked in the yard weeding and cleaning up. It's time to open the pool - DH said maybe this week. He got bit by some bugs and I got sunburn. We went out for BBQ for dinner. Did find some tile for the bath - ordered a bigger sample so we can see the markings in the tile. I found a trim I really liked and everything works off of that.

Scrolling doorbell system? Mel I think you need to be off the list. Hope you have a quiet day. Those BP meds must be pretty potent stuff - you're not the first I heard who went on a wild rollercoaster because of them. Glad you are calmed down. How are the peepers? I like those teacup planters.

Shad - we always said the worse the medicine tastes, the better it works. Which is why my cotton candy stuff might be taking longer to do the trick And we know your honey is better than ours so I'm not surprised it made you feel better. Back to work and you'll forget all about being sick. Glad the DS got the house rented. Hope they are good tenents.

Ceejay - don't work too hard. Hopefully it will be quiet.

Laura, Annie, Michelle - hope you are all out and about enjoying your weekend.

DH is ready to go to the home improvement store - need to pick up some herbs, supplies and a tomato plant. Going to try growing one of those upside down planters and you have to have a medium sized tomato plant, not the big beefsteak ones I normally favor.

Hummingbirds are back too. Summer is here. Enjoy the last day of May.
  • Shad - glad your meds are helping w/ the throat. Can't believe June is here already!! Congrats to ds on renting the house. The joys of landlordship.

Happy - Sorry the bug's still bugging you. A dip in a pool sounded really good yesterday. Let us know how the upside down tomato planter works out.

Ceejay - Ugh, hope you got everything moved for the new flooring. And you get to move it all back after the floor's installed. Oh the fun.

Mel - Glad your weekend's been sane. We've got cool weather & scattered storms today. Hope you've got milder temps coming your way this week.

Michelle & Annie - Hope you're both having a good weekend!

My weekend has been a lot of work in the yard. Sat. bf and I tilled the veggie patch and I planted the tomatoes and peppers (bought anaheim and serrano plants). Hope we'll be having homemade salsa this summer! I laid down weed cloth and fenced it in, so it's all set.

Sunday I tilled the "runway" between the fence and the flower border, raked the weeds out, applied the Preen weed stuff, and laid down more weed cloth. The tiller is very handy, but it wore me out. The rest of the day was spent relaxing.

Today it's been stormy, so I've been reading and doing laundry. I've also been messing w/ my BE recordings. I'm a bit concerned because the audio volume on the pbs station that airs the BE shows is extremely low. I might contact the station to see what's up.

Well, that's about it, so I'll get this posted. Enjoy what's left of your Monday/Tuesday.
  • Funny you should say that Laura since I've been finding the sound on our satellite pay tv very low recently as well. I was beginning to think I might have to turn up the hearing aids!. British programs have long been a PIA for hearing, now everything else is going the same way.
Sounds like you had fun in the garden this weekend. The wee wild tomato I found in DS2's front garden is thriving in my yard. I noticed over the weekend that it had a flower. May have to go around with a feather duster to ensure fertilisation next weekend since the bugs have almost disappeared for the winter.

Happy - seems like our bugs are headed for your place. Good luck with that. The tiles sound pretty good. Happy tiling days.

Mel - scrolling doorbell. Visions of 'da fuzz' peering into the gloom watching a doorbell scrolling interests me. I can just hear them muttering away.

So I am back at work but for how long I don't know. I literally crawled out of bed this morning and it took real effort to get to my feet. The nose has decided to run and the sandpaper effect is back. However the coughing is now loose and sounds revolting. I just feel washed out. Maybe I should just take some work home and sit in the sun with it.

Anyway, apart from that, all is well in the world downunder - which is probably more than we can say for the wildlife and beaches of Louisiana etc. A whole lot of people losing their livelihoods doesn't make for good economic sense either.
Perhaps we should find a way around the oil situation and make things run on rapeseed oil or water. I feel fairly certain that we should not allow people to drill for stuff in a place where a human can not be sent to fix it. I hope the Governor of Lousiana and Alabama are putting together claims for damages. It nearly broke me last night to see a wildlife ranger with tears pouring down his face, put an oil covered dead turtle into a black plastic bag.
  • A brief note to say all is well in my corner of the world. Was blasted with a pop up storm earlier this afternoon. One of my bosses came up today to get the time sheets ready for tomorrow. Nearly scared me to death. It has been quiet and I'm thankful for it. I've had a few calls but nothing like I was expecting.

    Shad and Happy
    get well soon.

    Mel
A scolling door bell and the cops are having trouble finding you. hmmm.

    Laura
You are getting in your exercise the fun way by working in the garden.

    Michelle and Annie
The week end is about over enjoy what you have left.

  • Happy June - I don't have enough time to start a new thread this morning. Perhaps if my meetings end and I actually get a lunch break I will do it.

Have a good Tuesday - see yah later...
  • It's June, do we have a new blogger spot yet? Jumppin' Jivin' Jigglin' into June
  • Or....Worldlies are Jumpin', Jivin' and Jazzin' Away the Jiggly Bits in June!
  • or our Jiggly JITS
  • Hey everyone! Happy June 1.

Ceejay - Glad all is well in your corner of the world. Re gardening - I guess once I get used to being hot, sweaty, and grimy, it's alright, lol.

Shad - Sorry you're feeling washed out. Working at home (with naps interspersed) sounds good. You're absolutely right - if they don't know how to fix this horrible problem in the Gulf, and didn't imagine such a scenario of this magnitude in their disaster planning, they had no business being there.

Mel - Enjoy your quiet haven today. I've e-mailed the tv station with my volume complaint - we'll see what happens.

Hellos to Happy, Annie and Michelle!

    Back to work now.
  • Since my tummy now sticks out more than my JITS, I don't want to lose any more of my JITS...just my other jiggly bits.
  • Hi everyone -

I had such a wonderful long weekend! I did not get near a computer from Friday through Monday. We didn't get out fishing, but I was busy and very active. No Zumba for this chick though....just lots of walking and gardening/working in the yard. I bought tomato, cucumber, yellow squash, zucchini and lettuce for my veggie garden, and also lots of flowers. I am really looking forward to an hour of Zumba tonight, along with Pilates, abs and strength training.

I am so excited for my trip. I leave a week from tomorrow! I know I will have to walk A LOT there and get in LOTS of exercise.

I've got lots to catch up on at work...so I've got to keep this short.

Annie - I do track what I eat every day and count my points. I think I just need to find a better balance of how many of my extra weekly allowance and exercise points I can eat. This weekend, my eating was pretty darn good in terms of points. Though I did have a couple Gatorades due to the heat. Truth be told, I am feeling very frustrated and depressed right now. I've been serious about this for nearly a year, and have only 26 lbs to show for it. And I'm realizing that while I can tell I've lost weight...I was probably thinner when I last saw my Southern California relatives six years ago...so they'll probably think I've put on a ton.

Laura - My pink peonies are in full bloom as well. The white peonies are still at the bud stage. We were watching the weather yesterday cuz we were supposed to get big storms like you did. But it was just muggy. All the storms stayed to the south. We're going to get our storms tonight and tomorrow.

Shad - Glad to hear your son is doing so well at his new job. Did Happy give you her virus? That's way too generous of her. Congrats to your son on getting the house rented. As for the TV, it does seem like certain stations are getting softer, but then of course the volume for commercials is ear shattering. It is SOOO sad what is happening to the wildlife of the Gulf Coast. It breaks my heart to watch it, both for the loss of sea creatures and loss of livelihoods.

Mel - Hope you had a nice relaxing weekend and are feeling better. The tea cup herb gardens are beautiful!

Ceejay - Hopefully the MRI will produce some good results. Did you have a nice quiet weekend at work?

Happy - I hope you're feeling better. It's no fun to be sick, especially in the summer and on a long weekend. Sounds like you worked hard all weekend and didn't get much rest. Hopefully the Vit. D you got from being outdoors will help you kick this bug. We haven't seen hummingbirds yet...but we have had lots of other birds and butterflies. Oh, and a 300 lb. black bear has been seen in the town just north of us (about 20 miles away). Hopefully he stays up there. What a coincidence...we are trying an upside down tomato planter for the first time as well. I'm using a variety called Patio (which is a compact, bushy plant that yields LOTS of medium size tomatoes). I've had LOTS of success growing Patio tomatoes right side up; we'll see how they do upside down.

I've got lots to get done so I'd better get to it. Happy June everyone!

    Love and hugs to all,
  • Happy June to Everyone!!!

Chelle...now, now, let's not get depressed and down about the weight loss. Let us look at the bright side.....being down 26 lbs is a heck of a lot better than being up 26 or MORE for the year. That is a lot to be proud of and happy about. Besides you really didn't work at it for the full year....so that even makes it a better success.....Plus the fact you have picked up some GREAT exercise habits that you LOVE...Ms. Zumba Queen! You R.O.C.K.,so just get happy and forget it about it. Hugs my sista.

Ceejay...glad work and storms are not blowing you away. We are expected to have rain all week including the weekend. Not looking forward to that. Actually had too much rain the garden is turning a bit yellowish.

Laura...work work work....time to play. Your flowers sound lovely. I planted a few impatience this past week or so ago. Only about 6 plants. Enough to give a bit of color to the flower bed along with the moss rose.

MELLIE...eyes doing better now? Just rest, my friend til completely healed.

Shaddie...not to mention the poor birdies that are completely covered with oil and can barely waddle much less even think about flying. It is so sad. Breaks my heart. I think they are trying a lot of different ideas to get the oil leak stopped but none are working. My biggest complaint is they are not moving fast enough and waiting too long to try things. We are like in week 6 and it takes them forever to start something new. I know, no one can hear me.

Happy...Sorry you are still feeling crappy. Wish I lived closer I would help with the yard work. I love being out in it, but have nothing else to do in my own little bitty yard. I am great at opening/closing pools as we had an inground for 16 years while married to the dumb*ss.

Went to a graduation and party for a friend's daughter. It was very nice however very hot. No air cond in the gym, then the party was outside. Hot and sweaty. Learned a little girl (sister to a boy my DS graduated with) had a all terraine accident the day of the graduation. She died as a result. Only 15 years old and going to be a sophomore at the high school. Her dad is the principal at the same high school, her mom a teacher at another high school in the area. Very sad.

Dad got disoriented going home from my house yesterday. He ended up out in the country about 15 miles east of my house. His car broke down. An older couple stopped to help him. Thank God. He used their cell phone to call my brother. My brother went and picked him up and had his car towed to a garage. I guess now we get to worry about my dad. I couldn't tell yesterday if dad was just off while at my house or severely depressed as he was very quiet. Probably a little bit of both.

Better get back to work. Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday or like me a messed up Monday..lol.

    Hello's to all,

    love and hugs,.
