Hey Julia welcome back! And Happy New Year!!! We missed you.

I like your plan for 1kg/month. It's very reachable, and I'll give you as much support as I can along the way.

I've lost some of that Christmas excess - I dropped 1.1kg this week , and am back down to 72.8kg. I also added another 45km to my virtual walk across Australia.

This week will be a challenge. I'm now off work until Sunday, the weather is hot in Perth this week, and I need to find a way to get enough exercise to maintain my momentum.

I'd really like to get close to 72kg by the end of January - that's the goal I have in my head… so we'll see.

Me to. This time next week I want to be 75.5kg Yep I've put on again. I drop i gain i drop i gain. This is getting ridiculous. And depressing. Considering I've cut my sugar in cuppas to only 1 instead of 2. AND that is something I swore i would NEVER give up lol. Must drink more water.

Kel have you thought about counting your calories? Even if you do it for a week it will give you an idea of what's going on.

You might not be eating too much food - it may be that you're just eating stuff that is heavy in calories. Also, pizza is full of salt so I reckon you might be retaining some fluid.

Seriously, I probably eat more than you - the thing is though that I pile my plate full of green stuff, then add smaller amounts of meat, cheese etc - so I get really filling meals that don't cost me too much in calories.

For dinner tonight I'm making two salads - and I will grill some chicken or something to go with it. But I have a massive salad bowl full of lettuce, spinach, cucumber, capsicum, spring onion and cherry tomato. And another with grated carrot and chopped beetroot. Really filling - costs me little in terms of calories.

Kel perhaps you should sit down and work out a plan. Think about why things are going to be different this time and how you're going to make it happen. Things you've tried recently haven't worked so time for something different maybe?

I'm going back to basics and getting back to what I know will work - eating sensibly, keeping a food diary and exercising regularly.

I weighed in yesterday and have gained 2kg over the Christmas period so I'm looking forward to getting that off and keeping it off. One thing that's shocked me is my measurements ... despite only gaining 2kg, my measurements have gone up considerably - by 6cm in some places!!

Over the past 6 months I've done exactly what you say Vonni - I lose, I gain, I lose, I gain. Pointless! I put in so much effort to undo the damage I've done only to do the same damage all over again.

Yesterday was a perfect day. I was really good with my food, allowed myself just 2 chocolates after dinner last night and then brushed my teeth straight away so that I wasn't tempted to have any more! Went to the gym and although it was really hard, I did 30 minutes of weights and a 45 minute aerobics class.

Today will be another perfect day. I've got my meals all planned out and will go to the gym tonight.

Julia in many ways I've had the same problem over the last twelve months. I would lose a kilo, gain a bit, have to lose it again, gain some more, lose a kilo… It's the reason I have started setting myself a goal of trying to be consistent.

Yesterday I set myself a very different challenge. I sat down and wrote a series of questions and challenged myself to keep a journal about it throughout January and see if I could find the answers. On the surface they are pretty easy questions, but not once I started looking for really honest answers.

Here they are (I don't know if anyone is interested, but you know me - I like to waffle ).

1. What do I eat? What influences my decision to eat this particular food right now? Is it availability, access, fuel, emotions - or something else?

2. How do I eat it? Do I pay attention while I'm eating and chew every mouthful? Do I taste it or just inhale?

3. Where do I eat? Do I set the table or just blob in front of the TV or computer? Do I eat in my car, standing up somewhere?

4. Why am I eating this? Am I actually hungry, does my body need fuel? Am I feeding some emotion? Am I doing it because friends are, and I might miss out if I don't stuff my face? Is it convenient? Am I too lazy to cook right now?

5. Am I able to tell when I am actually hungry for food? Do I know when it is a need for fuel? Do I confuse it with a craving for fluid? And do I wait until I'm hungry before I eat?

6. How do I feel after I have eaten this meal? Am I stuffed, nicely full? Still hungry? Do I feel tired? Energetic?

I don't know what I'm going to learn from all of this, but I am hoping it will give me some insight into my behaviour around food, and help me to form better life-long habits.

Anyway I had better stop waffling and get out and mow the lawn before it gets too hot!

Don't stop posting Kel! Coming here is a great way of keeping accountable and we'd miss you if you disappeared!

Vonni what a pain to be woken up early at least they didn't cause any trouble though.

I had a great day yesterday. Did great with my eating and did 55 minutes cardio at the gym.

Today I'm going to do circuit based weights and 20 minutes cardio at the gym and then I'm going out for dinner with a friend. I chose for us to go to a vegan restaurant which I know does really great, healthy food.

Where is Amy? Have I missed that she's gone on holiday or something or is she AWOL???

Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm with Julia - Kel don't leave us! This is a great place to help you work through the things you're thinking, and to get support from everyone.

Vonni a few chips won't hurt you - it's only when you have them every day, or when they become an excuse to eat more that they sabotage the good work you are doing.

Julia - woo hoo! I love your strength and discipline, it's inspiring.

I don't know where Amy is - or Kylie or Barb for that matter.

Lindor what are you up to? Finished packing? Cleaning? Melted in the heat?

I spent yesterday mowing, pruning and pottering in the garden. Today I need to turn my attention to the inside of the house, as the landlord will be here for a house inspection tomorrow.

I'm travelling pretty well with food and water this week. Just need to keep it up, and maintain my level of physical activity and I'll be OK.

I'm here...I'm still packing....I am still melting away...and really can't be bothered cleaning in these conditions!!!

And today I am doing nothing!!! It's my birthday and I refuse to do jack...!!!

The airconditioner is permanently dead!!! Cannot be fixed, needs to be replaced, cannot be replaced for at least a week!!! Ugh!

I am not getting a heck of a lot of sleep due to the heat and the fact that the air conditioner in the bedrooms is about as noisy as a Harley Davidson motorcycle!! And it is not a constant noise, it clunks and shakes every time it cycles on and off!!

Diet has turned to sh*t...again. I am often too buggered to prepare a salad or something suitable at the end of the day so find it easier popping into the shop on they way home from work!

I am getting a surprise farewell afternoon tea tomorrow at work. Funny, I have now discovered the people who can't keep secrets at work...the ones who have told me about the afternoon tea that I am not supposed to know about!!!

Anway, figured I'd pop in and say hi!

Kel, you CANNOT stop posting!! That is just stupid!

Julia, good to see you back here and glad you had an awesome break!

Four sleeps left here!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDOR!!! I hope you have a great day and that you can stick to your plan of doing nothing!

Christchurch is finally getting some hot weather too. It was 34 degrees yesterday and looks like it may get to something similar today. I love it! Probably just because it's pretty rare I guess. Forecast for rain and bad weather during the weekend which pi**es me off ... beautiful weather while I'm at work and rubbish when I'm not!

Went to the gym last night and it was soooo revolting and hot and muggy - no aircon and it was a tough workout. Struggled through 30 minutes of weights circuit and a 20 minute run. Was POOPED after that!

Went out for dinner and had a delicious medeterranian salad and one glass of wine and I'm pretty sure that I was bang on for my points allowance for the day.

No gym today so the goal for the day will be to stick to my points.

It's going to be 37ºC here today. My house inspection is less than four hours away and I still haven't cleaned. Don't worry, I set the alarm for 6am so I could get up and have a mad domestic frenzy this morning .

How many more sleeps now Lindor? It's too exciting! And enjoy that 'surprise' afternoon tea today.

My plan for today is to drink plenty of water, eat no more than 1600 calories, and hope the landlord doesn't increase my rent by too much .
