Haha.. I always thought it was a blessing in disguise that I was tall.. It's all about height being an optical illusion lol

Age ain't nothing but a number!! lol

meowee 04-28-2008 06:32 PM

Hey, don't mind me . . . this is just one of those days when I feel extremely vertically challenged . . . seems everything I tried to do today had me dragging out the step-stool to get to an upper shelf.

JuliaDH 04-28-2008 07:42 PM

Welcome Fauxtini!

Just came back from a cold baseball practice. 3 kids on 3 teams will keep me busy for the next 6 weeks!

Halichick 04-28-2008 09:36 PM

Fauxtini!! Glad you found us!! I agree with meowee, I think you're beautiful and you don't look like you're even 200 lbs. ;)

I went 1 carb off plan today *bad danielle* I was starving and wanted some bread LOL I'll get back on the wagon tomorrow. I have to weigh-in tomorrow so hopefully it didn't make any difference in my weight.

Anyway, gotta go hit the sack, it's 10:30pm here and I'm beat. Hope you're all having a great evening. I'll check back in the morning.

Take Care

mountain mama 04-28-2008 10:38 PM

Everyone, thanks for the welcomes!

I have a craving for hummus and pita bread ( it is whole wheat.. lol ) But it's 930 at night! No need! I keep telling myself.. NONEED!

Haha.. and thanks for the complements :)

 HI EVERYONE ~ we had lovely sunshine with cool winds today too, but it was still really nice cuz there was no *** like they predicted. Hope tomorrow's the same as we are going for a drive to our lot to check things out (just makin' sure it's still there and all ~ LOL) ...

FAUTINI ~ Being tall is a blessing; I am short like MEOWEE and always have to have a stool, step, or call DH to reach things for me. Ever noticed how cupboards are always made for tall people? I do .... all the time! It's true; you do look slimmer when you are taller, and conversely, rounder when you are shorter ~ rats!:(

SEAWAVE ~ Keepin' you in my prayers, hon ...

Had a good day and lovely lean dinner; hope tomorrow's the same for us all. Have a great evening ... :hug:ROSEBUD:hug:

meowee 04-29-2008 07:21 AM

Good Morning . . . to both the long and the short of us. :grouphug:

Gee, it's overcast again this morning . . . quelle surprise . . . maybe we will get our normal hour or two of sunshine a little later. Hope so, anyway. I was retaining water yesterday and I still hve some of it around the ankles this morning. Don't know why, either -- no excess of either carbs or salt -- must be my TOM ( at 65).

Have a fun day . . . see you all later . . .

That's not even funny! Well, it is but just the thought of it makes me shiver and laugh at the same time.

Drizzly and overcast today. I'm supposed to jog in an hour so I hope this doesn't turn into full-blown rain.

I'm short, too and know all the disadvantages but I never feel obligated to clean the top of the frig. I hardly ever see the dust unless I'm on a stool trying to dig something out of the cupboard above it. :D

Our provincial budget comes down today and I hope we get a few breaks. We just heard last week that the tax on insurance has been removed retroactive to January and there will be a $1000 bonus given to women when they have a baby (trying to boost the population). I wish the tax on fuel would be removed but that's not happening.

(Hey, Meowee, you should move to NL and have a baby--you'd probably get $2000 because of your age*!!!{see quote above*})

Daffy29 04-29-2008 08:15 AM

Good Morning, everyone!

:welcome: Fauxtini!

Meowee, Faux, I don't think I ever mentioned I spent a good part of my childhood in Greenwood, and before that, 6 mos, in PEI...I have fond memories of those years, particularly the Bay of Fundy at Margaretsville. DSp and I went for a Down East trip in about '02 and it was as beautiful as I remembered. We included NL, Retired, and I was just taken with the raw beauty. I tried to convince her to retire to NL, but no luck...she'd miss her people in QC too much.

Seawave, I'm sending good thoughts your way. Please keep us posted.

Rosebud, I'm glad you're feeling better. One of my pet peeves is people coming to work sick, and taking no steps to prevent passing it on, like sneezing into their elbow, for example. Our HR person is our worst culprit!

Hali, hang in there! Your managed eating will have to translate into weight loss sooner or later! In the meantime... :dust:

Julia, I think I would cry if it cost me $97 to fill my tank...Coming back from the cottage I put $60 into the 54 litre tank of my VUE for the first time ever! The cost of gas is one of the reasons we switched from visiting the cottage once every two weeks to once every three.

We're just back, and dealing with the customary 'back in the city' blues. We had no snowfall at all, and had bright sunny days for all but one. I don't need to count steps or intentionally 'get exercise' once the snow is gone because there's just so much to do. The property was not well-maintained in the years before we bought it, so there's enough work to keep us busy when we're up there. In fact, we had to do some repairs on the roof of our garage this time, but we love to 'putter around' and renovate, so it's really great R&R for us.

There's still ice in the lake, but we saw a big change in the few days we were up there. We saw 3 different varieties of ducks. They spend the days on our lake but fly off at night. The river otter is back. He chowed down on at least 6 fish in half an hour at one point on Saturday afternoon. Everyone says the otter(s) will 'empty our lake of trout', but we don't mind sharing. Last spring, we saw both members of the couple, but have only seen one this year. We hope it's because she's in the den with the young, and not for the other reason. On a walk through the woods, we came across some good-sized moose tracks. The dog was very interested. Made us wonder if they know, just by smelling the tracks, how big the animal that made them is...

I also joined TBL, but am a Blue team member. Clearly, I'm outnumbered here! ;)

Did you hear on the news this morning about the astonishing :yikes: profit at least one of the major oil companies made in the first quarter of this year -- $9 BILLION . . . and another one that made $6.7 Billion in the same time frame ????? Come on.

JuliaDH 04-29-2008 09:16 AM

Meowee - That is why I dont watch or listen to the news often. It makes me feel quite unsettled! It makes my head spin.

Halichick 04-29-2008 09:43 AM

Mornin ladies!!

Rainy and cold here in Halifax today.... where's the sunshine and warm temps??

Meowee... I laughed when I saw your comment about TOM, I have PCOS so mine never goes away unless I take BCP.

Fauxtini... I LOVE hummus and pita bread... as a matter of fact, I love anything that's considered an ethnic food. Indian food is my weakness... gotta love the curry. :)

The dreaded weigh-in is this afternoon... I hope that I've actually lost some weight this time. LAWL guarantees 2lb/week loss and I haven't come near that yet... week 4 and I'm only down 4 lbs. :(

Anyway, gotta get cleaning the pigsty and get ready to go out to my meeting. I'll BBL

mountain mama 04-29-2008 11:47 AM

Hey ladies :)

Hali: I can't wait for my hummus and pita bread snack later today! hehe

Daffy: Greenwood.. that's where they have lumberjack competitions every labous day I think. One of my best friends is a lumberjack hehe Its fun to try and logrolll or chop trees down lol

I lost .5 lbs since yesterday. I just started the WATP 3 mile dvd.. I didn't think it was a hard workout, but it helped something!

I have been so used to icking my own *** with the biggest loser cardio max... I think I will be keeping WATP around a little longer before I give it to mom. lol I think I like it! lol
