Welcome Aboard CINDY . . .

It really doesn't matter JULIA . . . . . . you are so much more than just a number. Which one will you be weighing on the most often? That's the one to use.

HI CINDY from New Brunswick ...

JULIA ~ the same thing happened to me; at the doctor's I weighed only 307 and bought a digital that had me at 321 or so. I have lost another 3 or 4 lbs since then, but the scale jumps up and down all the time with my water retention problems. But I agree with MEOWEE, just pick one and stick with it.

We have a mega-storm right now and have had about 4 + feet of snow dumped outside our back door. All the highways are closed and everyone that is wise is staying home.

Have a great day :hug:ROSEBUD:hug:

meowee 04-01-2008 03:31 PM

Just don't you send that down here . . .. . . that means the snow, I already have the same scale.

JuliaDH 04-01-2008 03:42 PM

Thanks everyone! I will stick with the higher since that is where my WI are going to be.

Rosebud where are you? We have had rain in kitchener all day. Good thing it is washing away all the dirty snow. But we are having 70 km hour winds and it is getting winder and colder again!

meowee 04-01-2008 04:11 PM

Julia . . . you know where I am . . . but . . . I lived in Kitchener for 10 years before I came down here 15 years ago. . . The saga of those infamous Tire Companies. . .

Justwant, where are you in Ontario?? Four feet of snow, that's horrible.

Chris

Hi

Rosebud-So sorry. We probably sent you the snow from Manitoba! We were supposed to get in excess of 30 cm, but only ended up with 15. Looks like it held off until it dumped on you!

Julia- I had the same problem with scales. Had an old one. It kept going up and down. Literally I would gain 4lbs in a day. Then lose it by the next day. Thought it was just an old scale. Went out and bought a fancy weight watchers scale with BMI and water %. It showed me up several lbs from my starting. That was after I'd lost 6 on my old scale (taking an average of some crazy weights. Now I am weighing on two trying to figure out which one I like! LOL. I think the new one is what I am sticking with! As long as you stick with one to measure by, that's about all you can do!

Cindy- I grew up in NB before I came to MB. Around Fredericton.

I wasn't part of any April Fools day jokes. Actually forgot about it until tonight. So so busy at work. Meowee, that is so funny about the metric system.:D I probably would have believed it, too!

Mom of 5- when do you get your results from your apnea tests? Did you have to stay over in a sleep clinic?

Well, everyone have a great night!

hugemomof5 04-01-2008 10:01 PM

yes i have had a sleep study done, results will be about 3 weeks :( i HATE waiting.

tomarrow is weigh in.. i hope to see a down and not a up :)

No more tire companies. Goodwich closed down 1.5 yrs ago. They moved south. We live by Fairview mall, which had a huge renovtion last year. Hubby parkes his transport truck over at Al's Cartage. Kinda like it here for now. When the kids get alittle older we will probably move to a smaller community like Breslau.

Hey Ladies,
I'm from Winnipeg. Saw this forum "Crazy Canucks" had to drop in and say hi!!!

JuliaDH 04-01-2008 11:24 PM

:welcome3:Hi and Good night Rena!

meowee 04-02-2008 09:14 AM

Good Morning CRAZIES . . .

Great big :welcome: to you RENA . . . Hope you'll be stopping by regularly now that you've found us, Chickie.

Yes indeed JULIA . . . I lived down by Fairview too . . . In the townhouse complex that's in behind those high-rises across from the Mall. If it's still there -- I moved down here over 15 years ago now.

Hope the test results are good MOM . . . :crossed:

We are having mostly :sunny: and quite mild today. Got so mild overnight that most of the snow has melted again -- but I don't intend to kid myself -- there will probably be more before Spring really arrives around here.

Now . . . just so we don't get too complacent as we finally succeed in getting rid of our excess weight, along comes this article . . . http://www.everydayhealth.com/public...betes_20080402 . . . and a new catch-phrase . . . "Normal Weight Obesity". Oh such fun.

Anyway, gang . . . all the more reason to keep things moving and shaking today . . . see you soon . . . :carrot:

bopeep 04-02-2008 01:29 PM

Ho-ley-cow that was a windy night!!!! The power kept blinking off for a second or two every couple of minutes. What a pain in the rear! At least we didn't get any of the snow - it all came down as rain. There's going to be some serious flooding if all the snow melts too quickly!

I discovered another usual rite of passage of spring has begun - the melting snow is uncovering all the dog and cat turds. :barf:

I also forgot about April Fools! I have never played a good joke then, but my mum thought I was once - when I was 10 or 11 we had gerbils and they had a bunch of babies one April 1st. My mum would not believe me that there were babies and wouldn't come look - it took me a couple of hours to convince her to go see. I did play a funny joke on DH once, but it wasn't for April Fools. We were visiting home one Christmas and DH's mum had gotten out this ratty old Frosty the Snowman candle that DH had loved as a kid and was kidding around and threatening to light it. DH did not want to burn Frosty, so we let it be, but later in the day, when DH was down in the basement, I set up Frosty in front of a real candle and lit the real one. When DH came up the stairs, he couldn't see the real candle, but he could see the flame, and it looked like we had lit Frosty. :D His mum and I were rolling around on the floor for a good hour busting our sides at his reaction.

Meowee - I was reading about this study and the problems with 'normal weight obesity'. Depressing! It seems that it's linked to a metabolic disturbance and is therefore probably genetic. I will guess though, that these people are probably also close to the high end of 'normal weight' with a BMI of 24-24.9. I seriously doubt any woman with a BMI of 18-20 has a body fat % of over 30. Kind of a bummer to think that if you are one of these people, you can't settle at the high end of normal, but have to go for broke with your weight! No article I've read has said, but I'll be these people also have the problem of having their fat distributed as abdominal fat. Oh well, if I have to lose a few more pounds than I planned to be healthy, I'll just have to do it! I'll put my will power hat on and get back on my elliptical!

 A big hello to all Canucks, including those who have just found this thread :welcome2:

Rosebud, I don't care who you got that snow from, you just keep it up north, y'hear? Our forecast rainshowers did not appear in the quantity promised, so we still have lots of snow on the ground here.

It is getting warmer, and the soothsayers at Environment Canada say it is unlikely we will beat the record for snowfall. At (I believe) 16cm short, we are firmly in No. 2 spot. Seems hardly fair what with all the shovelling we've done this winter, but you can't argue with Mother Nature.

Our little family is off for a few days of much-needed R&R at the cottage. Peace and quiet, clean snow, I may even get to see the otters again. Have a great weekend, everyone!
