Mindy - Good luck to you and Kelly with your BL weigh-in today! It's too bad we don't have a formula to apply to this weight loss. I wouldn't even weigh myself if I knew I could lose two pounds a week by eating X, Y, and Z.

WardHog - I'm sorry to hear that you and your daughter are sick. It's going around, apparently. A co-worker of mine has been out all week with her son. They've both been told to stay home by their doctor. They don't want to spread it to everyone else.

I wasn't able to get any sort of workout in yesterday. Several people were out of the office, and I was left here alone to man the phones and the front door. Our receptionist doesn't come in until late on Wednesdays. So, I had to eat lunch at my desk. Oh well. The weather is nice today, so I'm going to try to fit in a mile and a half walk at lunch. It almost feels like spring around here. Yesterday's high was 60. They're predicting 65 for today. I'm jumping out of my skin for a string of warm days when I can walk my dog after dinner. Daylight savings time begins in less than two weeks, so I'm really, really looking forward to that. It feels so good to walk off a meal in nice weather.

Hello,

Wardhog: Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I had that flu and it's no fun. Feel better soon.

Mtiger: I'm looking forward to hearing how your week at the scales go. You are working so hard....I hope that your efforts show up on the scales.

Focult: I don't eat very much meat eithier but I do occasionaly. You will see that in my food plan. Also, I have to be careful what fruits I eat. I have IC (Intersistial Cysistis) and I have to be careful to not have food high in acid. At one time I couldn't eat anything citris or with tomato but the medicine I take has allowed me to eat those sorts of things in moderation. Such as I can have 1 p. of pizza, or 1 apple and then I can't have anything like that again for a couple of days or I have a flare. I also can't drink soda very often.

Ok, here's my food from yesterday. I am writing it in a journal as well..but know that no one was expecting to see it I would go days and not write anything down..that's why I decided to out myself and say I would post it here.

Breakfast: Rice Crispy ceral with milk, water

Lunch: garden salad w/ 1 tbl of ranch dressing, 1 p. of pizza (cheese), water

Snack: 1 apple, water

Dinner: 1 sloppy joe sandwich (on bun), chips, water

I want to start adding up calories soon but for the next couple of weeks I'm just going to get in the habit or writing the food done, DAILY and posting it.

Wink hey everybody

So today at school I was down 2 pounds. Yeah!! Tom. I weigh-in at home. Maybe I will be down a bit more. I know you have all heard me complain about the weekends. I have done some research in my journal and find that when I have a sedentary weekend, I will go up a little on Mon./ Tues. Then I will start losing on Wed./Thurs. I either have to live with that fact, or find things to do on the weekend to get me up and out of the house

Foucault- If only it was 60 degrees here. When it gets nice I will be outside every weekend working in my yard and flower gardens. That wil help take care of the begining week gain. Spring is coming, right?

Wardhog- hope you are feeling better soon. Being sick sucks.

Here is a sample menu I promised yesterday.

Breakfast- Special K and milk 210
yogurt 100

Snack- 1 pear 95

Lunch- Healthy Choice sesame chicken 230
Pringles pretzel sticks 90

Snack- clementine 35

Dinner- Taco Bell 1 taco 210
1 beef gordita 310

Snack- apple crackers 120
Total 1365 calories

I'll let you know how tom. goes at my "official home weigh-in".

Susie - Logging your food helps so much. Didn't you say you were one of those people who have a difficult time losing if you don't keep a food journal? I'm one of those people, too. If I don't log what I eat, I can't lose anything, even if I think I'm eating good foods. We'll all try to help out by reminding you to post your food if you forget.

Mindy - Yay for shedding those two pounds! I hope your at-home weigh-in goes just as well.

I'm a bit pessimistic about my weigh-in coming up early next week. I've been on track with my food intake, but because it has been an unusual week for me, I haven't worked out everyday like I usually do. Several people in the office have been out with the flu, and that forces me to stay here through my lunch instead of going home and getting in my usual walk or weigh lifting. I'm sure next week I can get back into my routine, though.

I pulled up a calorie counting website and entered my info in to see how many calories it would take to maintain my current weight. Every now and then I do this so I know how far to drop my calories. I started out at 254 and needed 2800 calories to maintain, so I dropped it by 1,000 a day to lose two pounds a week. My losses have slowed down, so I figured it was time to take a look at how much I consume. It looks like now that I'm down to 215, I only need 2600 to maintain. So, starting today, I'm dropping my daily intake to 1600 calories. This shouldn't be too difficult. It just requires dropping an item from my breakfast and leaving out one snack. I can still keep the same menu for lunch and dinner.

I hope everyone is having a great Friday. WardHog, I hope you and your daughter are feeling a bit better today.

Wink Hi

Okay, so I didn't do as well today as I had hoped. I went up a 1/2 from yesterday. I know this gets confusing, with the two weigh-ins. But my official at home loss for the week was down 1 pound, not 2 like at school yesterday. Well, it is still a loss. I plan to combat those sedentary weekends by getting up tom. and getting out of the house. Hopefuuly I won't gain on Mon. & Tues.

Foucault- I also like to go to the calculators and refigure from time to time. It's kind of fun to calculate BMI. I don't have a ticker for my BMI but it has gone from 41.5 (yikes) to 39.5. Still not good, but going down.

Hope to hear from everyone later. Have a great weekend.

I seem to eat more than you guys do. I shoot for 1500 cal/day. I track my calories at calorie-count.com. It even gives you a letter grade for each food, and when you do an analysis of your day. It's great for number nerds like me.

My daughter went back to school today and I managed to put the dishes away and do a load of laundry. I was winded from walking up the stairs. I do plan to at least take a little walk tomorrow. I need to get back on my eating plan, too. I hope you guys have a good week-end!

Mindy - A pound is fantastic. Sometimes I get a bit discouraged when it is only a pound, but then I try to remind myself that at least it is something. A pound is better than half a pound. :-) I want to throw a little party when my BMI goes down a whole number. One day we'll be able to flaunt our 20-something BMIs.

WardHog - I'm glad your life is getting back on track after being sick this week. I hate being in a funk like that. I didn't know calorie-count gives you grades for each food. I'm going to have to try that. I attempted to track my food intake online at one point in time, but I kept forgetting to update it when I was near my computer.

I managed to get a walk in today, even though I thought my exercising was going to be a bust. I left the office 30 minutes early. This allowed me to beat the traffic and finish dinner by a 5:30. It was still light out, so I took the dog on a two mile walk to the park and back. I even lifted weights when I got home since today is my usual strength training day. So, back on track, I think. It looks like the weather will be nice enough to allow me to go on a couple long walks this weekend.

Enjoy your Saturday, everyone!

Default Catching up

Hi,

I didn't get a chance to post on Friday due to an unexpected all day meeting.

My weigh-in on Thursday was HORRIBLE. I had a gain..it had been 3 weeks since I had weighed in so I expected it. It made me want to work hard this week and get that gain back off (and more--if I can)

I cleaned house today and tonight I'm just relaxing, surfing the web, catching up emails and things like that.

I'm going to download some new music into my Ipod for my workout tomorrow.

It was so nice here today...even if I wasn't out much, it seemed like spring is around the corner. March came in like a lamb..I hope that it doesn't go out like a lion...I'm so READY for a little warmer weather and to smell the freshness in the air.

Mtiger: I'm glad that you had a loss. Let us know how you are doing this weekend with not being sedentry. I find weekends hard because I like routine and weekends don't tend to be that way.

Focult: I can see why you are loosing..you are very aware of your calories and your exercise. That's what it takes. Thanks for reminding me of the basics.

Wardhog: Take it easy coming back from that flu. It takes a few days to get back up to spreed.

Ok..time for the food journal:

Friday
B=rice crispes w/milk,water
L=Chinese, I had veggies w/ garlic sauce and white rice, water
D= bowl of chili, onion rings, pie baby (from the Big Boy), water

Saturday
B=1 pop tart, water
Snack=1 apple
Lunch=Same as yesterday's (we had left-overs from lunch and they let us take them home), water
Dinner=grilled cheese sandwich, deep fried mushrooms, cole slaw, water

I plan on starting to count calories after next week. I might start early but I told myself to just log the food for two weeks and then go from there.

Good morning! I am almost completely recovered from the flu. I am climbing back onto the wagon now. Yesterday I took a long walk around the (very hilly) neighborhood (4.2 mi, 1:20). I also stuck to my eating plan and I am going to stay on track today. Weight this morning is 149.6.

You guys are all doing so well. I am sorry about the gain, Mychoice, but I love your attitude about it.

Have a great day, everyone!

Wink Howdy

Haven't posted in a few days. I'm back!!! So I am playing my up down game again. Up a pound yesterday, down a 1/2 today. Why, I ask myself? I can't seem to figure out any logical reason. Calories, exercise, all seem to be about the same.

Well, good news for the weekend. I have been out of the house both days doing stuff. Getting hair done, book store, had a birthday party today and some shopping. So I have been much more active the last two days. Susie, I am with you. I need routine.

Foucault- went to the bookstore intending to buy the third Kristen Britain book with my BL winnings. I couldn't spend the $26 on it. I'll wait for paperback or get it from the library. I did get someone new. Ever read any Kate Forsyth? Something about taming the wild winged horse and living with a witch. Sounds interesting.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Let's sail through the week and lose some pounds.

Hello,

It was so beautiful outside yesterday that I spent a lot of the day out in the yard picking up tree limbs, trash, looking around and making notes on things I need to do to get the yard ready. I'm not usually a "yard" person but we bought a house last year and we didn't do much to it; we moved in in July and it was a little late to do much then but this year I want the yard to look lush and healthy. I usually do flowers in pots for the porch and I will continue to do that..I"m not one for wedding, but I do have a try that I want to plan a ring of flowers around. This is all new to me.

It's also beautiful here today, I'm in Ohio...near Cincinnati, it's 65 degrees! It's going to start raining tonight and the temp will drop again but it's spring like today and I'm enjoying it.

This nice weather has me thinking about spring and summer. I'm upset with myself that I didn't get serious about the weight loss until recently but I can only deal with it from where I am and get as much done as I can now. Right?
And you know, if I work really hard I can get 20 lbs off by my June birthday and a June wedding that I'm going to attend, so there's a goal for me and I'm going to reach it!

Here's the stats for yesterday:

Exercise: Stationary bike for 30 min, rode 4 miles

B=Cheerios w/ milk, water
Brunch/Lunch: 2 p. of bacon, scrambled eggs, water
Snack: Chips and salsa
D= (we had dinner with friends and ordered Pizza!), 3 cheese and mushroom squares of pizza, 1 brownie w/ 1 scoop of ice cream, water

Mtiger: Glad to hear that you got out of the house this weekend and was able to be more active.

Wardhog: Glad to hear you are feeling like your old self and you are staying on track.

I'm doing well today and I'm on track and looking forward to my 30 min walk tonight AND going back to the weight room.

It's beautiful here today too, Mychoice!

Today I went to the gym and did 15 min on the elliptical, a Group Power class, and 15 min on the bike. It wasn't my best effort, but I muddled through. I stayed on my eating plan yesterday and I am on track for today.

I hope everyone's having a good Monday.

Wink Hi

Okay so I am once again in crisis. Even though I have not changed a thing, I am doing this up down thing within a two pound range. It is just too depressing. So, I have come up with a new plan. I have been logging food on caloriecount.com but just this weekend learned some new things about the site. It will tell me how much I should burn in a day, based on my information and exercise. I am going to subtract 1,000 calories each day which should result in a 2 pound/week loss. I am going to stick with it and not worry about daily fluctuations.

I have also been getting on the scale like 6 times a day. I will no longer do that. I am going to weigh in the morning when I get up and that's it. That is only so I can log it on the website. Does anyone use caloriecount and have any information to share? I will see how this works in time.

Our snow has almost melted today and I hear that on Tues. we may get 3-6 inches. Where, oh where is spring?

Keep working hard everyone and wish me luck with my new plan.

It has been so long since I've posted. Life has been a roller coaster. In the last week my 2 year old has had the flu, an ear infection, and a birthday party at Caesarland (Chuck E. Cheese type place). I have also had a car accident, locked the keys in the house, and ate like a mad woman. I did so well the first several weeks, now I feel like an addict who has fallen off the wagon. It is very difficult to get back on the wagon. So much stress has made it easy to say yes to pizza, birthday cake, you name it, I think I ate it this week. Exercise has been my worst enemy the last two weeks. I have so little motivation, it just sucks. Here I am at 10:30 at night, waiting for my husband to finish watching TV so I can walk on the treadmill without bothering him. I wanted to do the BL Cardio dvd, but I have to do it on my husband's TV in the basement where I have enough room and I don't sound like I'm making the ceiling cave in. So, I'm just going to walk on the treadmill now that he is done watching his show and hope the noise from our sucky treadmill doesn't bother him or my kids while they're in bed. Life has got to get better soon or I may just scream.

Mindy, I use calorie-count. What do you want to know?

Kelly, I am sorry you have had a rough time. I am glad that you came back and posted. Hang in there!

Today I did a Group Ride class and 30 min on the elliptical. I stayed on my eating plan yesterday and I am on track for today. We are going to Disney on April 5, so I have about one month to do my best to feel comfortable in summer clothes (and swimsuit - ack!).

Have a great day!
