Hi Everyone!
Had a fairly good legal day. Had the skyline frozen for lunch. It is really thin consistancy but tasted good and filled me up.

Regarding the Orlando meeting- any details yet as to what time? The birthday party for the baby is going to be around 4pm. So maybe we can all meet for lunch somewhere???? I do hope that I don't have to miss it! Are some of you going Friday night and staying over? Where is everyone staying thats staying over?

BKM-Can you possibly bring me some Agave? I have checked all the local hfs and they don't know what I'm talking about! Since I've never tried it, I don't really know what I'm talking about!

There is a girl at work who says she is going to start sb on MOnday, I'll try to lure her to this site!

Well my bed is calling me so I will say Good Nite and all of you have a great legal day tomorrow. Don't know if I'll get chance to post tomorrow. Have to babysit my 18 month old nephew!

Keep up the good work everyone!

Red face Saturday AM Post

Enjoyed watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics last night. I watched the entire thing from start to finish. Don't think I've ever done that before. Some of the pagentry was lost on me but thank heavens for the commentators "explaining" what some it represented.

I disagree with BOB about the torch lighting. I thought having the 1980 hockey team was great. Their win was representative of the theme of these games "Light the Fire Within." Don't know that I've ever seen anything like that game. I didn't much like hockey then and I was young, but I remember watching that game with my parents and being really excited. They were BIG TIME underdogs and they shocked the world! I recently saw an interview with members of the 1980 Russian hockey team. They talked at length about how Team USA just wanted it more and played with all their hearts and were just plain unstoppable.

John Glen carrying the flag looked FAB at 80! He trodded right up those steps like it was not problem! How to be that mobile and healthy at his age. I was thrilled to see the president making a statement by making extremely public appearances and sitting with the athletes and enjoying the moment.

Ready for the skiing and ice skating! Like hockey too. I get athleticly (sp?) inspired during the Olympics.

MEL - Glad to hear that your skin is not a zit-factory. Mine is better so I wonder if it was a change in a product I was using. Hope so. WOW your arms sound great! I am starting to be able to see veins in mine and a little definition in them. I have a little bicep muscle but you can see the cut. Unfortunately I still have that awful under arm juggle too. Hate that! I bet the increase you've seen in your waist is a positive result that only seems like a negative gain. As diligent as you are I DOUBT that you are making backwards progress. You're inspring me to forge ahead! Have you done BFL for 5 weeks now? I'm only at the end of week 1! Do you believe that 20 min of interval aerobics is enough to burn 20 pounds of fat? I can't help but wonder if I should be doing more than :20. Welcome your thoughts.

ROSALIE - Thanks for your comments.

Off to start my day!

Peace,
FROG

Default Sunny Saturday Morning

You'd never know we were covered with a beautiful white blanket of snow 3 mornings ago. We definitely had Norman Rockwell scenes Wednesday and everything looked serene and innocent. In light of our tragedy, it was amazing how God seemed to cover us all with a big hug. The accident happened when T.J. hit a patch of melted ice on a country road and hydroplaned head-on into another pickup truck. No drag racing, thank God, just a really awful accident. It happened during that snowfall but our roads never iced up, just got wet and somethimes slushy. His funeral is today and the others will be together tomorrow.

Deb: Even if that test wasn't IB, to get that many questions correct, in any subject area, is great. We don't offer IB at our school, just Advanced Placement and being a gt teacher, I know what all of those programs require. You have great kids!

Tina: Our kids are still in shock, especially my daughter. I think it woke them all up to the fact that they aren't invincible and any one of them could be gone in an instant. We have a great many kids who are involved with churches and youth groups and that has helped tremendously. The weekend will be sad, because of the funerals, and the rest of the seniors' year will be tempered by this, but they'll bounce back. To show God's awesome power and plan: T.J. had a twin, A.J., and our hs councelors are assigned students according to alphabet. A.J.'s councelor, is a twin who lost her sister to cancer just about a month ago. She knows exactly what he's going through right now and can relate to him in a way that only another twin can. Isn't that amazing?

It's time go get busy. Errands and clothes are calling my name. I'll try to check back in later this evening. Have a great day, all.

Jeanie,

Default Saturday

I loved the Opening Ceremonies, 'tho some parts (pioneers especially) got a bit long a sappy. Those big animal puppet things were awesome, and although it wasn't a surprise, I thought the 1980 hockey team was perfect for lighting the flame. I remember watching that game in a hotel room in New York, and we were HUGE hockey fans at the time (rooting for the Canadians at first, 'tho)and still are. It was the most incredible game I've ever seen. Hubby remembers the game when the Canadians first beat the Soviet Army Team in the Canada Cup, and likened it to that. (That was a big deal in Canada, don't know if anyone here even knew about it!) BTW, Rosalie and Zanne, did you notice that the USA team uniforms were made by "ROOTS"? We got a good laugh at that!

FROG: I was VERY skeptical about the 20 minute aerobics solution. But I really go all out, and couldn't do another minute at the intensity I end up at (bad grammer there). BUT, I do also walk the dog 2-3 miles per day, and if I'm alone (no neighbors) jog it, and I play tennis twice a week. Tho playing doubles rarely gets my heartbeat up any more unless it's cause I'm pissed at my partner or myself. All the "experts", and I guess some of them really are, over at the lean&strong site insist that on your first challenge you shouldn't tweak anything. Unless your BF% is under 15 (that'll be the day for me!) and/or you are preparing for a competition (**** will freeze over first), the 20 minutes should be plenty if you are really hitting the intensities. I know its hard to believe, especially since you and I were runners. And some good news: for me the underarm stuff was the most noticeable first loss. I'm done week 5 tomorrow!

Slaphappy- What on earth is Skyline Frozen? Sounds like our weather least week...

Deb- I bet you could make a fortune selling your agave stockpile on ebay or to Merv Griffen

Jred- Sorry to hear about the tragedy at your school. There was a horrible one like that here the year after Amy graduated, but she knew 2 of the kids that were killed. They feel so immortal at that age, I know I did until I had my first baby at 27! Sometimes it seems amazing that anyone lives thru the teenage-early adult years. It's so sad.

Lamap- Know what you mean about the sleep. My worst days everything wise are after the shortest nights. Even if I manage to stay legal and workout, I still fill puffy and fatter.

Darasmus- PUT DOWN THAT PIZZA! One of the posters on another site I visit says that when she first started to eat better, every time she wanted to cheat she would ask herself if it would bring her any closer to her goals. That's worked for me, tho I can't say I've NEVER cheated

Gotta run- hello to everybody!

Default New kid on the block

Hello everyone,

I am very new at this so bear with me. I have been observing for several weeks and decided it was time to join in. You all seem to have a great network of friends. I am looking forward to joining you and am looking forward to the support.
Now that I have figured out how to register and how to post I have run out of time to play and write. I need to get to the house cleaning while no one is at home.
Have a great day!!

HiedieHo All!!!!

THE OLYMPICS! I told my family if I can't get anything done between events, it won't get done!! There were parts of the opening extravaganza that were neat, the animals, birds but it seemed to be the whole show sort of missed the mark. I think because at some points it was just too busy so nothing stood out to make an impression.

I know we think of the torch lighter as being an individual but I thin the hockey team played as an individual. At the time they were a symbol to all that wanting something bad enough and being willing to work for it has its rewards.

Finally got me hair cut yesterday, kept putting it off. I feel so much lighter. Also went shopping, Albertson's had salmon at 2.99 which is a good price here. I bought two filets, one for tonight and one for the freezer My ds likes to grill it and sometimes he wraps it in foil with veggies and then grills it.

Will try to catch up on posts. The Board has been so busy (isn't that great!) that I fall behind.

CHRISTIAN - We often see body changes even though there is no decrease in weight. That is good, I think, as there is no drastic changes all at once that in some can be detrimental. I have not been a rapid loser but the dietician and doctor think I've done great.

MEL - Hope your knree is better. Before this woe my eyes were never bigger than my stomach but they are now! Takes much less to fill me. I remember when we wanted my mil to get a second phone for her bedroom (there were no portable phones then) she said she needed it in her bathroom because the phone always rang when she was there.

FROG - Good analogy with elves and sweet things. New Year's and Valentine's Day? Hmmmm, make sound like you just....ahem....on holidays!

DEB - Sorry, I forgot Eli second dh. Rightly so, you don't make a big distinction about it. It 's what's in the heart that counts not what's on a piece of paper. Never thought of new bluebird being skinnier, just thought of him as a change. I like bleubirds. I had to be careful of the Buckle, could sit down and eaten the whole thing! Definitely a keeper.

FILLISE - We will miss your posts. Lokk forward to them.

SOL - Hope Meister is feeling better. That kind of man is almost worse than a whiner. A whiner will at least get rest, even if the nursie won't! The guy that wants to show he's macho can be a worry. My ds is like that and he has a couple of things that in MHO needs taking care of. I don't admire that overly macho side of men.

BETH - Yogurt is supposed to be good for yeast infections, just be sure that it has live or active cultures in it. I have heard of people douching with it, which is a bit much for me!!

BKM - Our stations don't carry Rosie anymore. I liked her show. She is a big admirer of Merv and Mike Douglas and tried to use their shows as a standard for hers. Can you imagine the run on agave now??!!!

BUS - You really need R & R and the best way is by doing something you enjoy like riding April.

BOB - Re your article, the one thing we do is laugh. We may gripe but we see the humor in our grips. I enjoyed Leno too. I love his Jay Walking.

DARAMUS - We all make excuses for not eating properly. But I know that I have to face up to it, that they are just excuses. You have to take that 10 or 15 minutes extra time to do something for yourself. Remember you are worth it! So stay away from that commercial pizza and make yourself a homemade one. You could make enough for a couple of meals and wouldn't have to take the time every day. Just have to plan for things. I know on the Board there are recipes for a legal pizza with macaroni crust and one with a zucchini crust. I also use ww pita bread. Some of us have found Toufayan (I think that's the spelling) that is legal. I know Ragu has a sauce with no sugar although it is not sold as a "diet" sauce.

ROSALIE - You didn't watch the Olympics because you were posting?!?! Not that I don't care for you all, but there are other times to post. I have given up a show, but the Olympics are special. You are so good!

LAMAP - Doesn't it feel good to see your stamina incresing? Distance too. Give yourself a hand.

MUSIC _ great you stayed OP in spite of crazy kids! I'm jealous of your DB, to be able to go to the Olympics, wow!!

HAPPY- Okay, I'll bite! Did I miss something? What is Skyline you had frozen for lunch?

JRED - What a happy coincidence about counselor.

Well, need some luch, Will make a big salad.

Take care all. Shirley

Hello all! Hello newbies - Welcome!
Yeah, I'm still around. I'm still settling in at work. I'm still trying to figure out where everything is!!

I found a cool greeting card website <<www.ponderingpool.com>>. There are some unusual cards which look at modern life with a wry note. The illustrations are pretty neat. The artist is Susan Mrosek. I'm attaching a poster she designed in regards to 9-11. It has a great theme. Hopefully, it goes through (and is large enough to read).

Jumped on the scale one day, and it said 130#! I couldn't believe it! So, I took a shower, and then got on it again - 135#! I must have been really dehydrated to absorb 5# of water from the shower! I'm fluctuating between 133-135# right now. Not too bad considering I've been inconsistent with SB. There's a cafeteria in the university hospital I work at. There's no low-fat, fat-free, light anything there! I've been bringing my lunch, and I'm heartily sick of salad at this point.

HiedieHo All!!!

RED1 - You were posting same time as I. Welcome to the Board, you will find what you are looking for. I thank God for the people on this Board all the time.

BOB - I'm glad you have the courage of your convictions and will not be swayed by the opinions of others. If we all agreed it would be so boring.

What about that Derek Parra!!!!! He is a good sportman congratulating the Netherlands guy. At least he had the record for a short while.

Time to get sustitenence for the next round. Have to keep track of the hockey too.

Take care. sef

Evening from rainy Miami!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend, thus far. It's been raining here off and on since late morning. Went out to garage sales which all should of been called garbage sales, it was truly pathetic out there. Only decent thing I bought, and wonder why I bought it, was a new food dehydrator for $3.00 (in box, never used). Other than that, I spent about $5 I think. Boy, the crap people try to sell is unbelivable. Some things I'd be embarrased to even try selling, much less even giving it to charity-only the garbage can is worthy!!!

I am EXTREMELY bloated. Eli would tell you I'm probably full of bad gas, which is probably true-it's been terrible lately! BUT, I think it's due to other things as well. The scale being up another lb today is disheartening for me to see, esp knowing I'm up 8lbs from my all time low. Even though I am still under my original goal weight, I thought I would never go above 125 again. Needless to say, todays eating wasn't so good and I guess I must be feeling somewhat sorry for myself and pissed off at myself at the same time. I had e-mailed FROG and told her that even though I am eating everything SB LEGAL and haven't cheated, that indeed I am cheating, because the amounts of foods I've been consuming on and off for a while is NOT SB LEGAL! Who am I trying to fool. Tomorrow will be 8 months since I hit goal and I am determined to get back on track to where I was before. Feeling good about my eating, journaling and looking forward to my exercising. I am determined to get my numbers back down.

I know some of this gain is hormonal and it's driving me crazy as I can pinpoint the problem. Each month I can tell what's going to happen with me from keeping track of the past, but this past month has been really strange and nothing has panned out as I expected. I wonder if this peri-menopause is kicking in with me, I mean, I've seen myself develop night sweats once in a while and this too has never happened before. I am so bloated, the stomach feels "puffy" and my TOM isn't due for another 5 days. I didn't see the usual trend of my weight spiking and then coming down mid-cycle, instead it's spiked and stayed there. Racking my brains trying to figure it all out and it's not helping. If tomorrow still holds bad news, I am putting the scale away, at least til Wednesday!! PLUS, I haven't had a drop of liquid today, that sure as heck isn't going to help me-didn't help me when I was drinking lots either, but this is the worse of the two.

Cookies got the better of me and I've eaten so many it's not funny-I promise myself I won't make any SB LEGAL DESSERTS for a while-hope I listen now!!! Again, just because it's SB LEGAL, doesn't mean that gives me a license to eat them all!!! They still have calories, fat, etc...

Enough of my kvetching! See, I'm human too!!!!!!!!!

My OLYMPIC COMMENTS: I was disappointed on the lighting of the torch, thought it would be likely an individual, and Eli thought maybe the President since it was the first Pres opening a Winter Game. Thought maybe someone who represented the people from 9/11. I was unimpressed with the story on the ice about the fire within-I think it was more a local thing that people in UTAH could understand-did like the Indians though!!!!

BOB, your posting of the diet article had me pinned down with #1-GUILTY AS CHARGED! Hey, you going to do a POW WOW for us in the hotel room?? LOL!!!

MEL, you've got me pegged! I guess I'm easy to read, heck, I paste everthing about myself out there anyhow! LOL!! Okay, what the heck are "striations"? Sorry, I ain't selling my stash to MERV and Ebay, couldn't get me enough. There's some things I'll sell, (like all the crap in my house) and other's I won't (agave, kids and Eli's stud services!!!) LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! REALLY BIG LOL ON THAT LAST ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DARAMUS, I know about those BAD EATING DAYS!!! Doesn't sound ALL that bad though-I'm sure you're back on track today-unlike me! What are you getting that's legal at JJ? Eli has one right next door to his SB and though I've never gone in there, I can't imagine they'd have anything SB LEGAL

ROSALIE, it's so very true, when we keep track of what goes into our mouth it definitely helps, and I believe keeps us more focused and on the right track. I too find that if I don't journal I'm more apt to eat more, not less. Here's hoping you both get back on the journaling track!!! Let me know if you didn't get my e-mail.

LAMAP, glad to see your post-hoping you got in that much-needed rest!!

MUSIC, it's nice to see your enthusiasim on being OP all day-it truly feels empowering when you see you can easily do it. Have to tell myself the same thing come Monday!

HAPPY, I would say lunch is a definite in Orlando-will get all the specifics early enough to you. I'm going to see what the other gals think about ITALIANNIS, a place we went to with SOL that is very good (we use to have one here, but it closed). Of course, not being from that area, it's hard to pick anything else than a chain. I don't know if OUTBACK up there is opened for lunch, very few are, most are only opened for dinner. I hope to stay at the same hotel as last month, off I-4 and Sand Lake Road, right off International Dr. as well. Not sure if I will come up Friday or just early Sat morning-would like it to be Friday, but can't afford the 2 nights, so may just make it Sat-plans still up in the air.

JRED, terrible tragedy, but like you said, thank goodness it wasn't drag racing. Eli and I travel a 15 mile stretch of road to avoid the traffic on the highway and the other day there was a massive accident when a dump truck lost one of it's retreads and hit an oncoming tractor trailer head on and then flipped onto a Grand Am, pulverizing the vehicle and killing the man in it. Trucks went on fire, really bad. It's in the middle of nowhere really and was in the middle of this 15 mile stretch, making rescue getting there longer than anyone could expect-I just thought about us traveling on that 2 lane highway and knowing things like this could happen to the best of us.

RED, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! Glad you've decided to join us! It was nice to read your BIO on the BIO BOARD to learn a little more about you Where is Ridgecrest in CA? Near any of the major cities I've probably heard of??? Please, don't hesitate to ask us any questions, no matter how small, stupid, or insignificant you may think they are-we are all happy to help and throw in our 2 cents of advice. I'm glad you've noticed how tight a bunch we are on here, but even with that, we are always happy to welcome a newcomer into our family and trust me, before long, you'll think you've been with us FOREVER!!! Any big plans for the grand baby's 1st Birthday? I love her name!!!

SEF, a hair cut! I best you look MAHVELOUS!!! See, you are better than I, you COULD of sat down and eaten the whole buckle, I on the other had, DO sit down and eat the whole buckle!!!! I like what you said to DARAMUS "We all make excuses for not eating properly. But I know that I have to face up to it, that they are just excuses. " Oye, so true!!!!!!!!!!!

TREE, glad to see your post-wondering where you've been hiding lately! Don't you have a micro at work where you could take something and heat it up? Remember, the quiche freezes well!!!!!!!

That's it for me, for now at least. Eli's due home any minute, so I have to wrap this up.

See you all tomorrow in the AM!

NITE!

Default IT'S ONE EXCITING SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

Hello Everybody!

So sorry I’ve been AWOL the past few days. Let me assure you that you were all in my thoughts, but I just couldn’t manage to get a decent post done. Yesterday morning I was up and half way ready to go for my doctor’s appointment, when I got a call from her office. She was ill and I had to reschedule. So I dodged the pap bullet for a couple of weeks. And to think I had done the pre-doctor visit shaving and everything. Man, what a waste. Well, I guess Paul can appreciate it. Ha!

So since I didn’t go I didn’t weigh in there so I still don’t know where I am regarding that whole issue. I guess I should just bit the bullet and step on my scales and start from there. I just feel like I’m wandering aimlessly.

Last night we went over to MIL’s house. She wanted to have a Winter Games Night. The plan was to watch the opening ceremonies and play games and eat supper. Well, we took this old video from Christmas 96 and so we watched that and laughed before we turned on the olympics. We played BINGO while that was going on, so I only had one ear on it. My MIL is so much fun. All year long she buys little “prizes” and stores them in her closet in huge shopping bags. Then when we play games, she always has prizes for us to choose from. I won a really cute purse and change purse that’s made of that thin twine and it kind of looks like macrame. I was happy. The good thing about going to her house is that she always has healthy food. So the temptations are few and far between, so I usually eat really well there. She had great sloppy joes and a huge salad and fruit. It was such a good evening.

I just found out today that Wild Oats has a brand of triscuits that have no partially hydrogenated oil. The look exactly like triscuits, but they do taste a bit dull. But the way I look at it, I usually eat them with cheese or tuna or something. So they were fine that way.

BOB---Did you see that UT beat UK in basketball this past week? That didn’t go over well up here where there are plenty of wildcat fans. Hey, thanks for sharing that article. I am definitely a loopy too.

DEB---I wish I could blame you for making me hungry for cookies, but I’m always hungry for cookies. Sounds like you do more in the kitchen than you profess to do. Do you feel that you are a better baker than a cook? Do you think those oatmeal cookies have you all gassed up?

HAPPY---Sure do wish I could send you a plate of the “real” Skyline chili. I’ve been to some parties up here where they use the frozen to make an appetizer with tons of melted cheese on the top. It’s pretty good, but people usually load that up with onions and that means a big “no thanks” from me.

FROG---I remember when being in a friend’s apartment while I was a senior in college in TN when that USA hockey team won. Her apartment was wall-to-wall people and it was very exciting. Seeing all those guys still gives me goose bumps and brought back some wonderful personal memories when I was young and footloose and fancy free and could lose five pounds in one week without breaking a sweat! A youth is wasted on the young. :-)

JRED---My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you mourn your loss. I wish there was more I could say to make the hurt go away. God bless you all.

SEF---I thought your comments on the opening ceremonies were right on target. It seems that lately with these types of events (Superbowl half time show too), they try to have so MUCH stuff going on that it looks chaotic. I felt that way last night when we were watching. But I also have to say that I wasn’t watching it too closely. But it did seem a bit over the top at times. And I thought they drug it out too long. Guess they wanted the people who bought those expensive tickets to get their money’s worth.

Well, I’m trying to finish up a quilt and I’ve just got a couple more hours of quilting to go and then I just have to finish the outer edge and it’s finished. So I’m sorry I didn’t get to respond to all of you. Just wanted to touch base and will try and get another post on tomorrow.

Well, today was better overall in that I didn't cheat, but I think I had too much coffee and too little food! As I mentioned in my last post I really like Jamba Juice. I'm pretty sure the one I like isn't legal, but they may have some completely legal SB items on their menu. Here is the nutritional info on my regular smootie (protein berry pizaz). I've only had 2 of these in 6 weeks, but I want your opinion on how bad it is... i mean some things are REAL bad (never want to have) and some things are ok in reasonable amounts every so often! At least I think so anyway. You may not agree, however. Anyway here is the info:

Ingredients: Soymilk, Frozen Strawberries, Frozen Bananas, Ice, Agave Nectar, Protein Boost.

Fat: 1.5g
Protein: 21g
Carbs: 102g
Fiber: 6g
Calories: 490

I was worried that the carbs were a little high, but I really don't know! I rarely look at carbs on labels.... I mainly look at ingrediants and sugar grams. Is 102 grams of carbs too high? I'm interested in your opinions. Thanks

Good evening!

A quick post just to let you know that I am still around and still OP. I am just feeling so happy with this WOE. I talk about it all the time. I asked my mom today if she got tired of hearing me. Thank goodness she said no. She is actually eating this way too and has said that it's easier than she thought it would be. I have found that now, especially on weekends, I am forgetting to eat. Today I had:

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 slices of bacon and ww toast
Dinner: grilled chicken, tomato, lettuce on sourdough bread and a small side salad/no dressing.
Snack: 6 triscuits and cheese

I know that I didn't eat enough today. I should have veggies and fruit. I was out all day. I know it's not excuse.

Daramus: I think your smoothie sounds really yummy. I'm certainly not an expert, but it sounds ok to me as long as the bananas don't bother you. I know what you mean about pizza. It is one of my favorite things to eat. Since SB I have not eaten one that is not SB legal though. Really the ww pita ones you make yourself are fast and yummy. I also used the recipie for WW Pizza crust that is on the recipie board and it was really good as well.

Quilter: Sounds like you had a wonderful time at your MILs house. That is a really wonderful idea that she has regarding the gifts.

Deb: Your oatmeal cookies sounded so good that I decided I will make the NO BAKE cookies tomorrow. I am cutting the recipie in half though. I wonder if they freeze well?

Red: Welcome to the board. You will find tons of support here and close friends.

JRed: Sorry to hear about the terrible tragedy at your school.

Lamap: You are doing so great with your swimming. We have a YMCA really close here. I have been thinking about joining so that I can use the swimming pool.

Regarding the Olympics: I have also watched the opening ceremonies and then todays events as well. I enjoyed all of it, but I also thought that there was too much going on in the arena. I too liked the Indian part of it. Especially when the Chiefs from each tribe was presented with a gift. I will be glued to the TV for the next couple of weeks.

Well, it's getting late. Sorry I didn't respond to everyone. You are all in my thoughts though.
