Merry Christmas! It has been a busy day. Ruth and Erik got her about 10. I made crustless quiches for breakfast, and put out peeled grapefruit. Dinner was an awesome pork roast, mashed potatoes and gravy (and yes, I ate some) risotta made with brown rice, and broccoli in cheese sauce. For dessert I made a flourless chocolate cake with 70% chocolate. Yum!

Kaeleb got a percussion set for Christmas..it has a drum, tambourine, maraca, and xylophone. He LOVES it. He and James sat on the floor and beat on the drum for at least an hour. James had a little dog with plastic shapes for paws that he was using. Every time he tried to set the dog down and pick up the tambourine or maraca, Kaeleb would look at him, pick up the dog and hand it back to him as if to say, THIS is YOUR instrument! We laughed so hard my sides hurt.

I gave him a toy cellphone. They put him to bed about 7, and an hour later he was still in there playing with it. He also got a little rocking horse, and he seems to really like that too. Of course, he thinks his uncle James is the best thing in the world, so if James will play with it with him, he loves it!

My older daughter and her husband gave me a nice four foot folding table to use in the garagio. No dragging saw horses and boards around! yay! Erik also got my a huge bag of shop towels to use in the kitchen. I laughed when I opened them, because he is always complaining that I don't have enough towels for him when he is cooking. He cooked today, which is why the pork roast was awesome.

Tomorrow is Tom's birthday. He is working as many hours as he can get in before his contract ends on the 31st, so I will probably not see much of him this week. I hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Good morning you all..... Had a wonderful Christmas. Made my prime rib. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do with leftovers??????? I've got so much of the meat left. I got a new crockpot and a juicer. Plus a mortar and pestle. Which I'm really proud of. And I've never seen so much candy. In my stocking and gifts. I've got to give it away.

Monet- Your dinner sounds great. I loved hearing about Kaeleb. He sounds like such a doll.

Hope everyone had a great day. Be back later...

Hope everyone had a nice holiday. I am glad it is over and we can get back to semi-normal now!
I made the Bagna Cauda that is in the low carb recipes area and it rocks! It was the hit of the party with sour dough bread and fresh veggies. If you like this sort of thing you should like it. I also make Deb's cheesecake and it is amazing! This was my first time using agave syrup and it is definitely a new staple at my house.
Toni - I would take the prime rib and either add it to a salad with lettuce etc. or make it into a sandwich spread like tuna salad.

Oh, it's good to be back home! We were away for four days visiting with two of our daughters and my two granddaughters. Fun, but always tiring.

I made two cheesecakes to take with us. One without a crust and one with the Triscuit crust. My husband liked the Triscuit crust - said it tasted nutty.

Okay, I ate chocolates - and they weren't dark. I ate some kind of cakey stuff with a toffee sauce (specially made by my daughter - so can't say no). Did pretty good with only eating one plate of food at meals, but I gained back two pounds.

Monet - we have 3 or 4 inches of snow, but we didn't get hit by any of the storms they got in Ontario.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!

I went back to work today, and it was a busy one, but tomorrow will be even busier! Everyone is in such a hurry to get things done before the end of the year. I'm afraid everyone won't be happy campers...these DOC'S can only do so much!

We had a very quiet Christmas. My Nephew was over on Christmas Eve to visit for a while, but the actual day was just ME, KATE & TIPPY!! I fixed RIB
EYES on the grill, baked a couple of potatoes and fixed a salad. Tippy had her Christmas taste of RIB EYE fat but of course wanted more! We were stuffed. I in fact didn't even eat all of my steak. I hadn't been eating very much while I was sick, so it didn't take much to fill me up. I did eat all of my salad...it tasted so good to me.
I was poking around PUBLIX two weeks ago and they must have had an over abundance of RIB ROAST.....they had cut them from the bone and had a big package of them wrapped together. They even included the ribs and there is a big amount of meat on that. I think I paid $4 something a lb for them.
Now I wish I had bought more for the freezer.

TONI...I vote for a pot of soup! Do you still have the drippings from cooking the meat? Was there a bone? You don't have to use all of it, but talk about a good pot!!! Then I would take the rest and slice it into portions...wrap in wax paper, then saran wrap and put into freezer bags. VOILA!!! You can take it out when you and Steve feel like some prime rib!
I'm so glad you had a good day. After suffering with your shingles like you did, you deserve a day like you had! How are you feeling by the way? Are they gone?

MONET...I would have loved to have seen Kaeleb's face looking at James like that...did you get a picture?
Sounds like y'all have a great day. Did your MIL come? Got any leftovers? I'll be by! Wish I was coming up that way for the New Year, I'd slide in!
I've got y'all in my good thoughts...Something will come Tom's way..Tell him I said HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

DONNA..Glad you're back...We missed you. So good to hear that y'all had a good holiday! I love cheesecake!!!

JACQUE...OK...tell me what Bagna Cauda is????

When I got home, Kate had a big pot of Northern Beans cooked, and she had fried up some potatoes...I'm too tired to eat! I'll take some beans with me to work tomorrow and hope they don't give me gas!

I'm off to find something to eat. A scrambled egg sounds good to me!

Morning! I did just about nothing yesterday but go to the grocery store and fix dinner. I made steak fajitas for Tom's birthday dinner and it was pretty good. I tried to eat a very small portion but I still felt gross when I went to bed. The meds I take slow down digestion and it makes me feel ill. My morning blood sugar is astronomical again. I have NO idea why because I did not eat anything 'naughty' yesterday, and watched my portions. I have a few weeks until my next doctor appointment, but we are going to have to discuss this. It has been running WAY too high to please me, and with my ankle messed up, I have not been able to walk. I am very discouraged, and frustrated with it.

My order of bats (for my wheel) came finally yesterday, so I need to throw plates today. I probably will wander down to buy more clay first. I have been reading the book James bought for me and I have gotten a couple ideas I want to try...so I MUST work today!

I will check in later!

HI all!
I am at work so just wanted to drop in quickly and see what was going on. Glad to see every one is in the process of getting back to "normal".

Bob - The Bagna Cauda recipe is on the low carb recipes section of this board. Check it out!

Monet - are you feeling more stress than usual? That really raises my blood sugar readings.

Donna - how do you make the crust with Triscuits?

Gotta go - need to get some supplies ordered for the docs!

Howdy; Not much to report here. I haven't started my day yet. I didn't get to bed till almost 1 this morning. Steve came home early from work and we ended up staying up talking and watching tv. So getting around this morning has been slow. But I'm just staying in today. Later I'll do some laundry. And in a minute I'll make Steve his breakfast. So I'm boring.

Bob- a pot of soup sounds so good. I didn't get bones with my prime rib it was boneless. You always have good ideas. I also have some good sour dough bread to make sandwiches. Those northern beans sound good. Especially here in this cold weather. You sounded so tired last night I hope you got some good rest. I'm sure you're not built up good yet from being sick a while back.

Monet- Thats awful about your blood sugar being so high. What could be the cause of it? I hope your doctor has an answer. Have a good time in the gargio.....

Jakebabe- Sounds like you're awfully busy too. Have a good day.

Guess I'd better run and feed the man. He slid all over the road coming home last night in freezeing fog. Check back later.

Hey, guys! Guess who? I just wanted to pop in and say hello. It's a slow day at work today. I have a cold, wish I was in the bed. I'm trying to get back to Sugarbuster's. I think I'm in the lower 160's with my weight. I always gain from Thanksgiving to Christmas. My low is 157, which I'm hoping to see again in the near future. Today is only my second day back on track. I'm not as strict with SB as I used to be, not even when I call myself watching it. But this plan actually works for me. If I tell myself I can't have this and that, then I end up bingeing. So I keep to SB most of the time, but don't beat myself up when I don't. Alright, guys..I'll try to pop in again soon.

Boogie is doing well. We only go to the cardiologist twice a year now. He is 7 now and Ashley will be 12 in Feb.

It's HAPPY HOUR SOMEWHERE!!!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

I'm feeling so much better. I really didn't start feeling good until Christmas Day. That one really took the wind out of my sails!

Nothing new down this way, I've just put a pan of cornbread in for Kate to have with her beans. I'm having some Hickory Farms beef stick and gouda cheese. My work partner gave me a big basket for Christmas and in it was the beef stick, a big wheel of gouda, a bottle of chardonay, some york peppermint patties and a gift card for one of the Amish places here in town.
I kinda felt bad, I gave her a handmade wooden ornament (well, it was kinda expensive, but I got my friend's discount when I bought it) and I made her a from scratch spice cake/cream cheese icing. That sucka weighed about 5 or 6 lbs. It was a big one but oh so moist...this recipe was my GM's and there's close to a lb of butter!

TONI...I was dragging last night, but I think it was because it was my first day back to work and we were busy. Thanks for noticing. SO...what did you decide to do with your Prime Rib? You can always do a hot sandwich with that sourdough bread...tell Steve to be careful out there!

LAURIE...HELLO!!! Get your butt back here. You'll have to post some updated pictures of the Kids!

JACQUE...I'll make it over there to check out that recipe. You've got my interest peeked now!

MONET...are you feeling better????? Did you get your plates done? The MUGS were a hit!

Did Jackie say if they were going to Nashville to the BALLGAME for sure?

MONET...get those SHAKERS back out of the closet...we've still got FOOTBALL to PLAY!!

I'm off to finish up supper...

Howdy Bob- I'm going to try and make a hot sandwich tonight with the prime rib tonight when Steve comes home. He'll like that I hope. Oh you've got my stuff. I love hickory farms beef stick and gouda cheese is one of my favorites. I have a wheel of it in my fridge right now. I hope you had a better day today. Get to bed early and get lots of rest. Oh I didn't tell you I got Steve the movie with Adam Sandler you said was so funny and we watched it Christmas day and got a kick out of it. Well doing laundry so better run....

Evening! I have been the model of Sugarbuster decorum today. I was very careful to eat only legal stuff. Dinner was a Lean Cuisine with whole grain rice, and brussel sprouts. I had some bleu cheese and triscuits, and some brick cheese as a snack. Breakfast was a bowl of cereal and some coffee. I never ate lunch, but I did eat a grapefruit in there somewhere.

I went down to the ceramic supply store with James, and they were CLOSED! I about had a fit! So, no throwing for me today. They reopen tomorrow, so I plan to be there early. James is supposed to go with me, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get him out the door 'early', so I think I will just go alone. I want to get back and throw plates before my friend and her daughters come to visit around 2. I might be able to get 8 plates thrown by then if I get an early start.
