MELF: I always tell people you can more often than not get a break through with babies, pets and music. If your shelties are well behaved, try taking one of them in. That might get a reaction. It's not a cure but it is a comfort.
I take Bitsy in fairly often. She's a rambunctious puppy. Yet when I take her to the NH she is so good and they just love her. Lower level patients too. May good things happen, Shirley |
Can you stand one more?
Good Night Mom You Don't Have To Own A Cat To Appreciate This One! We were dressed and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on, covered our pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard. We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and we opened the front door to leave the house. The cat we put out in the yard, scoots back into the house. We didn't want the cat shut in the house because she always tries to eat the bird. My wife goes out to the taxi, while I went inside to get the cat. The cat runs upstairs, with me in hot pursuit. Waiting in the cab, my wife doesn't want the driver to know that the house will be empty for the night. So, she explains to the taxi driver that I will be out soon, "He's just going upstairs to say goodbye to my mother." A few minutes later, I get into the cab. "Sorry I took so long," I said, as we drove away. "That stupid ***** was hiding under the bed. Had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off, so I grabbed her by the neck. Then, I had to wrap her in a blanket to keep her from scratching me. But it worked! I hauled her fat *** downstairs and threw her out into the back yard!" The cab driver hit a parked car... |
Hello! Quiet on the board today!!
Scale was down a little more this am even though I had a peice of earthquake cake last night at the Relay For Life Chilli supper. The chilli of course gave me terrible heartburn which I knew it would...but ate it anyway. LOL We did well with the fund raiser. We had several things to auction off including a purple knitted hat & scarf set that I donated which brought us $45!! I was excited about that! I also got a sale for another set from the mother of the high bidder for a set. So I feel between the 2 items I donated & the sale of this set I will reach my lowest personal goal I had set. I've supported RFL for a number of years now but have never been on a team before. I was asked last night to be a team captain or co-captain for a new team that we are going to start through our church. It's great to not be working any more & be able to have the time & energy to do things like this. Dh is on call this week end so he had to go in to work & I've got the afternoon to myself. It's such a beautiful day that I've been cleaning & washing clothes. I don't usually do those things on Sunday but today I am. SEF you're right about babies & pets drawing out patients. I've seen it before as well. I would love to bring one of our Shelties to the unit. Mom has always loved them & I know the other residents would love it too but I've never asked. I need to do that. All the residents were soooo taken with my great-nephew yesterday. They oooh & aahed over him & my niece said even before she got to the unit with him they would stop her all down the hallway wanting to see him. & of course being such a beautiful child that he is added to that! :) |
Evening all. Wow the pages have flown by without me on it. I loved the chicken recipes and thank you so much. I ended up making chicken salad and some chicken enchiladas. It was so cold yesterday we couldn't seem to keep our mobile warm. I'm so glad its nice today. I've got some wheat bread in the bread maker right now. Hope it turns out good. I was to lazy to go to the store so am banking on the bread machine. LOL.... Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.....

Howdy
Life has been crazy, good but so crazy lately so I haven't been online very much. Eating has been so so. I just need to truly committ myself back to this way of eating. I'm still cheating a little bit almost daily.
Welcome M2A! You are right down the road from me. Okay, a little farther than that but not much. :) I'm up near Lake Livingston. I need to get but hopefully tomorrow will bring about a calmer week so I can take a more active part in the board. You guys are the BEST!!!! And I love to come and visit. Love and hugs, Crystle 235/179/155 |
Have two rounds on the border of the afghan and it will be finished. Don't know if I will be able to complete it tonight, my hands go numb and I have to stop and sort of shake them out and wait for it to subside.
Did not go to church today. I was up several times during the night and was just so tired. Poor excuse I know, but it's the best I can offer. MELF: I was surprised when I decided to take Bitsy to the NH. In PA it was required that the owner show proof of shots and a copy was kept on file. So I went in with vet's listing of shots and the recptionist didn't know what to do with it. She went to the backroom, came back and said they didn't require documentation as the dog wasn't being kept in the facility!! I would never have taken her without all her current shots. I also make sure her nails are trimmed. I hope you will take one of them to visit. It's really fun. One thing, with a slow board not many posts to answer. May good things happen, Shirley |
COUNTRY AND TONI:You posted while I was typing. Wasn't trying to snub you!! I'm having a hard time staying OP, but I will get better and so will you Toni. Like you Country I have to get committed!!

Hey everyone. Back from the retreat, which was nice. The speaker was so so in my opinion, but it was a great time of fellowship. I used the fitness center on Saturday and walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill. I tried to be careful about food, since I had forgotten to take my Byetta pen. I actually was able to keep my blood sugars down with out it.
On the way home, Tom and I stopped at Mark Of The Potter, and looked around. I love that place. I have a ton to do around here...so will catch up later! |
GOOD EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!
It's still cold here..I've got the heat up on 77 degrees which is very unusual for me...I hate furnace heat. Can't get my hands warm..yesterday, it was both my hand and my feet that were cold. It took all day to get them warm. I think Kate is getting a UTI...the last one landed her in the hospital and if y'all remember, her legs quite working and I had to sit her down in the bathroom floor and call the ambulance. I got her some cranberry juice and am pushing that down her. I'll call the DOC tomorrow and see if we can head this one off at the pass. I'm embarrassed to say this, but we didn't get up until 3p.m.! I didn't sleep night before last so mine was a catch up kinda thing. I really slept good, but don't like to stay in the bed that long! Makes me feel slugish! AMAZING RACE starts tonight...in fact in 4 minutes~! I love that show..it allows me to go places in the world I will never get a chance to travel to. AMERICAN IDOL http://bestsmileys.com/tvshows/1.gif starts officially on Tuesday...and SURVIVOR is on now as well http://bestsmileys.com/tvshows/2.gif I really miss NAT on the board...we always watch the same reality shows! MONET...Glad you had a good time and see what you can do without your pen when you try? Have you heard from TALATHA??? I really miss her. Would you check on her? SHIRLEY..When Kate was in the hospital (broken hip) I still had my DOXY Skeeter and would take him to see her. Everyone on the rehab floor just loved him. I can't imagine what they would do with TIPPY..she's such a sweet little thing and loves everyone! MELF...I LOVE CHILI...haven't had any real good chili in 20 yrs...we used to have this place in Lexington that was known nationwide for their chili..LOVED IT!! Congrats on your fund raiser..it's always good when they succeed. Well, I'm off to find some supper. Didn't cook today, so I don't know what that will be... BOB |
Hey I am new here, and would like to put up the cute little weight tracker thing on my posts, that some of you have...Also is there anyone who will check in with me once a day for the next 7 days or so, I have to let go of sugar because of a Candida problem, and I am really freaked out!
All my best, nycgirl |
Hey Friends!
Well...today is the day of our parade. I'm still bummed cause I'm not riding but I'm going to put on my costume and head out to meet my peeps for breakfast to start off "ride day." I have a DR appt this morning so I'm going to go to that and then head back to have lunch and hit some bars (alcohol free for me of course) with all of my buddies. It will be kind of interesting to see everyone while I'm sober! HA! I'm not sure if I'm going to go to the parade or not - I'll see how tired I am after today. NCYGIRL: Welcome! Well...Happy Lundi Gras! Tomorrow is Mardi Gras! Missy |
Happy Monday.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was nice. My DD had us over for dinner for my birthday. It was fun. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Just another day. I guess it beats the alternative, but I sure don't like this getting old thing. The weather is supposed to turn warm this week. In the 50's today. I am so glad. We got about 2" of snow Saturday, but it is pretty much gone now. I need some prayers today. My sister is having a heart cath today. She has had a couple spells in the past couple years. She had another one Sat and it was not a heart attack, but they want to see what is going on. Missy, well how was the party and all sober? Different perspective isn't it? Much more fun drunk. Ha ha. What did the dr say? Bob, Hoping you can stop that UTI before it takes hold. They can be miserable. How is she today? I had to laugh at your heat on 77. We never turn ours past 63. You would freeze here. Monet, good job on your eating and exercising during the retreat. County, come on, commit to 1 whole day w/o little cheats. You can do it and when you do, you will feel so much better about yourself. I'll help ya. Toni, hang on, the warm weather is close. Supposed to be in the 50's here today. Yeah! Melf, I commend you on doing the RFL. I have never done the actual relay. I have wanted to, but don't know if I can handle the emotional side of it. I have heard it is simply awesome when they light all the luminaries and read out the names. One year I will get to do it. Congrats on the scale moving in the right direction. Sef, thanks for the birthday wishes. I need to update my bio, I deleted everything awhile back. Well, my desk is piled high, and I don't know if I will have to run out of here, so I had better get busy. Have a great day. |
SOLLY: I'm back.....it certainly wasn't the same sober. I came home early...I actually cried all the way to the doctor. This is my most absolute favorite day of the year so it was very hard for me to see everyone having such a good time and partying and I couldn't partake in the festivities. I don't think I can handle going to the parade....
The doctor visit went great - everything seems to be going fine...I go back in 2 weeks. Well....talk to you later! Missy |
Hey everyone! I am working today...so I am all covered in clay and my hands are all dry. :) I am firing a bisque load to see how the kiln does. :woohoo:
I did weigh this morning, and was disappointed to have a two pound gain. I will blame it on having to use oral meds to control my blood sugar over the weekend. I forgot my Byetta. :( The oral meds make you put out more insulin, which can cause weight gain. FRUIT: I am sorry you had to give up riding on the float today. I know you are excited about the reason, but it is still hard. There is always next year. I am glad things are going well...will they do an ultrasound and will you want to find out what the baby is? SOLLY: What a horrid flake I am...I am so sorry I missed your birthday on Friday. I hope it was a good one. I will be praying for your sister. Please keep us posted.... NYC: :welcome3: Welcome to our little corner of cyberspace! We sure are glad to have you join us! Candida is surely a good reason to get off sugar! Sugarbusters is a great way to do it too! Have you read the book? You might find it helpful. To get a tracker, you can click on the user cp (control panel) and then on the trackers. You need to put it on your signature. Please jump right in and ask any questions you might have. I look forward to getting to know you! I hope you find all the encouragment you need here to achieve your goals. This is a great group...I think you will like it here. BOB: How is Kate doing? How are YOU doing? SEF: Isn't it a great feeling to finish a project? I knitted all weekend on a scarf for my son to use when he went to New York today. He left this morning WITH the very long, soft, warm scarf. I hear it is bitter up there right now! |
Good afternoon everyone. I'm surprised to see so money posts from the weekend. Usually hardly anyone posts. Now I have some catching up to do. My eating yesterday was bad. So to-day I have to get back on track. My sticker is telling a little lie now as the five pounds I thought I had lost last week didn't stay off. Now its more like two pounds. I'm wondering if my scale was a bit messed up that day. ;). Anyway it gave me a good feeling for a couple of days. I did my mall walk this morning - forty minutes as usual and this afternoon was at the hairdressers. So I feel and look a little better than I did this morning.:D
Fruit - Cheer up - you'll be able to enjoy the parade again next year. Solly - Sorry I missed your birthday but it sounds like it was a good one. I hope everything goes well for your sister to-day. Nycgirl - :welcome3:. Why don't you just join us on the board here. You will find lots of support. If you want to add a weight sticker click on one of the stickers at the end of anyones post and follow the directions. That's what I do when I want to change my sticker. BOB - How is Kate doing to-day? Hi to Sef, Melf, Toni, Countrymom, Monet. Hope I haven't missed anyone. Gotta run as I have a few things to do before getting ready to go out this evening. |
