MONET: I am excited about the reason - you know that! But - it's still hard. I do an ultrasound in 2 weeks - but I'm not finding out what it is..I want it to be a surprise.

ROSALIE: I'll be in full force next year!! I know it will be here before I know it!

Hey everyone...got swiss steak on the stove so this will be a fly by...

We're both better today. Kate especially...she's almost downed two big bottles of Cranberry since yesterday...and she said she isn't hurting anymore.

I'll be back later with more detail.s

Just a fly by...the kiln already turned off. I will not be able to open it until tomorrow sometime. I am hoping :crossed: that nothing broke...

I am working with porcelain today. It is very difficult to work with, as it is temperamental and can crack easily. I have not been very productive, but I am trying a new technique I watched a potter use on Sunday when Tom and I went to Mark of the Potter. It has not been an easy one to figure out, but I think I have the idea of it, and hopefully can master it soon.

Eating today was so so. I had a smoothie for breakfast, but got hypoglycemic mid morning and had to eat something, so I had juice, and some whole wheat pretzels. Lunch was a tuna sandwich on whole wheat, but I blew it by eating some chips. Dinner was a big salad with walnuts, bleu cheese and raspberry vinaigrette. I am out of fruit, so I need to go to the store in the morning. More important, I am almost out of half and half, which I desperately need for espresso in the morning....I may have to run out to Kroger tonight. Publix closes too early...Tom is at a session meeting and may not get home early enough for it. He took my car.

Later!

Hello ladies--

Well here is my official wieght now.....192 this morning. I can't believe that I have gained back 34 pounds. I have really got to get on the ball. I am seeing my doctor on Thursday, I have become so run down with all these hot flashes that I feel I am barely functioning anymore. I am awake all night long throwing off the covers and then retrieving them. Which I could tolerate until I started having them all day long too. I am totally ready to go back to having my monthly. At least then I knew that I was only going to be in misery for 5 days!!
Seriously, I am going to detox for a couple of weeks.....so my menu will be mostly protein with a few veggies. I am laying off the starches completely. I plan on posting my exercise and I have started using fitday again. I want to loose at least one full size for summer. I refuse to buy any bigger pants this year!! So wish me luck and lets get this ball rolling..........

Fruit-- You will be amazed at the differences of being a active drinker VS being the sober one. It is still fun to be around your friends of course, but you will soon notice their individual little quirks that the alcohol brings about. When we have our little get togethers on Saturdays, I am usually the only one not partaking......I can see the phases that each one of them goes through with each drink. I am usually the first one to leave also. Enjoying yourself is the main thing, and your reason for not imbibing it the BEST!! I am sorry that you didn't enjoy yourself this year. Just think, next year you will really be able to let your hair down!!

Solly-- Happy belated Birthday!! Guess I should have turned on my computer this weekend. I agree with you one hundred percent, getting old is for the birds. I hit the big 50 in January!!

Monet-- Glad that you are really enjoying your pottery. You will have to post some pictures of some of your pieces. We would love to see them.

Rosalie-- It is still a loss, so congrats!!

BOB--What time is dinner???

Toni48 02-20-2007 12:18 AM

Just a quickie cause I'm on my way to bed. Eating has been okay for the day. Need more vegetables. Had oatmeal for breakfast, a chicken salad sand. for lunch and a South Beach dinner for dinner. I really need to recommit myself to eating better and put some effort into it. I'm making a beef soup tomorrow. Have a good night.

Solly 02-20-2007 07:27 AM

Good morning. Ihave to get on here early or I never will find the time. It is quiet here with no one else here yet. I can gets lots done. Had to work until 6:30 last night so I was to tired to hit the gym and DH wasn't going either. So I did 30 minutes on the :tread: in the basement and called it a night. I guess better than nothing. I have bunco tonight so it will be a late night. Thanks for all your prayers for myus DS. All if fine. 2 arteries were clear and the other was just narrow in nature, not from blockage. They sent her home with instructions to take an aspirin a day and a script for nitroglycerin. That is good, but I hate when you don't find anything, and that means not finding an answer to your problem.

Missy, I know you wouldn't trade that baby inside of you for a ride on a float. There is next year and the year after. I know it was hard though. I'm glad you aren't knowing the sex yet. I think that is one of the last nice surprises in life. NO is so much in the news this week I can't help think about you and our get together. I miss NO. One of my fav places. Have fun.

Monet, sorry about your gain, but if its the meds, that's ok. Hope the stuff in your kiln is ok. I know you are excited. No biggie about the birthday. You have a lot going on.

Rosalie, that scale flucuates daily, so don't be so hard on yourself. Some daysmine is possessed and flashes all kiinds of numbers.

Bob, glad Kate is better and you too. Now stay that way.

Teensy, they can give you something for the hot flashes. I stated taking Neurotin for my neuropathies and that stopped them right way. Good luck on your detox.

Toni, hoping you have a good OP day!

Got to run. Have a great day.

fruitloupe 02-20-2007 10:43 AM

Happy Mardi Gras!

Well...I ended up going to the parade last night to watch my friends and I'm glad I did. The parade was beautiful! All of the floats were so nice and the costumes were so pretty. I stood on the side with my costume on...people were kind of looking at me like I was a little crazy. Like - why aren't you IN the parade!? When my float passed I got their attention - and all I can say is - OMG!!! They bombed us! It's so hard to see where all of the beads are coming from - I got hit right in the face with a big pack of beads. It knocked my glasses off and all!! I looked up and my friend was yelling "I'm SO SORRY!!" It was funny! I know she felt bad but hey - she had good aim! There were so many people and when they see someone getting bombed they all crowd around you - that kind of made me nervous - I thought they were going to knock me down for a 2 cent bead. We caught the parade at the beginning so we were home by 8:45. I can't wait to talk to my friends to see if they had a good time - which I know they did!

Well, I don't think I'm parading today - going to Wal-Mart instead while everyone else is at the parade!

Talk to y'all later!
Missy

Good Morning Ladies---

Woke up at 5:25 this morning and had to rush like crazy......I llike to get to Curves at 6 when they open. Our little group works out from 6 to 7, and it is a lot more fun working out when you know the people and can pass the time visiting. Eating was very good yesterday. I did have 2 sf fudgies (tootsie rolls) but that was it. A serving is 6, so I did the best I could. My calories were good, low carbs and lots of protein. I did a protein shake for breakfast and one for dinner also. Lunch was chicken, cottage cheese, celery sticks, cauliflower, and radishes with Lite Ranch Dip. I put a big red X on my calendar and will continue to measure my success that way. I also put up the letter C for my exercise. Hope this helps to keep my on track.

Solly-- Thanks for the heads up on the Neurotin......I worte it down and will check with my doctor on Thursday. I can't take any hormones, as I have had a blood clot in my leg.......hopefully this isn't one??

Fruit-- I am glad that you ended up having a good time. You probably ended up being the bead queen huh? Next year you will have fun taking your son or daughter to watch the parade, how great is that??

Will check back in later.....I am heading to town to have my nails done. See you then.

CountryMom4Him 02-20-2007 01:15 PM

Good morning

My scales are kaput so I can't weigh in this week. I've been good so far today. Only one bite of a no no.. :) I had some sliced turkey meat for breakfast.

Missy..I'm so glad you went to the parade and were able to have fun. ((hugzz))

Teensy...Your motivation is contagious. I read your post this morning and decided to follow your lead. I gained back 25 pounds of the weight I took off. I wish I could put the blame somewhere besides on myself but it is my fault...poor eating and very little exercise. Like Dr. Phil says you can't change what you don't acknowledge...err I love and hate that man...hehehe

Jackie...((hugzz)) You are like my diet buddy. Thanks for your encouragement. You always do such a GREAT job with your workouts. If that would just rub off on me.

Rosalie...howdy. I bet the scales will be back down this week. You know how easily our weight changes because of water.

Toni....((HUGZZ)) You can do this..we can do this. Too bad I don't live closer, I LOVE veggie soup.

Monet...I hope everything made it through the kiln. I think it is so cool you have a kiln at your house. Years ago I used to get the premade clay figurines on base and they would chage us about .25 cents per item. A few of the larger pieces were .50 cents. Man, that was ages ago. I can't imagine being able to actually put clay on a wheel and make something. I'd love to have a quarter of your talent.

Bob...I'm so glad to hear you and Kate are feeling better.

NYC...WELCOME! These ladies the BEST and I"m sure you'll feel right at home in no time. How has your first couple of days gone so far? Even though it has been five years this April I remember when I first started. The hardest part for me was that my family still got to eat everything I love. But that got better over time. I jumped back into sugar and bad carbs after my accident in October. This time it has been a lot harder to do what I know is best. But I'll get there and I know you will too.

(((Everybody)))) Each of you is a blessing.

God bless,
Crystle

Melf 02-20-2007 02:37 PM

Hello ALL! I'm down with a cold the past 3 days so not feeling up to par. I'll make it short. Sorry no personal replies but I scanned to check on everyone. Scale went up a little but still not bad. I'm holding on. Poor appetite & NO energy, horrible headache!!

Ellen 02-20-2007 02:39 PM

Hey everyone! Tom and I opened and unloaded the kiln this morning. I only had one explosion...a lidded jar with my problem...a fat bottom! The bottom shattered which is an indication that it was either still damp, or had an air bubble in it. There are a few odd cracks probably from uneven drying, in a few other pieces, but it everything looks fairly good. It was a small load.

I smashed up a couple of the pieces I made yesterday. I did not like them today. What can I say? I am VERY hard on myself....

Eating today has been so so. I had two eggs and toast for breakfast. For lunch I had some imitation crab/lobster meat...I found one with relatively low sugar....an avocado and some whole wheat mini shredded wheats with milk. Oh, and a diet coke! I was planning on making whole wheat pizza for dinner, but it is only going to be Laura and I...Tom has a meeting, and Justin is at work. I may hold off and make the pizza tomorrow.

 I will check in later! Where is TECH?

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 02-20-2007 04:22 PM

http://bestsmileys.com/sun/5.gif GOOD AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!

I'm full of snot today...can't get it under control...better than being stopped up though I guess...sorry for being so graphic....

I was checking my bank yesterday and discovered that the hospital has deposited over $1200 !!! http://bestsmileys.com/money/2.gif For the life of me, I don't know what this is for unless it's half of my Bank B (the bank I used when I was out with my knee) Kate says don't spend it until you find out what it's for....SPEND IT??? HECK...part of it is going for a years worth of car insurance...can't do without that!

My SWISS STEAK turned out so good last night! We hadn't had any for a while so I know that's why it tasted so good to the both of us...plus the fact that I haven't really cooked in over 3 wks either.

MISSY....HAPPY FAT TUESDAY TO YOU GIRLFRIEND!!!

JACK...Sorry you had to work late..that's not good for us old women to get worn out like that! Glad to hear your SIS did ok...I hate that she had to go through that to find out to take an aspirin, but better to be safe than sorry. Did she go to St Joe?

MONET...I'm so excited to hear how everything in the kiln turns out!

MELF...OH NO...Go ahead and get yourself some Walgreen's brand Musinex DM and start taking it...believe me get that crud out of you in advance and keep steady with it......it's a GOD SEND...also if you feel you need cough medicine...get DELSYM we had never taken this and after all we've been through...if we had not had this...well...GET SOME!! FEEL BETTERhttp://bestsmileys.com/sick/3.gif

COUNTRY...ya know, I'm not so sure that weighing like we do is a good thing...you might find you'll do better not being obcessed with that scale!

COLLEEN...if you start walking now, you might be here by the next time I fix Swiss Steak~! What about the little Deer???

TONI...I'll be right over...I'm a beef soup junkie

I'm sure that TECH is busy with work...I'll email her in a minute and see if I can get her to answer.

Ok...I'm off to do what I don't know....I'll be back later!

Good evening. Today has been great. My eating was good. I still need more veggies in my diet. I'm reading that book by Dr. OZ about dieting. I love the book and its so interesting. It tells all what happens in your body when you eat. And why you should lose weight. I'm only 1/4 of the way through it but finding it inspiring. I hope it spurs me on as I'm having such a problem getting back on track. I can't believe how long its been since I walked.

Solly- I'm so glad your sis is okay. Anything with the heart is so scary.

Missy- The parade sounds so fun. I can only imagine.

Teensybean- Your eating sounds good and you're doing great. Its so hard to get back OP.

CountryMom- I need for my scale to break its looming at me wanting me to get on it. Keep up the good work.

Melf- Oh dear rest lots and get well in a hurry.

Monet- What do you do with the imitation crab meat? Sounds like you're on the way to making wonderful things. Can't wait to see a picture.

Bob- Wow swiss steak and money what more could you want. Hope you continue to improve.

techwife 02-20-2007 06:08 PM

My ears must have been ringing because I just knew you guys were talking about me :s:

Yup...I have been busy with work and now the kids are off for the week and I took the week off so we could have some fun together. Today we went to the ski hill and went tubing. It was a blast and, as usual, I feel like I ran a marathon. Shelley brought a girlfriend and the girls were bored a half hour after being there, but Kyle and were reborn with the cool runs.

Tomorrow we're going to Clayton where they have a great big sledding hill and a skating rink made up. It should be packed and lots of fun...I just got the kids skates sharpened last week so they're good to go! I will be in my boots...we don't have health insurance, so no skating for me :fr:

Okay...spaghetti's almost done. Illegal spaghetti. In case you haven't noticed, I've been here purely for social reasons...I've totally fallen off the wagon for the time being...but the scale is registering the same, as are the pants. At least I think the scale is registering the same...it's the same old broken one.

Anyhow...back to the stove!! Just wanted to let you all know I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth!! Thanks for checking on me :hugs:

Ellen 02-20-2007 10:29 PM

I spent some time working tonight. I got a few small pitchers done, and will pull handles on them tomorrow. I also did some faceting. This is new since my former potting days. I see lots of pictures of famous potter's work with faceting on it, so I thought I ought to try it. I am not very good at it...yet.

Tom has gone into high gear on the job search. He had his final meeting with the consultant today, then went to the JAVA users group tonight. He got a bit of networking done, and a few ideas for contacts for his job search.

The cat just came in soaking wet and cold. It is raining, and the poor thing was out in it! I had to towel him off some.

I did not take my Byetta tonight...so I ate a salad for dinner. I hope my blood sugar is not too bad.

TECH: Thanks for checking in!

Now if GATOR and HEART would check in, it would be nice.
