  • Hey guys let's try and keep the mood positive and encouraging

My scale needs a new specialty battery. I think I'm going to wait a week or two to replace it. I stress over the scale way too much. I plan to be very good and hopefully be pleasantly surprised in 2 weeks when I fix my scale. I will go on leave for the challenge.

124chicksinger - hey Donna you always have the sweetest posts. Thanks for the encouragement I'm glad you seem to have a high level of mojo.

Themilesawaygirl - anything is better than nothing. At least you seem to be maintaining and doing the best you can. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten busy, used that as an excuse to pig out and put on some serious weight. An 80 hour work week sounds insane!!!

Pollifaxfive - good job with getting your exercise in. In college (for me) things tended to go very good or very bad. I'd go through stretches where I regularly went to the gym, ate relatively well, got my school work done and had a healthy social life. Then I'd have stretches where I'd get busy, stop going to the gym, eat poorly and things went to ****. I wish I had been better at not ditching the gym and eating right when I had a paper due. It probably would have made the tough stretches more manageable. Great job with getting your exercise in. I hope you meet a hot college guy at the gym
  • "I hope you meet a hot college guy at the gym"

THIS... I never wanted to meet a hot guy at the gym because I sweat like a pig and look terrible lol!!!!!!! I hope you do meet one too, and that he loves girls at the gym, those are the best guys to date .

Hoping for a loss this week, been stuck and I HATE THAT!!!!! . I want to see that 149 so bad it is killing me lol! Oh well, just have to keep plugging away, hope you all are having a great week and that we all see a loss here this week .

    Scarlett
-I felt the same way in college. Sometimes it would all go down hill and then it sucked getting back on the wagon with so much to do with school and everything else! I think I would like my scale to break LOL so I could just not even think about it for a week or two lol! Sending good vibes your way for a great 2 week loss!
  • Hi guys!!! I know I've been pretty quiet throughout the challenge on the thread, but I have been weighing in and doing all that I can to stay involved and positive!!! As of this afternoon, I am down a couple pounds from last week. Thankfully the TOM bloat and upped eating/food cravings are gone!!!

I've really been trying to push myself at the gym on the treadmill with my jogging. I set out today to run as much as I could without stopping. I managed to go 35 minutes with only having to step to the sides twice to wipe off sweat. I then couldn't handle it anymore and had to walk for a bit...but managed to do another 5 minutes of jogging before finishing with some more walking. I was so proud of myself!!! I still don't consider myself a runner, but I'm trying to see if I can build my endurance through jogging. My face is bright red still!!! I look pretty

Hope everyone's having a good week!!!
  • I'm really struggling with the scale this week, it does not want to move for me. I've been on plan consistently, so I'm hoping it's water weight... I ate out over the weekend, and while it was in my plan, it was probably a bit saltier than my home meals. And my TOM is due tomorrow. My challenge weigh in day is tomorrow as well, so hopefully I can post a maintain at least

    Good luck everyone!
  • Hi, everybody! I held steady this week at 152, which I won't complain about too much...despite my promises in the last thread to stay strong despite going through a break-up, the ice cream may have ended up winning once or twice last week. But I'm back on plan now and ready to see a drop in my weight next week!

Hope everybody is doing well and enjoying some beautiful fall weather! We've had rain here the last two days...I'm glad I've got new fall television to watch while I work out inside!
  • I just got back from running. Gearing up for my 5k this Saturday

    Munstermommy
    - I've got my fingers crossed for you trying to break into a new "decade" always makes me insane. It seems like the scale always seems to stall right when you're almost there. Glad that I will hopefully be "on leave" for my descent into the 180s.

    Chele615
    - glad you're down a few pounds and are motivated at the gym. I also love the flushed glow you get after a good run.

    Cheece
    - That definitely sounds like water weight. Hang in there and stay on track. The scale moves in crazy and mysterious ways, just be patient.

    Bronte155
    - at least you're being somewhat conscious of what you're eating. Any sort of restraint is much better than nothing. Think of how hot you'll look in a month or two if you run into your ex .

True, and I did at least write down everything I ate even when I was off plan! I think that helped keep things from getting *too* bad...

Good luck with the 5K this weekend!
  • @Scarlett, There aren't any guys at my gym, and I prefer it! I go to a women's college, and even though there are co-ed hours, no guys come anyway. Probably because they have their own gym and they know that ours is a tiny, female-filled area. It's actually pretty nice to be able to sweat without a lot of guys pumping iron nearby. The men at the coed gym near us are almost all athletes, so they're super fit and super focused. Most of the people there are the same, and it's kind of an intense environment. I prefer my tiny gym. There are always machines available, and there is a whole range of fitness.

@munstermommy, I sweat like crazy too! And I am not dressing to please me or anyone else at the gym, so I throw on whatever I would not wear on a daily basis. Right now, that's a man's t-shirt and sweatpants that are too big on me. As you might have read above, though, no men at the gym. So no problem. But I haven't met anyone who goes to the gym to meet guys. Do many people do that? I am not in the mood to chat when I'm working out. I huff and puff, and instantly reveal how out of breath I am when I speak. Good luck cracking the 159! You can do it!

@Chele615, Good for you! I always admire the people running at the gym. Keep it up!
  • I've been crabby a lot of sweets for the past two days. This is a sign that Aunt Flow is coming to visit me soon. Boy oh boy, I hate it when she comes. She brings cramps, gloating and a lot of cravings for sweets.
  • Sorry to have gotten off track. I lost my internet service because of a mix up with accounts. Back on track this week. Sorry again.
  • So hi to everyone on the "new" thread. Did that previous one really get to overflowing? WELL GO US!!! I've read all the posts here and want to encourage everyone to continue. It sounds like some of you are really taking the exercise very seriously, and I need to catch some of that motivation from y'all.

I don't know where I'm exactly getting my willpower from these days because certainly life has been handing me some lemons (with which to make lemonade.) The only thing I can figure is this weight loss effort is the one thing that is not beyond my control and I'm clinging to every measurable success. (Of course, lack of success can send a person reeling!) I took it so far as to tweak the program I'm on and make it even harder...lol Actually, it hasn't been so hard...it has truly been worth it since I kicked up my efforts.

I've been wanting mac n cheese - not the box crap, the real crap. lol Like baked and stuff. I never even make that when I'm NOT dieting...but I do love me some carbs! I keep searching for faux recipes and substitutes and I think when I do give in and make it, I'll be adding some cauliflower to the recipe to take away some of the pasta carbs and the added veg will be a real plus. Meanwhile...how to get rid of that pesky cheese hahahaha.

So I went to the doctor tonight and on his scale at 6:15 pm dressed with shoes I weighed 179. That's not my official weigh in--that's tomorrow. I plan to weigh myself in the morning and make a decision whether or not I'll just go with tonight's and skip tomorrow's altogether. Why am I scared of tomorrow's weigh in? Cuz tonight's result was just so spectacular. Its 1.2 since last week--but on my home scale tonight (which I promised to stay off of but, of course, I had to check it having just come home from the doc) I was 180. So we'll see what happens.

Continued good wishes to everyone and remember that every tomorrow gives us an opportunity to get closer to, achieve and/or exceed our goals. If you feel you messed up today, you'll have a chance to improve tomorrow.

    Hugs, Donna
  • Hi everyone, just checking in. I feel like I've been making a lot of positive changes this week. Cutting carbs a little has me feeling less deprived, somehow.

Scarlett, I just noticed that all my stats were removed from the graph. Is that because I'm "on notice"? Am I "on notice" because I put TOM for my weigh in last week? That seems to have been deleted from the googledogs spreadsheet. How do I go about fixing this up now? I suppose I didn't fully understand your response when I asked about that on Friday, I got the impression that it was OK to put TOM, but that I could also just put my weight or OL and not worry about it. Sorry about the confusion, I just don't want it to look like I'm not here and active and giving feedback weekly. Thanks again.

I was The Biggest Loser and on the Dean's List!!!! I cannot believe it. I'm ecstatic. Scarlett, you rock! This is just the motivation I need right now.

I cannot believe that we are 5 weeks into this challenge. Where is the time going?! I had planned on being a little further ahead in weight loss at this point. It's time for me to reflect on what I've been doing and perhaps tweak a few things.

So I am learning that just because my job hosts a party or an event with free food does not mean that I must eat! I can be just as discerning as I would be at any other time. If I like the food and I want some, I'll eat. Otherwise, I'll pass and get a drink and chat or something.

Also, I'm learning that if other people cannot accept the fact that I'm not hungry/don't want any food, it's THEIR problem. I don't have to eat to make anyone happy. After all, I have to live in this body, not them.

On that note, you all have a wonderful day of happy losing!
  • I posted about my scale needing a new battery and how I plan to wait 2 weeks to fix it. This morning I'm really starting to feel the anxiety of not being able to weigh myself. I tried in vain to get it to work this morning. It will be a good thing in the end though. Not having a scale has been keeping me crazy honest with my diet. I just want to see if I cracked the 180s

Paris in 6 - I basically said go "on leave" or post a weight. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I had alot of work to do on the charts this week (deleted like 30 people), rearranged the spreadsheet and just didn't want to deal with it. It's MUCH easier to have everyone whose not weighing in to go "on leave" rather than post "TOM" or whatever else. That's what "on leave" is for.

If I don't have a weight I need to clear the info. It affects the "total % weight loss" for the group. I admit it was a little nit-picky. I won't delete you this week if you forget to weigh in but try to do it anyway. Thanks.

FassGal - Glad you're doing well!!
