Talking

Hi everyone. I've been cruising around this site for a week or so and have decided to put in a post. I'd like to introduce myself first!!! My name is Heather, I'm 28 from Buffalo NY. I will be happily married for 2 years on Jan 17th. My husband is currently deployed in the Air Force. He's been gone for 6 weeks now and will be back in January. Thank God he's stateside in Washington DC....

Before he left I vowed that while he was gone I was going to get my butt to the gym, eat better, and loose, loose, loose, before he comes home. My goal is to be down at least 20-25 from when he gets back. I've put on about 40 since we met 4 years ago when I had lost 30 before from being on WW. So far it's been 6 weeks and I'm down 9lbs. all on CORE! I love it!! It's working well for me because I HATE to count points and measure things. I find I'm eating less because I'm getting satisfied quicker. I'm learning to know my limit and I'm not eating late at night and getting something from the snack cupboard just because he's getting up to get something to snack on. Plus I'm getting up 4 times during the week at 6:30am to go to the gym and going to a Hip Hop class on Sundays.

I'm hoping that I can totally change my lifestyle so that when he comes home I continue and don't fall into the same trap. It's all about making better choices. I think CORE really teaches you to do that!

So - - I have my weigh in tomorrow, hopefully I'll have lost another 2lbs, I just had a wedding in Boston and gave into some drinks. Luckily I saved up my 35 flex points for it!!!

Happy weekend everyone!!!!

Welcome, Heather, and congratulations! 9 pounds is 6 weeks is spectacular! I'm glad you jumped into the fray here. Hope you post often and give us your ideas and post your progress. Does hubby know you're back at WW or will this all be a happy new year surprise for him? I love surprises......unless they are the scale gain kind!

Thanks Vickie for the welcome!! I haven't told him completely but just made mention of going to the gym more. I think he'll be surprised but we've had MANY conversations while he's been gone and he's always said he loves me for who I am, not what I look like. He said if he wanted a skinny wife he would have looked for one. He says I'm his J Lo and he loves me for me. That's the best! In short, that's why I'm doing this more for myself than for him. Plus, if we wants kids I need to loose about 50-60 lbs to be healthy. Looking forward to participating in this and combined w/ the meetings I will definitely get a lot of help and motivation!!!

I've got the same kind of hubby and it really is freeing. The problem is that I don't like myself very much which is why I'm doing this. For me! He'll benefit because I'll be happier.

You're young so get it off while you can. It really gets harder the older you get. I'll be at this a while....with 150 pounds to lose. I just told my Niece yesterday that I'm not giving up this time...and I mean it!

Hi gang! Well, my Thurs weighin roller-coaster continues: two weeks ago I lost 8.8 lbs. LAST week I GAINED 6.8. THIS week I lost-- believe it or not-- 9.2 lbs! My leader can't figure it out. I had a doctor's appt this morning, and mentioned it to him. Could it be water? Yes, he told me, but more likely there's an easier explanation: WW's scale was screwed up last week! If I just totally ignore last week, I've lost 2.4 lbs in 2 weeks. Not a darn thing unusual about THAT My total is 21.2 lbs in 6 weeks. Again, nothing terribly unusual about THAT, either.

SO, I'm going to try to not obsess about the darn scale, and its ridiculous ups and downs!

Vickie, I always eat breakfast - cereal/banana/milk or oatmeal/toast/milk or cream of wheat/toast/milk. On weekends, sometimes I eat a southwestern eggbeater burrito.

For lunch I either eat a chef salad/milk or a sandwich/tomato soup/milk. Sometimes I eat cottage cheese/fruit (usually pear)

For dinner I eat a small portion of meat/rice (most often) or potato (usually sweet potato)/veggies/milk.

I also have a couple of meatless meals a week (beans/cabbage or greens/cornbread)

For morning snack I eat a combination of fruits with veggies like tomato/cantaloupe/avacoda and sometimes a boiled egg.

Every once in a while I eat popcorn in the afternoon--especially if I think dinner is going to be delayed.

I don't usually eat a bedtime snack--don't need it. Hooray!

I do get my milk every day. Maybe the hype about it helping you lose weight is true.

When I eat bread it is the lite bread (2 slices for 1 pt.) I also use the ff margarine.

I don't drink diet drinks. I do drink several cups of coffee a day with non-dairy creamer.

I tried to exercise at least 5 days a week. I alternate my exercise also.

Daniel, I sometimes wondered about those darn scales! At least I know mine is the same every week--whether it is correct of not doesn't matter as long as it keeps moving in the right direction!

Welcome Heather, hope to hear lots from you.

Hi Everyone,

It's really motivating to read these posts. I am so very proud of all of you. I am really getting into the exercise program. One of those circuit training places offered one month for free to see if you like it. It is similar to Curves--you stay in one place for 3 minutes and then move to the next item. You do this complete circuit three times and it takes 30 minutes. I have gone two times already and the 2nd time was much easier than the 1st. I also walked on my treadmill for 30 minutes this morning and then went bowling. While I am exercising food never seems to enter my mind.

I did make my own CORE potato salad. To cut down on the time I baked 4 potatoes in the micro and then cut them up; I added fresh celery and 3 hardboiled eggs. I then mixed it with ff mayo and mustard; a little salt and pepper. My husband thought it was very tasty and we just finished it tonight so it does stay well in the fridge. I served thin steaks from the grill.

Welcome to the new people and a big APPLAUSE TO ALL THE LOSERS!

Take care,
Nita

Thanks, Janette. You menu really helps. I'm not eating so differently with two exceptions. I am still eating a rather large dinner. Perhaps it would be better if I spread it out a little bit more during the day. The biggest difference is that I would never consider meatless.....but maybe I should! I am a big meat hound! I also almost always have my dessert in the evening. Nothing big, just SF/FF pudding or some other Core dessert recipe. I'm exercising 7 days a week and trying to work my way up past 30 minutes a day. I've also tried to increase my life activity. I'm open to new ideas so I thank you much for sharing.

Nita, I haven't tried Core potato salad yet but have a party coming up on the 23rd that I might bring it to the party. What does everyone use to add zip to FF mayo. Everytime I use it to make tuna salad, it seem flat. I've already added a bit of sour cream for creaminess but it doesn't help.

Core really isn't as bad as I first thought and now I don't think I can do Flex....go figure!! Txlawchic you are doing really well....kudo's to you!! Looking forward to seeing that next dancer :-)
WAYTO GO Vickie..!!! whooohooo!!
Janette congrats on your weigh loss too. Good job Daniel!! I like, Janette, go by my home scale for a more accurate reading....I just do. It's a "me' thing. At WW I want to get on the same scale every time, although they say they are all the same.....again another "me" thing :-)
We really are a bunch of losers, aren't we!!! (heehehe)
WELCOME Italy2076- good luck on your weight loss journey....you will do just great, as you have that positive attitude going on.!! and you are off to a great start!! It can only get better from here.
Nita, the potato salad sounds really good. I have a party to go to next Saturday and I just may bring that..Thanks!!
Well tomorrow is my W/I I will post and let you all know how I did. I have been very fortunate these past 3 weeks on core, success every week.....keep your fingers crossed....talk to you all later and have a great day out there............Linda

Hi everyone!

Sunny--LOL. I have to weigh on the same scale too. It is crazy but I do it anyway.

Congrats everyone on your losses. I am loving Core. It is finally becoming second nature and I have stopped worrying if I eat too much etc. I am fairly certain I can't go back on flex. I have a two week trip to TX planned (we are in SC now) at Christmas. Not sure how I will handle that. I might have to flex it those two weeks. Hopefully I will be at my personal goal by then and won't stress too much about it.

Here are my Core losses so far. I am back under goal thanks to Core.

2, 1.6, 1.6, 1.6, skipped, 2, 2.2=11 pounds in 7 weeks.

For those of you who go to WW meetings, do you know how many members in your group are doing Core? Our substitute leader asked our group of about 25 yesterday, and I was the only one who raised my hand. I do know that a two people who said a couple of weeks ago they were doing Core weren't there yesterday, but, frankly, I was a little surprised that I was the only one.

Here's my update:
Started Core on Sept. 24, which is also the day I stopped drinking beer. So between the two, I've gone from 160 to 148! I feel better -- probably because of both things but no matter what, I'm pretty excited about it. I even had a big ol' cheating day yesterday and ate lots and lots of stuff because I was supposed to work at the restaurant last night, which would have been 8 hours at the office and 8 hours at the restaurant (long day), so I was bulking up to have lots of energy ... but it didn't make a difference on the scale this morning, thank goodness!

Sheila: Those doing Core in my meeting of about 14 -- just me!!! I was very surprised too. They don't know what they're missing!
