Well, I guess it's my turn to introduce myself. My name is Torrey and I am 30. I live in the D/FW area and have just started my second career. I did WW 123 about 5 or 6 years ago, when it was introduced and it worked out pretty well. I have lost and gained the same 30 - 45 lbs. over and over since college and now I want to officially get it off. The summer prior to law school, I lost 46 lbs. by taking xenadrine, barely eating (if I did it was mainly protein, no carbs) and working out intensely for up to 2 hours a day, almost everyday. Yeah, the weight dropped quickly, but I was not happy, extremely tired and sick. Well, I've gone up and down during school due to poor eating habits, crazy schedules and intense stress. Now that that is all over I want to start over and do it right and I'm confident that this time is the right time. The CORE program is amazing, although I have only been doing it for a week and a half, I am very pleased.
It is wonderful to have the support that you all give on this board and I appreciate you guys being here, it makes this endeavor that much easier. Thank you!
Debra, congrats on the loss! That is great! You must be so thrilled to see your goal weight approaching! Are you going to start maintaining once you hit goal or lose a little more first??
Hi everyone - I've guilty of being a lurker, but now I just wanna be a parta the group!! My name is Terry. I'm 36 and I have 2 boys, 1 (Jory) is 11 & the other (Ronin) is 4. I'm not married but may as well be. I live with my boyfriend in Vancouver, Wa. I have 137 lbs to lose (Gulp!!) That's the first time I have actually figured out how much I need to lose and I'm tellin' ya, I don't like it one bit. On the plus side I have lost almost 7 lbs in the first 2 weeks of Core. What I notice most is that I no longer have cravings for sugar. I like what you said Vickie about it being a Marathon and not a sprint. I hadn't thought about it like that. I have to say that my boyfriend has been so supportive since I started this new plan. He doesn't question what I cook or the portions that I cook. This is a big thing for him because he really likes to eats big portions. I have been trying to cook only what I think we should be eating at that time. That way I don't have to worry about snacking later on. I am so looking forward to talking with all of you so we can all reach our goals.
Terry, we'll all do it together. I'll be here a long time looking for support and trying to give it too! I've lost 6.4 for the first 3 weeks of Core and I weigh in tonight. As I said earlier I'm fearing a gain but who really knows?!
I'll tell you what I tell my Niece....get it off before you hit 40. It's great that you have a supportive partner. My hubby is wonderful and I couldn't do it without him. Hope you post often.
I have to tell you that posting on this board and reading all your stories just makes me really, really happy. It doesn't matter if we're losing 10 pounds or 100 or more, we all have the same battles to fight. We aren't alone in this!
I'm not feeling very well, my tummy is really upset. Today I actually did points instead of Core because I couldn't face fiber at all. I've been eating bananas and toast and tea and milk mostly, although I ate some bland chicken stew for supper. Anyone have advice about what to put on a tender tummy and stay core? NB I cannot eat the fat free pudding-- it doesn't agree with me at all.
Debra I'm also in line to hear about what you did this week that made for such a great weigh-in!
Hi Novabubble...sorry about the upset stomach. How about a baked potato? For lunch today, I had a potato topped with steamed broccoli, ff cheese and pico de gallo. I'm still full! But maybe a potato without the pico might be okay.
Hi everyone.... still reading and monitoring everything. Have not been successful these last few days in doing anything much.... but seem to have gravitated to a few core foods - habit? Actually, they are so much healtheir.
Nova, I do remember that WW fat and fiber plan and didn't go on it at the time, but stayed on whatever other option there was at the time. The core plan, actually, is somewhat similar in a way.
Linda
Hi Robin. Sorry you're not well. What about some of the hot cooked cereal? If oatmeal is too "fibery" why not try cream of wheat for Farina. Yum...I always loved Farina when I was sick. Of course, I used to eat it with margarine and sugar.......
By the way, I got the gain I was so afraid of tonight. Up .4, after trying so hard. Well, I'm NOT giving up on WW or on Core. Better luck next week. That drops me back to 6 pounds in four weeks. Not great, but not awful.
Come on, Debra....spill the beans....help us out here!
HI everyone!! It's me L.J. Well I found the board! whewwww. Glad to see some new and the regulars here, guess I was one of the last in finding it, but glad I'm did.
I would like to say to LINDA in NH - I wish you the best of luck with what you choose to do. I read and re-read YOUR 'May the Force be with you' and it as helped me to stay focused on CORE!! Me, the non believer of CORE!! And I think it was Vickie's statment that hit home too.....or her husbands.....it a Marathon not a Sprint. Core really is doable. It does allow us to make better choice and if we want the bread or other pts foods we can have them, and we don't need to feel deprived.
I am finishing up my 3rd week of CORE and am doing well (past two weeks lost 5.5) so far and W/I is Sunday. I will let you all know. I started or should I say RESTARTED my journey 16 weeks ago, and thus far have lost 18 lbs. I am a lifetime having lost 55 lbs but about a year ago I something wasn't clicking inside me and I lost the 'umpf' after journally for two years - and was tiring of counting pts. Honestly I don't know what happened I fell off the WW wagon, very slowly however not realizing until my clothes were tight, and I could see a change in me in the mirror, and I surely did not like was I saw. Took a while before I couldn't stand myself anymore. I did something I never thought I would........gain some of my hard earn weight loss back. Something I thought I would never do. I was one of 'those' who swore "that will never happen to me" well I am here to tell you it did. NOW, I am focused and determined and doing well. It is what we have to do and need to do to stay where we ALL worked so hard to get and/or are still working to get there and stay there. It took me a while to jump over to Core, a lot of kicking along the way, I swore it wasn't going to work. I did learn however that I have to do it in portions and NOT depend on my comfort zone quite yet. I enjoy my CORE soup at lunch which I fix up myself and are very filling. I use FF chicken broth, some barley, some cous cous, peas and carrots, mushrooms other mixed veg and add a couple of TBS of Campbells Grean Pea (CORE) to thicken it and it is do dee-lish. It is totally satisfing. Sometimes I have a mix of Brocoli and Califlower instead of the P & C. I have not had bread in the nearly 3 weeks on Core, this coming from someone who had a sandwich at lunch everyday (1pt bread, but nevertheless, bread) I know we can have it on core but I don't really miss it for whatever reason. I am sure eventually I will have it though, like a light 1pt English mufifn with my REAL eggs on Sunday morning.
I am learning though, and being the SNACK person I am, that was the hardest thing for me. I have tried some Core snacks like FFSF pudding and such but.................
I also was not a fruit person, but since my inception to Core I have three fruits a day, so unlike me, but it works for me now, and Red Grapes are becoming my best friend for my midday snack. Janette (fiftieslady) got me into my fruit. Again, thanks Janette, and I hope all is well with you and your family.
I hope everyone else is doing well too. So many post to read, but I want to tell everyone here that this new board is great and we are such a supportive group, one of the best I have been affiliated with. I don't even go to anyother any more, just this one. Everyone is so responsive here, so thank you everyone. Hope to see you all here later.
I will try and read through them all later..........till then have a great day out there, and THANKS Janette for starting this #2
Later...........L.J (Linda)
Linda, glad you found us! Sounds like you are doing great. Definitely your head is in the right place. I, too, am really enjoying the folks on this board. I don't even look at the WW boards anymore. I tried to get WW to start a Core Support board but they didn't seem to have any interest.
I have made a couple of Core desserts that are pretty darn good. One was Peach Custard and the other was Chocolate Mousse.
Vickie, Hi!!
one quick question....I printed the recipes above but regarding the evaporated skim milk...is that the canned FF evaporated?? Please let me know
