Hello all; I hope I'm getting a fresh start today. This week I hope to make a pot of vegetable beef soup. I'll take a small roast out of the freezer today and thaw it for the meat. So maybe tomorrow I'll get it made. Lots to do today......
crayphish- This is such an easy way to eat and makes such a healthy life style too. And the whole family can eat this too. My DH does and I can add stuff to his like potatoes that I don't have so its easy to cook. My biggest challage is week ends. I want to drink wine with my DH and I lose all control on Friday till Monday. Glad to have you with us. We can do this.
Meowee- Oh no not snow!!! Hope the back gets completely better. I sure don't envy you with diabetes. Stay well......
Well better get off my lazy butt. Have a happy day......
Dull and overcast and cold and windy around here this morning -- but at least it is not snowing. Last night the local weather station guru was talking about Halifax getting over 39 cm (better than 15 inches) of snow on October 21, 1974. Hopefully that will not be repeated this year.
I've been gone shopping and out to lunch with a friend today. Had a great time and ended it with getting a flu and pnemonia shot. I got me a couple pair of sweatpants and some long t shirts for sleeping in. Came home and the book French Women For All Season's book arrived. Its the sequel to the book Skinny *****. Can't wait to read it. Maybe it'll give me some inspiration. Hows everyone? And where are you?
Meowee- howdy lady.... Oh my gosh hope that snow doesn't get you. How are you feeling?
Well took a little nap in my chair so guess I'll go try to wake up.
Good morning ladies, Tried to get on here last night but the computer gods had a different idea.
Had a good work out last night. Amazing how much harder you work with a trainer. He really pushes you. I tell him the weight is too heavy and he tells me I can do it. If nothing else, I'm losing pounds from sweat.
Eatng has been good. Of course, it is always good during the week. I have been talking with Gator Gal (who used to be on this board) and she has been inspiring me to make it through the weekend. We have a party on Friday night but I am determined to be 100%.
Meowee, 15" of snow in Oct??? I could not take it. I am already ready for summer and we are only in the 60's during the day and 40's at night.
Toni, We are thinking alike. My DH just suggested making veggie soup. Of course I got our of the store and did not pick up the stuff I needed. I guess that will be next week's dinner. Good for you gettng on that You rock.
Better get going. Just finished 2 hardboiled eggs and 2 pieces of sausage. My trainer said people who eat eggs for breakfast every day eat 36% less than those who don't. Don't think I can eat them every day.
Have a great day.
Good morning.... Brrrrr its cold here. I think we had a front move in or something. I just guess we need to send it to Solly. Boy I was pooped last night and slept like a baby. This morning I'm bundled up with a good cup of coffee. I've got tons of house stuff to do today. And hopefully will get a pot of soup made. And walk on my treadmill.
Solly- sounds like your trainer is a good one. Hope he does you some good. I wish Gator Gal was still posting here. I miss all the women that used to be on here.
Hi. I was doing intuitive eating, but found myself bingeing, so wanted to try something else. I have decided to go with the G.I. diet, does that fit in with this thread? I thought Atkins and South Beach would feel too restrictive for me. How does G.I. differ from Sugar Busters?
I want to lose 40 pounds. I'm 36 years old, five three, starting at 156 pounds. Ideally, I'd like to be between 120 and 130, I have a muscular build. It's nice to meet you. Any experiences on this plan would be appreciated.

It is cold here too. Looking for rain all day tomorrow and even colder. I hate to start complaining about winter already, but I'm tired of it. Went to the gym. Only got to do 30 mintues of my work out but I figured that was better than nothing. Will go tonight and get a good one in. I hope so, I am so sore today I can hardly move.
Toni, now you just keep that cold over there. I guess you all have rain too and will be sending it my way. I also miss all the old posters. Anyone heard from Ellen lately or Bob? I talk to Missy some via email. She is busy, busy and here kids are getting so big.
Jazzemgirl to our group. We are small right now, but hopefully frowing. Yes this is a low GI diet. EAsy to follow. Have you read the book? I orginally lost 105 lbs doing this. Have gained about 30 back. Best advice. Be prepared and plan ahead. Plan your meals and plan for when you go out. And don't cheat. I made it almost a year w/o cheating and once I did, it was downhill. Ask any questions, someone will have an answer. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Good afternoon buster buddies. Had to go to town and pick a box up at the post office and then stopped and had a cup of green tea with a friend. Its cool out today.
Solly- So glad you're getting exercise in. Sorry about the rain. I hate the cold weather too.
jazzmegirl- We're glad to have you. Sugar Busters is such a good lifestyle. Its easy to follow and a great way to learn to eat.
And a big for you AMIE . . . all of the low GI/GL plans are pretty similar to each other . . . think I did a little review on the GI DIET in the forum a while ago as a matter of fact. It is probably one of the easier to follow as it uses a listing of GREEN for GO (eat happily) YELLOW for CAUTION (watch portion size) and RED for STOP (avoid these foods as much as possible). Think you'll like it.
Well . . . I'm officially in a bad mood today -- going back on Insulin is definitely giving me better control over my blood sugar levels, but one of the things shooting Insulin tends to promote is fluid retention in a big way and I've gained 5 pounds this week. Oh well, we do what we gotta do. Hopefully this will eventually pass.
Weather-wise, today is definitely better than yesterday -- pretty windy but the sun is shining again and at least yesterday's storm only brought rain; NOT white stuff.
Hi, ladies. It was a lovely day here today, sun shining, with a bit of wind and fall leaves on the ground. I am tired after my workout. OP for my first day, so far so good. Meowee, you are right, B.I. is like a traffic light. I have decided to order SB just for comparison. I was looking into the zone, but didn't want to do all the calculations.
I realize I'm addicted to sugar and white flour. Bagels, pizza, ice cream. Though I exercise six days a week, the diet part has to come together, or I won't lose. How long have you ladies been doing this?
My Bf is a gourmet cook, though, if I cook healthy stuff for both of us, he will eat it. My family eats a lot of fast food. So, really, I'm looking for support elsewhere. I wish they wanted to get healthy with me, but, they don't, people are very attached to their food preferrences. I'm going to bed soon. Talk to you tomorrow.

Hey y'all, I am going to buy the SB book this weekend. Shoulda never given it away!! Our weather has been great. Low humidity and clear skies. I do love fall. Could not do snow on a daily basis. I am always amazed at how tough it is to live with snow.
Do any of you use the SB cookbook(s)? I have an Atkins one and so far everything is yummy.
What are some 'must have on hand' snacks that you love?
Looks like this morning will spell the end of our sunshine for a week or so -- but, along with the overcast skies and possibility of rain, we do get to enjoy balmy low double-digit temperatures (that's the low 50s in the "F" world ).
So . . . I'm off to run a few errands while the sun is still mostly shining this morning and then, hopefully, the weekend is looking pretty quiet.
My favourite snacks tend to be quite boring and run to fruit and/or yogurt -- I do mix NSA cocoa powder and a little Splenda into my yogurt and that goes a long way to satisfying my chocolate cravings (most of the time )
Ah, chocolate.....I do plan to experiment with cocoa powder and unsweetened chocolate. The weather is leaning toward some hot chocolate in the very least. Maybe some crustless choco cheesecake. The muffin sized ones freeze well.....
My guy is an at home gourmet cook which helped me gain some pounds....he's done well so far with the recipes I've come across. He DOES have to make them his own, tho, LOL.
