  • Hi. I will try the chocolate yogurt trick. I have my eye on the pumpkin cheesecake on the recipes board. Getting rid of all sugar, condiments, and white flour. I ordered the book, it should be hre next week, can't wait. Did my workout at the stroke of six this morning, quite a bracing way to wake up, but, at least I got it over with. Parent conferrences oday.
I am looking forward to seeing members of my former band play on Sunday. I haven't seen them for about two years.
This guy roks, or rather swings. He's about 70, a Jahovas Witness who plays ragtime piano, and makes the best coffee ever. He knows songs that are older than the ones I know, which is saying something, because I like really obscure jazz. Talk later.

  • Good afternoon buster buddies. I've got kind of a late start today. Glad to see everyone is doing fine. Have to run into town as soon as I fix Steve something to eat. I've got to make a birthday dinner Sunday. Still haven't figured out what but it might be steaks on the grill with baked sweet potato and a nice salad. I want to make a taco soup soon too.

Jazz- The band sounds neat. You're so lucky to have a gourmet cook in the house. I'll bet he can make some awesome sugar buster meals. I would love someone teach me some new things in the kitchen.

Crayphish- I haven't read the SB book for awhile but it sure wouldn't hurt me to once in awhile. I like to make a smoothie out of 1/2 cup of apple juice, a carton of SF vanilla yogurt and 3/4 cup of frozen fruit. Its good for an afternoon snack. Along with some nuts.

Meowee- Have a good day running errands. We've got a cool fall week end here.

    Off to make lunch.
  • Toni, thanks for the smoothie recipe, I'll have to try it. It's getting chilly here too. I'll probably make the Mexican chicken for dinner with brown rice. I had no idea you guys had so many great archived recipe boards on here. I could browse them for a year and never run out of new things to try. Did I say I want to lose 10 by Christmas? I think that's very doable. Two days in, and I all ready feel better, just having cut out white flour and sugar, and adding more protein. I think tis is something I could actually stick with.

  • i tried searching for the smoothie from toni and also your mexican chicken recipe, didn't find either. can you point me in the right direction for both recipes????? thanks ladyfirefighter
  • Hi, ladyfirefighter1. The smoothie from Toni is a couple of posts ago on this page. The Mexican chicken is on the recipe collection in the recipe forum, July-December 2001 board. Hope this helps. There are so many great recipes, I don't know wat totry first.

  • Howdy ho ladies. Lazy ole Saturday here in Missouri. Don't really have anything I have to do. Except later go up the hill to check our mail. We live a mile down a hill out in the woods and the mail box is on the highway above. Hopeing maybe we might grill some hamburgers for dinner tonight. I found the best looking stone ground wheat burger buns.

Amie- I'm glad you're liking this way of eating. Sugar is a downfall for me along with that white flour. I like this because you can make yummy things to feed others and they don't miss the white stuff.

lady- the smoothie is easy. A carton of vanilla SF yogurt, 1/2 cup apple juice and 3/4 cup of frozen fruit. Whirl in the blender.

Well still drinking coffee so off to get some more. Have a good day.
  • Toni, I think I'll bring a SBD appropriate meal the next time I see Bf. Impatiently waiting for my book. Any tips on what to avoid when eating out?
  • Amie- I go from the grilled, or broiled meat and a salad and veggies. And if you can get two servings of the veggies. But it depends on what kind of food you're going to out to eat. We're having hot wings, a salad and a baked sweet potato tonight. DH decieded not to grill burgers. I might have a glass or two of wine later.
  • thanks all for the info, i tried the searching thing, it didn't work tooo well, unless i didn't do something right, but thanks I'll check them out. ladyfirefighter
  • I found the mexican chicken recipe, boy you could spend two weeks just looking at all the recipes. thanks again and for the smoothie, i 'll have to try that too. ladyfirefighter
  • Well today is DH's birthday so I'm his for the day. I'll start by making him a big late breakfast. Hope everyone here has a great Sunday.
  • Hi . . .

Sorry I've been MIA -- little bit of a family emergency -- nothing horrendous; just a lot of silly running around that was very, very time consuming. Hopefully my life will be back to it's so-called 'normal' by tomorrow. In the meantime, gotta run again . . .
  • Well I made it through birthday Sunday. Cooked DH his huge breakfast. And we grilled burgers. I made him an apple pie but it wasn't even cut into. Maybe he'll eat some today. Here it is Monday and a new week to deal with. Its cool here outside with the wind blowing. I have to go to town in a bit. So how did everyone's week end go?

Meowee- Hope everything is going okay in your world today...

    Have a good OP day.....
  • Hi ladies,

It is nice to see the board picking up some.

well I had a great weekend. Eating wise that is. We wne to a chili dinner Friday night and only took 2 wine coolers with me. (not SB legal) I really watched what I ate and did so good. Saturday & Sunday was perfect too. So all in all for me it was a good weekend and the scale was not up 10 lbs for the first Monday in a long time. I got all my diuretics in this weekend and the scale showed it. My chili dinner turned out to be a Surprise Wedding. The couple 50+ had built this home together and living together a couple years. They went to Aruba and were going to fet married there and she backed out. So they had a relative that was a minister come over and they got married right there in their living room. They just wanted something simple and with all their friends there. Their kids weren't even there and no one knew beforehand. It was definately a surprise.

Toni, sounds like you had a good weekend eating too. It is very windy here and cool too. Going down the hill to get the mail is great, but you have to come back up the hill.

Jazz, gourmet cook or not, any time you can get someone else to cook is a great deal to me. Just give him some SB recipes.

Lady, glad to see you back with us.

Meowee, I feel your pain with the water retention. I have to take 3 diuretics a day to keep it normal. Hope things work out there.

Crayphish, Sounds like you are doing great with this eating. I had something to say to you, but I flipped pages and now I forgot and can't go back. Sorry.

Got to run log in my food so have a great day.

  • Using my laptop today and the slightly smaller keyboard is driving me

Other than that, relatively dull and boring day on the go -- also dull and rainy weather, but it's fairly mild at 17C/63F.

    See you later . . .
