heh, I'm pretty sure I'm never hypo. I've yet to see my bgl below 120. Well, it was 111 once, but never less than that.

I think I'm going to start testing more frequently. I really hate to do that simply because I'm a big baby and HATE needles, but I want a clearer picture of my levels throughout the day/night.

Sounds like a good idea and will definitely give you good information to discuss with either the doctor or the dietician.

BTW where are you testing? I sort of use my fingers in a ten day rotation based on the date -- for 31 day months, oh well any old finger will do. Unfortunately, you will become more used to the pricks as time goes on.

I test on the sides of my finger tips (not directly on the pad). My doc said it hurts less on the sides. I read online that the least painful site it on the back of the finger between the nail and the first knuckle. I tried it once, and it definitely hurt, plus you can't really squeeze to get blood out because it isn't as fleshy. I've read that the outside of the pinky is less painful and has the best blood flow, which has held true for me so far--I can set my lancet to a shallower depth an still get plenty from the outside of the pinky.

I read an article about testing on the back of the finger too . . . tried it; didn't like it. I use one of those metres that allow testing on the arm or the leg, but it doesn't work for me. I can't get enough blood out; might work for people with less 'padding'. Sides of fingers works for me, too.

Good Morning and Happuy Father's Day . . .

Looks like another indoor kind of day for me . . . Our official forecast calls for mostly sunny, but you definitely cannot tell by looking. Guess our rain yesterday was quite localized. Unfortunate, because today it's difficult to even guess at the weather by looking outside. There is a very large out-of-control brush fire raging just this side of Halifax (about two hours from here, luckily) and the smoke is definitely blowing this way. About 5000 people have been evacuated and so far there is only property damage but they just cannot seem to get control of the fire.

Anyway BGL was 7.3 (131) this morning and weight has gotten almost back to the 218's again . . . lots of water again today will hopefully take care of thiings because I have been eating well. Also plan to do a lot of Gazelling.

Hope everybody else has a great day . . .

That's right--Father's Day! I almost forgot!

My bgl was 141 this morning--not bad considering I forgot to take my Metformin yesterday morning and then proceeded to eat popcorn at the movies yesterday We also ate out all day (Panera in the morning and Cheeseburgr in Paradise for dinner), so my slight weight in crease is likely due to the excess sodium. Like you, meowee, I'll be poundin' down the waters today!

Good Monday Morning . . .

My day is looking decent -- both the weight and the blood sugar went in the right direction this morning -- BGL was 6.8 / 122; weight was 218.2. So I'm a fairly happy camper.

That fire I mentioned yesterday has finally been contained and all but 50 of the 5000 evacuees have been able to go home. The firefighters finally got a break and the wind shifted and blew the fire back where it had already come from and it quite literally ran out of new fuel. As of the early a.m. hours it was down to an area of less than 1K x 5K and by now it is hopefully all over but the cleanup. The smoke haze has definitely disappeared this morning, but it is overcast.

Nopthing else happening around here -- hope you are all planning an exciting and fun-filled day . . . See you later . . .

Cool

Hi, all. Overcast and cool here today. My kind of weather. Had another hypo on Friday. Don't know what's up with that. My bgl was 157 this a.m. Could have been that crab louie I had for dinner last night. Going to the fish counter these days is like going to Tiffany's. The crab was $33 lb.! Want to eat better this week but am very sleep deprived and that tends to make me want to eat more.
Meowee - Glad that fire is controlled. With all the rain you've had it's surprising. We haven't had any rain for a few months and there are a number of fires going on in the Bay Area.
Jeanne - Good for you on quitting smoking. I did it 30 years ago and it was very difficult. Remember that if you keep sneaking a puff, you're not letting the nicotine get out of your system.

Good Morning . . .

The lows could be connected to the Actos, Rosetta -- be sure to discuss with your doctor at your next visit.

Jeanne . . . . . . hang tough. Quitting smoking was the only thing I ever did only once. Had my last cigarette October 26, 1986. It was torture for the first few weeks and the memory of that time keeps me from ever wanting to have to repeat it. I know I could never be a once-in-awhile smoker. It's got to be nothing or I'd be right back to the 30-40 a day habit again. The good news -- after the first about 15 years, it does get easier.

Not feeling too perky today -- partly weather since it's pretty overcast and supposed to rain later one -- partly because this is the day for my annual Gyn visit -- partly because the weight blipped up again. Oh well -- everything on the list will pass in due course. At least the BGL was pretty good at 6.6 (119) this morning.

Hope everybody else has a good day . . . see you later
