Afternoon
Yesterday: I did ok with my food and I counted stuff. As far as exercise went
it was a sick day.
For me Byetta and Cipro aren't a good mix. I've left off the Byetta on some days while taking Cipro and have felt just fine. Yesterday I did Byetta and was sick as a dog the rest of the day. IN fact anytime I take Byetta and Cipro I get sick. I have or had pseudamonus(sp) so the Cipro was a must.
Most people get sick when they first begin Byetta. I never did.
The last Cipro was today. I'll go back to Byetta tomorrow.

My NP gave me Byetta because I asked for it. My A1C was 5.4 when I went on it. My appetite was out of control and I was eating everything in sight. Just couldn't help it. Most of my daily readings were under 110 pre-meal and 2 hour post meal readings were under 120 and sometimes under 130 when I went on Byetta.
At first Byetta did help with appetite. Now it has no affect at all. So it's not really solving the problem I've been using it for.
If the A1C is in good shape in July I'm going to discuss(sp?) stopping the Byetta.

Today:
Breakfast-ham biscuit w lf mayo
2 carb choices, 1 protein, and 1 fat. 250 cals

Lunch: I had a very late breakfast so I ate after the mamogram.
Classic Roast Beef from Heavenly Ham
4 carb choices, 1 fat, 3 proteins, and 400 cals. This is mainly a guess since the counts aren't in any of my books. Errr, or at least I don't think so since I haven't really checked.

snack: sf pudding w readdi-whip
125 cals, 1 carb choice

Supper: lf cream of mushroom soup and crackers.
4 carb choices, 0 fat, 300 cals

Exercise: I walked at the mall. If I feel like it I'll get in the pool

My mamogram went well. I go to a place where the doc tells you the results if you let them know you want to know. Usually he tells you face to face but this time he had his helper tell me. Which was fine with me. It's been awhile since I've been for one so I bet that's how they do it now.

I have a question: I have an enlarged lymph node. How often are you suppose to have an ultrasound done on those? This one hasn't gotten larger.

Meowee: please be careful with that foot.

Jill:Glad things are better w your med change. I think sometimes there's an adjustment period to these meds. I hope your tummy is much better soon
My daughter is highly alergic to sulfa drugs. She likes to see German docs. She's always very careful to tell about this alergy. Well several years back she was in a German hospital with kidney stones and they were treating her w sulfa drugs.
She died from anaphylaxis. It tooks several tries but they got her back. Her health hasn't been good since.

Rosetta: I hope work is better. Your right people do react differently to meds.

Kathy: I've been in the hospital twice since I was dxed with T2. In 2005 I had flu and he gave me a choice. I chose the hospital. No one paid any attention to the diabetes until I showed my meter readings and bg chart. They got busy and called my doc. He contacted an endo in Tupelo and she said Humalin. When I had my knee done I was under the impression from joint class that I would be given my normal meds. No go. The medical doc I had to see prior to the knee was in his 80s. My local doc/NP is located in Booneville
and practice at the hospital here. I can understand people sticking with things that work. My CDE told me that they would give insulin for readings 120 & above. Thank you for all of the information.
I'm sure the group that visited your unit was no fun at all. If it's anything like a State Dept of Eds visit it's awful for several months before and they like to find something wrong before they leave. In fact you can bet they will find some wrong even if it's minor.

Hi to Jeanne and Peggy. Hope you both had a good day.

Thank you for the useful websites, Rosettastone. I had forgotten about CalorieKing. I'm going to begin using it again.
Thanks for jogging my memory

Good evening, all. Did you have a good day?

I was having a good day until I got mad when I checked my bgl at 4pm, and it was 101. So as I was eating my snack, I got to laughing at myself, because it dawned on me that with those surveyers around, and the surgery cases came out rather weirdly, I didn't get my morning snack until 11:30 and got sent to lunch at 12:10. Duh! Got to dinner a little late, so I will check my sugar just a little later tonight.

Got around to checking on avatars and trackers and found things I liked. The beach reminds me of the condos we own in Cancun that we rent out. Let me know if you want to go on vacation--just might have a place for you to stay! Ladybugs are special in my family. It's a long story for some other time, but suffice it to say that we know my dad is checking in when a ladybug comes around. They show up sometimes in places they shouldn't be (we had one in our car in Monterrey, Mexico on vacation in March visiting my husband's family) and they tend to show up at family events especially if the grandkids are involved (one rode to church on the new baby's christening gown right after dad died, and on christmas trees during the holidays). Found one in my bathroom the evening my son went back to school in Chicago last month. We told my mom that she had better send us as clear a symbol when she dies. She just keeps telling us to behave so she doesn't have to haunt us instead of being nice like dad. It wasn't easy getting that signature to work, and I had just been complaining about it on the other thread, when all of a sudden it popped up. It's got my short term Christmas goal on it. Of course, if I lose weight when I weigh in tomorrow, it could take me half the day to edit it!

brn, I am on Advair, and have never used any of the nebulizers. It doesn't seem to be affecting my bgl even on the higher dose or if I take it twice a day on vacation. If the bgl goes up, it is usually whatever bug has caused my asthma to worsen. But I have been on steroids for other reasons, and that is the worst. Not only does it jack up the sugar, I get severely depressed. The last time I was on steroids, my younger son was so upset because I had been sitting in the same chair, in the same clothes, staring off into space for 3 days straight and he had been taking care of his sister as best he could (she was 7 then and DH was out of town). Hadn't eaten, drank or been to the bathroom in all that time. Can't even use topical steroids for more that 3 days, or it starts to affect me. I know how it makes most people hyper, but not me.

Jillybean, I have been saying that for as long as I can remember, and have no idea where I got it from. Probably in middle school because I didn't like the ever-popular ones floating around. My other favorite is "that sucks raw eggs", from high school. It usually makes someone smile!

Jeanne, what was with all the blah blahs?

See you in the morning! Kathy

I hope everyone has a great day. a little about myself: was diag in 06, followed the carb counting of 45 for each meal, 15 for morn/after snack, 30 evening snack, lost over 70#s. than doc decided since numbers were great a1c was 5.3 it was time to quit smoking, ok, did that (1 1/2 yrs now). put on about 20/25#s. than worked hard to take that off and was a struggle for a year, found out smoking raises metablism, so that went way down. than tore a ligiment and 2 tendens in ankle (1 yr ago) still healing. in may of this year had to have a bladder tack done, while they were in there they found i had a herniated bowl, and a the vaginal wall had fallen in. so had allot done. sugars running good, but have gone up. i was put on sit/bed/couch rest, don't lift over 10#s, no exercising, walking, nothing for 6 weeks, i had 2 doctors. had a 3 week checkup and was extended another 6 weeks, had a 6 week checkup extended another 6 weeks. so that brings me to today. i am going out of my mind and want so bad to be somewhat normal again. i want to get back on the treadmill so bad. i have been following sb for almost a week now. i think i like my carb counting better. most likely go back to that in time. number this morning was 113, normally it is in the 80s to low 90s. dh keeps telling me its not moving around. i can now walk around some, still have to watch it. that's my story in a nut shell.
just wanted to drop by and say high.

Thumbs up

The more the merrier, I say, Chipper! And the more wisdom, the more it helps me.

I did good girls! A whole 5 lbs (the 3 I gained last week plus 2 more).

Was up a bit on the bgl before bed, 116, but that was probably the chocolate mousse at dinner at Applebee's. Thank goodness those dessert shots are small. 102 this morning, so that's good. Need to finish planning the rest of the day, but I needed to clean up the floors before the cleaning lady comes. It gets so messy when I work, 'cuz no one else picks up except DH.

Talk to you later
Kathy

Hello to all and Welcome to the Newcomers,
I had a reading of 107mg/dL !!!!!!!!!!!! Wow I like that feeling! Usually never lower than 150ish and as high as 230ish. Maybe things are beginning to fall into place? Let's hope so!
We are headed to our cabin in TN in the morning and it will be Tuesday before I get back online. This one should be some more trip, I am taking my 3 dogs with me! I hope we will be bringing them back in the RV we are going to look over to purchase. Say a prayer for us this weekend.
I hope all of you have nice weekends as well!

PeggyJ--Wow! Good for you Hope it really is turning the corner for you. Have a good weekend, and be safe.

Meowee--I'm sorry you feel bad. I don't care where they come from, migraines are bad news. I only had hormone induced ones as the menopause thing was going on, and that was just about enough. Had one last week, though Put your feet up and hope it is better tomorrow.

The temperature isn't so bad today, but it is soooooo humid. Yck

How's everyone else doing? Have a great weekend, all.

Found this new tool in a magazine this week. Very nice, especially for travelling, and it is free (as in not a subscription). On your cell phone, you can write a text message to your favorite restaurant, nationwide chains mostly, and a food item--say, Wendy's small chili--and send it to 34381 (DIET1), and it will send you a message about the nutritional content of the item. I laughed when I first read it, because whoever wrote the article wrote the instructions backwards But I tried it the way I thought it should go logically and it works. I'm sure you have to pay whatever you normally pay for texting, but what a great idea when you're either on the road, or you wonder whether that Steak Gordita will fit in your lunch plans.

Dang, I had a question to ask, but now that I have started, I can't remember what it is. I'll post it later if I think of it.

Kathy

Good Morning . . .

Yes indeed . . . the headache is down to just a niggle today even though there has been no change in the weather -- instant replay of yesterday; but it is a little cooler. Still have the extra 1.5 pounds of water weight and the puffy ankles though, even though I did eat sensibly yesterday and the BGL is down to just "too high" at 7.7/139, rather than the "OMG high" of yesterday at 9.3/167. Will be slugging back lots of extra water today and doing a 5K on the Gazelle in the hopes of moving that sluggish water on out of me.

Hope the rest of you have a really great Sunday and are getting better weather than we are. . .

Hi there, Sugar-Babes,

No Jeanne . . . afraid I've never bought or sold on ebay . . . nor have I heard of Dave Espion . . . what is his 'package' about?

Yesterday worked out well for me -- the headache seems to have become a thing of the past this morning and I finally got rid of the water weight and got back to my 214.5 weight again. That gives me an average for June of 218.8 or another 3 pounds sent to ugly-pound-heaven. Of course, changing scales probably had a lot to do with it, but I've changed my ticker to reflect a new and lower decade at long last; so I really don't care how I got there, I'm claiming it. The bad news is that while the weight went down the BGL is back to "OMG".

Looks like we are going to get some "sunny breaks" today to make life worthwhile for all of those who booked off for a four day weekend. Officially the holiday is tomorrow, July 1. It is supposed to stay pretty sticky though and think I'll be sticking close to home and doing my exercising on the Gazelle again.

Hope everybody has a great Monday and decent weather for whatever you have planned. See you later . . .
