Default Instead of Lurking here I am!!

Ok, here I am starting Phase 1 for lunch. I wrecked it for Breakfast by having an English Muffin. But as long as I start right??

I want to get 50 lbs off me. And I know I can do it but I have to get some support so why not here?

I work full time (off today), have 2 busy independent children (ages 21 and 22) My 22 year old is off to Teacher's College in London Ontario on Thursday. I will miss her, but she is only 2 hours from me instead of the 6 hours she was during her undergraduate work in Sudbury. My 21 year old is working but living at home. He is the picture of healthy, fit living. I want to copy him, but know that I can't keep up with that. But if I do half then I am there! Married 25 yrs and he says he could stand to take off some poundage too, so if I cook healthy it will happen to him overnight!

My promise to me is to check in every day, keep a journal of food (keeps us honest), walk and keep a positive attitude.

So here I go........... and excited about it!

Default WOW!! Can't believe it

I was SOOO skeptical. I wasn't too far off of SBD before starting, but being strict has really made a difference. 5 lbs after first week. Been easier and easier to pass up on sugar and carbs (although kind of still want them out of a boredom issue).

Great finds:
stuffed mushroom caps (with ricotta, feta, garlic and sauteed mushrooms)
cheese crisps - baked cheese crisps
sugar free gum - lots of different flavours lying around to satisfy cravings
sugar free jello - yum

I'm starting phase I after Labor Day. I'm busy gathering recipes and forming a plan. I just ordered the South Beach Diet CD, The South Beach Diet Quick and Easy Cookbook, and the The South Beach Diet Dining Guide: Your Reference Guide to Restaurants Across America, all from amazon.com from the advise of someone on here.
I want to be armed with enough information to be successful and to help friends of mine that are thinking of starting the plan.

As soon as I start, I'll post things that work for me.

Hey everyone. I've been at the dieting game since June and have been struggling to get each pound gone. I think the two big parts of my struggle are my PCOS and my addiction to carbs. I'm hoping SBD will help me curb that addiction. And from what I understand people with PCOS's bodies have a tendency to cling to sugars/carbs. How many SBD'ers here have PCOS? Have you had good results?

Anyways, DH's B-Day is Sep. 1st and we're going out, so I'm going to start eating SBD on that following Monday (Sep. 3). The only other question I have is what are your favorite recipes? If you could just name a few? Don't worry about typing them out. I'll find them on the site.

Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone, ,

I thought I would pop in and say hi. I started Ph1 again w/DH on Monday.

I have been on the SBD since March but went off track last month when I gained 2 lbs. When my hubby decided to start I thought I'd be the supportive wife and start along with him. ( never hurts to start again )

Well, the past 3 days have been great. I have so far lost 5 lbs and DH 6.5 (I hate men). I must admit though yesterday I was feeling nauseas and lightheaded. I never felt that way when I first started in March, maybe it has to do with the heat. Thank god today I am feeling better.

Well, Good luck to everyone and hope you all reach your goals

Hello Phase 1ers, just popping in to wish you luck!
Hi Myra! glad to see you're back on track!
MarinePrincess, here are my faves so far:
Oatmeal Breakfast Bars
Refried Bean Soup
Mediterannean Chicken
Apricot, Goat Cheese, and Pistachio Salad
All very yummy! But the breakfast bars and salad are for Ph2.
These are all in the SB recipe section. I'm having fun trying lots of different recipes. You can really eat well on the beach!

Hi everyone! I am gearing up to start phase 1 on Monday! I've been gathering recipes and getting a grocery list together to go shopping tomorrow in preparation. I was on the Beach 1.5 years ago and had great success in losing 30 lbs! I somehow managed to keep it off, but I still have another pesky 40 to lose! Just popping in to say hello!

kmelody, that's amazing that you're able to maintain your previous weight-loss! That means you did it right and it stuck. Congratulations on that and good luck on your next 40; you'll do awesome.

I have a question for everyone. DH's going to try SB with me and I told him some of you ladies lost 5-7 pounds on P1. Was I right? Lol, I'm just curious about how much people lose in P1.

Hi all, new here.

I guess I'll be "officially" starting Tuesday. Monday's my birthday and I know we're having sweet items after dinner.

I'm lucky -- not too addicted to breads, pasta, or a lot of carbs. My weakness is popcorn, and fast food. I have 2 little kids, and my menu planning has been sporadic at best.

Question: I *know* fresh food is best, but I really struggle with lunches at work, and planning ahead can be problematic. Will SB branded frozen entrees work for lunch? Do you have any other brands/types/suggestions? Feel free to PM me or point me to a thread where this has been discussed. I have been digging around here for a couple of hours but haven't found a definitive answer.

Not sure what else to say... I did Atkins successfully in the past, but am finding that hard to stick with current lifestyle. It was easier when I was single. LOL

My aunt and uncle have had tremendous success with SB, and I know I need to do something *now* before I lose all hope.

Thanks, looking forward to this, really. I'll be pulling out my copy of the book and re-reading today.

Hey I'm back to join in one Phase 1. We're all moved and settled and I'm ready to kick butt today. I'm going to the store to today to get all I need to stay on SB and not fall off. My weigh in will be on Wed's since that's when I really started I lost 2lbs but wasn't being as strict as I need to be. I'm gonna do that this time I've got over 100lbs to get rid of and am on a mission to get it gone for good now.

Hey All,

I need a refresher course in Phase 1 myself. I started here in June of 2007 and did fairly well until I sold a house, bought a house, packed, moved, unpacked and did all that extra stuff that takes one's attention off healthier eating habits. After a much-needed holiday weekend with friends, I'm ready to get back on track to giving myself the best birthday present ever: another 20 lbs. lost.

So I'll be rejoining you ladies here for at least the rest of this week. My plan for today is to make menus, do whatever shopping is needed, get in an hour's worth of exercise and dig my toes firmly back into the sand here on the beach. No scales yet for me!

Hey Ally, what's the Thanksgiving challenge? Can I join?

I need a Thanksgiving Challenge too. We'll be going to visit family, some of whom I only see once a year.

I am restarting today. I lost about 40 pounds a few years ago and fell back into bad habits. Looking forward to feeling healthy again.
