No, No, No, No, No.
I do not think you are being petty. Just recently I found myself some jeans that work well for me and they are the right price too! So, I now have 3 pairs- 2 in dark denim and 1 in black (I can wear tthe black ones to work- so I plan on getting another pair )
I like the idea of even extra incentive to maintain!!

Morning, peeps! The Christmas bloat is coming off...still no sign of TOM, which is weird...guess throwing off the eating plan over 2 days messed things up...? Anyway, down another 0.8 to 184.6 this morning...heading the right direction, at least! Yesterday was not a regular lifting day for me, but I felt like doing something different, so I did the Crossfit WOD, modified for my wimpiness, of course. I feel so inadequate with those olympic lifts, but it was fun to try, though I'm sure my form wasn't great. Still got a good workout in record time, though.

FB, do you take any supplements for lifting? I've been using the protein for a post WO shake, which I like, but I was reading some old posts on the lifting forum and saw folks talking about creatin and some other stuff that I have no idea what it's for. Just wondering if you know more than I do about that stuff. On T-nation they're always recommending this or that, but since they seem to be making money off selling the stuff, it doesn't inspire me to take their word for it.

Heya Jamster-

My trainer and her husband own a supplement store/gym. I asked a ton of questions and watched what they do and have come to determine that a lot of supplements are unnecessary. I follow their recommendations...

I take BCAA (branched chain amino acids) pre and post workout. These, in layman's terms - help to fuel the muscles and prevent muscle breakdown as body fuel. This is supposedly very important during weight loss. I have NO DOMS when I use it regularly. It really helps with the pain. I'd take it for only this reason, it truly works.

I also take ZMA (Zinc Monomethionine Aspartate plus Magnesium Aspartate and vitamin B-6). Traditionally a men's supplement, but also used by women. Helps with muscle growth and sleep. I care about the quality sleep.

I occasionally use protein shakes - but have come to rely more on food pre and post workout. I also use energy drinks before and during lifting sessions to help with a boost.

I have taken creatine, but did not care for the side effects of MAJOR MAJOR water retention. It is basically a muscle fuel source - I think people use it for explosive lifts and strength. Some silly guys at my gym like it for big puffy muscles (the water retention). If I were to get more into weightlifting where I needed the extra boost during my workout I would consider it, but at this time I'm happy with my progress. It's a good supplement though.

Both BCAA and ZMA are super affordable. I paid under $10.00 for each. I always take the capsule form, not powder. The taste is terrible.

HTH!

FB, thanks for sharing that with me...I've never even heard of those That ZMA is a mouthful! I will check into those two, since they sound good, plus I was thinking of starting up with a B-6 so the ZMA would be in line with that. I might also give glucosamine (is that the same as glutamine?) and/or MSM a try, since I tend to abuse my joints pretty regularly. Maybe I could use the creatine to reinflate my boobs. I figure National G (o-graphic) will be calling me soon to shoot a cover.

I've been reading some of the old BFL threads from the lifting forum...great stuff in there, though the vBulletin search engine is a PITA when searching for older stuff.

Hello Chickies I haven't posted since 10-08. I have been doing pretty well. I have almost met my New Year's Challenge Goal. I am at 200. Wanted to be in Onderland on 01/01/2009. Almost there. Hope everyone is doing OK.

Sorry, POP Spitty Kitty! I was going blind on the ExRx site today, trying to get a new weight lifting routine together. Well, that only took 3 days...on to cardio!

I have been POP today, though, and will join you on that tomorrow. In case I don't check in here in the morning, just know I'm doing it, too, and I'll report in at some point! (gross...cat germs!)

Wowwowwow, SW! ONEderland, here she comes! I see a coveted Flamey Award in your future! (yeah, I'm psychic)

BBB, I have been drinking my water today, too! You're still the boss of me, though.

Hey all, gearing up for the New Year, New Me challenge, as well as adding some calisthenics to my routine. My calories have not been "clean" the last couple of days, but I haven't really gained anything, either.

Oh - sorry! I was at the chiropractors and then later just lying in bed in a fair amount of pain. It seems I shifted a bone out of place in my spine from the weightlifting It happened in August and yesterday I finally got to the point where I couldn't tolerate it anymore. Heh, I gots my exercise in first at least

POP Tuesday! Here's to it! It's 6:45 a.m. and I'm blackening catfish and grinding espresso triple shots with chicory for breakfast. Beautifully yum and ew all at once! I'm a cajun girl at heart, just born hundreds of miles up the Mississippi too far.

What brand of jeans spitty kitty? Did you buy all those varieties in the same brand?
