Hi, KarenFL, thanks for asking! I've become a firm believer in the cold compress, and the dishwashing liquid freeze pack thingie works well. It's flexible. I'm pretty good some days and very bad on others; I never quite know what provokes it. I appreciate your tip!!

Did anyone look at the Jacquie Lawson card I sent? I thought it was very suitable for Easter!

Went to the garden store and bought 25 bags of bark, 18 strawberry plants for my upside-down strawberry grower, 36 pansies, and a huge bag of potting soil. $130 for the entire bill, and I thought that was not at all bad. I'll be busy for a day or two! LawnGod came and mowed for the first time today, and LandscapeGod will be here next week to make sure the sprinkler heads are all working okay. That should be it 'til next year! Commence whining about the heat... soon!

Wow. Suddenly I'm exhausted! By the time I head back to work on Monday, I'll really be dragging. Big birthday bash on Tuesday night, and since nobody ever knows what to get me, my birthday surprise for this year was a week at the end of June at a beach house on the ocean in Rhode Island with six bedrooms and three bathrooms - that's so the whole family can go together! They said they combined my two favorite things - being with my family and being at the beach - and they were absolutely right. Perfect gift!
Okay, so we went biking again on Tuesday during the day and Thursday. Both days we did over ten miles...brought dgd, did five miles, stopped for lunch, and did five more miles. Today, dgd had to have surgery - had the pin taken out of her arm - and we stayed with the twinnies so her mum & dad could be at the hospital with her. Had them out running around the back yard playing kick ball, sliding, swinging, running and jumping. Tonight, like I said, I'm as limp as a dishrag and in need of rest. No biking tomorrow, I don't think; it' supposed to rain and be chilly out. Ack. I wanted to get all my summer clothes out while I was home on vacay, but I'm thinking it may be a little too soon hereabouts.
I saw the Easter card, PT. Nice. Thanks for sharing.
Karen, you look beautiful! And you're only HALF done? Good lawd, woman? You plannin' on bein' a movie star or sumpin'? Really, really...you look fantabuloso, chickie!
Okay, thanks for all the birthday wishes...a happy Easter to all , and to all a good night! (THIS chickie is about to fade into unconsciousness, I'm afraid.)

Default Thanks for the welcome!

I appreciate the warm welcome!

Freda - T-Tapp is a great exercise program. There is a 15 minute work out that was designed for people with chronic illness and it really is a wonderful little exercise routine. I did a 90 day challenge to do at least that 15 minute routine every day. I made a chart and put butterfly stickers on each day. I also decided to reward myself with the sword, because at the time the bellydance troupe I wanted to get into was dancing with swords on their heads so I got one of those. It's really a great prop, but I've only practiced balancing it, never got into the troupe (got sick again) Someday, maybe, I will learn how to do it.

If you google T-Tapp or Teresa Tapp, lots of info will come up. I introduced my mom and my sister to it and they still do it.

Since the chart and stickers and reward worked so well the last time, I am going to use that again to motivate myself for dance practice. I'm really thinking some deck furniture is a good reward.

Before the deck can be built we have to take the shed off the back of the house. I have a row house with the kitchen over the garage, so the deck will go off the kitchen and above the driveway. I have to let the neighbor know we are taking off the shed since we share a catwalk between our sheds.

I am still on plan, feeling good and still at 165.

I have to get up early tomorrow to get to a CPR class and then dance class and then the evening shift at the Phila VA medical center. Long day! and weekend, working Sunday too but then have 3 days off.

Have a good weekend and a Happy Easter, all!

Nona

Hi everyone..i spent a very quiet day. I had coffee and read the paper. then caught up on laundry. one of the side affects of wls surg is thinning hair..it usually starts around the 6th month. My hair has thinned considerably sigh,my sister told me about this(she had wls 2 yrs ago) so i was leary about perming my hair but went ahead and did it this aftnoon.i wanted it to fluff up as you could see its thinness on top..it looks great and didnt notice any more loss.my sister said it would grow back. its been raining all day and helping the snow melt..we still have snow banks in our yard but i did see a little green grass in the dog pen we are not planning anything speacial for easter,it feels weird to not have all the family here and our famous outdoor easter egg hunt. we plan on going to a buffet at the senior center and take our mil.congrats to all who are loosing and yay for us to trying so hard on our various food plans. Have a Happy Easter everyone rosey

I'm late getting here...started to post earlier but dh called me to watch a movie. It was a stupid movie...not worth my time..but so many seem to be like that.

We had a pretty quiet day...went to the gym...then just working around here. My dh has started his garden...just a tomato plant and some onions I think right now plus he planted a cherry tree to replace the one we had removed only in a different place. Last year he had divided his raised gardens...two on one side of the back yard and one on the other. This year he has put them all on the one side and now has his "orchard" on the other side. We now have a plum, an apple, and a cherry tree plus two blueberry plants. He's always wanted to do this so glad he is finally doing it and hope he lives long enough to see the little trees grow up.

Late in the afternoon we went to the Service of Darkness at our church. It is a very intense/powerful story of Christ's final days and ends with His death and in darkness and silence. Really makes you look forward to the celebration on Sunday! How are you all spending Sunday/Easter? We plan to eat out but are not sure where.

I was doing so well today on my eating plan until dinner but I didn't check the label on some mini-pita bread I bought and I ate two thinking they were so little I could. It is rare that I don't check a label but sure wish I had tonight! I also had (planned) peaches and added 1 1/2 oz cheese (unplanned!) so I went over big time on both calories and carbs. There were lots of veggies with the meat and fiber but not enough to make up for my error. I hate it when I do that! My bs was great today but probably not now.

Rosey - we never have family around for holidays here at home. unless we go to them we are alone. It seemed very strange at first and still a little but we are pretty well used to it by now. I will probably not know how to cook a big meal now if they ever decide to come home for a holiday.

Nona - you are really busy!!

Zoe - Is Tues your birthday? I hope you have a great time! Is biking helping you lose weight?

Jess - I thought the card was beautiful! I visited her site and looked at several of her cards. Thanks for sharing!

Karen 3 - my smoothies probably wouldn't tide me over for the whole evening but they are great for breakfast and mid-am snacks. I put protein powder and nuts in with various fruits and sometimes yogurt, or milk. I think the nuts help a lot.

Morning Golden Girls.

My internet was down last night :-(. My dentist appointment went well but I was feeling dizzy and groggy from the sedation. Glad that it is over.

My youngest son, dil and grandson arrived at 3am for a week-long visit and I am so excited. They stay at my mom's because she has the room but it will be a great week.

Karen, you look terrific!

Nona, I am going to look up the TTap.

Well, just a flyby. Have a great day!

Hola!
KarenFL, your picture is lovely! As PT/Zoe said, you'll be a star before you know it!

I got my strawberries planted in their "topsy turvy" container and planted the pansies in sorta pretty containers. I don't want to use anything too fancy, because I had two of my very large ceramic containers stolen right off the porch! I hope someone's Mom needed them and that they weren't just destroyed for fun. Now I just use sorta pretty and kinda ugly containers! I also put down 7 of the bags of bark. Now I'm showered, good smelling, and ready for anything!

Hope your weekend is a good one. Happy Easter!!

It's a beautiful day for working in the yard. We went to Lowes for some plants. We planted some flowers bordering the area where we planted the lilac bush the other day. There were a few plants left so I planted them in a hanging basket and three pots in front of the house. I have so many places I want flowers but have to do it a little at a time. We worked together and it was fun.

Since then haven't gotten much done except start some laundry. Need to reboot it and then get to some house work. Bed isn't even made as I stripped it to wash the sheets and that's as far as I got before going out.

Lynn - sorry you are still not feeling well..you've sure had it rough recently! I hope it's over soon for your sake as I know how miserable it can be!

Jess - I was thinking today it would be fun to plant strawberries. Do you have to spray them for pests? We try to keep our garden organic as much as possible although we don't start with organic plants. They are just too hard to find around here still and if you do find them they are very expensive. Too bad about people stealing from your yard! My dh is concerned about that ...I'd like to put out some ornamental things but he says someone might take them.
