Morning everyone. I was up early (for me) - about 5:45am. I'm looking after a 7mo. old ShihTzu & he was ready to go at daylight! Baxter was not impressed. He still isn't as the puppy keeps on trying to get him to play. Baxter is 8 1/2 but it is good for him to have a "kid" around. Beautiful today. It had better be-woke up to about 3" of snow on Monday. It's supposed to be spring, darn it! Rosey, you look beautiful; that is a great color on you too. Happy Birthday Zoe! :baloons: And to all that "lost", big CONGRATULATIONS! WI on Tues. for me wasn't so great - up 1 lb (My own darn fault). So I'm being more diligent. I'm off for a walk with the dogs, & might actually get at cleaning my area rugs & maybe not. Have a fun day everyone.

Hello everyone! Went to the gym as usual this morning. Feel better this week...not so tired so enjoying it more now. Did the usual stretch class for 30 min then bike for 15 min and treadmill 15 min, then a few minutes on some of the weight machines. Total of 1 hr and 15 min. I used to stay there longer but I prefer it like this now as I then have more time for other things.

I'm still really into smoothies...had a peach smoothie (frozen peaches) for breakfast and a yogurt smoothie with strawberries for lunch. My am snack was a 1/2 cup cottage cheese (1/2 was the dry kind so less calories) and some walnuts and 1/2 apple. My bs is really doing well...I think it is more likely due to the increase in medication but eating like this can't hurt as mostly I only get 1-2 carbs for meals/snacks. Still struggling a bit at night but getting better.

While resting I did our budgeting and completed a few surveys online etc. Then dusted the bedroom bedside tables and dresser....my list says to declutter but we rarely have any clutter on them anymore. I do lay clothes on a chair to air and have to pick them up each day but that's about it. I remember when I was young, I would have stuff piled everywhere...can't think why for the life of me now..LOL I get most of my daily housekeeping tasks done before going to gym but sometimes don't get the kitchen floor swiffered...in fact I still haven't done that today but will do it next so I can then feel free to go out and get a haircut.

Have a good day...

Hi Everyone,

First - Happy Birthday, Zoe! Hope it was a good one.

Then, Rosey & Mary - GREAT photos.

Then, I am having technology overload! My bank (was Wachovia) switched to Wells Fargo & took me five hours on phone with tech support to switch over my Quicken Bill Pay system. Since Monday, I have been doing an online workshop to learn how to use a new teaching software system - Blackboard. I am finding it VERY diffcult.

Sorry I have been MIA - the workshop ends on Friday - hopefully, I will be back next week.

Hello everyone,

Jumping in here, posted a bio yesterday. I'd like to become an active member of this group.

Rosie that blouse is very sweet and pretty.

I had a nice surprise today. My oldest son came over with a friend of his who is a carpenter. The shed off my kitchen is separating and in danger of falling off. (my kitchen is above the garage) Oldest son Sean had put a house jack under it and wanted his friend's opinion. Now I have wanted to take the shed off and build a deck off my kitchen since I bought the house in '88 but did not think I could afford it. Well my son's friend quoted me an obcenely low amount to do just the part that my son cannot. In other words, design and help with my son doing most the work. It literally almost took my breath away. The idea that I could have my deck this summer!!!!

First thing we have to do is get the shed off.

I have been thinking about that exercize motivation thread and realized that right before the last thyroid fiasco, I had actually done t-tapp for 90 days in a row. I rewarded myself with a sword to balance on my head.

So now I am trying to figure out what would be a good reward for another 90 days of exercize, this time dance practice. Hmmmmm perhaps a nice table and chairs for my deck?

I've been good about my low carb plan today.

Cheers!

Nona

Good Morning Golden girls,

Worked yesterday, and usually I come home stressed and want to eat! But lately I have been really working on that. I realize it is a real problem and doesn't do one dang thing for the stress. So i'm trying to come up with other things to do. Paint my nails (clear polish, I really have no nails) or do a pedicure or something time consuming that uses my hands and takes my mind off food for awhile. Once i am more calm it's easier to just read or watch TV.

Rosie, You look beautiful. The next time you go shopping you'll have to try on some clothes and see what size you actually wear. I always bought one thing just a little too small and tried it on occasionally to see how I was doing weight wise and give me incentive to go on. Don't buy too much though. You are going to be changing sizes many times. And you are going to love shopping!!! Some things you can alter and some things you can't, so go slow.

Rie, nothing like catching a picture of ourself, or seeing a glance in a window when we're out and about, and thinking "that can't be me". And actually looking behind you to see who it is. That really gives you incentive to exercise.

Sherry, got to get up with those doggies. They won't let you over sleep. Mine gets us up at a certain time. And just one of us won't do. He will sneak in to the bed room door and bark and whine untill he gets the sleepyhead up too.

Lynn, Hi, good to see you back.

Bobbi, You are going to be really dressed up for Easter. compared to my good jeans and better sweatshirt. Is that for Church? I have to work all weekend.

Nona, Hi, come see us often, join the family! Good luck with getting that new deck. So nice to get a surprise like that. What is this about T-Tap dancing with a sword on your head? Sounds so much more interesting than walk on a treadmill. I always gave myself a little "incentive" for every so much weight I lost. Worked for me too.

Everyone, have a good day,

Freda

Morning Golden Girls!

Nona - Welcome! I am also interested in the T tap thing?

I have a partial work day today and then I am treating myself to a total hairdo day. I am getting my highlights redone. My stylist is an old friend who has been doing my hair for more than 15 years. He heard about my weightloss from others but hasn't seen me in about 3 months. He always spends the time pampering me so I am really looking forward to this afternoon.

Have a great day ladies!

They had an elevator that was the smallest id ever been in it really creeped me out and it didnt work rite and for a few seconds we were stuck between floors yikes! i was glad to get home.hoping you all have an awsome day rosey Ps yes i took a chocolate and ate it when i got home and i lost another 1# woot woot!!

Just back home from my day. Work was hard this morning and I plated up a very healthy lunch of a hard boiled egg, a little fresh fruit salad, and some green salad. I barely had any appetite and didn't finish it. Now, more than an hour before supper I am hungry. A good reminder, food is FUEL. I need to fuel my body.

I got my hair highlighted today by my friend Alan. Red and blonde highlights with dark mahogany underneath on the bottom. It looks terrific. He was so surprised to see me and just raved about how I look. I forgot to take an old shirt to the salon so he gave me one of the robes for clients. I said it was too small. He said "not any more!" and it was actually roomy. :-)

It was nice to be pampered!

Riemontana....we have friends in White Fish. Actually thought that we'd retire out there, but bones got old and love'n the tropical heat now.

Quiet week down here. DH made an appt to have the laser treatment on both his shoulders and his feet. First treatment is Monday. Say a prayer it helps.

It is really really hot and humid. 7pm and still 88. Dash spent the afternoon sitting on the 2nd step of the pool. No he's not spoiled...much!

Finally found time to get on here and post! My day is not complete without checking in with the GGs! First thing this am when we were barely awake the security alarm people called to say they'd gotten a "trouble" call from our alarm. Not sure what it was about...we think the alarm just miss-functioned ...it has done it before....as there was no problem. But it sure woke us up! I worked around the house until my doctor's appt. My A1C was up...highest I've ever been at 7.1, but the doctor says it's at least partly due to the UTI I had. I told him I hadn't increased the med at first as I kinda misunderstood how he wanted me to do it and really only started taking it right the last couple weeks or maybe even less. And I was able to show him my bs log with six days of testing...during the day I am doing much better but still high in ams and I can usually understand why as I tend to overeat in the evenings. Maybe partly the dawn syndrome but not totally. So he wants me to continue to do what I'm doing and try to eat less carb in the evenings, which I want to do too. Otherwise everything the same until next appt at least.

After my doctor's appt I did some shopping...had to get some cards for a couple people and cashed some money for gift for my son. He is coming next week and we have never had Christmas yet together! He is moving so figure he will need some extra $$ more than anything. I already have his GF's gift.

We had vegetable soup tonight...the name is misleading though as it had 1/2 lb. ground beef in it. It was good but I was surprised that my dh liked it too as I thought he might think it was too spicy. For dessert I had sliced fresh strawberries with a little lite reddi-whip on top. Yummy!

Last night we went to a special communion service at our church. It was very nice and afterwards they served cookies. I had two...they were small but really really good! Since I rarely have cookies here at home I am not about to forbid myself any when I'm out now and then. And my bs while still high this am was actually lower than it has been the last few days. My goal is too eat healthy at least 80-90% of the time but I'm not going to waste my life worrying about every bite I put into my mouth. I just want to learn control and I think I am getting closer to that.

Rie - I agree pampering is very nice! I got a manicure today and enjoyed that. She applied some light pink (I always keep my nails short with light polish) and the polish has sparkles in it. So I'm feeling gurly!

Rosey - glad you enjoyed the chocolate AND the weightloss!! Every pound gone is a cause for celebration!

Freda - that's me too...I need to come up with something to do in the evenings besides eating. Watching TV leads to eating.

Which makes me think...those of you who watch Survivor...what did you think of last nights show? I am not sure about Philip but I suspect he showed a bit of his true feelings at the Tribal Counsel and by the look on his face I thing for a bit there he was afraid he may have gone too far, but I think Rob lets him stay to just create contention and he sure does that. Entertaining to be sure. Rob is a master player (ok, I'll admit it even though I loved Russell...Rob is smoother socially and that can really help) and Phil is crazy (or acts that way) so it is very entertaining.

Nona - sounds like a big project...glad you found someone who will do it for a decent price.

Well, my dh tried taking another pic of me and it still turned out kinda blurry so guess I'll keep the current one for a while. Not sure if it's him or the new camera.

Have a good evening, everyone.
Mary

Good morning! We're still here in Selinsgrove, PA. A little chilly here at 38 degrees. I think we will stay through the weekend and probably head home the first of the week. Happy Good Friday to everyone and have a Happy Easter! I will try to catch up with everyone when I get back home! Miss you all.

Happy Good Friday everyone!
Nona...welcome...I'll take the time to read your bio after I finish here.
DH is busy cleaning the house for Sunday's guests. Our church used to have early Easter service and a quick brunch afterwards. I'm bummed they don't do that anymore. We have lots of last minute things to do and our church service always runs over. Long winded pastor, I might sit in the back and get up and leave early.
I picked up goodies to fill 3 Easter baskets for the grandkids, yeah I know. Oldest is 18, youngest 12 but I still make Easter baskets for them with a little cash. I didn't buy all candy, I put dried fruit/nut mixture in with the Easter candy so it won't be all junk food. We're having a pretty simple menu since DD won't eat pig, she doesn't want her boys to eat it either. We love bone-in ham.
DH is baking 3 whole chickens and stuffing. I'm going to roast carrots/brussel sprouts with onion/garlic/olive oil for a simple vegetable. DD is bringing fresh strawberry pie, another vegetable dish and some kind of salad. Yesterday I was experimenting with frozen bread dough. I divided the dough up into 16 1 oz. balls, rolled them in butter. Then dipped them in parmesan cheese/garlic/parsley/salt, baked in 9 x 13 cake pan after doubling in size. Yum-0! So I'm going to make them again only with frozen roll dough. This is something I can't make on a regular basis, too tempting. We're going to use the balance of the rolls I made yesterday for supper...using them as buns for venison sliders tonight. Monday I'm probably going to see a weight gain so you can expect me to boo-hoo on everyone's shoulders.
So......what's everyone else making? You all going to be good?
My microwave beeper just went off, need to get the venison sliders made.

Morning Golden Girls!

Just a quick post as I start my day. I have a major dentist appt this morning. I am actually so phobic that they give me valium which I will be taking soon - but I better get my shower in first. :-)

Karen, Whitefish is really, really beautiful. But, you are right it is cold all the time there. It is also very expensive to live there.

Mary I agree about having the occasional treat. I am really trying to have "my plan" as a long-term lifestyle, not a diet. As a lifestyle, I have to be able to have treats and the occasional sweet in moderation. I am learning that my blood sugar stays stable as long as I don't go crazy and overeat.

Well ladies, have a great and productive Da!
