I've heard that too, kelijpa, about your body feeling thirsty after it actually needs the water. I am not very good at getting all of mine in every day, mainly because I don't physically know exactly how much I should be drinking. How much do you drink on a daily basis?
I have read that you should be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water a day. For instance, of you weight 200 pounds, your body needs 100 ounces of water per day. Sounds like a lot but I drink about 150 a day and its not that hard. I find that I crave the water when I am not drinking it.
kelijpa - wow, I'd expect fish sticks to be higher than that too. Pleasant surprise Thanks for the info on YBB, maybe I can find it to borrow or rent before I invest in another DVD
shrinkinglizzy - I've said it elsewhere but WTG on being back on track. I'm happy for you And you know? Knowing your weight today won't do anything for you. Even if you see something you're not fond of today, what are you going to do about it between now and your official WI? Those daily weighs were getting so ridiculous for me. I'm sure you'll be fine, making my scale go away was one of the best things I did for my desire to lose weight.
freedom - yay for loose jeans!! That's a fantastic NSV. Won't be long til you can't wear that pair anymore... And hm, I've never heard that about drinking with/after your meal, I never thought about it. I guess I'm okay as I never drink with a meal unless I'm at a restaurant where they're served together; usually I just chug a glass of water after dinner but not during.
I went for my 2nd jog last night, and it felt great. I always listened to people talk about how they get addicted to exercise when they're in the groove and I never believed them.. looks like I'm turning into one of them.
Any plans for the weekend, anyone?
I'm hoping to do some more outdoor activity, but the weather's going to be a little chilly. Otherwise the weekend is shaping up to be reading, reading, and more reading... I have 2 presentations next week and I need to start studying for my oral exam in April. No more fun weekends for me!

Goodness gracious, I missed y'all! Last week my computer had viruses -- fixed that -- then this week my new anti-virus program kept blocking this site! I had to turn it off (a thing I'm now scared to do) just for a wee bit on Weds. to slip in my WI post! Turns out that it was the parental controls in the software that were blocking this site o_O ... pardon my language: but WTH? Anyway, the kid has his own computer, this one is password-protected, so the parental controls are now gone! So y'all can talk all the smut you like now, LOL!
Now, I must scamper off for a bit to catch up on all the threads!
Today was the most beautiful day! I didn't have class until four, so I walked into town (it's about 15 mins) and spent two hours wandering from store to store doing some errands and general poking about. I'm about to do my stepper now. Have to get those 35,000 steps in this month to reach my goal!
I'm having a fondue party with one of my friends on Sunday. It is a cheese fondue, and she brought it back for me from Switzerland when she was there for Christmas. It has no nutritional information on it, but I found a generic list of WW point foods and it says that it's about 8 points per half cup so I'm a little worried as I do love cheese fondue. I am going to cut up a lot of veggies and only a little bit of bread, though, so at least if I am careful, I won't use too many flex points. She's just been home to Germany and brought back some sausages that she's bringing as well. Oh dear. Good thing I'll have flex points left!
Your jogging sounds great, suite! I walk to school four days a week (and back, 30 mins each way) and walking with my ipod on is great, I love it, but I've not had much desire to jog before. There are so many people that do it on a regular basis here though. Perhaps I will give it a shot sometime. I find that 'groove' thing is definitely true, though. I find that if I do pilates/stepper in the afternoon, before dinner, the positive feelings I get from exercise stick around while I'm eating, so I'm less likely to make poor choices. I think I'm going to have to start doing that more often, when my class schedule allows, anyway!
Suite, I just asked about your new, "no scale" lifestyle in the 20 somethings, so you can ignore that...looks like you answered it. Feeling fine not weighing, but still anticipating Monday morning...
Everyone else, I'm thinking about you but I'm tired!
Just stopping by to say hello to everyone! I had checked in right when i started weight watchers (and now im on week 4) Everything has been great! Already 15 pounds down! IM SO EXCITED!!!! Anyway! Hope you all have a great week=)
I've been doing really great tracking and making sure I'm drinking LOTS of water...
I've been so busy keeping up with that stuff that I forget to write on here; My apologies ladies.
I did something REALLY drastic yesterday...
I got 10 inches of hair cut off!!!
That should at least give me 8 ounces off!!!
That's fantastic about your hair. Were you able to donate it? I did that a few weeks ago and it was the coolest thing. Now I am letting my hair grow back out to do it again. Luckily my hair grows super fast and I should be able to donate another 10 inches by the end of summer. Is your picture of your new haircut?
Hi everyone! I keep meaning to stop by and check in with my sister Flexers, but things are so hectic around here. With all the new activity I'm trying to get in, I've hardly spent any time on the internet!
I swear, not to sound too much like a commercial, but I LOVE the Flex plan. Seriously. I have never been able to stick to those diets that tell you what to eat, and keeping track of calories and fat and blah blah blah was just too much. Now I just look, see points, and keep on keeping on! I was stuck in a rut for a while, but I started varying my points every few days, and FINALLY broke through -- 16 pounds so far!
And... not to sound like a commercial again... LOL... I saw you guys talking about Yoga Booty Ballet. I haven't tried it (I'm an old fashioned Hatha girl), but I HAVE gotten completely addicted to another Beachbody product -- Turbo Jam! I swear I am the original human sloth, but I LOVE doing the basic workout! That's another thing that I think is really helping.
Also, I'm getting ready to donate my hair for the second time. Locks of love is an amazing program that really makes a huge difference in people's lives!
Woohoo! I've been over my flex points during the week too, shrinkinglizzy. I think a lot of us probably have but it's so great you had a loss of 2 lbs even with eating the extra points! Good on you!
hafowler, my mom bought Hip Hop Abs which looks like it might be about the same thing. The guy in it makes me laugh, but he does seem to be pretty good at motivating. I haven't tried it, and I don't think she has either!! Might have to give it a shot when I'm next home in March.
My mom's in great shape for her age, I don't know why she keeps thinking she needs to lose weight. She is a size 7/8 and at 51 years old, has way more upper body strength than I do. She used to be an aerobics instructor in her younger days - I think she just struggles with not being as active as she used to be. I am trying to explain WW to her so she emailed me what she ate for breakfast and lunch and a snack today and I totaled it up for her - it was 30 points! I did the test for her last night in my WW book and her daily amount is 19! I think she was a little surprised at that, but until you get into the frame of mind that we're all in now, you don't realize the points value of the peanut butter on your toast or the extra sugar in your coffee or the bagel you had for lunch. By three thirty, my mom had eaten ten more points than I had and I had already had dinner! Haha. Hopefully she'll let me help her out and make some suggestions. She works at a desk job - does anyone have any suggestions for tasty sack lunches she could take with her? She does have access to a microwave. She's not much for raw veggies unless they're in a salad. I don't take my lunch with me as I'm home at lunch time four days a week, so the only thing I could think of are wraps/pitas with some protein and lettuce and mustard.

Stews and chilis made with lean meat are good. You can put as many veggies as you like in the stew. Some people I work with bring in frozen dinners and heat in the micro. I bring in leftover whatever, as long as I weigh or measure. I try to stay away from too much processed stuff, so I don't do those frozen dinners, but they are definitely convenient.
I have a bunch of the round ziploc containers with the screw on lid. They hold two cups, I take my cereal in in one and buy milk at the caf. when I get to work. It serves as a good bowl, too. It's good to have a container that you know by looking how much is in there. Like I know half of one of those is a cup of whatever.
Lots of times, I bring in a sandwich, whole grain bread of some sort, 1 piece of cheese and some turkey and/or ham with mustard or miracle whip.
hafowler - You don't sound too much like a commercial I get that way too about Flex, it's just pretty much awesome. Way to go on your success, keep going! And same with TurboJam -- I seriously gush about it when someone asks for a recommendation or opinions on it. It feels so freakin' good, it's honestly the best workout I've encountered! And finally good for you donating your hair -- the one time I had enough hair to donate the woman cut it off and then told me, 'too bad you didn't donate it, you had enough to donate'... It didn't even occur to me... I was a little p.o.'ed :/ Oh well!
sonja - (I keep calling you that from when you had your old handle, I can break the habit if you want!) WTG on your loss, of course! Fantastic! Keep us posted!
freedom - wow, 30 points between breakfast and lunch? that's a lot! As for lunches to bring to work, I usually just bring leftovers from dinner the night before... Sometimes I will cut the portion and add a salad or something to get more veg in. I don't really care for raw veggies either. Or on the weekend I will make a big pot of soup, divvy it up and freeze it for lunches... pair with fruit and a salad or a small wrap/sandwich. Those are my staple options.
So today I'm wearing pants that I've never worn before.... I bought them in the fall without trying them on and when I got them home I realized there was no way I was going to fit in them. I remember the thighs being skin tight and I couldn't get the top buttoned. The thighs now have a comfortable amount of room and the waist fits perfectly I'm so excited about that! It's actually turning out to be useful that I had two or three pairs of pants that were just a bit too small, as now that my other pants are getting too big I'm able to shift into slightly smaller clothes without buying anything. Not that I've lost a size yet but some things are just cut different. I'm excited about tonight (being V-day)... this may be TMI but I'm excited about wearing some lingere I bought back in the summer but didn't feel sexy enough to actually wear it, so DH has never seen it. Now I definitely feel more confident and can't wait to pull it out!
So Saturday I'm supposed to be doing a "pizza and beer" night with a friend... I'm trying to figure out how to best handle it. We're going to do frozen pizza so at least that's slightly more nutritionally viable than fast food pizza, and I figure I'll get some light beer... The challenge will be to resist the impulse to overeat that usually comes with drinking. At least it'll be after this week's weigh in
Happy Thursday everyone, hope you all have a good end-of-week!
I have found Beck's beer and its only 3 points for 2 bottles. Make sure you get the premier light. It is very good too.
Also for the pizza, if you are going to be at a house to cook frozen pizza, you should do individual pita pizzas or flat out pizzas. We make these all the time and that way everyone gets what they want on theirs and you can load it down with veggies.
My big struggle is happy hour on Fridays--I have gotten in the habit of 2 beers and that is it. But I can tell you, my bar tab is never over $5 so that is a plus also
