Default Butter Spray! Am I deluding myself?

Ok I bought parkay butter spray 0 cals.

How ever I find about 5 sprays for 1/2 english muffin is about right. Before i was trying to use 1 tsp butter for an english muffin.

Then i make popcorn and liberally use the spray.
I count 0 points but really shouldnt it count as something?

I knew I'd found the answer somewhere. It was on someone's blog, who wrote to the company.

"Thank you for contacting us. The Parkay Spray was developed to give you the buttery taste of real butter without the fat calories. There are .8 calories in 1 spray and 4.0 calories in 5 sprays. Fat content is .085grams in 1 spray, .4grams in 5 sprays. We appreciate your interest in Parkay.

ConAgra Foods Consumer Affairs "

I don't know anything about the points system, however, if you're using 20 sprays on your popcorn it would be 16 calories and 1.6g of fat.

I bought Olivio "butter" spray, thinking olive oil, must be a bit healthier. You have to be very careful. I try to use occasionally, that 100 calorie popcorn is just too dry sometimes, you might want to try a few sprays, eat some and then go back and a few sprays, you know what I mean, if you spray 20 times on the first go round, the bottom of the bowl will be dry and you'll want more.

Like any other zero point foods, if you eat more than one serving, you are probably adding up points, you need to do the math and figure out what you're really eating.

good luck

5 sprays is definitely lower-cal than 1 tsp of butter (I assume you mean real butter?). That link that Meg gave you says that 25 sprays = 20 cals and 2 g of fat, which is 1 point. I think if you use 10 sprays you can confidently count it as 0 points, but if at any point in the day you start to go over that I'd count it as 1 point.

JudyBlueEyes, I thought something had to have at least 50 calories to be 1 point. Am I wrong?

Philly,

I think you're thinking of the general guideline that 1 pt = 50 cals. That's generally an estimation; it depends also on fat and fiber content. If you stick 20 cals, 2 g of fat, and 0 g of fiber into your slider or the online WW calculator, you'll come up with 1 point.

I made light pancakes for bfast today for the family...and used the ICINB tub. This so called butter left a film on my griddle and around the edges of the pancakes...EWWW!

Calories, points or what have you...I will not be using it again.
