Teacherlady - sounds like you have a great plan for your working lunch and hope stabilization goes well for you.

I was at my parents and my mom made pork chops yesterday, and it was leftover again tonight. Also, when I am at someone else's house, I have to rely on eyeballing how much I need and honestly, I tend to eat more. I'm working on continuing to drink more water. I'll let you all know how it goes tomorrow!

When I went over to my brothers house for Easter, I took my scale with me. I will probably go over there a lot this summer because they have a pool.. so I'm going to buy one and keep it over there. It may seem like an inconvenience, but to me, gaining weight back is much more of an inconvenience.

I go back this afternoon for w/i again and obviously not looking forward to it. By my scales nothing has changed. (except my spirit)

Husband comes in tomorrow from Afghanistan and we're going on a cruise Saturday...I am determined even with cruise food to stay OP as much as I can...

Thanks for letting me whine...

update:

weighed in yesterday and had lost the 2 lbs I gained last week. Whew! :yay:
Back where I was but better than gaining! Guess its emotionally stressful when you have tried so hard ...well you guys get it.
anyway...wanted to share.

I'm gonna get there dangit...then I'm gonna go to that store where the snotty sales clerk said, "We dont carry YOUR size here..so I'm sure you're looking for accessories". I'll try on every size 6 in her store...throw them all on the floor and tell her she was right...there's nothing there for me and walk out.

You guys know what I mean. When every morning, your body feels just a little bit different, as if things shifted during the night.
This may be weird, but last time I lost all the weight, I had these smaller blue bath towels, that I could wrap all the way around me, with no gap.
That is my goal. Right now, even my bigger, newer towels aren't meeting around the old hips.

No gap.. That's my goal.

How are all of you doing today?
:carrot::D

:bravo: Keep up the great work! And the no gap thing is good idea! I use those "bath" towels - the XXXXL ones .. and I had gaps but haven't really wrapped the towel around me so I will have to try that tonight after my shower.

Girl.. Me, too. I not only gained back the 40 I lost. I gained another 20-- not good.
So here we are.
I wanted to tell all the newer members, that this program is wonderful. It DOES work.

Well, me and you'll just have to support each other again, and this time.. we'll make it! For me, it's SO much better because I have a center here, instead of doing it by myself through email.

When did you go back OP?

janett41 05-11-2011 11:05 AM

The MRC Scale

Hey, I have a question. Since this is my first experience actually going to a center, it's my first experience with the MRC scale (was it called a Fujita scale?- or is that for tornadoes?) Hmm.
In any case, at my initial consult- the scale said I needed to weigh 192. I wanted to weigh 170.
Anyone have any info on the scale and if they disagreed with what it wanted your ideal weight to be?

It's not so much that the scale determines your goal weight, it's that they take the information from the scale, do some calculations, and then figure it out. They initially set my goal weight at 191, saying that they think that would be the easiest for me to maintain. However, that was just an "initial" goal, as I"m finding out now. I am ready to stabilize (because we're going to try to get pregnant this summer), and they actually want me to shoot for 175ish (172-177 is what they calculated as my healthiest range).

So, I"m guessing they put 192 as your initial goal, and they'll probably discuss changing that as you get closer to it. I think they do this for a couple reasons: 1)it's really hard to estimate how long it will take someone to lose weight when they have such large amounts to lose, and 2) they don't want new clients to see the ideal number they should lose and immediately become discouraged or lose hope. If they had told me "you need to lose 95 pounds!" I might have walked away. Telling me to lose 65 pounds made it seem so much more manageable.

I'd love to get to 175 someday, but I want to put this on "pause" and have some babies first. ;)

HAHA...well rejoined a few times. The 2nd time I just messed up again and went off plan. Back then it was really hard for me to get back OP after a cheat. Then I rejoined again but never even went to get my menu because my center insisted I take all the classes over again to get menu...so I rebeled and didn't go (thankfully I didnt waste to much money). Then this January I started to try to do the plan on my on and it was way too tough..so I restarted April 21st. The plan seems really more doable this time, so I am exidted. But, yes we definately will support each other. PM me anytime.:D

The scale and the center will adjust the goal weight as you lose.

Thanks!

Here it is - I also added it to the recipie thread.

MRC - Brownies (the entire recipie counts as part of your oil and 1 creamy)

1 - package hot cocoa (or double chocolate pudding)
1 - Scoop of the super chocolate powder
1/2 tsp olive oil
3 T water
1 packet artificial sweetener (optional and I do not use this).

Mix together in microwave safe bowl and microwave for 30-45 seconds. (I like to stop it just before it is finished cooking and still a little gooey in the middle). Eat warm!

struggling Nicole 05-11-2011 10:51 PM

13 1/2 days of school left! I can do this. Today we did ice cream to celebrate all the summer birthdays. I resisted until the husband and kids came in. I made one for them to share and decided that one brownie wouldn't hurt. Then one turned into 4. I ran an extra mile today. Hope it doesn't kill my weigh in. I am supposed to go to the stabilization party on Monday but would feel awful if I wasn't even back to my weight before our hospital stay. I really need to get back on track!!!

pnvomaha 05-12-2011 01:03 AM

Finally, I am pain free, just slight discomfort. I have had root canals before, but nothing like this. I have to go back for further treatment 5/25. Thanks
for asking.

Ok, I'm going in today to do my stabilization paperwork. But I'm really anxious about stabilization. I didn't realize it was 6 weeks, or I would have insisted on starting it sooner. We're leaving for WA state and Alaska for our belated honeymoon in June. June 8-11, we'll be staying outside of Seattle, and June 11-17, we'll be at a B&B-type lodge outside of Juneau.

I'll ask this at the center today, but I'm really anxious about how the heck stabilization is going to work while I'm gone AND eating out a lot. I've already checked--there is no MRC anywhere near where we'll be in WA, and none in Alaska at all. :( I'm hoping my stabilization goes quickly and smoothly between now and the time we leave, so I can be closer to maintenance while we're gone--otherwise I'm anxious that the whole trip will be stressful for me because of having to deal with food options (or lack thereof)/choices.

Also, we have an end-of-the-schoolyear luncheon for my department (I'm in the central office of my district) coming up at an Italian restaurant. I just got the menu (buffet style): lasagna & pasta shells in sauce. They will have sauteed veggies, too. Unfortunately, this isn't just a social luncheon, it's a you're-expected-to-be-here-because-this-is-actually-a-meeting-and-we're-taking-attendance luncheon. I'm considering asking if I can request a separate meal off the menu of chicken and veggies and I'll just pay separately. I'm not sure if I can really do this though--we'll be in the banquet hall of this restaurant, which is actually across the street from the actual restaurant. I could just eat ahead of time or bring a bar, but then I'd also have to smell it the whole time I'm sitting there, OR everyone around me would make a big deal about asking why I'm not eating or why I'm eating a sad-looking bar.

My hubby and I leave Saturday for a week on a sailboat cruise to the Bahamas for our 30th anniversary :swim: . Not a typical cruise where there are numerous selections of food. I'll be dealing with general one main course option (chicken/fish/lasagna etc) salads, fruits, starches, desserts and a pelithora of off limits goodies...I plan to do alot of mindful selections from what i have in front of me. .:chef: .I am serious about staying as close to plan as possible. We'll be diving alot so there will be plenty of exercise :exercise: to rid some of the calories. Alchohol will be plentiful also but hopfully I won't be that tempted. :stars: I do plan to bring bars for just in case there isn't anything I can have. It will be a trial but I am not going to let it ruin my vacation with worries about foods. I may not be able to stay exactly OP but I do plan to make the smartest choices I have in front of me. :hun:

Have fun and enjoy your trip.

Susie

These vacations sound wonderful.

I'm taking one of my trips to NYC soon and there are plenty of health conscious restaurants there so I'll be okay.

I hope I can take the HNS concentrates on the plane. Otherwise I guess I'll pack them in my suitcase and hope they don't burst.

I was wondering about the HNS thing. I may be going to Florida in a few months and didn't know how getting HNS on the plane works. I was thinking they wouldn't let you have the concentrates but they would the powders?

When I flew to Florida and Texas this fall and winter for work, I brought a couple concentrate HNS with me on the plane (I didn't want to have to worry about throwing away an entire box or anything), along with a box of powder ones (which I don't like as much as concentrate). Then I packed a bunch of concentrate ones in a gallon ziploc bag in my checked luggage. Nothing exploded, all was well. I didn't have my concentrates confiscated when I went through security, but it's a little different at each airport, so I wouldn't count on that always being the case (esp. with the higher terror alert since they got bin Laden).

Razorbackbritt posted a pizza recipe in the recipes thread, I think--she used cauliflower (pureed, I think) for the crust, and it sounded wonderful. She posted pics, and it looked good, too.

Where is the recipe for the artichoke dip/casserole? Is that in the recipe thread, or the cookbook, or both? Sounds yummy!

Yumm...I will have to check out the pizza recipe. The artichoke recipes may be in the thread I am not sure, but I know there are 2 slightly different ones in the new cookbook.

I have traveled with HNS in suitcase with no problem. I have had so manyt hings taken from me in the past at check in, I just pack them. I have had them take a bar from me, so when I pack them or the HNS, I pack them in the box, then put the box into a large baggie and seal it and no problem. NYC has wonderful restaurants and you will not have any problem staying OP.

Patzi-glad your pain is gone.

Hope everyone going on trips has a great time and that no one has to give up any protein drinks, they cost way to much for that...:dizzy:

Lost 2 lbs...but had a planned cheat nite last night since I had made it past 20 lbs. Now I plan on being really strict the next 3 days to make up for it by Monday! :p

Hope everyone has fantastic weigh-ins!

WI this morning and lost another 3lbs!! :woohoo:

And in just 11 more days, they will be doing my measurements again! By then, I'm hoping to be signing the 40lb board or just a pound or so away from it.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I weighed in today and stayed the same, so that is good , where I am on maintenance.. I am doing maintenance from the Day 5-11 menu, as it works better adding foods vs. the 3 meal Metaslim plan..Center is ok with that.

This week, I had some baked oatmeal, a small piece with an HNS, as if you recall they told me, when eating carbs like that take an HNS or a creamy, so had with cocoa.

Added 1/4 cup carrots.

I also added this for breakfast.. I made this type of pancake which calls for egg whites, yogurt( Only one I am not allergic to is FF Greek yogurt), 2 tbsp. of that, and then 2 tbsp of oat bran, with stevia for sweetener, and some cinnamon and nutmeg.. It is a huge pancake and it was good. My friend adds blueberries to hers, but she is not on MRC. With this I had half an orange and an HNS

So, I am coming along slowly, adding a few items each week.

Wishing everyone a great weigh in and a wonderful weekend.

Patzi--
I just started stabilization this week, adding starch to my lunch 3x this week. I have a couple questions (and I'm not going to see my consultant on Tuesday), so maybe you can help:

I was told that the starch I add can be anything from what I currently have on my plan, or anything from the list that they gave me on Tuesday. Does that mean that I can now interchange my starches on my meal plan with the ones on the list--or are those new starches only to be used for my "add on" starch during stabilization. I ask because 1/2 bagel is included on that, and I would LOVE to eat a 1/2 bagel with my breakfast instead of toast. But I don't want to screw everything up by replacing my regular starches with "richer" ones, you know?

Also, what are the day 1-4 and 5-11 menus? I've only been on white, beige and green menus, so I never saw those. Could you post them, or email them to me at sun_angel79 at yahoo dot com? Thanks! I'm just really worried I'm going to have the same struggles as you with stabilization, and I want to be able to adjust as you have, if need be. :)

Thank you for your updates, btw. You have been a big help and inspiration!

It sounds like everyone is doing so well . . . congrats. WI today down 0.5 lbs - sick kids caused me to be a bit sleep deprived and that always messes with my numbers. I should be able to sleep in tomorrow to help even this out. Still thrilled as that makes 2.5 down this week. I am now 1.5 lbs from the 30 pound board and hope to hit it on Tuesday.

Have a great weekend!

Speaking of traveling....

Well, I was asked to join my boss at our National Candy Show in Chicago May 23rd & 24th. I will be flying out of Tulsa, OK, which is a little under 2 hours away since plane tickets out of Bentonville were about $600+ more!

I think I can make pretty good choices until Tuesday afternoon. I get back into Tulsa at 6pm then have the 2 hour drive back home. I was thinking about packing a cooler Monday morning - full of ice and a shaker bottle with a meal replacement drink.. probably freeze it Sunday night. Do you think it'll stay cold for 36 hours? I know I'm not going to want to stop for dinner but will need to eat something and this is the only thing I can think of, unless you guys have other suggestions!? :?:

Dolly 05-13-2011 06:36 PM

candi at a Candy Show?!! That's perfect!

I'd freeze a couple maybe two or three days ahead of time so maybe they will stay cooler longer.

Dolly 05-13-2011 06:42 PM

Mariah--like you, my morning weight is affected by how much sleep I've had. I've been known to weigh myself at five a.m. and then again at eight a.m. and make the lesser weight the official one.

Way to go everyone on losing and maintaining!

teacherlady--I'm going to need both you and Patzi to hold my hand when I get to stabilization.

I replaced my low carb starch with the higher one. I tried not to do too many "rich" ones in one day, though. The calorie difference between 1/2 bagel and a slice of low cal bread is significant. You could have a 200 calorie swing just in breads. So, I had my bagel, but then the rest of the day chose lower cal/carb options until I had a better idea of how my body would react to the carbs.
