measurements

Also had some doubt about the measurements that were done on me...I've been measuring every month at Curves since last October and last month showed a 4 inch loss....so four weeks ago had my first measurements done at MRC and yesterday they measured and said I lost 11 inches...no way possible...When MRC first measured me I had on baggy scrubs from work and she didn't even snug it close to my body...so I have to disagree with the measurements....but all in all it was a 4 inch loss for real! I account almost the 4 inches were lost in the midsection-to my Corti Trim!

Is Stabilization and Maintenance the same thing?

Stabilization is done during a period of 6 weeks before you actually start maintenance. It is where you gradually add select foods back to your diet every week to see how your body will react to them and to see what may/may not cause you to gain. Once you are done with stabilization, you have more foods to choose from and a better idea of what they do to you--which is powerful information to have once you start maintenance.

Most people will do it for only 2-4 days at a time.

Hi all! I just found this site. I have been doing metabolic for 42 days now and still going strong.
I am excited to see so many people from the Omaha area!!! Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Each person is different but Meta Quick which I have been on quite a few times did work for me.. After Meta Quick, I was told to go on my first menu for a day( I am on Meta Slim) and then go back to menu I was on before
I started the Meta Quick. It took me out of a stall. Great weigh loss of 44 pounds.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised to see so many Omaha people here, too. I've noticed that there seems to be a concentration of people from the South, and then from the Omaha area. Maybe these are just the places where people definitely tend to eat too much (of the wrong foods). Don't forget, Omaha has the most restaurants per capita than any other city in the U.S. :^:

Well, I went for a WI last night, which I knew better not to.. but oh well. I had a massage on Sunday, the PiYo class on Monday & walked 1.76miles in 35 minutes with my 1lb hand weights on Tuesday! Let's just say - sore & cramped up were understatements. And it showed it on the scale - up 1lb. I'm going in Saturday for another WI which is before my Chicago trip. Hoping when I WI next Wednesday that I will have a loss and not a gain!

The only meal I'm really worried about in Chicago is lunch on Monday. I'm going to pack a couple bars for my back up plan. I get off the plane at 11:15am and have to be in a meeting at 1pm. I'll probably end up eating the bar in the cab to the meeting but I'm going to try to find something because I won't have a chance to eat again until we all go out to dinner at 7pm (which I've already downloaded the menu and know exactly what I'm having). And we are staying on the Magnificent Mile.. so I'm going to do a lot of walking (hopefully)!

Oh, and when I return Tuesday evening in Tulsa at 6pm and have a 2 hour drive home - I don't need to freeze the shake.. I'm going to make the meal replacement cookies and eat those.

Yep! I'm ready! :D

Razorbackbritt 05-19-2011 01:12 PM

Headed to weigh in at my new center! I'm so nervous!

I have been going first thing in the morning...so I'm not sure how a noon weigh in will be different in terms of showing results.

Not to mention that I was bad for the last couple of weeks... I'll update!

Razorbackbritt 05-19-2011 02:23 PM

Update in 3...2...1...

So they were nice at the new center. My old center hasn't sent them my chart (which I asked them to do 2 weeks ago!)...so they didn't have that.

My weight was officially 170. (Boo for that). It had been 169 2 weeks ago at my old center in the morning. The new consultant told me that I would have to get my body used to their scale, and used to weighing at lunch (when I previously went first thing in the morning before breakfast or anything).

She said that we might not notice a loss for the next week as we figure out my weighing at a different time and such.

Its hard not to be discouraged, even though I know there is reason for me not showing a loss. But, I just wonder when I will be able to celebrate a victory on the scale again.

And also, on my way back to work, I had a bit of a breakdown on the phone with my mom. I am so stressed out now.

See, we are spending 3-4 days a week living at my mother-in-laws (so I'm living out of a suitcase, don't have all my stuff, no alone time w/ hubby, not in my comfy bed), started working full time, and trying to get everything together to move next weekend...along with coordinating the construction of our new house. Its just too much. While my mom offered to come help me pack next TH and F, I am unsure if I can ask off work for two days to get things together. If not, I don't know how I will get it all done. So ready for my life to settle down. We still have 2-3 weeks of crazy...and I can not wait.

teacherlady79 05-19-2011 03:03 PM

Britt--I totally understand how you feel. I've had to devote so much of my time and energy to getting our house ready to sell, I just have had to struggle through my workouts and struggle to focus on my dieting. I just feel like I need a day to myself--one half to work like mad on the house, the other half to just decompress. On the plus side, you only showed a 1lb gain despite being "bad" lately and weighing in at a different time on a different scale. It will start to go down again very soon, I'm sure!

Well, I made it through my work luncheon at the Italian place. I did what my consultant suggested and ate my cheese in the parking lot (mmmm. I love cheese). I went in and only had salad, roasted garlic (yummmm), and some of their Italian-style green beans. I forgot to bring my fruit, but I figure I made up for it with plenty of veggies, since I was guesstimating amounts. Unfortunately, once I got back to work, I looked up the amount of fat in the cheese I ate, and that--along with the olive oil in the dressing I used--makes for a lot of fat today. I'll probably just stick with an MRC shake for dinner, to try to balance it all out (I love how livestrong.com does a pie chart of my fat, carb, and protein intake for the day). I'm thinking I'll also probably go for a walk with the dog after work, if it's not raining. ;)

Still, I'm mostly proud that I didn't eat any of the baked lasagna, shells primavera in cream sauce, or pieces of bread with bruschetta. A little more fat than I should have, but pretty darn good all in all!! :)

Sorry to hear you are so stressed but it least the stress is for a good reason! Take a deep breath and try to find a few minutes for yourself. Take a walk with your hubbie and try to relax a bit. It will all get done I promise!

As for the 1 lb, it is always discouraging to see a gain, but the consultant is right . . . a new scale and weighing in at a different time of day does make a huge difference. I bet next time you will see a loss.

Hi

Hi I am new! I joined MRC last Saturday and have been doing the conditioning, along with supplement pills. I start the beige menu on Saturday. Excited, and nervous!!!!

patzi 05-19-2011 06:30 PM

I am so excited. I will be able to attend the Stabilization/maintenance party next Wednesday. I have a friend of mine that will run my business till I get back. They are having a barbecue cooking class so we can learn how to cook healthy foods for Memorial Day weekend, so that will be fun, and of course they are serving food. I would imagine it is the food they cook up. This is the first time since September that I have been able to attend any function of MRC, mainly because I work during the day .

Will report in tomorrow after weigh in.

Hmm. I should call my center and find out if they're going to have food for our party, too. It's on Monday at 5:30pm--and if they aren't going to serve food, I'm going to need to bring something with me, because that's the time I usually eat and mealtimes are no longer negotiable for me. ;)

I'm glad you get to go to yours, though! I know you really wanted to!

I wish my time was at 5:30 that is acceptable.. It is so difficult to attend these functions when one works.. I am sure many will be missing due to this. But, I am going, so that is good... I figured I will use the food for my lunch schedule, as ours is 11:30 -1. I am looking forward to comparing notes with you.

patzi 05-20-2011 11:00 AM

I weighed in and stayed the same, good weigh in for maintenance.
I experimented last week having two slices of 35 calorie bread for lunch and had a nice sandwich, plus I added more fats, like almonds, mayo, had baked oatmeal, a small square once with HNS,had more starchy veggies, etc. So , I am happy with all this

This week I will experiment some more, and see how I make out. Not sure how, but will figure out my plan this weekend when I am home.

Hope everyone has a great weigh in and a nice Friday.

Re: meal replacement cookies, are they in the cookbook? I so seldom use that, I should get back into it. If they are not in there, would you be so kind to post the recipe, as this would work nicely for me, where I could not make a shake for lunch and a change for a bar when I am at a meeting.
Thanks

Candi-- Definitely post the meal replacement cookie recipe! I don't think I ever made that, though, because I knew I'd still have to eat a veggie with it (so, not a total meal replacement). But now that I'm actually enjoying salads, I am more likely to make it and eat it. ;)

I updated my avatar/profile pic. I wore one of my cute new dresses to work today (finally getting warm enough again to wear it) and had someone take a picture of me. :)

The dress I'm wearing to the wedding at the end of the month actually makes me look even skinnier. ;)

Think I found out why my weight was up...TOM came last night. With a vengeance. I am cramping like crazy at work today. At least there is a reason for it!

Rzrbackcandi 05-20-2011 11:45 AM

Meal Replacement Cookies

I'm not sure if these are in the cookbook... so here's the recipe (very simple).

:cookie:
1 pkg meal replacement shake (chocolate or vanilla)
1/4 cup of water or more as needed
Optional: cinnamon, valilla or any other sugar-free extracts

Blend & drop on cookie sheet sprayed with Pam
Bake at 350 for 13-15 minutes
Replaces any meal up to 3 times a week.

:chef: Here are my variations: I think I use close to 1/2 cup but add it in increments as I'm mixing - the recipe states "*Batter should resemble brownie batter, not cookie dough." I kept mine kind of thick - not real runny.
Extracts - I've made mine with a TINY dash of mint extract.. it doesn't take much with mint and a dash of imitation butter extract.

Baking - Don't be scared - these things PUFF up but kinda go back down and I cooked mine for about 10 minutes so the centers were still a little gooey, let them cool a bit and put them in the fridge. When you bite into them, it's like having a little fudgy treat in the middle.

My center told me if I eat/drink the powdered meal replacements that I wouldn't have to eat my veggie serving. With the premade's, you still have to eat the veggies ??? I will ask again tomorrow at WI because I didn't eat my veggies the last time I made these.

ENJOY! :T

patzi 05-20-2011 11:48 AM

Forgot to mention the following.
The center h as me on a 1200 calorie maintenance program .. They believe that is what I need to maintain the weight loss, but that could change.
That includes.

2 servings dairy
2 servings daily veggies high starch 3 x week 1/2 cup cooked or 1 cup raw
2 servings fruit daily
3 servings starch daily lots of nice selections
protein... 9-10 servings daily ( 1 0z) = 1 serving unless otherwise indicated. 1 Fats daily 1 serving( low fat whenever possible

Free.. is coffee, tea, broth, egg whites, mustard , ketchup, SF gelatin, pickles
spices,"I Can't Believe it's not Butter", Pam Spray.

Any questions, please feel free to ask..

Ok, the other recipe I've seen is different--I think it just uses a pudding supplement. Yeah, if you're using the meal replacement shake mix, it replaces the entire meal.

Cool!

Patzi, I'm only in week 2 of stabilization, and the choices to me are almost overwhelming already. How do you keep track of everything on maintenance? Do you use some kind of food sheet?

They're thinking I'll probably be able to go up to a 1600 calorie diet. I'll probably ask for 1500, just to give me some wiggle room for mistakes. Even if I don't have to write everything down in maintenance, I guarantee I will--either through livestrong.com or on my own food sheet. That will help me see my food patterns and identify problem areas if my weight starts to creep up.

Of course, if I get pregnant, it's kind of a moot point, but I'll probably still keep track so I don't overdue it and blow up.

My center's manager lost weight, had a baby, then got right back down to goal. So did another consultant. They both told me that I'm welcome to call or stop by with any questions if/when I get pregnant. Also, they have a breastfeeding menu for new mommies that I can get when I go back to maintenance. Again--this is all IF I manage to get pregnant. :) Still, it's nice to know my center is so supportive. My consultant told me that my job was to lose the weight, their job is to help me keep it off!

Dolly 05-20-2011 12:44 PM

teacherlady, you look so summery and slim in the new picture!

Patzi, I'm happy stabilization is continuing to go well for you after a bumpy start.

Britt, I'm having a horrible TOM as well right now. Not doing anything but my minimal chores. Also craving MORE food but not necessarily carbs.

Thank you so much. I started Condittioning on Sunday and as of Wed I was down 3 pounds, but I got on the scale today and had only lost 0.4 more..is this ok? My consultant doesnt tell me much, she just reads exactly off the paper..she doesnt say good, bad..nothing. She hasnt talked to me at all about exercise, just that I should do it. What is the right amount?? I am kind of lost but trying to do my best :)

They usually recommend walking about 3 times per week for exercise, to start. Is there more than one consultant at your center? You absolutely don't have to see the same person every time. In fact, my center is more of a "first come, first serve," where whatever consultant is free takes whoever is there.

And yes, losing that much during preconditioning is totally normal. Keep in mind that the first week or so the losses are from water weight--we all naturally retain water until we start drinking more--so your future weekly losses shouldn't be as drastic.

Oh my gosh you look AWESOME!!! How exciting. Have you picked out your outfit for the stabilization party yet? I just had ours this past Monday. It was a great experience. We wrote things that we want to let go of (like stress, overeating, etc) on balloons and let them go. We also had a sort of graduation ceremony. I got a cute graduation cap cut out with a tassle as long as the inches I have lost. But best of all was taking the after pictures!! What an awesome feeling, to know I have an AFTER!!!!! pic. Best of luck to you and Patzi. Hope you are inspired as much as I was.
