Hope everyone has a great month!!! :)

It's hard to believe we're already in May .. mid-June was my goal month .. guess I need to rethink that already!

Happy Monday everyone! I pray you all have wonderful weigh ins today!

Rzrbackcandi 05-02-2011 10:44 AM

Can't believe it's May and 45 degrees!! Brrrr! I actually had to turn my heater back on this weekend.

And with all the rain we've received the last couple of weeks - I BETTER see some May Flowers pretty darn quick! :)

Hope everyone has a great week!

Razorbackbritt 05-02-2011 12:22 PM

Here is to a great May! I have a super busy month....

Mother's Day weekend (hosting both our moms at our house for the weekend)
Graduation from Grad School
Additional Zumba training in Dallas (getting certified to teach Zumbatomic- Zumba for kids)
then moving the next weekend.

CRRRAZY busy month! Bring it on!

It's been a rainy, dreary April in Indiana.

It's cool and drippy outside now and I have errands to run. I'm really not in the mood.

Totally went of plan for the royal wedding. Had a celebration here that included chocolate biscuits, scones, tea, champagne, etc. No matter what my scale says tomorrow it was totally worth it.

I just have prom to worry about this weekend and teaching an ENCARE class to high schoolers.

Other than that going to focus on my health plan. I may even decide to cook some things besides chicken breasts and steamed vegetables.

I'm hoping for big losses for all of us.

JenB72 05-02-2011 02:04 PM

May is starting out great for me. Weighed in at lunch and down another 1.5 pounds! This is the weight I was at when I totally gave up last year. I'm nowhere near that place in my mind right now. 7.5 pounds to go until pre-pregnancy weight is gone! :woohoo:

janett41 05-02-2011 02:12 PM

Well, I'm back.

Hi everyone,

I come before you with my head hung in shame. A little over two years ago I'd lost 40 lbs, felt like a million dollars and was well on my way to my goal weight.
I LOVED MRC, but my downfall started when I went on vacation. The biggest issue I'd faced the whole time with MRC, was that there was not a center near me in my state, and I'd had to do my counseling by email and have my supplies mailed to me. So, when I got back from my vacation, I not only fell off the wagon, I tumbled off so hard, I'm sure you guys felt it wherever you live.

So.. here I am, those 40 are back plus around 20 more to keep them company.
I've tried several programs in the last couple of years, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, and I'd just bought the 17-day diet book. I don't have to tell you what kind of results I've had from them.
Then...Oh Joyous day! Yesterday I learned that we now have an MRC center here in Little Rock!! I am sooo excited and sooo ready!
I have an appt in around an hour to rejoin the program, and I wanted to come on here and admit my shame to you guys, and see if you'll have a black sheep, a prodigal daughter back in your midst? :o

I have missed the loving support of everyone on the site and I hope and pray ya'll are doing great!

Janett - I'm a prodigal too...and i've put on way more than 40lbs. Sigh. But, I'm taking control today. I've been OP since breakfast...even getting the water in. I've seen too many pictures of myself recently that have made me cringe and I wanna get back to a place where I like what I look like. Don't get me wrong...I love me, but I know I can do better...so I'm gonna....again. Try, try again, right? :)

I say - what happens in the past.. stays in the past. So happy they have a center down in Little Rock for you! Not sure I would be able to handle it without my center and only through emails.

Good luck with your appointment! We'll be here for you every step of the way!

Dolly 05-02-2011 02:38 PM

Happy Day, Jen!! It's all in the mind, isn't it?

janet, I remember you! I quit 13 pounds before goal two years ago and gained back the weight and then some. There are a lot of us who are on our second try. We can do this.

I'm so glad you're back!

AshleyRae 05-02-2011 02:40 PM

Yea May!
I was so excited to get some professional pics done Saturday, since I don't have any photos of me since I lost 33.5 pounds. I've seen a couple of the pics (will be checking out the rest this evening) and I don't see any difference :( But, I had a blast! I figure these last 10 pounds that I need to lose are going to be the ones that really make a difference. I mean, I've only gone down just over one pant size, but I'm thinking that I may drop a full pant size with just 10 pounds off from where I am now. Anyone else have this issue?
I've been going through my spring clothes (capris and stuff) and everything's too baggy! Woohoo! :woohoo: I'm hosting a clothing swap in just over a week, so hopefully I'll snag some new-to-me stuff and my friends can take my old things. So excited!

Is everyone getting a garden out for some delicious home-grown produce? My garden is tilled, but nothing's been planted because of the rain. But, I can't wait for some tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, eggplants, and green beans. Now, if I could just find some horseradish plants, I'd be all set :)

Happy May to each of you gorgeous women!

It really is amazing how much of this is mental. The trick is, learning how to deal with it. Wanting food and needing food are two totally different things.

momoffour-congrats on signing the 30 lb board!!! I finally made it there too. It just goes to show, if we stick with it, it will happen!

Rzrbackcandi-way to go on the 40 lb board--esp while traveling, that is awesome! 6 lbs-WOW. Thats your reward for passing on all that candy in your face!

Teacherlady-you look beautiful. That color looks really good on you!

Patzi-thanks for the recipes!

Then if you wanted more you could get 5 for $45. I took that opportunity to get 5 more. I am so excited. I offically started Wednesday and I have already lost 4 pounds on preconditioning!! I am going to officially start the beige menu tomorrow. I hope I can make it thru. I have to work tomorrow from 9 to 7. But thanks to Rzrbackcandi - I have a near tool to keep up with my food. :D

Great job on the weight loss! Love the shaker bottle...its magic lol! You can do it...just be prepared. I have to do 12 hour shifts on the weekend and I just have to make sure I prepare everything I need in advance.

Hopefully having a center in town, along with this forum, will help you get back to where you were and keep you there! :)

Welcome back! There's no need for shame, you made a poor decision (we all have done that), you realized you need help and support and you were courageous enought to admit this and get the help you need . . . that sounds courageous to me.

I'm Back.....again!

Hi everyone! Well I have been on MRC a few times in past few years and never really stuck with it. I tried to do the program at the beginning of the year own my own, but that was just too difficult without the accountability of the center. So here I am, I am back again and I rejoined a week and a half ago with my center and I m already down 7 lbs. Yeah! I am really determined to do this, this time - I am not getting any younger and do not want my weight to begin to affect my health. I think that mindset makes a difference.

Welcome back! I too am a black sheep. Wow, I feel like you just told MY story lol. I too had lost about 40 lbs, went on vacation and went completely off, and now have an extra 20 pounds to lose before I can start the "real" losing again:o
It will be much easier with a center in your town. Happy losing!

Great week! 5 lbs gone and I am out of the 240s. Yay! After losing nothing for about 5 days, the scales finally started dropping again. Unfortunately I worked 12 hour shifts over the weekend and we were so busy I didn't get to eat one of my meals Sat or Sun night. I feel certain the scales will punish me for that over the next couple of days...:( but I'm enjoying it for the moment...:carrot:

Hope everyone else had good weigh-ins today too!

pnvomaha 05-02-2011 07:58 PM

New month! I have 2 months left until my sister's wedding and the big family reunion. I'm 20 lbs away from my initial goal... let's go! :)

enniecat 05-02-2011 08:34 PM

I am finally starting to feel human again after being sick over the weekend. So today is my first official day OP. Here is my question to all of you "experts". :D I am on the yellow menu and I have to tell you, it sure feels like they have me eating alot of food. I mean 8 oz. of lettuce is a huge salad. For supper I had chicken and green beans. The menu says I am suppose to have 6 oz. of chicken and 4 oz. of green beans. That sure looked like a lot too. I was just making my lunch for tomorrow and 6 oz. of turkey is a lot too. And it was, I didn't eat it all. Is this normal? Am I required to eat all of this. If am going to gain weight if I eat this much.

I have always been the habitual snacker and stress eater. And trust me I have major stress in my life. I am an only child taking care of my 72 year old Dad on Hospice with Alzheimer's.

So I am totally sticking to the 3 meals a day with no snacks. Just during pre-conditioning I lost 6 pounds and I am pretty sure it would have been more had I not gotten sick. There is no way I can eat as much as they want.

And one last question. On the meat portions. Are those weights before or after they are cooked.

Okay not really sure about the official answer but I usually eat what I am allotted...i'm a big girl tho.... and since you are not snacking in between you may not make it until the next meal and be more tempted to cheat...just saying....

The protein portion weights are for after cooking.

I'm glad you are feeling better...Good luck!!!!:D

I thought the same thing about it being too much food but once you get in the grove of things, it balances out. And my center stresses that the old diet rule of always leave something on your plate.. isn't a diet rule while on MRC. You are eating that much for a purpose. Each protein, fruit, veggie has a "meaning". If you don't eat it then you aren't getting all the nutrients you're supposed to be getting. Plus, they don't want you to go more than 4-5 hours between each meal so if you're not eating your entire meal then you probably won't last until the next and your body will go into starvation mode.

I think that's it. Maybe people that have been doing this longer will have different advice.

In the beginning it really does seem like a lot, but your body does adjust. You are supposeed to eat all the food, however, I have been told that the protein and supplement are the most improtant components so you should definately try and eat all of those at each meal. I would also talk to the people at the center, there are many different plans - some of which spread the food out throughout the day. . . You will not gain weight eating like this - it may seem like a lot of food, but it is high quality, high protein, low calorie and low fat food. . . By leaving out the sugars, starches, and high-fat foods your calorie count is greaty reduced even though it seems like a lot of food.

Also, I found that eating slowly helps - you can spread your meal out over 1 hour if that would help.

Hope this helps,
Mariah

I don't think you will gain weight eating what's OP. You must follow it exactly though. I've been on that plan, and I've lost 42 lbs since mid January. My first plan had a snack in between lunch and dinner. And now, it doesn't, but when I'm OP I lose the weight! Best wishes!

I had a REAL bad day!

Some of this might be TMI..
I was having severe abdominal pain that started late Saturday night. I thought it was because I had eaten the Filet Mignon.. ya know, Karma or something. I got up about 15-20 times during the course of the night TRYING to go to the bathroom.. #2.. and couldn't! There was SO much pressure but nothing moving. Woke up yesterday and still in a lot of pain and nothing moving. My sister in law brought over some Exlax. I took that around noon yesterday.. and waited.. and waited. Finally around 6:30pm, I was able to push a little something out.

Then we move into today... and I'm aching! Oh, it hurts so bad. And I've never had this issue. I was always the one that had the issue of needing to stop going. I also had arterial thrombosis in my small intestine - so I know what bowel obstruction feels like but this was different. This was in the belly. I called the doctor and went in.. he pushes on my abdomen and I thought he was going to have to pull me off the ceiling! He's asking all these questions and then he says.. this may be Appendicitis!

WHAT?? SERIOUSLY?? I had to go into Xray, pee in a cup and they had to rush my blood work over to the hospital to be tested. In the meantime, they kept me there because the appendix will usually rupture within 36 hours and I was pushing that. I was freaking out! My appointment was at 2pm and finally after all that.. around 4pm, he comes back in and says it must be a severe case of constipation!!! Which is what I had originally thought.

I went for a WI, which I knew wasn't going to be great because of not being able to unload.. but I have a busy week and not sure if I will be able to go in and I had a lot of questions regarding a meal plan for the weekend when I will be sitting at my Craft fair booth from 9am-9pm Friday & Saturday and 1/2 that time on Sunday. Well, I gained my .5 back. But considering I feel like I'm carrying 20lbs around in my gut that .5 isn't bad. The consultant made a joke and said, "once you get things moving, I'm sure you'll lose 4lbs to get below 300!" I just laughed but that started to hurt.

Anyway - here I sit, not on the throne, after drinking Miralax waiting on a BIG "movement". And nothing... oh so full of it but nothing!

Oh - and I asked if eating a Filet was ok instead of eating Sirloin and the consultant said yes. Even my doctor said the Filet didn't cause this constipation issue but he would choose a Filet over Sirloin because it's a better cut of beef.

Don't worry, nothing is TMI around here. ;)

Once you get things moving again, I would suggest using either benefiber or the MRC fiber drinks every day just to keep things moving. Also, I know you don't like them, but raw veggies are a GREAT source of natural fiber ("roughage," my husband calls it) and ALWAYS help to keep things running smoothly. It might be worth it to eat a large salad once a week or so.

Candi- I have chronic constipation and have found MRC's Internal Cleanser to work wonders. It doesn't make me have to go like a laxative, but just regulates. Its amazing!

Also, drink lots of water. If you are constipated, nothing is going to move without water....especially on the Miralax. I took that for years and couldn't ever go unless I drank WAY too much water. That stuff runs on extra water.

PS. My husband wanted me to say "I rarely poop" instead of chronic constipation. He thought that was funnier. :-) silly husbands.

Thanks Rzrbackcandi for sharing your constipation issue. I've been feeling a bit this way, too and was wondering what has been happening. I go through these phases where I feel this way. I was doing great when I bought the MRC fiber drinks, but it can get expensive so I'm now trying some Fiber Gummies made from Vitafusion. So far all I've been getting is lots of stinky gas and still feeling heavy from not going as much as I think I should. Let me know the secret when you know!

We "chicks" gotta stick together

Thanks so much for all the support, guys. My appointment went so great yesterday. You can't imagine (or you probably can) the relief that knowing there is a center now to go to for support and help through this thing. I start this morning on pre-con, then go in Friday for Fun-day Friday to pick up my first batch of HNS-YAY can't wait for the kiwi-melon, my fave..

You are all such wonderful, supportive people and I know that together we can do this thang... :carrot:

I'm so sorry...:(
I bet the filet was not the problem, just the straw that broke the camel's back. Have you tried warm water with honey? I agree with the others, ongoing management of the problem is better than waiting for a crisis. Hope you feel better soon.

It is normal to feel like this is too much food at first. I literally gagged for the first couple of weeks. It also takes a long time to get used to eating that much food without the fat to help it go down. Fat is a lubricator, so eating meat and veggies without butter or oil is tougher...they just don't go down easily. You'll get used to it. In fact, you'll find you start preferring the cleaner taste of it. I stuck mostly to cooked vegetables for the first few months because 8oz of salad just grossed me out. Now, I love it!

Yes, the weight of the meat and veggies is AFTER cooking.

Welcome back!!! Congrats on losing 7 pounds and hope you have many more to come! :goodluck:
