They're thinking I'll probably be able to go up to a 1600 calorie diet. I'll probably ask for 1500, just to give me some wiggle room for mistakes. Even if I don't have to write everything down in maintenance, I guarantee I will--either through livestrong.com or on my own food sheet. That will help me see my food patterns and identify problem areas if my weight starts to creep up.

Of course, if I get pregnant, it's kind of a moot point, but I'll probably still keep track so I don't overdue it and blow up.

My center's manager lost weight, had a baby, then got right back down to goal. So did another consultant. They both told me that I'm welcome to call or stop by with any questions if/when I get pregnant. Also, they have a breastfeeding menu for new mommies that I can get when I go back to maintenance. Again--this is all IF I manage to get pregnant. :) Still, it's nice to know my center is so supportive. My consultant told me that my job was to lose the weight, their job is to help me keep it off!

I have a journal that I make and keep one on my desktop, and make copies for the week...After awhile, I know I am to have two dairy, so many starch, etc.. When I travel, I have a small journal type book I keep in my pocketbook.

In fact, my center is more of a "first come, first serve," where whatever consultant is free takes whoever is there.

And yes, losing that much during preconditioning is totally normal. Keep in mind that the first week or so the losses are from water weight--we all naturally retain water until we start drinking more--so your future weekly losses shouldn't be as drastic.

They have 2-3 consultants I think. I have been twice ad saw the same one. I live 70 miles from the center, so I am only going once a week. I was thinking I should be losing more than 3 lbs the first week :( but as long as it goes down I am happy. I start the beige menu tomorrow, Im not too sure about the protein, should I drink 3 plus the optionals or just 3?

MMMMMMMMM! Can't wait to have pickles!!!

Thanks for the compliments, all! :) I got the dress at Dress Barn. They had it in both plus and missy sizes, and they were out of the larger missy sizes at my store, so I got it in 14W and just altered it down a little. I also got a super cute royal blue sateen dress with the same shape (only it has a boatneck, rather than scoop) and belt (a la Kate Middleton) to wear to the wedding next week. :)

Debi, I'll be emailing you for that food sheet. :)

I've been missing pickles, too, until a friend of mine taught me how to make sugar-free pickles. :)

Use equal parts white vinegar and water (I used 1 cup of each). Add approx 2-4 packets of splenda (I actually started with one, and tasted as I went to make the "brine" taste the way I wanted).
Add sliced (I slice them, then halve the slices) ENGLISH cucumbers. If you use the everyday cucumbers usually sold in stores, it doesn't turn out right. The English cucumbers work much better.
Cover and let soak in the fridge for a min of 2 hours. Because of the vinegar, it will last in the fridge for at least a week (mine never lasted past a week, I ate them so fast).

:) Good Morning everyone! I started the beige menu this morning. I was on pre-conditioing for 6 days and am down 4.8 lbs!! I had the hot chocolate this morning, it was rather yummy. I was looking at my other supplements and noticed some of them look like a gel, or a thick liquid and others are powders. Is there a taste difference or is that just standad packaging? Thanks everyone!!!

PS I LOVE all the profile progress pics as avatars, GREAT motivation girls!!!! :carrot:

I don't think there's much of a taste difference between the concentrate (gel-like) and powder drinks. Personally, I tend to prefer the concentrate simply because they are easier to mix with water. You almost either need a shaker bottle or a whisk to get the powder ones to completely dissolve. I do like the peach mango powder one, though--I think it almost comes out creamyish. Yum.

Ugh, I feel so bad. After hitting my 40lb. milestone yesterday, I put away some of my replacement bars in the freezer to take on my NYC trip with me. I left three out in case I needed them before I left in June, and I just woke up and ate all [I]three.[/I

I was hoping to lose another ten pounds before I left on vaca, but I just set myself back three days.

This is always something I'm troubled by: I'm used to years of night shift and awaken several times during the night with a rumbling stomach and am usually able to ignore it and go back to sleep. This morning for some reason I just had no control.

Oh well, guess I learned I'm not as removed from temptation as I thought I was and the path to goal weight is not as smooth as I thought it would be this time. This is my second screw-up and both times happened during TOM. I guess I'll be buying some supplements to help me for when this time happens in a few more weeks.

Curse menopause and all its symptoms anyway!!!!!

I agree with this. I don't know what program you are on, but I have taken the peach mango and added a peach to it to make a shake and it was so good. I like the concentrate, as I can take to restaurant , trips, etc.

Little Edie..
Don't beat yourself up.. You did it, and it is done, so go one, today is another day and you will be fine.. We all have temptations, but you need to be strong and not give in to them and you will get there, you really will. Speak to your consultant and tell them what is going on and they will figure it out for you, so this is a thing of the past. Have a good day.

So went to a wedding yesterday and had purchased myself a pair of the short black dress shorts and a new top and new heels and everyone said that I looked fantastic...although I did have to wear my Spanx wannabees to help smooth it all out,I was pretty proud...Now let's pray the scale moves this week....I wish I had some warning on the Green Tea/Cranberry HNS! Yuck...that is horrible tasting....Also does anyone have any tummy problems from the herbal supplements...Corti Trim the last few mornings had been makin me kind of naseous...:)

Thanks. That sounds yummy. I had orange this morning, it was a gel type. It wasnt horrid but not something I will crave later.
I am having a hard time eating ALL the food at times. I decided to make a salad for lunch, and ended up leaving most of the veggies. I just am not hungry. ALSO, I have been dizzy today. I dont know if this is diet related or from being sick, I have a scratchy throat, and stuffy head. However, it almost feels like a low blood sugar dizzy. Anyone else have this?

hope2lose 05-22-2011 05:28 PM

hey y'all : ) About a year ago, I started the MRC diet. Turned out, I had an ulcer which, because the MRC super metabolized me, I had an empty stomach...and my ulcer didn't like that. Horrific stomach aches ensued. So....for the last year, I spent my time healing my ulcer. Do you know what it's like waiting almost a year for something to heal so you can lose weight reasonably? I also gained 20 lbs : ((((.

Well, finally I'm stomach ache free and raring to go. For the last two weeks I've been doing MRC - primarily on my own. I've bought my own HNS drinks and protein shakes. So far I'm 20 lbs lighter. : ) And super excited. The first two days were the WORST on the planet, but now I think I'm home free.

I should also mention that I just cut 20 inches of my hair off. Scary. I was so hot with long hair, but I also felt that I hid my face behind it because I was so overweight. Have any of y'all ever done that? ....so as extra motivation, it's all gone. GONE. Terrifying, I tell you.

I'm HOPEful. Very....and I'm also wishing all of you good thoughts as well. BTW, I just had a great steak with zucchini and squash for dinner. *I* *CAN* *DO* *THIS*!!! : )))

hope2lose 05-22-2011 05:40 PM

oh and I also wanted to say for the purposes of motivating all of y'all. My friend Bill lost 100+ pounds in the last year and his wife P lost 60+ on the MRC diet. They look 15 years younger and just fantastic!!!

HELP I need a cheaper HNS supplement the ones at MRC are eating all my bill money :) any siggestions? TY

I use Isopure from GNC - it's basically a powder but it also comes in expensive bottles.

Additionally I use the Kellogg's® Special K2O® Protein Water Mix Strawberry Kiwi. These don't have as high a protein percentage but they're great. And honestly, I've lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks with these. So they've seemed to work as the clears.

Moreover, Syntrax Nectar is good as well. Many of my friends use this....I haven't but they love it. I'm going to buy this for the long-haul.

goto - www4.netrition.com/syntrax_nectar_page.html
hope these suggestions help!

Congrats on the 40 lb milestone. It would help if those protein bars didn't taste so stinking good! Hopefully it won't set you back too much. I work nights also, but I work 7 on, 7 off, so I have to adjust/ignore my rumbling stomach the first day off every other week.

newme12 05-22-2011 09:17 PM

Teacherlady 79- you look wonderful in your new pic. I can really tell you've lost weight!

Nina2, Hope2lose, Jessica0508, and chasing skinny-Welcome! Hope to hear all about your disappearing pounds and inches!

I agree that the powders and the concentrates (gels) both taste good. I love to pour the concentrates over shaved ice.

Hi All! I have been eating 100% clean and on program since I started 6 weeks ago. Today I completely blew it. :( Went to Old Chicago with the family to celebrate the niece's graduation and meant to order a chicken sandwich (minus the bun of course) and ended up ordering a calzone instead. I don't know what came over me I just couldn't stomach having a salad or a chicken breast... (((groan))) I came home and drank a supplement and then just had another supplement a little while ago... I have been chugging water and did a lot of hard yard work (pulling weeds and what not) trying to counter the EVIL lunch... Anyone have any other tips to help me get back on track? I would be very grateful!

teacherlady79 05-23-2011 08:55 AM

Little Edie-- Don't beat yourself up too much. You made a mistake, now you just need to move forward and get right back on plan. Have you thought about keeping sugar-free jello snack packs for when you wake up hungry? they're only 10 cals, and my center is ok with me eating one or two a day. It really helps to just put something in my stomach, and I really like cherry jello. ;)

Patzi-- Yup, it sure is! Now that I can fit into more fashionable clothing, I'm trying to get really cute stuff, rather than just functional stuff. :)

Chasing Skinny -- tell your center about this. The only time I had dizziness/nausea issues was when I was on a non-MRC supplement that had caffeine. I went off the supplement, and I was fine. I think there was one other time I was having dizziness issues, and they told me to start recording right on my food sheet when that happened (usually afternoon). Then we looked at what I was eating and figured out I was metabolizing oranges too fast. I switched up my fruit, and I've been fine. However, scratchy throat isn't a blood sugar issue--sounds more like an allergy/illness issue. Also, yes--it does seem like a lot of food at first, but you'll get used to it. If you aren't eating everything at every meal, that might also account for low blood sugars later.

patzi 05-23-2011 11:49 AM

Question relative popsicles.

When making them do you use the gel mixed with water or the powder mixed with water.. It is so hot here in Florida would be a nice cool treat .

Thanks

I tried making the creamsicle with the orange powder and vanilla pudding and well.... it tasted kinda powdery to me. I never made them again. I have never made them with the gels, but it seems like that might work better. If you make them let me know how it turns out please :)

Dolly 05-23-2011 11:58 AM

teacherlady, I'll try the jello. I haven't heard that we could do that. That might be just the thing. Thank you.

Patzi- thanks for your words of encouragement. It's odd how I can attend a function with all kinds of tempting food and maintain my willpower, but TOM has caused me to give in to cravings without almost thinking about it.

I'm back on track now. :) And I'm hoping to lose just a "seed" tomorrow (as you so poetically phrased it) for my peace of mind.

It's really hard to stay on plan when everyone else around you is eating exactly what they want. It sounds like your dealing with it the best way you can. Just remember how far you've come in the past 6 weeks. You had something special for one meal and now you have to be determined to get back on plan and keep going. You can do it!

Razorbackbritt 05-23-2011 02:28 PM

Back from Dallas and only had one meal off program. But, I did a Zumba workshop all day and danced for 5-6 hours....so I'm not even worried about that.

We are moving this week and have already sold our microwave and packed our pots and pans...so I'm living on take out food. That isn't great for MRC, but I'm making it work and excited about being settled in another week or so.

struggling Nicole 05-23-2011 08:36 PM

Has anyone ever found somewhere to eat that doesn't just have chicken or steak. Where can you go for buffalo, turkey, venison, etc.? Does anyone go anywhere that is MRC friendly? Just curious! Where do you eat when you eat out?

Hello... New to site & MRC

Hi everyone.

I'm new to this site and MRC. I have been reading your posts and I have to say- they're quite motivating :) Makes me want to re-enroll in the program. I had originally signed up in January and was doing well until I got too busy to go to the center and stick to the plan. I know- pretty bad excuses (I don't cook so it makes it hard figuring out what to eat given I eat out so much). But I just wanted to introduce myself and encourage ya'll to keep it up. :) BTW-have any of ya'll re-enrolled for the program? I'm not sure what the cost would be...

Hi all,

I've been MIA this weekend and trying to catch up with you all . . . welcome to the new members it sounds like you are each off to a good start!

Teacherlady - I love your profile picture - you look amazing and the dress seems to complement your new shape very nicely!

Patzi - I used the Blue raspberry to make popcycles - 1 packet to 3-4 oz of water and I thought it tasted pretty good - though typically I just use them over shaved ice. I think the grape would be good this way as well.

I WI tomorrow and hopefully will be measured and (fingers crossed) will finally sign the 30 lb board. (Saturday I was 1 lb away).

We have a couple of small local places that serve bison during the summer and fall but I don't think that will help you much. I do order cod, pearch, tilapia, salmon or turkey at Perkins, Applebees, most of our local steak houses have fish avaible to be grilled - Walleye is amazing but usually only avaible during the summer/fall near us.

Hi..
I do not have a problem eating out.. I usually call ahead if it is a new restaurant and they will prepare whatever I want the way I want it. Just ask for the manager when I go there. I do not eat red meat, but I usually order, turkey, chicken, any type of white fish, or salmon, any type of seafood. Get a large salad, bring my own dressing or get the FF one there, and get veggies steamed plain. I bring a HNS gel supplement and put that in the water. Many times I will see a salad that has fruit in it that I can eat, and I tell them to put that in as a side dish of fruit and they do.

Are you still on stabilization now, or are you on maintenance?

Patzi
