I did the same as Debi. Also if I gained with the addition, chose something different the next week. I was told to only add the new starch to my lunch. , and for only three days, not consecutive. I was on Meta Slim when I started to stabilize.. Does this answer your question? This is what I was told for week 1.

Does that mean that I can now interchange my starches on my meal plan with the ones on the list--or are those new starches only to be used for my "add on" starch during stabilization. I ask because 1/2 bagel is included on that, and I would LOVE to eat a 1/2 bagel with my breakfast instead of toast. But I don't want to screw everything up by replacing my regular starches with "richer" ones, you know?

Also, what are the day 1-4 and 5-11 menus? I've only been on white, beige and green menus, so I never saw those. Could you post them, or email them to me at sun_angel79 at yahoo dot com? Thanks! I'm just really worried I'm going to have the same struggles as you with stabilization, and I want to be able to adjust as you have, if need be. :)

Thank you for your updates, btw. You have been a big help and inspiration!

I think you may be on a different plan than I am. I am on Meta Slim. I think some of the other plans have different menus,as the MetaSlim Plus, etc.
Don't worry about having any problems. You can always adjust.. My two friends went thru stabilization with no problems or weight gain.
Menu 1-4 is the menu day 1-4 for Metaslim , 5-11 , is the menu for day 5-11, and then day 12 on, is the three meal plan for Meta Slim and you stay on that till you reach goal. What plan are you on?

teacherlady--I'm going to need both you and Patzi to hold my hand when I get to stabilization.

You will be fine on stabilization, really you will.Don't worry, enjoy your challenge till you get there, and once you do, you will enjoy the new foods.

I'm currently on the green menu--I think that's the 3 meal plan for Meta Slim (well, I'm eating 3 meals a day, anyway).

Thanks, Debi and Patzi! That makes a lot of sense.

I was actually surprised to see carbs that span the whole gamut on calories listed on the list (1/2 bagel vs. 5 saltines, etc.). But that makes sense--just because a carb is more calories also doesn't necessarily mean our bodies will all react the same to it.

Thanks! I will look forward to my 1/2 bagel with tuna on it tomorrow for lunch. :)

Weigh in tomorrow morning! Nervous... I've been making lots of better choices and working so hard to stay OP. I can't get past these 42 lbs.

Do you still want me to send my menus for metaslim, the ones I spoke about , or are you going to use your own menus on your plan to add stabilization to?

If you are in a stall maybe the Meta Slim will work for you for a few days for a kickstart. Ask center about this, or depending what plan you are on, go on
to a previous menu. I have tried both ways and they work. It seems Meta Quick for 3-4 days does it for methe fastest.

Good luck and let us know how your weigh in went and be proud you are making good choices.

Adding fat to stabilization and to maintenance diet. Iforgot to mention what I was told during last weigh in.

I turned in my journals during weigh in and I was told the following.

I had salmon for supper and I had avocado in salad for lunch.

They told me to watch the two fats in one day, as they both were high fats, both good fats, but high fats.
It did not make me gain weight, so I may still experiment with it.. I did not eat the total amt. of avocado, as I was experimenting, added half..

frustration

So I'm on day 17 of the meta slim program and feel like I am an inmate when it comes to eating out....there are very few choices on menus that are suitable for the program and when I order so weird people look at me like I'm nuts...like we went to Applebees last night and I said I would like the santa fe chicken salad just the chicken and lettuce nothing else...waitress was like ok??...uh Feeling stupid and deprived! Don't get me wrong...first weigh in down 5.8 second one 2.4 and third 2.8 but feeling a stall or gain this next one!:?:

Rzrbackcandi 05-14-2011 12:56 PM

jmgirl - you have to be a member for 20 days and have at least 20 (I think) posts. There's info on the main 3FC page under information.

It is weird to order out sometimes.. but we all have done it. Just keep in mind, you're doing this for you.. not the waitress or whoever you're with :-)

Hi, my name is Dawn, I have been going to MRC since Jan. 1. Lost 33lbs so far. U r all doing such a wonderful job.

JenB72 05-14-2011 10:31 PM

Hey, everyone! I'm back from my grandfather's funeral. Definitely one of the hardest weeks of my life. Suffice it to say, things didn't go well. On top of the funeral, it was TTOM, and my brother and sis were with me and I let them lead me down the bad path of food choices because I was in no way wanting to deal. I did have one good day staying OP, but that was it. I guess one was better than none. Anyway, I got my butt back in the center yesterday and I went up to 181.5. Oops! By this morning, I was down to 178.7. I'm back on track as of today. I may not have been able to control much of this past week, but at least I feel like I'm back in control now.

So sorry you had such a hard week! I wouldn't worry much about the weight gain, most of it was probably water weight. And eating differently the past few days may actually help you lose more weight. Hope so anyway!

Patzi, could you still go ahead and send me those menus? I'd just like to have them to compare, and to experiment with in the future if need be.

Thanks!

amazing breakfast

I just have to say that on the metaslim program I made the AMAZING cheesecake for my breakfasts this week...can I say it IS absolutely AMAZING...who knew that cottage cheese and supplements could actually make something that good...also good to know that prob after done with program It could be made with jello/pudding almost the same way...sugar free of course! Struggled through the weekend tho...had some tortilla chips and salsa friday night...thinking the scale will be my enemy on wednesday....:p

teacherlady79 05-15-2011 11:02 AM

Well, I started shopping for summer clothes yesterday. It was utterly overwhelming and frustrating--but for good reasons!

In the past, I either went shopping on a mission (needing a couple specific items, so it was easy to ignore eveyrthing else around me), or I was always relegated to one section (plus sizes!) because of my weight. Yesterday, because I'm a size 16 now, I could bounce between plus and misses. Not such a big deal, until I went into Younkers, which has about 10 different areas for Misses alone, and I only had general things in mind (nice t-shirts, etc.). SENSORY OVERLOAD! I was exhausted. I bought a couple things at JCPenneys, then got too overwhelmed and had them put my items on hold in Younkers.

Also, when did stuff get so expensive, even when on sale/clearance!!?? I don't have much of a budget (we're spending so much money getting our house ready to sell right now), so that was frustrating, too--needing lots of stuff, but not having much $$ for it. :(

I also went over to a friend's house to watch a new bollywood movie. She made me Indian food for dinner (didn't realize I was still dieting--she thought I was on maintenance). I had brought a bar. I knew I couldn't handle smelling the yummy, homemade food (she's Indian, so it was the REAL stuff) all evening, even after eating the bar, so rather than end up eating both, I just had the Indian food for dinner. I was so proud of myself, though! I measured out the grilled chicken tikka so I got just the right amount, I only had 1 samosa, about 1/8 cup rice, and about 2 tbsp of the palak paneer. I did really good! I wanted to go back for tons more, but I told myself that what I ate was a treat already. I just logged dinner onto livestrong.com a few minutes ago, and even with the Indian food and the added starch (for stabilization) at lunch, I was able to stay below my MRC allotted calories for the day!

I'm not sure if it will affect my weigh-in on Tuesday, but we'll see. Even if it does, that was a HUGE NSV for me!

jmgirl 05-15-2011 11:02 AM

I agree, since starting the program this has been an issue for myself...and I suffer from IBS so it is 10x worse than usual....Miralax every couple of days works wonders for me!!

jmgirl 05-15-2011 11:05 AM

That's so great you are almost to your goal...so proud to see a fello nebraska buddy in the mix...must say so happy they come to columbus from omaha once a week! best and hardest choice of my life!

Dolly 05-15-2011 12:15 PM

Great solution, teacherlady.

I plan to do this in NYC next month although I'm going to let my teens eat everything they want.

I know what you mean about shopping. Last month I bought some cargo pants that were on sale and they're already too loose now. I hate to buy more now but whenever I haul myself out of my car, I have to catch my pants from slipping. I just don't want to buy clothes until I hit goal, although I did buy myself a beautiful silk blouse that's one size too small now (18) and I intend to fit into it next month.

I've had two "weak" weigh-ins in a row so I expect a good one this Tuesday.

Jen, I am sorry about your grandfather. Sometimes there are things in life that take precedence over others. You're back on track now. You'll do great from here on.

Dawn, welcome. This is a great place for support.

You made good choices for the situation at hand, and you see how disciplined you have become, as you did not go back for tons more. That in itself is a milestone.. When I eat out I always take a fat and carb blocker, do you do that?

Well, go figure, as of this morning I'm back down to 177.0 which is what I was at during my last weigh in. Thank goodness!!! :)

teacherlady79 05-15-2011 08:13 PM

Phew! Definitely worked off the Indian food from last night with all my activity today!

I took mom to Younkers this morning so she could do some shopping and I could pick up the items I left on hold. After I dropped her off, I went to the gym and did my cardio workout. THEN I went home and started organizing and sorting stuff into tubs and boxes, as we had my husband's brother and some of his friends come over to help us move a bunch of stuff to our storage unit (we desperately needed to do that to make the house seem roomier so we can put it on the market).

Been on my feet since 10:30 am, and walking, running, or carrying stuff all day.

Patzi--I don't take the fat/carb blockers. I haven't bought any, and one of my consultants told me she didn't think it was as effective as some of the other supplements (like phentatrim). Crap! THat just reminded me that I"ve been so busy today that I forgot to take my phentatrim with lunch and dinner today! Oh well.

Weighed in yesterday and went down a pound... so I'm down 43. I hope there are more results by the end of this week, but honestly, I'm on my monthly again so this may be why I keep stalling. Any suggestions... please, give. Thanks!

Congrats on the loss. My counselors always tell me to take a B6 supplement to help with water retention. It seems to work so far.

That's really great! Have you heard of the law of diminishing returns with food? The first few bites of anything are the most delicious and satisfying, then our taste buds start losing sensitivity to it. Many of us overeat because we're trying to recapture that great taste of the first few bites. Good job!

Haha! I hadn't heard of that, but it makes a LOT of sense. Especially with spicy foods--because after a while, it's difficult to taste much of anything then. ;)

Increase your weight loss, Staying motivated and Road Ready. I'll need the Road Ready one, since I'll be traveling next Monday.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Had a good weigh in at lunch. Lost 4.5 pounds since Friday. I think it's a combination of getting back on track and the late stages of TTOM. Whew!

Razorbackbritt 05-16-2011 04:27 PM

Ok, for real this time. I'm back, and I'm determined.

I had graduation weekend (and was given cakes and cookies from friends and family, and shots while eating out)...let's say it was not MRC approved.

But now that my schedule is a bit normal, I'm totally back on track. I had to switch centers now that I've moved...but it should be ok. I think the change of pace and centers will help me stay on track too, as I won't have those "old faithful friends" at my old center who let me get away with excuses.

I will be checking in daily to stay on track. It is amazing that when I didn't check here when I came online (or didn't have time to be online) that it was so much easier to stray because I had no accountability. Thanks for being there!
