With all the discussions on age and all...I signed up for my first 5K for Sept. 26...would you believe I signed up in the wrong age category...I completely forgot that I turned 45 this past Feb...I was discussing with a friend how unfortunate that I was running with 40-44 pace times and how I could do better (with my time) if I was compared to the 45-49 age group...my daughter interrupted and told me that I WAS 45! I said no I am not...and actually had to count the years...OMG I must be loosing it! So I frantically emails the organizer of the race and asked that my age category be corrected...so maybe in the end I might finish in a decent time for my age group 45-49

Go have a great time this weekend at the wedding and set that dance floor on fire girl! Knock them out in that skinny little black dress of yours and your gorgeous spray tan then post some pics here when you get back. Don't worry about the food, have your shake then have a bite of this or that and get right back to plan the next day. Whatever you do though, have fun!

We're heading to FL this weekend to see my husband's family... Aunt and Uncle's 50th Anniversary party on Sat. Eve... They have not seen me since I've dropped 52 lbs so I think it should be fun :0)
Karen...you will be the talk of the crowd this weekend....oh, it is going to be so much fun for you....imagine all the whispering that will be going on...you strut your stuff girl...you look so good...be proud and you will be the most gorgeous one at the celebration. Oh, and "Happy Anniversary" to your Aunt and Uncle...50 years...how very exciting! (one carrot for every 10 years!!)

Oh that is so funny GWE...I thought I was the only one that did that...I always have to subtract my birth year from the present just too be sure I am right...sometimes I think we just are not getting enough "brain food"...at least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!!

Gwen - now that cracked me up!! And I think 50 is young too, Fifties Lady! Funny how we can't keep track of our own age sometimes ~ my Mom was 87 in January and a couple weeks ago started telling people she was 88. She had to write down 2009 and subtract 1922 before she would believe she wasn't 88 already ~ I'm 62 but it is only a number - I almost feel I am getting younger as I am losing weight and getting healthier. I can't even begin to think about running though - walking maybe, so I might consider some good shoes - I'll look for a running store where I can get fitted for shoes that will help me be able to walk - after 3 hip replacements, I do not want to hurt my knees, after all!
Good luck on your 5k runs, Gwen and noahsmom

Default Age, ugh.....

You guys are too funny. I have a pretty easy solution to remembering how old I am and if I don't explain it right, please ask.

As long as I remember how many decades, such as 30, 40, and soon to be 50, if I can just remember the current year I'm good. I am 49, but will turn 50 on December 29. So for all of two days each year it doesn't work, but I've been able to manage to remember my age for those two days each year without having a problem. Now that might change this year, say a prayer for me girls.

Thank you ladies for your kind words!

Karen, you have a blast too! I can't wait!!! I'm going to feel like a princess and will somewhat look like one too.

Gwe, you're too funny. I, too, (in my young age I know) have forgotten how old I was at a couple points over the past couple years and then realized that this was the year for the dreaded 3-0. But you better believe I'm gonna celebrate then because I hopfully will be at my goal weight by then if the scales would just move a little quicker!

I just hope that I'll stick with it this time (beyond 2 weeks) since I'm going to buy this expensive pair of shoes!

Just got my lab work back and believe it or not...my cholestrol is the lowest it has ever been...drum roll.......155. So my fear eating all those dang eggs has been put to rest. I am so happy with the results....now....the dreaded colonoscopy....oh dear....I wonder if you can swallow that little camera pill and let it go through your system and take pictures of your colon as it goes down? That sounds like a much easier way to deal with this procedure.

Thank You, Thank you, Thank You Ladies! One final NSV for the night... I went to find some new jeans today for this weekend and just about fell out when I tried on the 14 and it was too big, followed by the 12 and it was perfect.... size 12 Levis midrise bootcut jeans and another brand "Common genes" both in size 12! I knew the 18's I've been pulling up my hips every 5 seconds were too big but wow, not that big! I almost forgot, Sunday is also my birthday so I'll try hard to be good but it can be so tempting... I will definitely post pics when I get back :0)

Size 12...oh...how fantastic is that??? I would be wearing those jeans inside out so everyone can see the size!!! You be so very proud of yourself. I hope to someday see size 12 again. But I have a long ways to go to get there....but I will. Would you believe I bought a size 16 pair of jeans a couple of weeks ago...they were on sale (of course) and I told myself this was my next goal to get into them. I have gotten rid of my 20's in dress slacks, and the 18's are fitting quite comfortably now....it's so nice to beable to breathe in your slacks again.

You have a wonderful weekend now and I will be excited to hear all about your trip when you get back....oh....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

You'll be surprised FL, size 12 isn't as far away as you might think.. I was! And don't forget, I started just where you did (250's) and our goals are pretty much the same so very soon you'll be here too. You're already well on your way :0)

Default Trader Joe's????

Does anyone shop at Trader Joe's...There is one about 30 mins from my house and I have gotten good things from there...Just wondering if anyone else has and if they can share any favorites to look for...
I really like their Chile Lime Chicken Burgers which is a chicken patty, it has traces of onion, bell pepper and lime in it. The nutritional values are 150 cal, 6g fat, 3g carbs (2 fiber) sodium 310mg and 19g protein I know to watch for sodium but I looked on the MRC cream of chicken supplement and it has over 700mg!!! So this is way better than using the supplement to season! My only concern is the traces of onion, pepper and lime (it can't be too bad since it is still low in carb) Sugars are 0..
Do you think its OK to eat?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who forgets her age. I'll be 48 in October. It seems young to me because I had my kids after the age of thirty. As long as I can look at the posters of Zac Efron and Prince Harry in my daughter's room with a lustful eye, then I'm young.

smileydd, you are doing fantastic. You must be very proud of yourself.

Karen, I can't wait to get into size 12 jeans. My 14s are loose but I couldn't squeeze into a 12 yet. My legs are skinny but my stomach is disproportionately larger-as one friend cryptically remarked, "You kind of look like a spider."

"You kind of look like a spider." I LOLed at that one! Love it! I had someone tell me since I've lost about 20 lbs..." You look so pretty! What's different? You can get a man now!" ugh...thanks???! Didn't realize I was so homely before.
