I got them! You are awesome, thanks for the support and sharing! Amy
  • Magic Bullet
Does anyone have a magic bullet that you use to mix your HNS or puddings? How do you like it? Is it lots of pieces to clean?
Just wondering, I like the powder HNS but didn't know if they mix better in the bullet (I just shake them up in a cup with a lid)...
The puddings always seem to have big chunks of powder, any suggestions to make it smooth?

Go to user CP, signature, then copy and past the url for your ticker into the 2nd window. You are not allowed this option until you've been a user for I think 21 days. Good Luck!

Trick to avoid skittles in powdered drinks: Mix/shake well, allow to sit for an hr or 2 and then mix again... all should be dissolved. If using powers, I like to mix up the powder supplements in advance in a large bottle, usually 2 supplements at a time with 16 oz of water and take with me so I don't have to deal with skittles later. My ultimate preference is concentrates. I wish they carried the lemonades in concentrates, that would be great.
As for the pudding, I use a whisk to get out all the lumps. I place powder in ceramic bowl, add 4 oz of cold water, use a whisk to beat the life out of it until smooth - LOL - usually takes 1-2 minutes. Always smooth and great!
  • Quote: Fifties Lady,
Could you post the pancake recipe you have? Last night after reading your post I got an urge to try my own and made 2 pancake servings using oatmeal. It was pretty darn good and I had pancakes for brkfast this am. I would love to compare my recipe with yours. Anyways, here's how i did it:

    Pancakes:
    1/2 cup dry oatmeal
    2 eggs
    1 tsp of vanilla
    1 pckt of splenda
1 pinch (or about 1/4 tsp) of baking powder
    a sprinkle of cinnamon

Place dry oatmeal in food processor and grind until a course powder. Pour into bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Whisk together until you see bubbles forming in batter. Heat non-stick pan, spray with pam butter cooking spray, use large spoon to place 2-3 spoonfuls of batter into pan making each pancake about 3 inches round. Cook on each side until golden brown.

Recipe makes 2 servings = 1 starch, 2 oz protein each. Will need to add 2 oz of protein to get full breakfast serving.

Also, when you made the french toast, how many eggs did you use? I only use 1, otherwise it would be too soggy and I cook for a long time on each time until deep golden brown and it's usually great, not soggy... You can add cottage cheese, cheese, turkey sausage on side to get the rest of your protein.

Finally, if you like using low fat ground beef in recipes, consider trying buffalo/bison. It tastes the same and falls in the same category as turkey/chicken so you can have this as many times as you want. I just started doing this when I heard that keepinon has been doing this the entire plan and has obviously done great. It's a new fave at my house! No one can tell the difference, honestly.

Hi Karen...I missed reading your posts these last couple of weeks. Thanks for the menu ideas. It really does help.

    The pancakes were:

    1/4 cup of ground oatmeal.
    2-3 oz of cottage cheese
    1 egg
    1 pkt Splenda

She said to blend the cottage cheese first until it is nice and creamy...add the egg and blend, then add the oatmeal and Splenda. That is it. But yours sounds pretty good...I think I will try that one. Yes, I think my problem was the 2 eggs for French Toast. I will try it with one egg...that only makes sense.

Hope you are doing great OP....I'm just in a rut with the boring food...I need to do some cooking from the recipe book to try something different. Otherwise, it is working...that's the main thing.
    Hi FL,
Thanks for the PC recipe, Cottage cheese... hmmm... I think I like my recipe but I might try that one to compare. Do you mind terrible emailing me those recipes as well? Sounds like some great ideas, I'll send you a personal message.
    Thanks!

Ha! I'm always just so glad to be getting a taste of something chocolate that I don't end up whipping it for very long. The chunks don't bother me!

Yes, I have one, in fact I purchased it from a friend who posts on here. I really like it. When I made the pancakes this morning, I used it for that...easy to clean and no mess. I need to experiment more with it. I purcased the HNS's in concentrate form, but I had heard it works great for the powdered ones.
  • As for tricks with clumps in power HNS...I just mix the power HNS with a little warm water and mix well with a fork in a 24oz plastic cup, add cold water from the fridge and ice...all clumps are gone and ice cold...I just love the wildberry this way. I do mix most of my power HNS with 24oz of water...just too sweet otherwise.
  • Does anyone know if you can buy the vanilla wafer bars online instead of MRC? My favorite, but rather pricey at MRC! Thanks!
  • Where is your WI located? I am going to the one in clackamas.
