I'm excited. My hair is shoulder length and I am growing my hair out because I want to have layers and maybe a side sweep bang. When I get to goal of being in Onderland, I am thinking of starting to wear weaved hairstyles (which I would never have done!!) so that I can start trying different hairstyles. I dress girly right now skirts and heels But once I get to my 14/16 I will be wearing more color and jazzy shoes. After that when I am in Onderland and closer to goal I will wear "weirder" color combinations which is more my stlye (example stripes with polk-a-dots-if I want!)

I work from home, so it's just a matter of hearing my mother tell me that a 45 yr old woman has no business having hot pink hair, and dealing with the looks from strangers

I finally wear the style I always wanted! I was never, and am still probably not, trendy. But as I gained weight and we moved so much with the Navy, my wardrobe got more and mired condensed. I usually had about two pairs of jeans, 4-5 pairs of shoes and t-shirts, Camis, etc. one or two "nice" things, for the once-a-year ess up event.

And then I lost the weight.....woo boy, did I have fun shopping!

I realized that since I felt good, I could look good, even if I was just running errands. I was never the type to go up in sweats or anything, but just nothing exciting. But now I love to shop. I do a lot of dressy casual, although I seem to be riding the edge between you ger outfits, and more mature clothing, f that makes any sense.

This is something I wrote in February that I think is relevent here:

Inspiration can happen in the most mundane places. This morning, I shared a brief elevator ride with a woman who had stunningly beautiful hair. It was white, mixed with silver and it was long. Her hair glittered in the light of the elevator and it looked so soft...like silk. As I was behind her, she couldn't see me gaping at it, which I did until she got off the elevator. A few thoughts swirled around in my attic as I got off the elevator and went to my cubicle, the main thought being, "There goes a woman who flouts convention."

Her hair was neither dyed nor cut short as is the fashion of women of a "certain" age where I work. My own mother had beautiful silver hair sprinkled with bits of black. When my husband first met my mother and saw her hair, he just gaped. At the time, she also wore her hair long despite being in her sixties. Then, my own long hair had just a few sprinkles of silver and on that day he asked me to never dye my hair as long as we were together. It's been 18 years and now I've far more silver although I'm still mostly brunette and I haven't, nor shall I, dye my hair.

In this I will flout convention too. My hair will honestly show my age and my silver. I will not cover it up with dyes and now I'm inspired to let it grow. I cut my hair short years ago when it was damaged due to stress and other factors. Now? It's healthy and shiny albeit not taking well to the short styles I've tried to maintain over the years. I miss my long hair. I think I'll have it back. So as my weight diminishes, I'll let my hair grow. I'm reclaiming my own style.

Why is it that no matter how old we get or what we do in life...to our mothers, we will forever be stuck at about 12 years old?

I have a woman who comes into the store I work at who's in her 40's. She has her hair different shades of blues, purples, and pinks. I love it and she looks awesome. Oh and there's the 80 some year old woman who comes in with lavender strikes through her hair.

I've always changed the way I look for no reason at other than I wanted too. And thinking back it really never lined up with weight gain or loss through out the years. Thinking back I loved every "phase."

My hair is long and black and I'm definitely buying some clip on dark red and maroon hair extensions. I don't care that I'm 38.

*grins* You've inspired me. I think when I officially hit size 14, I'm going to dip-dye the last 3 or 4 inches of my hair (it's down to my tailbone) so I have bright red hair with black ends.

I chopped off my hair. All of it. Into a 1-inch boy cut. I haven't had short hair since I was... maybe 2 years old. I'd had my hair chemically-straightened for like 20 years and I chopped it all off and now have short afro (super curly) hair which is a huge difference, but I love it. Funnily enough, it's made me girlier than I used to be when I had longer hair. Now I pay more attention to make up etc because if not I look like a boy.

Clothing-wise, I kind of dress the same. Even at my highest, I was always kind of interested in fashion and staying as true to what I felt was stylish as possible at my size, so I wore dresses, camis, trousers, skirts, dark-wash jeans, cute shoes, jewellery, scarves etc... Any changes in style are kind of for practical reasons e.g. now I have to be strategic in a different way over my necklines to balance my smaller chest and cover my wrinkly boobs whereas before, higher necklines made me look like I was neck-less and made of head and boobs. But my general style hasn't really changed.

Ha ha...I bought a dark purple clip in extension last weekend and I'm totally planning on wearing it! Life's too short and I'm not hurting anyone.

I cut off all of my hair like that twice. Once in 2000 and once in 2008. Both times I kept it short for about 2 years and I loved it. I know what you mean about the makeup. Also, earrings were super important. Luckily I have a pretty round head so it worked for me.
