cardinal~ weigh in again today if you can. My eight ussually comes off the night of the second date. so you might be lower than you think

Kisha~ 1/2 cup of edys is 1 S
1 and 1/2 tbsp of nuts is 1/2 P or 10 nuts is a fat.
And of course the lite is a lite

Andi~ my counselor suggested doing it every two weeks, especially since i am so picky about what i eat that after @ 2 weeks, i begin to stall becaus ei basically eat the same thing everyday (chicken, of course) I only get about a pound off a week regularly, and with TO I get about 2 lbs, so it helps me keep at the 2lbs, and plus I like TO because i hate forcing myself to eat all of that food daily, so it works for me.

Wow Mary..way to go!!!!!!

Bre~ I'm a pack rat to and its when I find somethign that I need, that I am really proud of myself for being one (I am proud to say i finally through away my juniorhigh and high school homeworks and tests...although i just had to make room for my undergrad and Masters paperwork )

Deets~ glad to see it worked out for you.

I hear alot about the calories we are getting in, does anyone know how to find out how many calories you should be getting in or cutting out?

Well, I'm back from my WI - I'm at 186.0 even - so I'm down .6 - not terrific - but better. . .I'm really hoping for getting BELOW 185 next week. . but won't be easy with chinese tonight, and other social activities already on the cards. .

About the new bars - I'm with Sy - really did NOT like the coconut one, but do like the new brownie and caramel ones - they are labeling the caramel ones as caramel-peanut butter. . the brownie ones are almost like those tastycake fudge bars. .

Asked about chinese - not OP at all - except for steamed veg and plain rice -acording to this counselor - the meat not OP mainly because it's fried in some way -- oh well, just have to do the best I can. .

Mary - there are a lot of metabolism calculators on the web - I think 3FC has one, too - try plugging in your numbers and see what you get. .Do you take a multi vitamin?

Deets - you WI in JEANS . . . that's extra weight right there. . . About the exercise - they told me that they'd move me to a higher plan if I was doing 5 hours of exercise a week.

Carmen - wow - so glad you found a counselor - wow 96 weeks??? I've been having problems with hunger lately too - hard to believe that extra 4oz of protein really makes that much difference in hunger levels? Going from red to purple must be worse. .

Kisha, got an email that turbo jam is on it's way - didn't pay for rush shipping, so anytime in the next couple of weeks.

The bars are only (apparently) being tested in the corporate centers. Mine's a franchise-and they don't know anything about the new bars yet. Just sit tight.

I asked about Chinese food the other day, and I was told that I should definitely avoid any of the obviously fried stuff and if there was a sauce on what I got, I should count it as a starch, or a starch and a fat (they weren't real clear about the fat part, but I figured it probably had a lot of oil in it so I counted both). I'm on maintenance, so it's probably still not OP for weight loss, but it might help you to count it that way.

No way! I WI in the pants I first was wearing when I joined the center, they are ridiculously big but very lightweight. I change everytime before WI, I refuse to WI in jeans...Nope, the gain is all me AND, I havent cheated..maybe I should...

Since being OP, I havent even done a CC slice of pizza..maybe I should go for it tonight.

BRE; Thanks so much! I had kept everything myself except that one piece of paper. I did start it this morning. But you answered quite a few questioned for me. I can't wait to see how it works this time around.

Thanks everyone for looking into this for me, I will keep you posted on my on results, I love seeing yours .

Gotta go have my chicken off the grill now before I burn it.

Denise

WI tomorrow. I really need to do an overhaul on grocery shopping.....getting the fruits in are hard. DD wanted broccoli again for lunch. :-) I am amzed that I still have energy without all the sugar & caffeine I was having before. Now my darling 5 yr old drill sargent says it's time for "our" exercise tape. I guess telling the girls I would have more energy for outside activities when the weight came off is motivation for her. We have an empty paddock & pasture just waiting for me to get back in to my "old" active life. (Just moved). Got snow in the Mtns, so another motivation with skiing around the corner. Have a great day, and keep up the good work (and motivation for me). JLynn

Default Newbie

I just joined LAWL yesterday and today is Day 1 of Take Off. I must admit that I was extremely tentative in my consultation yesterday - I asked a lot of questions and thought long and hard before joining. I was scared yesterday and am still scared today, but excitment is starting to show as well.

A bit about me... I am 29 and live in Calgary, AB, Canada. I am married to a wonderful supportive (most of the time) husband with no kids, pets or responsibilities. I am a lifetime WW member - I joined for the first time in 1995, got to goal in 2000 (after ? tries) but didn't learn how to keep it off. I gained all of the weight back with approx. 20 more pounds. I am now at 182.8 (WI at LAWL) with a goal of 124 (I am 5'4") - 59 lbs. to lose.

I guess what finally got me to join the program is all of the success stories that are scattered over the walls of the centre. All of these people look 'normal' and have been successful with the program. Also, the guarantee of losing 2 lbs. per week was very important to me as I tended to lose quite slowly with WW.

Tomorrow, I go back to get my program. It sounds like many of the programs are quite low-carb and I am slightly worried about that as I am not big on protein. Also, I am not surprised about the push for the LA Lites, etc. but wonder what they will do in my case as I indicated I would not eat the bars, etc. every day (my consultant (not sure if this is the right word for them) even wrote it on all my forms that bars and snacks would only be used 'as needed'). I'm sure that if my losses are slow or I hit a plateau they will become 'needed', but I will cross that path when I get there.

I guess one other thing that has surprised me is the fact you need to pre-pay for the bars. I understood pre-paying for the program (given the refund and the # of weekly visits), but for supplements?!?!

Thanks for listening. I hope to be able to gain a lot of those of you who have been doing LAWL for a while. As well as be able to share my experiences!

Well, hello chicks

so since my last post here is what happened. i was so annoyed that i gained at lunch on wednesday i went back that night. of course i was up still since i had my food. so the new manager took me in and said she wanted to talk to me. she looked over my chart and decided that she needed to figure something out for me. she noticed that i have not lost since week 3 or 4 and that i have been sitting at the same spot. she knew that i was having trouble getting all my foods in and that i had been trying really hard to get them in lately. so we talked and we discussed me trying to be on purple but staying on red. we were going to try it for 2 weeks and see what happens. then she did some calulations and say that i was 1/2 way in between being on red and being on purple so she decided to try me on purple and see what happens.

i have to say that i was nervous about giving up a starch, but not so much about giving up that 1/2 of protein. so i started it yesterday and actually had no trouble getting all my foods in and i actually have more energy today and when i went in at lunch i was down a 1/2 a pound. so i have to say good start we will see what happens on monday.

as for the new bars, they had them today and OHMYGOODNESS!!! i loved all three of them. I thought that the Brownie ones were so much better than the double chocolate, i mean it tasted like my brownies i make. the coconut ones i thought really did taste like a almond joy and the carmel, well i am not a snickers fan but LOVED IT.

Angel- i hope that you will be able to get some. watch on ebay for someone to be selling the new flavors and pick some up.

Sarah- congrats on the new addition

mary- congrats on the big loss

not sure who asked for the chicken salad out of the cookbook, but will be happy to check it out and post it if you still need it.

i am sure that i am missing people. i really need to start writing down people names.

carmen- glad you like the new Counslor, that is important.

we are going to go to the West SIde Market this weekend (for those Clevelanders who know) it is a market that has been around for YEARS, with fresh fruits, veggies, butchers, bakers, you name it they have it. We have not been in a few months so I want to go and get some fruit.

I have been trying to use the FFJ as 2 of my fruits, but the new manager wants me to stop using it. I have about 2 or 3 days left of the bottle and thought that i might just finish it.

i have to say that i notice the other thing that i do in order to get all my foods in is to have a big salad at lunch that covers most of my veggies if not all of them. with being on the new purple plan i have to say that i find myself planning a little bit more.

I have a protein and a starch in the morning and veggies at lunch and protein and starch at dinner. i am thinking about moving both of my starches to earlier in the day, but we will see.

I would also like to let everyone know that they have come out with a new book now. For the plans that you are on they have updated the books. They are much nicer and user friendly. I recommend getting one from your center.

well, i hope that everyone has a great weekend. i am not sure if i will be able to sign on this weekend. talk with everyone monday if not earlier.

Hi Suzanne, welcome!
It's getting towards TOM and I'm beginning to bloat. At least I was up only 0.8 lb yesterday, and not up a full clothing size like usual each month!
I've found a pitfall...eggnog. I LOVE eggnog. I don't like the OP recipe, since it uses one of their vanilla lites and I don't like those. They have aspartame, YUK. My counselor pooh-poohed the low-carb version I found with Splenda. Anyone with any ideas?

Wrigley - when you say they have new books do you mean the menu planning kit or the free to live to binder? Also I'm glad that they are working with you. I can't imagine how frustrated I would feel not being able to lose when sticking to plan like deets!! Uggggggggg I hope that both of you are just losing like crazy now!!

Welcome to the newbies....I am just so excited to see this board growing!

Hi all,

Suzanne- You will be so glad that you found this site. Congrats on signing up to LAWL, also.

Mary- I tried the heated berries with a sweetener, a crumbled pita, and some FF whipped topping. Thanks for the tip, it was wonderful. A true dessert!!

I did WI .8 higher this morning. I know that I have not had the best week though, partly because I feel so crappy, partly because of TOM. Hopefully by Monday I will be able to WI better. BTW, I got a Holiday Recipe Book at my center this morning. It has some good ideas in it, but it does not tell you serving sizes, or how to count it. I did see some great ideas for dessert that I would like to try. I have getting at least two extra waters a day, and my counselor says that I need more water this morning! Okay, but I might float away. I am supposed to be writing a paper and lesson plans, but I would rather hang out here with all you chickies. Hope everyone has a great, POP Friday!! Katie
