Coaches/Buddies Off plan tonight. Feeling lousy and entitled. I could continue but it is stopping here. I am on track as of right now.

The work thing turned a major corner today. I'm feeling a lot better about it, which is cool because it is one less stressor to deal with. Spent about 1 1/2 hour folding laundry in prep for the trip tomorrow. Going to the mountains for the weekend. Haven't decided if I'm going unplugged or not. How could I bear it? But I feel like I "should".

Catch up with you guys on Monday.

Anne

Thumbs up Friday

Diet Coaches/Buddies - Took Gerbilina for a walk after work while the weather outside threatened; CREDIT moi. Grateful to have an elliptical at home with no waiting. And with Patti Smith Horses (1975) blasting loudly on real speakers.

Facing a working lunch which last quarter consisted only of BIG sandwiches, chips, and desserts, I called the organizer and asked for salad in addition. Well, there was a big bowl of mixed greens and a platter of grilled veggies. ("We knew that the kind of people who want salad like grilled veggies.") I was in heaven. CREDIT moi for eating well and CREDIT moi for taking the step to get what I wanted. The salad and veggies were snarfed by all. One more reminder that if real food is provided, people will go for it. I skipped the croutons in the greens and skipped the cookies and brownies. A separate CREDIT moi just for those.

Robin (RobinW) - Ouch for the wine and potato chips. Can you find out who's bringing those chips into the house and smack their little hands?

Anne (wndranne) - Ouch for falling into "entitled." That seems out of the blue. Kudos for "on track as of right now." Thanks for the good demo for us all on dong Success Skill 9: Get Back on Track - Right Away.

Yay for work turning a corner great burden off your mind. Have a neat weekend in the mountains.

Tera (twilit tera) - Yay for the low (1) average pain level for the day. And congrats on the continued (-2) drops in your scale readings.

Kudos for using the "do something whenever I get up" strategy. Gotta nibble around the edges when you can't dive in.

ChinaMaine - Big OUCH on your DH's job. Sending supportive thoughts his way for dealing with the trauma as well as success in his search.

Yay for the fatigue level 1.0 day, especially since it comes so soon after the stress of the Buffalo trip.

Kim (bennyhannamama) - Kudos for eating on plan (deficit even) on a stressful day. Ouch for a sick DD; hope she gets well before she passes it on to you.

Just noticed that the dancing broccoli looks a bit like a green banana on a bad hair day, LOL. But Kudos for having five of them; sure livens up the page.

bucket (bucketwithapurpose) - Waving. Continue to send supportive thoughts.

Beth (Greenville Beth) - Kudos for being ahead on Day 7 - Arrange Your Environment. With a smaller plate even. Good work.

We're on the same page about lifting weights. I love my weights. They have BIG cast iron numbers on them. Makes me happy just picking them up. I just suffer a bit of pec envy when the buff guys lift the heavy stuff.

Margaret (Nuxmaga) - Kudos for sorting the "should" out of your Advantages List. Gotta love it that "sense of peace" is in item #1.

To make your Cheat Sheet, get a 3x5 card. On it, write the following questions:
Quote:
• What was the situation, and what were my sabotaging thoughts?
• Did I eat this food slowly, while sitting down and enjoying every bite?
• How do I feel now that I’ve given in?
• Had I read my Response Cards and Advantages Deck today?
• Did I try any other Resistance Techniques?
• How can I avoid this situation in the future?
• What can I say to myself next time?
Carry this card with you. Take it to an office supply store and have it laminated. Whenever you eat unplanned food, pull it out and think about your answers to these questions.

Not having a good day. The lack of sleep is out of control which makes the rest of my life feel out of control. Going to bed with the kiddos at 8pm tonight. Tomorrow is a new day. (Oh and credit for posting, even though I feel like such crap!) Oh and while I'm at it, credit for riding my bike everywhere I went today and credit for giving myself credit !

Coaches/Buddies An OK day today. Travel to mountains. Eating was different than usual, but OK. Kids are melting down and not letting each other sleep. I'm not digging this family hotel room stuff, but there's no other way with a 3 and 1 year old. Yes, he's 1 next week. Eek.

Bill The veggies for lunch sounds inspired.

Tera Sorry for your fuzzy brain. Hope tomorrow/today is/was better.

RobinW

Kim BIG kudos for posting on a bad day!

Default Day Eight

Today's weight: 234.6 Up 1.6 lbs. First goal: 231.0

Today is day eight - Create time and engery.

I have lots of time and little responsibility. Crazy but true. That being said, creating time and engery is one area I won't have to struggle with. Thank-goodness as I do and will struggle with many more!

I knew my weight would be up, water weight, due to eating out last night even on plan. Hopefully, it will go back down some tomorrow.

I have been working to be quite mindful while eating and eating much slower. Credit me.

I have a busy weekend ahead of me. As I said before, I'm in a show at a gallery that opens a week from today. I need to get my paintings there Monday so they can hang them. I need 10 to 12 and only have 7 done. Of those, I only like 2! I have a lot of painting ahead of me and I'm so not in the mood!

Anne - The mountains sound wonderful. Hopefully the little ones will let you get some rest.

Bennyhannamama - Hope you get some sleep. I've had sleeping problems all of my life, so I know how taxing it can be without sleep.

Tera - Hope you feel better soon.

BillBlueEyes - Major credit on the lunch and way to speak up for yourself. It just goes to show how others are willing to help us on this journey if we simply ask for help.

I go nuts with the weights when I do lift. I like to push myself as far as possible. If I can still walk to the locker room after lifting...I haven't worked hard enough.

RobinW

It seems a lot of people are having a tough day one way or another. Here's to a better tomorrow!

All best,

Beth

Thumbs up Saturday

Diet Coaches/Buddies - OP eating included blueberries on my granola for the first time of the US season (North Carolina); CREDIT moi. Did gym; CREDIT moi, noting with pleasure that I'm using good form doing my squats, after a couple of years of telling myself that I shouldn't do squats because of my knees.

Curses on the varmints that ate my sugar snaps and snow peas plants. Oh Well. Perhaps next year I'll put up netting to protect them from the birds. I believe it's the English House Sparrows, which I don't like. Wonder if I'd feel equally annoyed if it were Rose-breasted Grosbeaks? Perhaps some of you experienced gardeners can give me tips on how to keep my equanimity when the joy of gardening become battling mother nature.

Robin (RobinW) - Waving back. Stay busy kick starting the US economy.

Anne (wndranne) - Good grief!! Isn't that one year old the kid you just had a few months ago and just quit nursing? Ouch for one room family intimacy; BTDT. The only silver lining I can remember is that DW and I had to go to sleep with the kids since the light kept them awake.

Tera (twilit tera) - Yay for another low (1) average pain day. Ouch for not sleeping well even on your brand new bed.

Kim (bennyhannamama) - Yep, Kudos for giving yourself credit, especially when feeling off. Hope you made it to bed early.

Beth (Greenville Beth) - Day 8 - Create Time and Energy seems just the right area to work for a person who needs three to five paintings completed this weekend. You need some of onebyone's work-under-pressure magic, LOL.

Congrats for really pushing yourself with weights; some days I feel that I didn't do enough just for the reason you stated, it's too easy to walk home.

It's actually very important to refrain from eating if you are feeling upset, stressed, or rushed - even it it's time to eat. It's important to wait because you can't possibly enjoy your food when you're feeling this way, and you are likely to feel unsatisfied and overeat.

I like Dr. R. I told her the whole story, brought in the patient history report from Dr. G, and one of the journal articles I found linking trochanteric pain to tendinopathy.

She had me cross my legs and bend over, which hurt, and lift my right knee, which didn't. She then said that she agreed with Dr. G that it sounded like bursitis, but that she agreed with me that bursitis does not usually last six months. What's more, it usually strikes in cold weather, so for me to be in pain in the summer is strange.

She's going to investigate every possibility I can imagine. She's ordered blood tests for arthritis. She's going to look at my x-rays and decide then about ordering an MRI to investigate tendinopathy. She saw my lumbar x-ray and suggested the possibility of referred pain from a pinched nerve.

Oh, and being on plan was not so hard as I expected, even tired and sick and going to the grocery store to fill a prescription and planning a dessert, which turned out to be bananas with a little chocolate syrup and whipped cream.

Sinus infection. Nothing smells very appetizing. I'm still drippy but my throat isn't as sore. Should have no trouble being on plan today!

Kim: Progress! You came and posted after a lousey day! Big fat credit!

Anne: Wishing you luck and sanity traveling with the youngsters.

Beth: for progress on mindful eating!

Bill: Sorry to hear about the garden getting munched. I do like house sparrows - they give me something to look at out the window when the ducks are absent. But they are tiny.... I don't know if my grandparents strategy would work. They used to keep blueberries that were favorites with the local wildlife, and they put up a net shelter to keep things out.

Was about to go to bed now, still feeling overwhelmed with life, but a little bit better after some sleep last night. Thought, I'll just start posting on the BDS board once I'm back in the swing of things again... BUT I realized that is NOT a good idea

Too tired to write much, but I do want to just say that I took the kids for ice cream today and ordered myself a (baby size) frozen yogurt with sprinkles (I've been in the habit of doing this for several weeks now. I got it to go because I didn't really feel like eating it then. Figured I would eat it tonight, but haven't really been dying for it. (Surprising since ice cream, etc. is one of my favorite things.) So, I'm going to bed without eating it- yipppee!

Thanks for the kudos on posting on a crappy day

Default Day Nine

Today's weight: 234.4 Down: .2 First goal: 231

Today was day nine - Select an exercise plan. This is a tough one. Like many people, I don't like to exercise. As Beck says, that's besides the point! Starting a new job next week, it will take a bit to figure out when the best time to exercise is. I am not a morning person and will not get up early to work out, so there is no point in setting myself up to fail. I'll figure it out. Tomorrow, I will be pushing a mower for a couple of hours, so that will be my exercise.

Credit me for eating mindfully, staying on-plan, and mowing my yard. Tomorrow is my folks yard.

I have a hard time with hunger at night. I try to leave enough calories so I can eat later in the evening. I'm out of calories, so I think, I will go to bed early to keep my hands out of the cookie jar...so to speak!

Tera - Great job with sticking on plan today even with being sick and the Dr.'s appointment. Credit! It sounds like you've found a good doctor. That's great! It's not always easy to find someone that you're comfortable with and truly listens to you.

Bill - Great job on going to the gym. Squats are killers, but they do the job. I can't help you with your garden problem, but I feel your pain. I have to pecan trees in my backyard. Last year they were full of pecans. The squirrels knocked every single one of them off the trees before they were ready. At least they enjoyed them.

All best,

Beth

Coaches/Buddies What a day. My best of bad choices included things like donuts and Coca Cola. Finished it off with a McSalad since I had to have some vegetables. Yikes. Race staff got hit with food poisoning so we were scrambling to help out on little notice. I got to babysit the race director's kids along with my own. Calories not so terrible in the end, believe it or not. Yes, I do love junk food, but not ONLY junk food. Bleck. Credit me.

Not much time for personals, but Tera sounds like an awesome doc's appointment. Hurray!

See you all tomorrow or Monday.

Thumbs up Sunday - May is slipping away

Diet Coaches/Buddies - Made great food choices for dinner; CREDIT moi. Agreed to make dinner if DW would go shopping with me. (When I go shopping alone, I never buy anything; I HATE shopping.) Walked about and collected a rotisserie chicken, a wad of broccoli-raab very lightly sauteed with Parmesan cheese, and a wild rice mixture with cranberries and cashews. Made a salad with, ahem, my lettuce picked the night before. Ate on the patio at 8pm still light out and warm. The good life for sure.

Anne (wndranne) - Ouch for life among "best of bad choices." And Ouch for food poisoning - glad you and family avoided it. Hope the mountains are otherwise living up to your expectations.

Tera (twilit tera) - Dr. R sounds like a winner - carefully listening to the info you bring to the investigation. Hope that continues.

Ouch that sinus infection means "Nothing smells very appetizing." And, of course, Yay for the respite from wanting to eat all the good smelling foods, LOL.

Kim (bennyhannamama) - A string of goodies here: Kudos for choosing a small frozen yogurt; Kudos for not woofing it down immediately; and Kudos for posting here. Not a bad day at all.

Beth (Greenville Beth) - Yep, Kudos for giving yourself credit. Smart to step gingerly choosing an exercise schedule to fit your new work schedule, but it sounds like some weights will be part of it.

Ouch for those squirrels getting to your pecans. I love southern pecan trees; don't think I could have a productive tree in my yard and not eat a zillion pounds of each crop.

Default Great Day, Beckies

What a great Sunday morning. Nippy in Minnesoda this morning, but forecast to reach a high of 80.

BillBE, what an incredible evening meal you enjoyed with DW last night. Outdoor dining is simply the best.

Read a post this a.m. from one of our fellow 3fc-ers with a lot of struggles in her life right now. I found myself giving her advice about exercise. Methinks I need to take some of my own medicine.

Yesterday was a whirlwind of gardening morning and evening with some serious family obligation stress taking up the day's middle. Woke up this morning over-joyed with the day's prospects, so I guess that exercise thing really is true. Of course it doesn't hurt that it was all gardening. I have always insisted there are only a few good reasons to work up a sweat.

My best to all.

It was a very lazy day, but still coughing, sneezing, etc. Getting lots of water helps. I will be on plan today.

Kim: for ordering really small yogurt and for not eating it!

Beth: for not making plans you know you won't follow through on. I firmly believe that there is exercise for everyone, and that it isn't the same exercise for all of us. I thought I hated exercise until I started working out in the pool.

Anne: Yikes is right! Glad that the calories didn't go off the chart. for getting through a tough day.

Bill: Your meals always sound great!

Maryblu: The mood lift is the #1 reason I keep going back to the pool. Burning calories is a fringe benefit. for your exercise insight.

Can't believe it's almost June. See y'all on the next thread!
