Wylothar: How about a jug of protidiet oatmeal? It can be made into muffins, waffles, pancakes, or eaten as oatmeal. I'm also pretty fond of making a smoothie out of the quest chocolate shake mix and spinach and I use cold coffee and coffee ice cubes
That is what I was suggesting to her. Because if nothing else it doesn't work for her I could still use it.
Protidiet is the most similar to the IP protocol then?
I have used the Proti diet and Healthsmart oatmeal. (But, I like the new IP unrestricted oatmeal for taste...not sure if actual IP is available to you or not)
Can anyone tell me if this is allowed as an alternative?
I found these, they seem like they would be allowed as an alternative and even as a non restricted but I want to be sure before I try. Any input would be most appreciated image.jpg
If the pic doesn't show its the paleo protein bars. It seems the flavors cookies and cream and chocolate mint are the only 2 that aren't allowed because far from calories is more than 30%. But chocolate brownie, Carmel, cinnamon, and glazed donut seem ok.
Thanks for your input.
Does anyone know of a link or a listing of the IP packets and their nutritional contents? I am trying to use alternative products this time around, but no longer have the boxes that listed the nutritional info. I want to compare different protein powders to the IP ones that I was using.
Yankeefan - I created a post where I provided a spreadsheet that has what you are looking for. If you search for threads started by me, you should easily find. I've added some additional items to it so if it interests you send me a private message, and I'll send you the most recent one I have.

I would be hesitant to use these as a daily item, because if you are carb sensitive they could be an issue. It also isn't clear what the primary sugar in it is (looks like a hybrid created sugar/probiotic (from what I can tell - and isomalt does produce an insulin response) and the effect they have on insulin production is variable, based on how it's produced and from what.
If you have done any carb sensitivity/tolerance testing while on your IP journey you will have a better idea of whether you can tolerate it, despite it being only a 2 net grams of carb.
Interesting that it should be low fat, being a paleo bar. The other consideration is that it's a lot of sodium and potassium for a single meal. You may have water retention issues with salt values that high.
Hi everybody. It has been a long time since I visited this website. My husband and I each lost weight on Ideal Protein (60 pounds each). Unfortunately we have gained some of it back, so we have decided to have another go at it. Finances are tight so we are going to try the less expensive products. Here is my question first of many I fear. When determining if the food is IP compatible, do you just look at Calories, net Carbs, and Protein? Do ingredients and fat matter? I do know it can't have aspartame.
I have been reading all the past posts but there is a lot to go through. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Welcome back - this alternatives thread, and the prior threads that you can find in the first post on Daily Chat threads have lot's of good info on alternative products.
In addition, check out Lisa's first posting on this thread - Skye Avery opened the thread and then Lisa posted the basic guidelines to follow that tell you if a product is IP compliant -- calories, fat, protein and net carbs (total carbs less fiber) are the key indicators.
Thanks oneuh2. I think I saw that post, must have missed the part about fat. I will go back and check it out. Does it matter if the shake is whey or soy? I have not heard good things about soy. Also the vitamins...I remember taking handfuls of them when on the original IP diet. Are they extremely important? Which ones are necessary/helpful for weight loss. We are in very good health. There is a lot of information on this thread but I have not seen Lindora mentioned. Is that a good site for alternatives? I am positive the caramel nut bars were the exact CNut bars that IP sold. A lot cheaper. Thanks again
Just throwing this product out. I have been hearing about this product from Mark Sisson of the Primal Blueprint for some time. I am sure the fat profile may not be exact IP compliance but I have heard it amazing. I have to give it a try. We don't use much mayo anyway. https://thrivemarket.com/avocado-oil-mayo
I hate the WF products so much, I can't bring myself to even try anything new they put out. It just taste like fake diet food knock offs. And they aren't even good at that.
Agreed on WF products! The only product that I have tried and like is the Maple Syrup...I swear it tastes like the real thing. I am just trying to think of more ways to use it!
Two possible alternatives that are also gluten free. I just completed my order on Nashua and wanted to know what you guys think.

The second is more so me being excited because I've never seen a gluten free brownie mix on Nashua! Hope its yummy! Healthsmart Browine Mix:

My cursory look at the brownie looks like it would be okay: 120 cals. 10 net carbs, <30% fat.
Is it soy-free as well? If so, I'll have to take a look...
The powdered peanut butter on the other hand....
It isn't enough protein to be a "packet" so then it would be an extra.
Extras should be 0 carb/0 sugar/0 fat.
So, save that one for P3-4
