Just curious though, how similar in taste is rutabaga to turnips? The bitterness of cooked turnips makes me nauseous to the point that I get sick, so I'm hoping they don't taste exactly the same.

Rutabagas are not as bitter and I much prefer them!

I think rutabagas taste sweeter. I don't like turnips because they are so bitter.

Had the rutabaga fries tonight - loved them. Too bad they're restricted. They satisfied my craving for French fries, not a huge fan of Big Mac in a bowl. I am probably the only one who doesn't like it. :)

I don't like Big Mac in a Bowl either. I make "Burger in a Bowl."

Ground beef, raw white onion chopped, pickles chopped, mustard and WF ketchup over a bed of shredded iceberg. It's a salad that tastes just like a burger!

I think it was the lettuce mixed in with it that I didn't like. Next time I will separate the salad

For those that like fries, you should try jicama fries. I like them more than rutabaga fries and best of all they aren't restricted. They aren't bitter either.

Haven't checked in here for a couple days. It's always fun to se what people are making.

B: caramel nut bar
L: chicken soup and then sautéed broccoli zucchini and mushrooms
S: wild berry drink mix
D: 8oz steak with rutabaga fries. These were so good I have never made them. And now I want them every night. Sad day. But found something new! :)

Haha thanks! I just posted about rutabaga fries. Didn't see everyone else's posts. I will have to try this. Also turnip fries? Anyone know of those are pretty good?

B: 2 egg whites, 1egg, scrambled in olive oil, with spinach and mushrooms
L: roasted cabbage, EAS chocolate drink
D: grilled chicken, sautéed spinach and garlic
S: caramel nut bar

B. IP chocolate drink mixed with coffee
L. IP fine herb and cheese omelet with 2C spinach
D. Big Mac in a bowl with 2c mixed veggies
S. Vanilla pudding mix

First time making Big Mac in a bowl. Loved it!

Not really enjoying the puddings. The chocolate one was better with added salt and cayenne pepper.

I'm back and on track! My cheat yesterday was pretty small, so hopefully it didn't set me back too far. I was up 1 pound this morning but wasn't starving all day like I thought I would be. It was pretty easy to get back on track, thank goodness. :) Thank you for all the support. I thought I might come back here to a reaming, but I'm happy that didn't happen. :)

The rutabaga fries sound worth trying, I am scared though. I tried turnip fries last week and they were so bitter that I couldn't eat them. I also bought a jicama last week but ended up throwing it away because I had no idea how to use it. I guess I should have made fries!

Are we allowed to use the reduced sugar ketchup? The WF doesn't hit the spot yet (I know my tastes may change :) )

B: honey nut Os
L: salad w/ italian vinegarrette, peanut surprise bar
S: chocomint shake
D: 'teriyaki' chicken and zucchini/mushrooms (soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil, garlic, ginger, wf pancake syrup)

To me turnip fries don't really crisp up like jicama fries. The flavor is a little bitter also.
