VE reading how successful each of us has been and how fast some of us have changed sizes! That was the best, and most unbelievable part, for me. Once I started changing sizes, I was amazed each time I put on a "new size" item and it was slipping around, baggy, or starting to fall off. Things changed so quickly it was sometimes hard for me to reconcile it.
Part of why I wanted to see this information is it isn't just about the weight. The way we look and how our clothes fit tells how many inches we have lost and how much fat (the right tissue to lose) has gone. I am so excited and motivated by the changes each of you have made!
I can't wait to read more posts like these!

Isn't it amazing that in the short time you have been on IP you have blown past your weight watchers low point!

I am so happy for you to be at a 15 year low! That is such an amazing and exciting feeling! GOOD FOR YOU!

p.s I also have a size 6 dress that I bought this summer that I absolutely love and it is has become my goal outfit!!! My dh and I hope to go back to Mexico in January and I am hoping to be able to wear it......(we got married there last year and after I gained 35 lbs).

How EXCITING! You must be thrilled with your fantastic success! Like you I had clothes in many sizes in my closet. They marked decades of me trying so many diets and always just coming close to what I hoped for. Sometimes the best feeling in the world was me looking in my closet at "some old thing" and thinking " I can't wait til that fits again." then, trying it on and going OMG!! It zipped... it fits.. It fits NOW!! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!
I am sure you will do fine passing on the pumpkin pie and having an appropriate Thanksgiving. Keep focused. That size 6 dress is going to look and FEEL amazing on you!

In March when I started my weight loss journey, I topped out at 310 pounds. I was wearing mostly size 24 for bottoms or dresses and 2x-3x for tops.
In July when I began IP, I weighed 285 pounds and was still wearing the 24's.
...
Earlier this month at about 245, I purchased a pair of jeans and a dress that were both size 18. I also picked up some cheap long sleeve t-shirts that are larges though I think I'd still prefer an XL there but my girls kept saying they'll just be huge in a few weeks! I also bought a couple of sweaters that are 14/16 that fit my curves nicely (the way my husband likes) but aren't that tight.
...
I have been a little confused about sizes though because I know when I was in high school, I admit it was 27 years ago) which was the last time I was at my goal weight or 185, I was wearing 14-16's and I think I'll be wearing those sizes in another month or so but I won't be at 185. Even back in 1997 when I got down to 200, I was wearing a size 20.
I guess I'm going to have to go try on my size 16 wedding dress that I wore 26 years ago and see if and how that fits!
|
I am glad you enjoy this thread! I agree we can be so similar in height or number but how we wear that is so different!
Isn't is amazing that you can lose 25 pounds on other diets and not change a size but, on IP, you lose 40 pounds and change 4 to 5 sizes!!

It just baffles the mind!
Regarding old sizes, yeah, they don't compare. I have clothes in my closet from 1984 (my absolute smallest post puberty) and even some from through out the 90's. When I lay comparable cuts, in same sizes on top of each other there is a definite difference in size. When I measure, it is about 1/2 inch to a full inch off sometimes. My impression based on that is a late 1980's size 8 is approximately a 2010 size 4/6. A 1990's size 10 is roughly still a 10 but sometimes a size 8. Granted, it is an imperfect comparison as the brands/designers and countries of manufacturing are different but, so are many items on the rack today which ARE labeled as the same size and most definitely aren't.

Seems I've slowed down a bit, but I haven't been as faithful to my exercise routine as I was, so I think if I get my workouts going again, I'll start shrinking again... I think you are doing great. Exercising is such a different part of the equation! You have dropped about 4 sizes in a summer!

That has to make you happy!

9 weeks is fast!! A size 16 to a size 10 must be such an exhilarating feeling! Isn't it fun to finally be shopping in your closet! I found it was. The only draw back for me is some were quite dated in style. As I tried those on and they fit, or fell off, I got rid of those dated items and replaced them with something current.

Congratulations on the 91 pounds!! That really is FANTASTIC! When you look back over the 6 sizes you have changed does it even seem real??

Today I weighed in at 128, although my coaches official weight is 131.8 right now.
This weekend I bought size 6's, tried on a 4 dress that just wasn't cut right for where my waist is (I have a long body), but looked good otherwise. I wear small shirts/tops, and bought a size 2 shirt last week. ...

Look at you! 58 pounds gone and a little more than 5 sizes! I can't even begin to imagine wearing a size 2 top. Lucky you!! I am so envious! You must be both in wonder at yourself and a bit euphoric at your results each time you look in the mirror! Congratulations on all your success, Jessica!

I love IP it seems to sculpt your body without exercise. I plan to exercise once I get to goal. I used to work out a lot but never really lost weight. I can't believe how toned my body seems while doing IP without exercise.

Congratulations on finish nursing school! I am sure that was quite a challenge. AND, congratulations on losing with IP and, when you were ready, getting back on track. You have had some really great success! You really change sizes fast! Anyway, I think you shift sizes fast! To go down more than 5 sizes in 54 pounds is remarkable!

I'm down 53 lbs, so at 302, I'm fitting into 22's, 2x's, and very tightly in some of my old 20's... I can see them fitting on the horizon!
My final goal is 180, and I have no idea what size I'll be, but I'm hoping for 14 or smaller. I just can't get a handle yet on where I'll be when I'm done.

Congratulations on all the success you have had! Losing 65 pounds is quite the feat! Just think, soon you will be in "TWODERland!"

You really have had great commitment! I am sure you are thoroughly enjoying being in 22/20's.

Hey there Soontobe! You look incredible! You will look so amazing in your wedding photos after having lost more than 35 pounds and more than 4 sizes! Your photos really show a much more sleek you!

I think it is so interesting how so many of us have been in the size 20s at various weights and heights. I have a lot of baggage in my hips...ugh! My trainer is helping me work on it, hopefully we can melt some of it off. I used to have a funky shaped booty, but now it's starting to look better than ever. This plan is so amazing and I am so thankful I came across it and all of you!!

I have always admired your commitment to losing weight and exercising even if it might have meant losing more slowly than someone else! Looks like that strategy is gonna give you a more shapely behind!

AND, it looks like it is working for you! You have still changed sizes around a 10 pound average loss! That is great!! You really are looking beautiful!

Oh, and I am 5'9". I went from a 44DD bra, to a 34DD (but it's origami going on in there!).

Sgorny! OMG, Lady you are looking REMARKABLE! Your recent pictures show such a skinny minny! You are such an inspiration for me! I know you lost a fair amount of the weight and the sizes before IP but, your dedication to change really is admirable and noteworthy! You must constantly wonder at the 10 sizes you have changed. Do you feel it or see it all yet? Do you find your mind is still catching up or have you completely adjusted?

Currently my 18s are falling off of me. I have a bunch of size 16 pants tried some on yesterday...they fit, but are tight in the thighs, I will wait a week or two more to see what happens. You are really off to a GREAT start! 21 pounds in a month is really an exciting start! I found IP keeps doing that kind of "melting" You will be amazed how quickly you blow past that old size 14 you wore and how soon you reach and go lower than, 160!

Now when I'm folding laundry I look at my new clothes and say to myself, "I fit into those?" Can't wait to shop for new clothing when I reach my goal. Until then, I shop at second hand stores.

Way to go!! 42 pounds and more than 4 sizes. Not just that but, you can wear a juniors!! Outstanding! I don't have that kind of build and, wouldn't even begin to slide those cute junior sizes over my curvy hips! LOL..
I know what you mean about the wonderment as you look at smaller clothing. I will do that when shopping. I am better about going to the right size but, STILL, look at it and say " OH, I don't know about this!".
I too frequent the second hand, consignment, ebay and good will shops. I have found some amazing $3 to $10 dollar finds. This weekend I got a really nice Ann Taylor dress for $10 and a Ralph Lauren suit for $12. I wouldn't be able to drop so much weight or size without having something handy and cost efficient like these places!

Congratulations on the 38 pounds and 4 sizes! That is so exciting. I found things I had bought thinking "a few pounds and this will fit" didn't fit at all because my body shape changed. Are you finding that too?

It really is unusual crossing from the women's to misses sizing. I really enjoyed when I finally got off that bridge.

I am glad you are having fun shopping for clothes these days! You really should be enjoying the success you have earned! I completely agree! Letting go of the old body image is exceptionally hard to do! Good for you and congratulations on all the success!
