Carbs can cause near immediate bloat. Those pounds will go away quickly.

Another pound down. I am pleased with my 8 hours eating timeframe and 16 off. Many days it is more of a 6/18. If I am not hungry I don`t start eating because I can or eat at the end of my eating time just because I can. I am really trying to listen to my body signals.

It's not so much carbs as my diet is very high in carbs anyway (fruit and veggies are carbs). It's the sugar, as I said. Plus the lack of fibre and TOM have me even more bloated.

Healthygoals. Great philosophy.

Yesterday I only had 124 cals because I wasn't hungry until late so I only had a banana and a coffee. (I do 500 cal fasts a few times a week rather than daily windows).

Today also turned out to be a fast because I ended up going back to bed until 4 pm. So by default I've eaten less. I made a huge salad when I got up but I didn't finish it, and even then it's only 209 cals, plus a bit of hummus which I had with a carrot stub (bit that I could no longer grate into my salad).
340 cals
Was up to 129.8 back down to 127.2 this morning.
Cycle day 1 aka TOM

Up again 127.4 TOM and no BM
I had a high cal day today. Came in around 1000 but I'm calling it 1200 just in case. I was hoping the extra food would help move the BM along. I am also going to take a senna tablet tonight.

Any idea why fasting is a breeze some days and grueling on others?

Violette I think it really depends what you ate the day before. If you ate a lot of carbs and not a lot of protein you'll definitely be hungry on a fast day.

Finally whoosh 125.2
Ate something I shouldn't have. But my total was still 740 which is low for a non-fast day. But because I are 540 at once I was not about to eat more late. And it was filling with protein and carbs. I have a low cal lunch for tomorrow. It could even end up being a fast.

AmethystJean, your fasts seem frequent and your non-fast days always seem to be really low calorie. Do you find how you're eating to be sustainable? You're also a lot smaller than me so maybe that's why it seems that way to me.

Today is fast two of three for the week. Planning for my third fast to be on Friday so that will also mean no booze until Saturday. An extra day on the weekend without drinking seems to be helping me lose again. The snow day at home yesterday kind of screwed me up though! I was ravenous and in the company of way too much food at home LOL Oh well. I'm only up a pound from the previous day and I had a great workout, so I'm not worried about it.

Good Morning,

Hope everyone is doing well! Did a fast yesterday, today doing 16:8. I'm determined this week! Last week I did ok, but not as good as I wanted to in terms of cals during non-fast days.

AmethystJean - I agree with Noname... be careful!

Noname - you're doing so well I see you have a mini-goal of 15 lbs, which is my immediate goal as well! We can do this! Lets motivate eachother everyday! I think you have my number if you want to text each other and keep each other accountable each meal!

Talk to ya'll soon!

Violette - I agree with Noname - depends on what type of foods you ate the day before! I find that if I have a hefty amount of protein, my fast day is a breeze!

Healthygoals - you're doing so good! Keep it up!

nayla - Good to see you around again! You're right, I think I do have your number somewhere... Do you have a timeframe for your 15 pound goal? I'm thinking I should be able to get there by summer, and be at my overall goal by the end of the year but who knows!

Still doing three fasts a week and today is fast 3. I just started Week 3 of Couch to 5K yesterday, still loving it. But I still can't imagine running for a full three miles straight haha! I'm not sure I'll see a loss on the scale this week, but I'm feeling so good physically that I just don't care! SO much energy! I don't know if it's C25K or that I've been taking vitamins or what!

Noname - that is so good to hear. Feeling great is definitely a plus! I'm hoping to also reach my goal by summer. I'm sitting at 147.6 been doing good this week, though! I may give three day fasts a try soon. Just gotta be on my normal routine for a couple of weeks more.

I'm so excited for you and your energy! Very cool!

So glad to find a fasting thread! Not sure what I'm doing is intermittent fasting, though. Maybe someone here can let me know.

What I do is go by the 1200 calories a day multiplied by seven days. Rather than getting 1200 a day, though, which leaves me ravenous every day, I do two days where I can eat whatever I want (which ends up being at least 5400 calories together), plus five days at 600 calories each day.

That approach has allowed me to lose half a pound a week since February of 2014, except for gaining a few pounds at the holidays (this week I'm back to that Christmas weight, so it took a couple of months to get back to where I was).

I started with Alternate Day Fasting, which was great to a certain point, but stopped working after a while, maybe in the 130s somewhere. So I had to make a change, and that change seems to have worked. At any rate, I appreciate the opportunity to share and to learn from you all about what works for you.

Edit: I loved this quote and could totally relate to it:

Be blessed, Cathy

I spent the last two weeks experimenting with Lean Gains and Warrior Diet. I'm going back to Every Other Day Diet - that's where I'm the most consistently compliant. I can power through a fasting day knowing I then get to eat to satisfaction the next. IF protocols where I'm still eating at deficit level every day cause just as much suffering as doing that without the periodic fasting.
