FinallyFree - That's awesome! I've heard good feedback about combining Keto and fasting, especially for people with PCOS.

Wannabe - Isn't it amazing? You really do think you'd be totally famished by morning! Hope your fast goes well today!

Lillian - Good luck today! Don't forget - water, water, water! Please post here if you are having any issues getting through the day. We are here to support you!

Today is NOT a fast day for me and I am thankful lol I decided I WILL do three fasts this week, but only because I was able to schedule it with no back-to-backs. I think the B2B was my problem. So I'm fasting MWF. Next week will probably be only 2 fasts. Getting to the gym tonight to start Week 5 of Couch to 5K!

Nixie, welcome!

Nixie...Welcome!

Carol Sue... on your scale moving...I started today with 500 on spacing it out..100 calorie per meal...Glad to hear you are doing great!! Keep it up!!

NoName... I see you as a fighter...and I believe you can do this...I hope your plan of action goes well. We all rooting for ya!!

So far so good...I cook for my mom and sister, so I must control myself on not nibbling or taste foods...I feel so good eating less of this plan...I am hooked on fiber foods, that keeps my tummy well..It looks like canned/rinsed beans will be my staples from now on..Gosh,,this journey will be interesting...

Enjoy your day,,later chicklets!! Thinking of everyone...Be good...

So hi, I'm here to learn more! (also new to the forum!)
Welcome Nixie,
This is a fun WOE and you can change it up whenever it stops working for you. There are so many varieties of IF.

Noname, I have been watching tons of youtubes on the Ketogenic Diet with both doctors and just people who promote it. It does seem to help folks with certain health issues. I know it's making me feel good. I may institute a little carb cycling with this. Maybe fat cycling too.

This group has some positive energy going here

Well...It seems like I will do 1 meal a day and fasting...I ate my cooking tonight and stuffed myself. Oh well.. I will not eat my morning meal or lunch...snacking..and just eat a normal and sensible dinner.

I am curious on my morning weigh in.....I shall not give up!! My motivation is very high, since I literally have pain on my butt!! This weight must go!!

I had tried this around christmas time on fasting and my sugar readings were normal under 100...so I challenge myself on staying with this method.

Have a great fasting Friday....

Ahh this is why I don't usually fast on Fridays! I thought my bf had plans and wouldn't be home, so it would be easy to have a small meal and chill out. But, friends want to go out for sushi. Shouldn't be too hard to keep my calories low, anyhow, but I'll be tempted to drink. :P Just gonna roll with it.

Lillian - Thank you, that's very sweet of you. How did your weigh in go? Sorry your fast day didn't go as planned, but you'll learn as you go! Keep it up, you can do it!

FinallyFree - I've always been intrigued by fat and carb cycling. Wish I could do keto but it's just not sensible with my lifestyle. My friend has a keto food blog, if you're interested: http://www.butterisnotacarb.com/ She has lost over 100 pounds in like a year. It's simply amazing. So proud of her and inspired by her.

I am trying to familiarize myself with intermittent fasting so hoping this thread can help! Is it ok to eat dinner lets say at 8pm and then not eat again until 1pm? Does that count or no? Also, do you take any supplements to help you curb your appetite in case you start getting hungry in between meals? I hear such great things about IF but then some people say the opposite and that I should be eating every 2 hours! lol I think I want to give this a try though and see what happens.

Welcome Franola,
This is a very flexible type WOE. You can fashion it to your own lifestyle easily. You sound like a night person. It would make sense to work with that, especially if you tend to eat at night anyway.

I went to youtube when I first started this and absorb all the different type of fasting programs. That was fun. There's a lot on tube about it.

Nomame your friend has an awesome sight with lots of great looking recipes.

Well ladies, I am doing an awesome job maintaining! Too bad I'm trying to lose I've been circling around the same 5 pounds for months now. This week will be a two-fast week, first one is today. We'll see how that goes. I may have to take a break if I keep maintaining, and shake things up a bit. Going to try to meal plan and log all of my food Monday-Friday into MFP. Good news is that my 5K training is going well.

Hope everyone is doing well, sorry this is so short. No time today!

Thumbs up

NNS, the pictures on your friend's blog are to die for! Great low-carb recipes are always helpful and appreciated.

I'm finding it more difficult to lose since getting to these last ten pounds. I have to exercise practically every day, AND I did not make my usual half-pound weight loss this week, for the first time in a year! It was point four pounds, which is just a little less, but still, I would have liked to continue that streak.

I may have to settle for less than a half pound loss a week, but am not giving up keeping it at that point. This week I'm going to start being very strict with the calories. I've started a log in Word, and there are no longer "free foods." Everything counts, including the cream in my coffee. On second thought, I may leave the greens free. We'll see how it goes.

Best of luck to everyone. Even learning what doesn't work is progress - let's just keep fine-tuning!

I tried to speed up my weight loss by two weeks of straight low calorie dieting. Crashed and burned and didn't lose an ounce. Five days back on IF and I'm losing again. When will I ever learn?

Hi Franola.

What FinallyFree said about this being very flexible. There are lots of different ways to do IF and I actually experimented with 4 different protocols before settling on alternate day fasting.

There are a few things I consume when I get peckish during a fasting day: sugar-free Metamucil or other psyllium fiber supplement, bouillon soup, green drinks from powder (I like Fighter Diet brand but Barleans is good, too) or kombucha. I like the Synergy brand but there are others or you can make your own.

ETA: Also, sugar-free gelatin. I've started making my own with unflavored gelatin and flavored stevia.
