Another good day here. Day 5 and my fasting was 20 hrs again. Just got busy and didn't really get hungry until after 2 pm today. I did get hungry last night but it was so close to bedtime and after 4 days of no nighttime eating, I didn't want break the new habit of no evening snacks. I just hope I can make it a habit of no nighttime eating until it becomes the norm for me.

Liliann It took me a while to settle on how I wanted to eat. My problem was I just couldn't find one that fit me and my lifestyle that I could live with. My doctor had told me that any diet would work if I could live with it. Your portions might be slow for a while, but I think as you get used to eating this way and the freedom you feel gets stronger that the portions will lessen. I think we end up eating large portions at first because we are so used to having to eat certain amounts on diets. I am noticing that I get satisfied with a less than I used to because I know that I can have what I want. Example, I can't remember what I was eating yesterday, but I remember thinking that I wanted more, but the next thing I knew I was saying out loud to myself, "No, I can have some more later or even tomorrow if I want it" and then forgot about it. I guess I really forgot it, because I can't remember what it was so guess thinking I wanted more was just passing thing. Hopefully the longer we do this the better things will get.
Good luck on your IF journey.

nayla Hope your 500 cal day is going well.

noname Congrats on finishing the Week 7 of C25K. Enjoy your weekend with your Grandmom.

Catch y'all tomorrow.

Noname - so proud of you!!! How are you feeling with the program? Sounds like you're doing very well Ragnar is a 199.x mile race, this one starts in Miami and ends at the FL keys. 12 runners each have 3 legs to accomplish that range from 20+ to 12sh miles total. Its a relay... Van one goes through the 6 runners taking turns and finishing their 3 legs, then van 2 takes over and does their portion. My plan right now is to train for 10 miles. Although the total mileage is broken down I want to be completely ready. If I get my way, my longest leg will be 5.80 miles and the rest on the 3sh and 2sh mile.

Anyway, reason why I need to get in shape. Went over by about 100 yesterday and today only had about 1100 so all good I think. Would love to see a loss! Need to do some excercise tomorrow just overwhelmed with work /:

Check in tomorrow! Good night ladies!

Had a good fast yesterday but the scale isn't really reflecting it. Oh, well. I shall march on! This should be a relatively low-calorie weekend compared to normal since I'll be away. I strangely do better when I'm on the road. Did some cross training last night which was a nice change.

Nayla - Thank you! I realllly struggled with Week 7 (took me about 3 weeks between being sick and just having a hard time with it!) but I'm still enjoying it. The first half of the run I usually enjoy, and the second half I spend cursing myself haha!

Wow the Ragnar sounds awesome! What a cool concept. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you though. I don't know how you keep your calories so low on nonfast days, but you're also much smaller than me :P What's your plan for training for the 10 miles? I know you were regularly doing 2 mile runs before. Hope work calms down a bit.

Liliann good luck!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi! I've been IF'ing since early 2013 and have been maintaining my 80 lb. weight loss with a lot of success.

When I first started I was experimenting with different eating patterns because I was simply not hungry in the mornings. I would still force myself to eat because I thought that was the thing to do. So I eventually started to delay breakfast and found it to be very sustainable. I did not know what IF was at the time.

I usually eat 2 larger, well-balanced satisfying meals with no snacking in about a 6 hour period daily. I still eat all of my maintenance calories everyday, just my eating window is condensed. I do my non-strenuous exercising in a fasted state as well.

I do not calorie count hardcore, but I am very aware of what I am eating and its calorie content. I write down everything I'm eating in my notebook. It helps me to see what I have eaten and helps me to make sure I am hitting my macros.

Also I learned that mini-meals made me hungrier so I was actually eating more then I thought throughout the day because I was rarely satisfied.

IF has been incredibly freeing. It has helped me have a healthier relationship with food and I feel more in control with my choices. For example since I close the kitchen at a certain time, it helped me to kick my night-time mindless eating snacking habit over time.

Also it's great to be fat-adapted and be able to go some time without eating especially if I'm travelling or busy. I don't cut any foods out (when I was losing I did cut out some trigger foods, but I can eat them now).

It may not be for everyone, but this is something I can see myself doing for the rest of my life.

Liliann So glad that you have found your fast time. It helps a lot when you find the time that fits your lifestyle. We diabetics just have to give this time to work for us so remember that you may not see a lot of results for a few weeks. Hope this works for you. From what I have read, given time we will see some good results fasting bs as well as the scale. However, the better fbs seems to come before the weight starts moving really good.

SunnySide99Thanks for sharing your experience in maintenance. Edited to say: your experience so similar to mine. When I ate more meals, it seemed to trigger a constant hunger. This way of eating is so "normal" for me that it is more of a lifestyle for me than a diet. I too can live this way the rest of my life. Thanks again.

Noname You know it is really strange, but I always do better when I'm traveling. I could go for hours maybe even days without eating. I could very easily eat one meal a day when traveling. Enjoy your trip.

I fully intended to eat at noon today and ended up not eating until after 2 pm again. Still haven't had my second meal, but probably will soon although that will make my eating window a little longer than 4 or 5 yrs, but still less than 8. Got my exercise done for this week. So I have a pretty good first week behind me and Sunday will start my second week of IF.

Have a nice weekend.

Liliann Congrats making day 1. And thanks for the good words. Actually I realized this morning that Sunday will be day 7 and week 2 actually starts Monday. Still going good. Weight isn't moving yet... just bouncing between 2 numbers. But from what I read or learned from listening to the oriental doc, I think his name was Fung, this is normal so I consider myself on schedule and not worrying about it. I heard of a woman once who was on WW for one year before she lost any weight. Sure hope I am not one of those. I know this will work so just going to keep doing what I'm doing.

I started out just doing one day at a time and the next thing I knew I've now got 6 Days almost finished. So just hang in there. We can do this.

Have a good day.

Liliann Yesterday I read an article on Yahoo that said that women's weight loss is bumpy... up and down. So I guess this is normal. I seem to lose a little and bounce around before I actually show a weight loss. My WI is tomorrow. I showed a 1 lb loss yesterday so I hope I will keep it. I never know because I bounce around before it stays down. I'm really not expecting a lot since tomorrow starts my 2nd week. This is the time when we have to just stay on track. That is my plan to.

I'm doing the 8 hrs eating window, but I think I need to change my starting time so I can stop eating earlier in the day. I've been eating later at night. I've been noticing that I've been hungry later at night and I think that is because I've not been fasting until 2 or 3 in the afternoon. To day I ate earlier around noon and I was able to eat within a 7 hr window and had no hunger tonight. So I'll start me 2nd week tomorrow with a late breakfast around 11 am or noon.

A quick flyby to just check in. Today is WI day and the beginning of Week 2. I lost 1.6 lbs this week. So I feel good about that.

I decided to go back and read on DietDoctors.com again. He has a place on the site called New so I checked it out and bookmarked it to read again. He explains the difference in Strict, Moderate and Liberal lowcarb plans which I found interesting. Strict LCHF is <20 g carbs a day, Moderate is 20 to 50 g a day and Liberal is 50 to 100 g a day. I know I'm not going to do well trying to do strict so I will probably do more of a Liberal and see if I am able to lose pretty good. Thought maybe someone might want to read so that's why I'm sharing. For those who don't know, this is a Swedish doctor who uses Low Carbing with his patients. Swedish doctors officially dropped the Western LF style of medical treatment and adopted the Low Carb lifestyle of eating in 2008 and from what I understand they are successfully treating their patients to be healthy.
