Good morning.

Annn, sorry it didn't work for you. I have gained some weight recently and went on it Sunday and am down 10# so it is really working for me. Know a lot of this has to be water retention, but had to come off anyway, so I am happy.

I am making my own shakes sometimes and making my own entrees so I won't have the sodium that is in the frozen ones. I do use some of the store bought products when I am in a hurry and have to be away.

Believe I have really found something that is going to work for me.

Hi, everyone! I am late to the game! I never heard about the Simple Diet until last week, and I can't believe it as I've known and tried every diet invented.

I loved Nutrisystem, lost 25 lbs. on it, but quit as it was too expensive. This is the answer to my dreams, as I need structure.

I ordered the book from Amazon, but plan on starting before the book arrives. I have Prime, but for some reason, there is a delay in shipping.

I wish there were more people doing this so the board would be a little more lively.

I think many of us have quit diets because they weren't as effective as we hoped, when the truth was that only removing the fat with a chainsaw could provide results as quickly as we wanted, and even expected to see.

Rapid, effortless weight loss is a myth; and the methods that can achieve something close, come with dire risks.

If you're choosing low carb, low calorie fruits and vegetables and aren't dramatically exceeding the minimum calorie/meal equivalents, the diet is going to yield more dramatic results than other reasonable plans, simply because the calories ate so low.

If you choose 100 calorie shakes, 140 calorie meals and choose low carb vegetables and fruit (the plan minimums), your calorie intake will be under 700 calories.

If you're not losing as well as possible on 700 calories, you need to get your endocrine system checked and determine whether your expectations may be unreasonable.

We're taught to expect at least a two-pound loss every week, when that oten isn't possible even for some of us with 150 to 200 lbs to lose.

Some people also don't read the entire book, because the plan basics are so simple. The plan allows extra shakes and meals and unlimited fruits and vegetables with the provision that you cut back on the higher calorie options if the "extras" or higher calorie basics are interfering with your weight loss.

You really can't find a simpler diet that is reasonably balanced nutritionally and relatively inexpensive.

Good morning to all.
I am still doing the Simple Diet and am down 11# since last Sunday, but know that a lot of it is water retention, but still has to come off. Am very pleased with this way of eating.

I hadn't heard of this either and have also tried almost every diet around, but am glad I found out about it, because it has just been what I needed to get me started on losing again.

As I make some of my own shakes and entrees and stay within the guidelines, I avoid some of the sodium.
My calories have been around 700 to 900 most days and haven't been hungry, but if I am I know I can have that extra piece of fruit or extra shake. That way, I don't feel deprived.
Have a great day.

Yesterday was my first day, and my book from Amazon arrived also. Still reading it. Is there a certain amount of protein we should try for each day? I ate 84 grams of protein and 1125 calories yesterday. Fat grams totaled 29. I didn't experience any hunger until last night around 10 PM so I went to bed to forget about it.

Good morning. I am still doing the Simple Diet and love it. I don't know about total protein, but I keep my shakes limited to 10 - 26 grams of protein and less than 6 grams of fat and meals 10 - 25 grams of protein and less than 9 g. fat each.

This has been working for me. I can eat 100-200 calorie protein bar per day with less that 5 g. fat instead of 1 shake, but think I would be better off if I skipped those.

Love the fact that I can eat veggies and fruits, if needed.

I have been eating from 700 - 1000 calories and not hungry until sometimes, like you said, before I go to bed.
I also drink appro. 8 glasses of water and get around 30 min. exercise 2 times a day.

This plan is so doable for me while doing others I have failed. I lost around 40 on low carb and just quit losing and then was discouraged and gained 10 back so now have around 20# to get to my goal. As I am only 5'1" and old (LOL), I have a problem losing. I have to watch my diet as I am prediabetic(without meds) and so far, my sugars are great.

I don't have the book yet, but got this info from things that I have read. I plan on getting the book soon.

Glad you have joined me and know we can do this together.

Remember though that fruits and veggies aren't just allowed, they're required - at least five servings.

Hey! I'm old also and short! I'm 5'4" and turned 60 this year and I'm having a hard time accepting my age. When I fill out forms online I still say I'm in my 50's, sometimes 40's And yes, that is a recent picture in my avatar. I don't feel 60 and I certainly don't mean to sound conceited because I am not, but I don't think I look 60 either. When my mom was 60, she looked much older.

I have always loved frozen dinners, so eating this way is right up my alley. I have a hard time with the shakes....they are expensive to purchase and I think eating Greek yogurt would be a little cheaper and have about the same stats.

Two years ago I went on Atkins, lost about 20 lbs., got really bored and gained it all back. I've done about every diet out there, even NutriSystem, lost 25 lbs, gained it back. Never got to my goal either time.

Today I had a 1/2 c (85g) of Mukimame (shelled edamame or soybeans). I could have counted it as a vegetable, I suppose, but since it fit the guidelines for a shake/bar/soup I used it in place of one of my shakes.

I bought the Archer Farms (a Target brand) Mukimame

120 cal (only 100 if you subtract the fiber calories)
4.5g fat
12g protein

(2g net carbs for those who care).

I microwaved them and added a little salt. Nice movie snack.

That sounds good. I tried edamame only once and didn't care for it but it wasn't shelled.

I saw on the Simple Diet's Facebook page that we can have greek yogurt in place of the shakes.

Sounds good. Love greek yogurt. I have never tried edamame, but will have to do that sometime.

I didn't care for either edamame or soynuts when I first tried them. They often have a slightly bitter flavor if made from the wrong variety of soybean. Oddly though, once I found a brand without the bitter afternote, and really got to liking them, even the slightly bitter ones began tasting good to me.

I guess maybe that makes them an acquired taste.

The fuzzy shell of unshelled edamame is especially off-putting at first, though - like sucking on an unpeeled kiwi, it just feels wrong.

I often read and post in the Medifast and Ideal Protein Alternatives threads, because the guidelines for their meal replacements are fairly similar to TSD and there's enough overlap that I can find products that fit into TSD by reading their threads.

I'll still read the threads for ideas, but I'm not sure I'll be posting any longer. I think the plans apparently don't have as much common ground as I thought. At least that's the impression I often get reading the responses my posts seem to generate in those threads.

Have any of you faced the same issue in other meal replacement forum threads. Do you feel welcome there? What problems and challenges have you faced there.

Do you think this thread is the best place for The Simple Diet product and recipe suggestions, or do you think we can support two threads, one for questions, check-in and support and another for recipes and product suggestions and reviews?
