I have no idea how people with kids do the diet. So I can't answer your question. I'm about to start the diet with my husband as we're sick of calorie counting. The simplicity of this diet seems really appealing and the fact that I don't like cooking.
I find that this diet is easier to do in warm months. I am swamped with cold weather and buried in snow so cold shakes just do not appeal. If spring ever comes, I will start it again. I think it is a good diet and does not require a lot of work.

Okay, so I started doing The Simple Diet last Thursday 2/5 and already I've lost 5 pounds. Granted most is water weight, but I'm happy all around. What I like about this diet is the convenience and it satisfies my sweet tooth.
It doesn't have me eating breads, pasta and other "white" foods which my body doesn't do well with (packs on the pounds) but I love. Do I miss them? Not really.
My goal is to get into Onederland by May 7th when I head to vacation in Florida to see my older sister. We're going to be doing lots of physical activities and I want to look awesome.
I'm going to be starting this plan soon, a little nervous. I'm going to read over a lot of what people say here because I don't know too much. I just got the book and it seems to make sense to me so far. I'm a big time over eater and this seems to be a way to control my portions to help me relearn what proper portions are, so it is extreme change for me but it's one I know I can do. I just don't know if anyone would be interested in talking to me more about it? I'm new to this forum too is there private messaging here?
I started day 1 on this diet, it's been kinda hard because my husband's family mailed us a bunch of junk candy for v-day then girl scout cookies. I threw out the v-day candy but I had a few cookies. My husband is taking the rest of the cookies to work so I won't eat anymore! The foods are pretty good though, so as long as people stop sending me stuff I'm hoping I will do okay.
Hello,
I just started back on the Simple Diet and wondering if anyone else is doing this now. I would love to do this along with others for support.
I have several premade shakes and also protein powder that I need to use up, so this will be great.
My biggest problem are the entrees as I have a big problem with sodium. When I was doing this before, I made some of my entrees so may do that this time.
I lost well on this plan before, but have gained 10# since so need to get with it again.
I'm new here, but I just started the SFL Cookie diet 2 days ago... so far I'm hanging on, but I'm reading the book for the Simple Diet and I think this could be something I could do long-term (as opposed to the cookie diet!! )
Has anyone had luck long term with the simple diet? The only thing that gives me pause is having to eat frozen meals all the time. About 10 years ago, they were ALL I ATE for lunch... to the point where the smell made me nauseous... Lean Cuisines and Smart Ones and Healthy Choices, etc., make me sick to my stomach. I'm hoping it will be different this time. I saw some of you used alternatives and prepared your own frozen meals. Do you have recipes to share that worked??
Hi CityGirl. I am still doing the Simple Diet and doing pretty well. I have lost a total of 13# since I started.
Since I have a big problem with sodium, I do make some of my entrees and just use foods that fit in the program. For example, last evening I made an omelet from Egg Beaters and veggies. Egg Beaters totaled 12 g protein so that fit the program and they were only 60 calories.
For lunch yesterday I had 1/2 c low fat refried beans (140 cal and 10 g protein) with some canned tomatoes and so made a soup for less than 200 calories.
Hope these suggestions help. I am going to make some recipes soon and will post those.
Hope you are doing great with the plan. It is really the easiest plan and the only one that I have been able to stick with for a while.
Good morning, Citygirl and anyone else that has joined us. I'm still loving this eating plan. So happy that I can eat things that are good for me - veggies, fruits, protein.
I won't weigh again until Saturday so don't know if I have lost this week or not. I am so happy with my start last week, so I won't complain if the scale doesn't show a loss. I can tell that I am losing inches because my clothes are starting to fit better. I don't know why I let myself gain some of this weight back- just haven't done well since Thanksgiving. I have around 20# to go. I was within 10# of my goal before then.
Today I will have a shake for breakfast, homemade protein cookie for a snack and protein shake for my other snack. For lunch I will have refried beans on tortilla and veggies. This evening I plan on having chicken strips and fruit.
I bought the book two days ago and started day 1 yesterday. Love the shakes I bought (Atkins, royale chocolate), ate more veggies than normal, and my Smart Ones were awesome. Lost 2 1/2 pounds of water overnight. ha I'm very excited about trying this. It is totally against my belief system, eating prepackaged foods. I need the simplicity and rhythm of establishing a good routine, though. I was worried about sodium, but I logged my food and my intake was only 2751. That's a little higher than what it should be, but not what I thought it would be. It's all good. I'm going to give this one month to see how it goes.
