Hi everyone..I am trying IE. Do you have any books or info that would be helpful? I have been surfing the net and got some info. I see that this is #12 thread. Is there some old threads that I can read on? How do I get a weight loss ticker? Boy I'm just full of questions...

For me the book that clicked was the overfed head. You can read chapter online. If you search for intuitive eating you'll see the old threads. You can get a ticker at the tickerfactory.com and post it in your signature. I did have a list of books we had complied I'll see if I can find it.
Welcome

Try and do one thing a week. I am buying tickets for an event at the NY food and wine convention on Oct.
On an IE not I think I need to stay away from carbs for lunch at work. Is that against IE? I make my lunch in sunday, so really it just something to eat to get me through the day. I'm going try cabbage and baked chicken. Also I've been messing around with some Indian recipes....love it.
It's not a want, Obi, it's a must......to see my brother 13 hr. away and then on to pick up Rich's dad 10 hr. from there and then home......another 9 hr. Staying away from carbs is just fine. Listen to your body.
I've been AWOL for quite a while. Life gets so busy in the summer.
I'm still hanging in there with IE. I have plateaued for several months, but I also cheat a little bit, so I'm not terribly upset about it. I am actually thrilled that I am maintaining rather than gaining.
I conquered the All-You-Can-Eat Chinese food buffet this summer! This was always a tough one for me. Instead of only making one plate and feeling like I was missing out, I started putting 2 or 3 plates of food in front of me before beginning the meal, including dessert. That makes it easier to sample everything and rate the best stuff early on. I feel a tad guilty for being wasteful with all the uneaten stuff, but then again, they charge $15 per person, so at least now I feel like I'm getting my money's worth.
I've re-read IE and the Eden Diet, which made me realize my portion sizes were starting to creep up on me. It's good to refresh the initiative. It's easy to forget portion size when I'm busy and doing the "working lunch" thing, which my job requires.
The weather is getting cold and I began to think about summer and winter weights. Has anyone here experienced this while on IE? I usually gain about 5 lbs in the winter, but this is my first fall on IE.
Quick Reply before I head into work. I tend to do badly with IE in the summer (and excercising) in general before I'm out alot more and there are the tempting treats I want to overeat. In the fall and winter I'm home and pretty much eat when I'm hungry and stick to healthier items, but I'm probably the odd ball here.

Weird IE thing. So have an alternating work schedule M,W,F I work 12-8pm and Tu and Th I work 9-5. On the early days I have ice coffee(not into hot drinks). I don't drink it any other days of the week. So I the question in my etenal rambling is when is something a habit and when is it IE. can it be both? Just "talking" out loud.
I have been waiting until I feel hungry to eat. Before I used to eat by the clock. Get to work 8. Eat my oatmeal by 8:30. Yesterday it was 10 before I ate and today it was 9:30 and I even left some oatmeal since I was satisfied. Lunch was after 1:00 when I used to eat right on the dot of 12. Last night for dinner I waited until I was hungry. Imagine that concept. I think I'm doing this right. Any words of advice for me???? Thanks for the welcome... (hope my ticker shows up)
Tina, sounds like you are doing it right. Obie, I find that after quite awhile I get tired of even my favorite foods or drinks for that matter. I used to just love Cadbury chocolate bars with almonds and now I have no desire for one.
No worries, sending you a virutal hug. I would have thought you Dr or who ever gave it to you would have mentioned the weight issue?
My day is ok, I think i'm overdoing the working out (have sprained ankle) but the rest of me feel really good. So not doing anything this weekend.

Well I just wanted to do a quick update. Well after losing weight my weight had started to creep up again (by about 2 lbs). Finally something clicked in my brain and I realized why I have been losing little to no weight, even when I was dieting. My copper IUD (birth control) is probably what is making it so hard to lose weight no matter how clean I eat. Sure enough I do a quick google search and learn a lot about the COPPER that is in the IUD. Even though my bc is non hormonal the copper still throws the body out of whack.
I have been on this bc for over 3 years now and a couple of weeks ago I was at my highest weight ever. I weighed more then I did the day before I gave birth. The weight gain came gradually even though I hadn't changed anything in my diet and I was exercising more. Well I'm sure you ladies can guess what I plan to do, I'm having it removed soon. After reading so many stories I was shocked to know that a non hormonal bc could cause weight gain, plus its a foreign object. Ugh I just wish I would have known this sooner or would have linked the weight gain to my IUD sooner. From what the other women said it is almost impossible to lose the weight and even when I was CC I would lose 1 lbs and thats it.
I just can't wait to get this thing removed because I am having so many side effects that I never would have guessed came from the IUD. Well sorry this is off topic and I'm still a IE and loving it and hopefully once I get the IUD removed I will start to lose the weight or at least thats what I hope will happen
Hope you get to feeling better, Carly. I only used bc before my first baby and a short while after. At 41 I had my last baby, never used anything and never got pg again. So I'm not much help. My appetite has quieted down since we got home from a short trip.
