Good for you Carly, getting the IUD out. Were you ever at Ft. Riley, Kansas. We are from NE originally and went to K State to college.

@Caryl I find it simply amazing a Dr would refuse to do something you think is right for your body. Blah @them

@Carol Your family sounds like mine. At Thanksgiving we have 40 IMMEDIATE family and then we have more people over. Its a mad house, stressful, but I love it.

@Tina....Sounds like you're doing great, one of the things I love about IE is the flexibility of it.

Eating has been ok. I have noticed if I get bored with eating the same thing 4 days in a row(i cook all my food for the week on Sunday because I have a weird schedule) I kinda of have a mini fall off the wagon and over eat. I think I just like variety so I cooked a few different things for the week. I haven't been on the scale, but its TOM so I'll wait till Friday.

I find I need the variety with working out as well. Been putting my high priced cable to better use with the exercise tv channel.

Also going low carb this week...just feel more natural to me...we'll see.

So since I've gone back to IE pretty completely I've noticed I don't have a need to snack. I used to carry 2 pieces of fruit and a 100 cal snack to help with hunger issues. Now, not so much. Left my lunch at home and managed to make good choices and not use it as a license to go crazy.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

So good to see you posting regularly again, Obie. I noticed that when I am tired after a busy week that I want to snack more. Guess I'll go to bed soon.

Morning guys, interesting story for today. The ex and I are trying to work out a friendship...which still has alot of emotional ups and downs....We had a down recently and while my instinct was to stuff myself or over do it on something sweet I didn't. I got derailed badly because of emotional eating and really working on being able to be upset or grumpy without using food to make it feel better.

Other related note. I ate dinner off a saucer yesterday. It wasn't a planned thing i was just in the mood for a little meat, so I grabbed a saucer. I also think I have some clean plate ( having to eat everything on my plate even if I'm full) and full plate (putting enough food on the plate to cover it) issues. Always a work in progress.

That clean plate thing is in me, too. Obie. It's just hard to overcome. Good for you for not stuffing. I have had good days of IE lately. I just need to stay off the scale.

Just checking in. I am doing well with IE so far. I am going a baby shower on Saturday. Hopefully I will do well. I will be helping out so maybe that will keep me busy. I find myself not eating a bunch of snacks anymore. I eat lunch later than I did before. I am on a kick right now with greek yogurt. I love this stuff. Hope everyone is doing well also.

I love this so I am posting so maybe it will help others:

When I am bored, eating is easier than finding something productive to do.
When I am sad, eating is easier than crying real tears.
When I am scared, eating is easier than facing my fears.
When I am lonely, eating is easier than feeling the loneliness.
When I am frustrated, eating is easier than finding a solution.
Eating is easier than really living. But do you really want a life shrouded and numbed by food?
Do you really? Is it REALLY easier? Not in the long run.

Life is good, story for today. So a girlfriend of mine has a candy jar in the office with mini's. I've been trying to stay away from it, since I've been on IE strangely it isn't the issue it was when I was calorie counting...weird...Anyway one bad habit I've picked up is I want something sweet after I eat in the office. I don't want to go to the can because I was finding myself eating from it every so often through out the day and before you knew it I had eaten 10 of the darn things. Anyway....so I ate lunch and wanted something sweet. didn't go to the can, nothing in the vending machine I wanted (refused to settle) went outside and bought something. Ate a bit of it and was satisfied. Will save it for the rest of the week.

In a good mood, worried about my weigh in on friday....blah

Everyone have a good day.

We'll be gone for a week, Lord willing, and not sure if we'll have access to the computer. Keep up the good work.

Hello!

I'm interesting in getting a book to learn more about intuitive eating. Any recommendations?

I've recently developed this weird relationship with food. I am thinking about it CONSTANTLY!! Always worrying about what I will eat. Trying to be uber-careful to eat what's "right". Stressing when I eat something bad...eating more and more bad stuff telling myself this is the last binge before going on a diet. (the diet never comes....the binging goes on). Feeling like a huge failure after eating huge amounts of junk food.

I will eat something and then if someone at work is ordering out for food I will order with them and eat it (even thought I am NOT hungry) and then when I go home I will eat whatever is for dinner!! So, basically, I will eat large amounts of garbage and then feel HORRIBLE but not really do anything about it. Just continue to eat junk without changing my behavior.

I want to get to the point where food is the last thing on my mind. I dont' want to obsess and have my life revolve around, "This is my last donut before I start eating salads.....no wait, this one is....no this one!!" I want eating to be purely a way to supply fuel for my body, NOT what I live for and obsess over.

Thanks!

The book I would recommend is the overfed head by Rob Stevens. He has a website and you can read the first chapter online. I liked it because he didn't rely on case studied. It felt more like a talk he was giving directly to you.

Also Intuitive eating by by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch.

There are others if you Google (or search on amazon) for intuitive eating.

Best way to get started is so really ask yourself are you hungry. Are you satisfied? Also if you're unsure wait a bit and ask the same questions again.

I'm doing pretty well I think. I did lose 1 1/4 # this week. I have a baby shower to go to on Saturday. Can't wait to start cooking soups that seems to satisfy me alot. Does anyone have a recommendation for a new scale? Mine will say one thing and then I will get right back on it and it will say something else.
