Hello all. Trish Hope you are better soon. Any idea what the rash is and what caused it?
The scale was better Friday. We went see Bill Engvall and enjoyed it very much, better experience than I thought, would do it again.
This Friday we are going up to New Orleans to see Jeff Dunham, but since we are about 1.5 hours away we won't have to stay overnight.
Well getting ready to go and see what time the Nascar race is on.
Hi, ladies I haven't posted in a while. I forgot all about this thread and went a whole week without reading it Oops. Well I have still been IE and have gotten serious about running. Yesterday I couldn't find my shoes so I had this bright idea why not run on the treadmill barefoot. Surprisingly I'm not the only person whose done this but supposedly running barefoot has a lot of benefits. So I tried it and it felt great, usually when I wear shoes I feel so weighed down and I get really hot and sweaty. But when I ran barefoot I did not sweat as much and had more stamina to run longer without stopping. The heat from my body was able to leave my body through my feet and also not wearing shoes helped keep my body cool.
I rarely wear shoes unless I'm going to the store or getting on the treadmill. Some people were like eww gross but unless you try it don't knock it. I'm trying to get serious about running again I miss the high I feel after a long run. I really enjoy it and I need to set goals for how I want to progress with running. I know it sorta goes against IE approach or maybe it doesn't but I need to run at least 3-4 times a week so that it becomes a habit. Thankfully Colorado you see lots of people outdoors walking, running, biking, hiking, etc its very motivating plus it rarely rains out here it's always sunny.
Having computer problems here. It said we had a virus but this am I quickly pulled up the avg free and now I finally got on here. Hope it keeps working.
Carly, I once went without shoes for about a month doing walk away the pounds and I got the worst heal pain........took me months to get over it.
I'm sorry to hear that. I rarely wear shoes since I'm always in the house, and when I'm outside I wear these really thin slippers with hardly any padding on the bottom. The only thing that I noticed was I'm able to run longer.
Since I started running I have had more energy, I hope to be running outside in a couple of weeks but right now I run on the treadmill where I can have privacy and not feel so self conscious. I need to buy some workout clothing plus my dog can be my jogging buddy. I prefer my dog because she will run, walk, or stop whenever I stop and I would feel bad making a friend slow down just because I'm getting tired.
My flowers are doing great also, even the flowers that looked like they were about to die are now flourishing and beautiful. The only thing that I get tired of is the weeds, here in Colorado the weeds have thorns on them so I can't pull them up and I hate using weed killer around my flowers. I cut the weeds with scissors now. I hate how quickly weeds grow. I got a little off topic lol
carlyjordan, I have seen a man a couple of times now out running barefoot. He runs on asphalt. I thought it was the weirdest thing when I saw him. (Still think it a little strange.) How on earth doesn't he hurt his feet if he lands on a rock! Owww!
I always do Walk Away the Pounds barefooted. I don't know if that is good or bad. And I also walk around the house barefooted, but never could go barefooted outside.
The pain in my shoulder and arm has pretty much gone away. Finally realized it was caused by carrying my purse on my shoulder with so much junk in it that it was extremely heavy. I always do that on trips. The one good thing right now is I'm not hungry and the weight is coming off again. I just hope it keeps coming off.
DH and I both have appts with new doctor tomorrow afternoon which will be nice to have the same doc and maybe we will learn something then. I'll check back when I can.
Hello all. Just a quick check in. Very hot here. If you hear about the oil spill in the Gulf and here a place mentioned called Grand Isle, that is just a little ways south of where we live, horrible effect on our pelicans, so much suffering will come about from this. Doing good with my eating even though we are on "vacation", aka, staying home since we had to cancel our trip to TN to see my brother. Well, gotta go and see what we will have for lunch. Have a blessed day! Tammy

A Surprising Solution to Your Hunger Pangs
I can't tell you how many of my overweight clients tell me they're never hungry. If this is true, then why aren't they slim, trim, and nowhere near my office? Here's why: They're not hungry because they never let themselves get hungry. They're so afraid of a little rumbling in their tummies that they pop something into their mouths to satisfy the slightest hint of hunger. Worse yet, some even eat so as to stave off future hunger.
Naturally thin people, on the other hand, recognize slight to moderate hunger for what it is — an uncomfortable sensation that will neither last nor do any permanent damage. They intuitively understand that we're not in a famine and that food is generally a quick walk or car ride away. They know they won't die of hunger, because they learned in high school biology that people can live for days without food. Because of their non-alarmist attitude, they're often able to ignore their hunger till food is available.
My advice to overweight people who are never hungry is to actually let yourself experience hunger once in a while. Doing so will help you to deal with it the way naturally thin people do.

I've become really interested in intuitive eating after studying it for a uni assignment and am thinking of "swapping" from calorie counting. Next pay I'm going to order the Intuitive Eating book and really do some good reading on it. Anyways, I know about the learning to realign our bodies with natural hunger and satiety responses but I do wonder if all the moral panic about "starvation mode" and "don't slow down your metabolism" etc is doing more harm than good as far as this issue is concerned.
Advice I've read - not on 3FC, btw, but another CC centric site - includes
Never let yourself get hungry, otherwise you'll probably just eat the wrong thing
Always eat breakfast, even if you're not hungry*
You shouldn't trust your body to make the right choices or you would never have gotten overweight in the first place
*I'm not advocating meal skipping, but surely I'm not the only one that ends up eating MORE the days when I force myself to eat something when I first wake up. I prefer my first meal of the day to be a smallish morning tea and I successfully maintained a healthy weight my entire life [before I got fat in my late 20s after having a baby] by listening to my own body tell me it didn't want to eat straight away.
Welcome GoldenLeaf. I think most of us have had the same thing happen some time in our life, whether it be because of pregnancy or otherwise, we went from thin to obese on all kinds of diets. I have ten children and have been on prednisone off and on for thirty years so my hunger signal has been compromised. Still learning.
Hello all. Welcome GoldenLeaf!!! Carol thanks again for wonderful insight. In response to GoldenLeaf's post, you know it's so disheartening that people naturally assume fat people are lazy and stupid and now they tell us not to let ourselves get hungry because we will probably eat "the wrong thing", again alluring to the fact that because we are overweight we are too stupid to make good choices, why shouldn't we trust our bodies? God make hunger for a reason, to let us know when to eat, he made fullness for a reason, to let us know to stop eating. We are all overweight for a reason, for many reasons, but that does not make us too stupid to make good choices or to follow the signals God has provided us with.
Thank you GoldenLeaf for sharing with us I hope you hand around here, there are a bunch of wonderful people here and we can all help and learn from each other.
DH and I had our first visit with our new doctor. I was very pleased to find a doctor that I felt so comfortable with. He looked at my rash and said "That is shingles". Hey ladies, if you ever get something that looks like chicken pox get to the doctor immediately. If I had gone to him within 72 hours, he could have treated it. I have to ride it out since I didn't have the doctor at that time. I also found out that my blood sugar is up again and am going on diabetic meds until I get it back down to normal. It isn't extremely high, but up enough. He was so good to take the time to talk to me about the diet etc. He even set the ca lorie limit of 1800 cals although I can eyeball using a plate pattern of 1/2 plate of nonstarchy carbs, 1/4 starchy carbs and 1/4 meat, fish etc. or I can count carbs/calories. I will still do a lowcarb, but will watch my calories for a short time. He stressed the fact that exercise has to go with losing and then maintaining. So I am happy with my results overall and that I now have a doctor and one who is interested in working with me.
DH had a clot in his left leg and he was sent immediately to the ER to get him started on coumadin treatment. He will be going the process of getting on that. I think the cardiologist should have done that when we went to him last week. When Tony asked our new primary doctor if they would start treatment today since he wouldn't be able to see the doctor again til today, the doctor said "No, if you have a clot in that leg, you cannot wait till tomorrow. It could kill you". They took him immediately to the ER in wheelchair because he didn't even want him walking. It was that serious. They started the treatment and we were able to come home, but he has to take it easy while starting this. Makes me wonder where was the cardiologists head in all of this? I am just thankful that we got the right doctor to handle it.
Well, I will be here to read mostly. Typing makes my arm with the shingles hurt if I use it too much.
