None of those cookies for you, MrsAugie!
Next year you can indulge again.

Ruthxxx 12-12-2009 08:02 AM

Still resisting cookies around here but I am baking up a storm. They'll all go in the freezer - I know how they taste after years of experimenting.
Cold and snowing :coolsnow::snow4: again today but I'll be out shovelling as soon as it stops.

Heidi58 12-12-2009 08:25 AM

Good plan for the cookies Ruth! :bravo: I'm doing the same today, mixing my cookie dough and freezing it til my family arrives. I'll bake what I need once they're here to eat them.

I loved Julie and Julia - it's one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Angie's got good taste. :)

mrsaugie 12-12-2009 08:41 AM

just because i said they sound good....

Good morning everyone.

EZMONEY 12-12-2009 09:00 AM

Had to but on shoes to get the paper out of the driveway this morning...dang rain...

IIII enjoyed the movie last night...of course I did have to have Angie pause it a few times...

my alma mater was on the local TV channel playing in the Championship game down at Chargers Stadium....

cathydoe 12-12-2009 09:45 AM

Countdown is on for Christmas for Kids (CFK) Delivery is tuesday and thursday is pick up! We have almost 500 kids this year! And I have a list to call today of people that were LATE and did not fill our an application...no cookies for me (yet) :)

EZMONEY 12-12-2009 03:24 PM

Good for you CATHY!

We had 85 food baskets to hand out at church for Thanksgiving...more are requested for Christmas this year.

Ruthxxx 12-13-2009 07:26 AM

Gary, our wee town (pop. 700 if you include rural) has had more requests for Christmas hampers this year than any other and the Food Bank has more clients. It makes me very sad.

Church this morning where we will have "The Hanging of the Greens", an old English tradition. It also gets the Church decorated before we hit the Christmas Eve rush!

EZMONEY 12-13-2009 08:39 AM

I think my bragging rights have ended...

pouring rain all after noon yesterday....all night....continuing as I post....

ronni62 12-13-2009 04:52 PM

Karen-those cookies just sound wonderful! I may have to rethink my teetotalling lifestyle-lol!

I have to share a couple of our 'quotes of the year' with you all-

First, DS2 actually received a special gift at the football banquet from the football stat girls for the best compliment during drills (the compliments are mandatory and none can be repeated during these drills) for when he told his stat girl, "If you were a booger, I'd pick you!" Apparently, this had the girls and the football coaches laughing so hard, they allowed DS2 to skip the rest of the drill as a reward that day!

Second, DH, when talking about his pants falling down and needing a belt, says, "You know you can't keep pants on a basketball!" (Yeah, he's got a little tummy, but it's decreasing more quickly than mine:p) Now, I know where the DS's get it.....

EZMONEY 12-13-2009 06:05 PM

funny stuff RONNI

cathydoe 12-13-2009 06:09 PM

Thanks 4 sharing Ronni...I'd like to remember that booger one...

We just got home from eating dinner at our favorite Mexican Restaurant. I had CHICKEN in my burrito vs my usual STEAK! This will be my 3rd time for CHICKEN. It is okay with the chicken...but the STEAK is better (yes I am whinning!!)

Heidi58 12-13-2009 07:10 PM

Karen31 12-13-2009 07:26 PM

Ronni--those were pretty funny!!! I'll have to remember them and use them at the "Appropriate" times!!! Too funny.

cathydoe 12-13-2009 08:16 PM

Really ... no whining! Ah, but I do it so good! Okay, just for you Heidi.

EZMONEY 12-13-2009 08:24 PM

cathydoe 12-13-2009 08:43 PM

Ruthxxx 12-14-2009 07:03 AM

Don't start me on whining. I'm stressed and crabby today. Stand back!

EZMONEY 12-14-2009 08:55 AM

cathydoe 12-14-2009 09:27 AM

<said in an adult, no whining voice> no problem Ruth...thanks 4 letting us know...your wish is our command...DISTANCE provided, free of charge.

Slashnl 12-14-2009 03:49 PM

Hang in there Ruth!

Kind of makes me worried, Gary, if you are getting lots of rain, will we be getting lots of snow in a couple of days? Dang it.

Heidi58 12-14-2009 05:19 PM

*hums* I'm dreaming of a white Christmas....

mrsaugie 12-14-2009 07:02 PM

*starts sing next line* just like the ones i used to know

Karen31 12-14-2009 07:45 PM

mrsaugie 12-14-2009 07:48 PM

Karen31 12-14-2009 09:17 PM

Ruthxxx 12-15-2009 07:28 AM

Ting! Ting! Ting! Ting!....in descending scale.

Today should be merry and bright although I have dense fog....that's outside, not mental. I'm feeling very Christmassy and kind of warm and fuzzy because of all the donations we are getting for the Christmas food baskets and the toy drive.

EZMONEY 12-15-2009 08:47 AM

Great news on donations RUTH!

Don't forget to go to General Chatter and vote for my daughter in law!

ronni62 12-15-2009 09:57 AM

Bet those votes are adding up, Gary!

Hey, you all could have started a new game-a song each day till Christmas!

Hope you're all having a good morning (afternoon, for Dutchgirl, of course!)

Slashnl 12-15-2009 10:20 AM

I kind of like the song "What is Christmas?" by Trans Siberian Orchestra. It is a tongue in cheek criticism of Christmas. It just makes me laugh. My favorite part is where he sings "the reason for Christmas I now realize... is an excuse to tolerate snow... snow... I don't even like the sound of it..."

That's me!!!

mrsaugie 12-15-2009 10:45 AM

Diane-- I laugh every time I hear it. my favorite line " a reason to tolorate snow. Snow I don't even like the sound of it."

cathydoe 12-15-2009 01:35 PM

Oh my, I don't even think I have heard that song!

dutchgirl 12-15-2009 02:01 PM

Don't know that song. Sounds fun.The last couple of days have been bright and sunny and colder than a witches whatnots here. I love this weather. I wear ski-pants on the scooter to and from work. maybe I look a right idiot but at least I am a warm idiot:D

Heidi58 12-15-2009 06:21 PM

I'd never heard of that song either, but being the curious type I googled. :p

What Is Christmas? Trans_Siberian Orchestra

EZMONEY 12-15-2009 10:06 PM

That song is on my shuffle...but then so is EVERY other Trans Siberian Christmas song!

Ruthxxx 12-16-2009 06:46 AM

Brrrr! 9F this morning. I'm off later today for a short trip and will be taking my warmest coat and scarf and hat and mittens and whatever else it takes. Maybe Scotch?

Try not to hit 500 when I'm gone, OK?

EZMONEY 12-16-2009 08:37 AM

We don't keep promises around here RUTH

Sounds like a challenge to me.

Heidi58 12-16-2009 11:21 AM

:D Enjoy your trip, Ruth!

Ruthxxx 12-16-2009 12:39 PM

Well, Bargoo started this thread so she's in charge of closing it if she wants. Be nice to her.

The real reason we stick to 500 posts is to give the MODs something to do to earn their incredible salaries.
